With a packed parking lot and a long line out the door, I expected this place to serve exceptional Korean food. I honestly couldn't figure out the hype--perhaps there simply aren't many Korean dining options nearby. Unfortunately, the meal didn't live up to the wait. The spicy pork was overwhelmed with seasoning and far too spicy, masking the flavor of the meat itself. The dumpling soup was average at best, and the banchan lacked freshness and variety. The cold noodles tasted especially disappointing, almost as if they had been assembled from packaged ingredients rather than made in-house. Service was just okay. The restaurant was extremely loud, with kids running around and a constant sense of chaos, making it difficult to enjoy the meal. Cleanliness also left something to be desired, as the dining area didn't feel particularly well maintained. Considering the long wait, crowded atmosphere, and mediocre food, I wouldn't return. There are better Korean restaurants worth seeking out if you're looking for quality and authentic flavors.
Yummy! Between my friends and I, we got a few different things to try and there was something to love about all of it! The Galbi was insanely good and mouthwatering! I also really enjoyed their Scallion Pancake and loved how it had full pieces of shrimp rather than small cut-up pieces that you can't even taste. The only thing really lacking to me was the Bibimbop as it didn't have much flavor to it outside of the bulgogi on top.
I had the biggest craving for bossam and my bf and I decided to try this place. We were in the area and the reviews looked good. It was so worth it. The serving was more than enough for the two of us and fed us later as well. The sides were delicious and service was very fast. I want to come back to try the soups. It was also a great day because the World Cup was playing and everyone was having a great meal and screening.
Caveat that I didn't order what this place is really known for. I got the tofu bibimbap. That being said, it was really solid! A healthy portion with a good amount of veggies and tofu. The tofu was of the softer variety and they deep fry it. Interesting that they don't offer any gochujang sauce put on top. Instead it's a sweet/savory sauce that they serve with your meal and you pour it over. It's much runnier and liquid than the traditional gochujang. I liked the variety of banchan and they didn't hesitate to refill any of you requested. Especially liked their japchae and their kimchi. The kimchi wasn't too sweet which I appreciated compared to other restaurants. It's not a huge space but it was able to accommodate our party of 8. We did make reservations ahead of time for a 5:30 seating. The restaurant had a line out the door when we left around 7. This was a Fri.
Absolutely loved my meal here! The sweetest workers and excellent customer service made us feel so welcome. The space is also very open and clean! We ordered the combo with the Spicy Braised Short Rib in Stone Pot (with mozzarella cheese), Spicy Beef Soup with Vegetables, Seafood Pancake, and Bulgogi. The star of the show was definitely the short rib pot - so tender, with bouncy rice cakes and a sauce that was perfectly spicy and sweet. I enjoyed every single bite! My next favorite was the bulgogi bowl - simple, but so well done. The fresh vegetables added a variety of textures, and honestly, I could eat that every day! Highly recommend this spot if you're craving delicious and comforting Korean food.
Woomiok is a must try in San Diego! I've been to this place sooo many times when I used to live here. There's a parking lot but it can get full pretty quickly on weekends. We put our name down and had to wait about 15 mins for a table on a Sunday afternoon. We ordered and got the side dishes first. It was all super tasty. You're able to get more if you'd like. The kimchi is soooo good! We ordered two of the emperors soup with a lot of different meats. Soooo good! also it's good hangover soup for the those days!! Def give it a try if you haven't yet!
So I was recommended to try this place and I am sold. I walked in right when they opened and within ten minutes it was bustling. I had been recommended to try the beef bone soup so that's what I ordered. I felt that I should try an appetizer so I got the panko breaded fried dumplings as well. I don't know if ban Chan and steamed rice come with every meal but they were brought out and I was thrilled. Within about ten minutes, the dumplings arrived and they were surprisingly good. I have to be honest, panko doesn't usually excite me but they were very good. They were also served at a manageable temperature while still being crispy. Likely twice fried I dipped them into the chili sauce that comes with the ban Chan and I would have been happy even without the soup. The steamed rice was perfect and sticky and easy to eat with chopsticks. The soup was simple and very much something that feels home cooked. They bring you a container of salt and pepper and you salt it yourself. I personally love that but I'm sure some people will under salt their dish and complain it was not good. The brisket in the soup was very tender and I felt like I was having a great but slightly decadent home cooked meal. I was really impressed with the service and quality. Every table has a call button with an alarm that's almost too loud for the atmosphere. But regardless , I was checked on more than enough to never feel like I needed to flag someone down. The prices were very reasonable and they have lunch options for a lot of the items on the menu. Definitely coming back to try more!
Big fan of their spicy pork over rice in hot stone pot. We also got the galbi combo with spicy cold noodles, which was good. Their banchan is pretty decent. Beyond the food, I would recommend waiting inside if you're on the waitlist. When we were there, we saw the guy quietly go down the waitlist, and he didn't bother checking to see if the party was waiting outside. So anyone who waited outside would've been skipped.
Revisited for lunch. Parking lot is very difficult during lunch. Service was slow as I only saw one staff member. Took a long time to receive banchan/we got it minutes before our food came out. Tried: Fried tofu over rice bowl $17 - very hot stone bowl kept food very warm. Be sure to stir or rice will get crunchy at bottom. This is shareable, too much food for one person. Taste was good. Oxtail soup $24 - bland but that is on purpose as they give green onions and salt on the side to add to your taste. Banchan - kimchi and radish were spicier than I thought they would be. Had to waive staff down for water refill, check and box for food. Overall it was okay. Lunch pricing is great, recommend to visit during lunch. Portions are large.
My husband and I enjoyed a hearty, comforting lunch here during our trip to San Diego. The Korean food here is as authentic as it gets. We shared the beef short rib soup, cold noodles, and bulgogi (Korean style soy sauce marinated beef). Everything was very tasty, with my favorite dish being the beef short rib soup. This soup was filled with various ingredients and was delicious to eat. As for the cold noodles, it was flavorful and refreshing. For the bulgogi, I really liked that it was cooked with mixed vegetables like carrots, cabbage, onions, and green onions, making the dish more balanced.
We had a group of 8 on a Friday at 5:30pm for dinner. And had no issue getting a table. But we did see a huge line outside waiting. Service was fast and friendly. The banchan was all tasty and had a punch of flavor. I got the Bulgogi Dolsot Bibimbap. The serving size was pretty big and the bowl was sizzling. The waitress had to point it out to me but bibimbap came with sauce you too with it. If she didn't say something I would of confused the sauce for something else. Woomiok is probably the best authentic korean restaurant I've been to in SD. Highly recommend. But keep in mind there will probably be a wait
Came back and again was wow-d. The food and service is always impressive and I'm happy I got to try new items. We got the spicy pork and bulgolgi bibimbaps and the spicy galbijim. Everything was great! I think the spicy pork bibimbap was the best. Galbijim was very good for shade with group of friends

When Customer Service is A-AMAZING, it makes the food taste even better! We order the Special combo and Galbi plate. Our waiter mentioned that we had a bit too much food, but we just smiled and said it was also for dinner. Honesty was a plus in our book. The Galbi plate is my favorite. The other dishes were a bit spicy for me, but my boys loved it. My husband's favorite was the seafood pancake, and my son prefers the bone soup though I thought it was a little bland. Though we have different taste buds, we all enjoyed certain food to our liking. The best part of the meal was eating rice and the free side plates. I was already so content and almost full when the main course came out! read more

I went to Woomiok for lunch with a friend on a weekday. It is located in a decent size shopping center with a large parking lot. Didn't have any trouble finding a spot, but there was street parking available as well. They have mostly indoor and a few outdoor tables. We were seated without a wait. The menu is fairly small, consisting of mostly soups and hot stone or braised dishes. I opted for the Korean beef bibimap and my friend ordered a soup. She said the soup broth was very bland and had to season it with salt and other fixings from the side dishes after we asked the server to explain them. The bibimap was excellent I enjoyed the rice in the hot stone as it was able to crisp up some and also somewhat cook the egg yolk sitting on top of the dish. I did opt to add the sauce provided with the side dishes as well as it wasn't packed with flavor as served. They do provide the banchan of side dishes, but I only tried the glass noodles as I wasn't sure what everything else was. This felt like an authentic Korean spot in convoy district. read more

We were in the area and wanted something yummy and soupy. So I found this place on Yelp and got on the Yelp waitlist right away. It was a Friday night and was so crowded! While waiting we studied the menu and everything smelled so good! We waited for a while because it was peak dinner time, prob at least an hour so be read to wait if you come during popular dining time. Food and service were great! It was fast and staff were attentive and super friendly! We got a spicy beef soup with vegetable and the emperor soup (beef one short ribs). We ordered an extra side of the beef short ribs and I think it was $15 extra. Overall soup got good flavor and the spicy beef soup was especially flavorful! Def Yelp was spot on for this location and highly recommend! read more
I've never had anything like the spicy cold noodles before! The texture was chewy and had such a nice mild spice and vinegar flavor. Get a side of rice with the spicy pork and add in the banchan and mix it all with some spicy mustard - perfect meal. read more

Solid Korean spot if you like soups and other meats. They were able to accommodate a table for 12 pretty quickly which was impressive and the wait staff was all really nice. read more
I haven't explored Korean food much, but after visiting Woomiok it might become a new staple for me. I saw the spicy cold noodles online and knew I had to come try them. They surpassed all of my expectations! They were super flavorful and the meat was sliced nice and thin which complimented the thin noodle texture well. They were very saucy but not too spicy, I would say they had a subtle heat. I also loved the banchan, the radish was my favorite! And when we finished certain dishes they were quick to offer us more. Beyond the food, the restaurant was clean and the staff were very kind and efficient. We came around 5:30pm on a Friday and didn't have to wait for a table for 2, but when we were leaving there was a crowd by the entrance. I did notice you can join the waitlist on Yelp which is always a plus! I can wait to come back and try more dishes. read more
Woomiok is a must try if you're in SD. I recommend going with a big group and doing family style to try different dishes. Our favorites are the pork belly and cold noodles (add vinegar), but truthfully, nothing really disappointed. Service is quick and there's a button for convenience if you are missing something. read more
Didn't expect to have Korean food while visiting San Diego but my wife and I came here on a Monday Lunch and we were immediately seated. Clean interior, very spacious and plenty of tables around. Parking - Free, in a large shared parking lot. Immediately, we were impressed with the service. They were friendly and quick which made the experience very enjoyable. We placed an order for a Naengmyeon (Cold noodles) combo which came with a plate of bulgogi, and we also ordered a Galbitang (beef short rib soup) to share. The Naengmyeon (cold noodles) were very delicious. Although presentation is similar to many other Korean restaurants, the noodles and broth was a huge standout. Other restaurants would use too much ice but not here. It was the perfect dish to start the meal. The bulgogi plate is a standout here, it was very well cooked and plated beautifully. None of the pieces including the complimenting vegetables were burnt or had any implications of any pieces being overcooked. It was very delicious and one of the best bulgogi plates I've ever eaten. Galbitang is pretty standard, beef wasn't super tough and was very enjoyable to eat. Love the portions and not too salty broth. Overall, one of the best Korean food spots in San Diego and certainly up there in my top Korean food spots. Excited to visit again whenever I'm in the area. Highly recommend Woomiok for authentic and tasty Korean food. read more

Authentic korean sullungtang! We tried all three versions, and they were all delicious and exactly what we were looking for. Rich flavor, tender meat, perfectly cooked noodles. The meat paired perfectly with the soy sauce based side dish. There were plenty of side dishes and all were pretty solid, but my favorite was the japchae and seasoned dried radish. The restaurant itself is clean and spacious with lots of seats, but the seats fill up fast. Service is fast and friendly. read more
I know people love this place but honestly it's not my favorite. The staff is nice & friendly and it's always busy with customers. Today I had the oxtail soup and it was so plain with no flavor. I should have known by the picture it looked pretty bland but I was hopeful. The others in my party loved what they ordered. The sides are always the star of the show. Lots of options and they're great when you want more. Location is great and there's no charge to park in their parking lot. There's plenty of inside seating and the restaurant has an open area so it's seems much bigger. read more

Best Korean food I've had in San Diego honestly. The short rib dish was so insanely tender, the banchan was a good variety & delicious, the seafood pancake was stuffed to the brim and the LA galbi was so good. Really happy to have found this gem after trying a slew of mediocre Korean spots in convoy. read more
Woomiok has a stylish, yet authentic, interior. Service was super friendly, and they specialize in traditional bone broth soup, seolleongtang. The side dishes here are very delicious, our meal came with japchae, radish kimchi, fish cake, and some fermented squid. My boyfriend and I ordered the Spicy Braised Short Rib in Stone Pot (매운 갈비찜) and the short rib was so tender, it practically fell off the bone! For an extra $5, they blow torch cheese on top of it. I loved the chewiness of the tteokbokki, and we really enjoyed the carrots and potatoes in the sauce. Next time, I will definitely try the seolleongtang, because the quality of the food and service was amazing! Woomiok will be one of my top Korean restaurant recommendations in San Diego. read more

Our kids treated us to lunch at Woomiok, a cozy spot with an open ceiling and stylish, well-thought-out decor. The layout includes booths and tables without feeling cramped. Service was quick and friendly, and the call button at the table is a nice touch for getting staff attention during busy time. The menu offers everything from traditional Korean dishes to modern twists. For the 4 of us, we got the Emperor Beef Bone Soup Combo, which included galbijim, a seafood pancake, and two other dishes we chose: BBQ galbi and braised short rib in a stone pot. Everything arrived hot and flavorful, with unlimited side dish refills. Lunch was busy but the wait was short. Parking can be tight, so plan ahead. Overall, Woomiok is a solid spot for authentic Korean food. read more
Another delicious meal at Woomiok! We arrived just before 5:30 PM on a Saturday and were seated promptly. Pro tip: this spot gets much busier with longer wait times after 6:00 PM. Since the plaza is always hopping and parking can be a struggle, we recommend dining before the dinner rush. What we ordered: Seafood Pancake: crispy and savory. Spicy Braised Short Ribs Stone Pot with Cheese: must order with the cheese balances the heat perfectly. Short Rib Soup (Galbi-tang): We ordered this to-go because it's just as good the next day. Canned Makgeolli: Tried this Korean rice wine for the first time and it was very pleasant. They even provided traditional brass bowls, which was a nice authentic touch. If you're coming with a larger group, the Woomiok Special Combo seems like a much better deal. For just two of us, we stuck to a la carte. We noticed a dog seated at a nearby table indoors. While the pup was very well behaved and didn't bother anyone, it was surprising to see a pet inside when they have designated outdoor seating. Additionally, we were seated at a smaller table for two. Once the large dishes arrived, we had to play a bit of table tetris to make everything fit. A bit more breathing room would have been nice, but we made it work! Overall, a great experience. We especially love the Banchan side dishes when dining in. Just a heads-up: for our to-go order, they only included the radish and kimchi, so you definitely get the full experience eating at the restaurant. We'll definitely be back! read more
Highly recommend Woomiok. Hands down best Korean food in San Diego. Authentic is a given but the soups, specifically the bone broth, is to die for. I tried the Emperor and short rib soups. Both are delicious and good for the soul. The Kalbi is probably the best I've ever had. Their marinade is not salty or too sweet like many other places and good also great quality. When we arrived for dinner, the restaurant was already packed. Luckily we were second on the waitlist so we didn't have to wait too long. Their service was pretty quick once we got seated. We pressed the button when we were ready to place our order. Oxtail soup: It was very flavorful! Especially with the green onion and salt added (provided on the side). The broth was light and warming to the soul. There were plenty of oxtail in the soup and were all tender and fall off the bone. Bossam: I have never had bossam before but have always wanted to try it. This portion was pretty big for a party of two. It came with a plethora was pork belly slices that were well seasoned, cabbage, and radish kimchi. The salted shrimp, ssamjang, raw garlic and chili peppers added great flavor as well. It was very tasty and pork belly was cooked well. We were struggling to finish it at the end. All the workers were quite friendly and checked in on us from time to time despite how busy they were. By the time we left there were many parties waiting to be seated. read more
First time to go to this Korean restaurant. Their food was delicious and they served it freshly cooked. Our server was very welcoming and polite. I asked my sons " where did you find this restaurant?" They both answered from "Yelp!" The atmosphere is pleasant and friendly. We had much side dishes that really savor our taste buds. I didn't think I would come back but I see all the good reviews and I had friends in town to try again so I did. I had a better experience this time. No weird smells and better food. We ordered the galbi, bossam, seafood pancake. The galbi was good but the cut seems a bit thin. The bossam was good but i think it's slightly better at another place i tried. The seafood pancake I wish they cooked it a little bit more because the batter was a bit squishy - like it was a little raw. The banchan was pretty good. The service was all good. That parking lot is terrible. Especially on a Saturday evening. read more

Parking was a little tight and not the best because the plaza was unexpectedly crowded, but it was not a big deal. FOOD: I got one of the combos to split with a friend. Our combo consisted of the bulgogi and cold noodles. Bulgogi (3.9/5) - Came it on a sizzling plate so it remained nice and warm for the duration of our meal. Portion was smaller than expected, but it was pleasant taste-wise. I think the texture was softer than I'd prefer. I liked the included rice cakes the best; they were so warm, chewy, and had a nice smoky char to them. Cold Noodles (4.2/5) - Came with the standard vinegar and hot mustard. The noodles were nice and bouncy, and I appreciated how the meat wasn't tough. The hot mustard wasn't as strong as I was expecting. I have mixed feelings about the banchan. The raw squid banchan was delicious, but the kimchi was bland and the japchae was hard. SERVICE: Service was excellent and welcoming. The dining experience overall was pretty cozy, and it was interesting to see a decent amount of solo diners. TLDR// A pretty good spot to satisfy a craving for some Korean food. Woomiok! Came here on a weekday night as soon as we arrived in San Diego. It was like 8:30pm and still the line was long! Got to try their bone broth soup with brisket and tendon, and pork katsu. First of all, their squid jeotgal was so yummy and radish kimchi was so good!! And I don't know it was that specific day, but kimchi didn't taste that good. Pork katsu was good, I could tell that the meat was good, and the sauce was a bit different from regular katsu places. With it being chilly and everyone being under the weather, what better food to eat than soup? Woomiok is right off of the main area on Convoy which means easier parking! It's comforting, the service is fast, and it's delicious! Beef Short Rib Soup - A hug in a bowl. This dish comes with a lot of tender meat and perfectly cooked glass noodles. The broth is simple but I loaded it up with green onions. Panko Breaded Fried Dumplings - Super crispy outside with a warm inside. I'd definitely get this again. read more

Do they make a good Japche? That's the dish with the glass noodles (my favorite) and prefer tofu with it, but its good with anything.
The Japche is really good. It's not greasy and it tastes healthy. I don't know if they substitute tofu, but you can ask. The staff there is accommodating.
