I went to Woomiok for lunch with a friend on a weekday. It is located in a decent size shopping center with a large parking lot. Didn't have any trouble finding a spot, but there was street parking available as well. They have mostly indoor and a few outdoor tables. We were seated without a wait. The menu is fairly small, consisting of mostly soups and hot stone or braised dishes. I opted for the Korean beef bibimap and my friend ordered a soup. She said the soup broth was very bland and had to season it with salt and other fixings from the side dishes after we asked the server to explain them. The bibimap was excellent I enjoyed the rice in the hot stone as it was able to crisp up some and also somewhat cook the egg yolk sitting on top of the dish. I did opt to add the sauce provided with the side dishes as well as it wasn't packed with flavor as served. They do provide the banchan of side dishes, but I only tried the glass noodles as I wasn't sure what everything else was. This felt like an authentic Korean spot in convoy district.
Wow what a great first meal when visiting San Diego! The servers here were really nice and attentive. Restaurant is very clean and relaxed, at least around lunch time. We ordered the galbi-jjim with cheese and it was SO GOOD! I'm used to eating Korean food and cooking it at home and sometimes it's hard to balance the flavor and spiciness. There was a pretty good sweetness to it and it wasn't that spicy. There's lots of tender meat, veggies (potatoes + carrots) and rice cakes in there! I loved the flavor and couldn't stop eating. I slightly regret getting the brisket soup too because it was kinda bland in comparison. I tried to enjoy it but it made me more full before the galbi-jjim came out. The banchan here is also so good! I think everything was seasoned nicely. They have some good japchae and sweet fish cakes. I also liked the raw squid and radish. They offer refills as well. I'd definitely go here more if I lived nearby. It'll be a galbi-jjim that I'll think about for a while.

Delicious soup that really hit the spot. I have been wanting to try this place for a bit and finally had the chance last night. I went on a Saturday night for dinner around 6:30 and the parking lot was packed. If you decide to come fire dinner, I would recommend not spending too much time driving in the parking lot and find street parking instead. The interior of Woomiok was clean and there is a good amount of tables so I was seated within 10 mins. The soup was light and tasty. I ordered the spicy beef soup with vegetables. I was expecting more items to be in my soup but it was just a couple pieces of meat, small handful of bean sprouts and a couple slices of radish. It was good but just not what I was expecting. Service was good and overall I had a nice time. I'll have to come back and try their combos, those looked like something I would have liked more.
When Customer Service is A-AMAZING, it makes the food taste even better! We order the Special combo and Galbi plate. Our waiter mentioned that we had a bit too much food, but we just smiled and said it was also for dinner. Honesty was a plus in our book. The Galbi plate is my favorite. The other dishes were a bit spicy for me, but my boys loved it. My husband's favorite was the seafood pancake, and my son prefers the bone soup though I thought it was a little bland. Though we have different taste buds, we all enjoyed certain food to our liking. The best part of the meal was eating rice and the free side plates. I was already so content and almost full when the main course came out!
This has been my favorite korean restaurant in San Diego county for YEARS! Today we got LA galbi, cold noodles, and bossam. Everything is so flavorful and I love how my broth for the cold noodles is icy. It was hot today so we didn't get any soup but I love their beef bone soups. Service is quick and there wasn't much of a wait around 3pm. I've gone here on a Saturday night before and have had to wait. There is a large parking lot as well.
Caveat that I didn't order what this place is really known for. I got the tofu bibimbap. That being said, it was really solid! A healthy portion with a good amount of veggies and tofu. The tofu was of the softer variety and they deep fry it. Interesting that they don't offer any gochujang sauce put on top. Instead it's a sweet/savory sauce that they serve with your meal and you pour it over. It's much runnier and liquid than the traditional gochujang. I liked the variety of banchan and they didn't hesitate to refill any of you requested. Especially liked their japchae and their kimchi. The kimchi wasn't too sweet which I appreciated compared to other restaurants. It's not a huge space but it was able to accommodate our party of 8. We did make reservations ahead of time for a 5:30 seating. The restaurant had a line out the door when we left around 7. This was a Fri.
Absolutely loved my meal here! The sweetest workers and excellent customer service made us feel so welcome. The space is also very open and clean! We ordered the combo with the Spicy Braised Short Rib in Stone Pot (with mozzarella cheese), Spicy Beef Soup with Vegetables, Seafood Pancake, and Bulgogi. The star of the show was definitely the short rib pot - so tender, with bouncy rice cakes and a sauce that was perfectly spicy and sweet. I enjoyed every single bite! My next favorite was the bulgogi bowl - simple, but so well done. The fresh vegetables added a variety of textures, and honestly, I could eat that every day! Highly recommend this spot if you're craving delicious and comforting Korean food.
This is by far my most favorite spot to come to on a blazing hot day. Their cold noodles just hits the spot. All their side dishes are also the perfect add ons to your meal. Kim Chee, fish cake, Japchae, pickled radish, so great. Anytime I'm with friends and we all want something refreshing, I ask if they want cold noodles and here we are. I will always come back for more cold noodles.
Woomiok is a must try in San Diego! I've been to this place sooo many times when I used to live here. There's a parking lot but it can get full pretty quickly on weekends. We put our name down and had to wait about 15 mins for a table on a Sunday afternoon. We ordered and got the side dishes first. It was all super tasty. You're able to get more if you'd like. The kimchi is soooo good! We ordered two of the emperors soup with a lot of different meats. Soooo good! also it's good hangover soup for the those days!! Def give it a try if you haven't yet!
Came here on a hot summer afternoon because I wanted Naengmyeon which is a vinegary and horseradish cold noodle dish. For a party of 3 we waited about 15 minutes since it was a busy Sunday, they were playing the World Cup Championships. I ordered the Naengmyeon, which is the cold noodle dish that's served with thin slices of beef, pickled cucumber, pickled radish, and hard boiled egg. You're given bottles of vinegar and horseradish to flavor it to your personal taste. My boyfriend ordered the Kimchi Jjigae which is kimchi soup that also comes with beef, seafood, cabbage and an egg to crack into the soup. We shared the Bossam which is Pork Belly served with Cabbage and some various radish kimchi and green onion salad. Honestly these three are pretty much the staple dishes that I order across all Korean restaurants I visit and I feel like Woomiok is a solid choice because of freshness, taste, and the quality of meat. I had the Bossam and Kimchi Jjigae at MinSokChon soon after and it was nowhere in comparison plus tasted funky (and not in a good way). So for better quality food, come to Woomiok!
I had a great beef bone broth soup with several types of meat - cheek, brisket, ox tail and topped with a jujube. The meal comes with a variety of kimchi, rice, tofu and glass noodle. I do wish they provided a mild kimchi option. Overall very good.
So I was recommended to try this place and I am sold. I walked in right when they opened and within ten minutes it was bustling. I had been recommended to try the beef bone soup so that's what I ordered. I felt that I should try an appetizer so I got the panko breaded fried dumplings as well. I don't know if ban Chan and steamed rice come with every meal but they were brought out and I was thrilled. Within about ten minutes, the dumplings arrived and they were surprisingly good. I have to be honest, panko doesn't usually excite me but they were very good. They were also served at a manageable temperature while still being crispy. Likely twice fried I dipped them into the chili sauce that comes with the ban Chan and I would have been happy even without the soup. The steamed rice was perfect and sticky and easy to eat with chopsticks. The soup was simple and very much something that feels home cooked. They bring you a container of salt and pepper and you salt it yourself. I personally love that but I'm sure some people will under salt their dish and complain it was not good. The brisket in the soup was very tender and I felt like I was having a great but slightly decadent home cooked meal. I was really impressed with the service and quality. Every table has a call button with an alarm that's almost too loud for the atmosphere. But regardless , I was checked on more than enough to never feel like I needed to flag someone down. The prices were very reasonable and they have lunch options for a lot of the items on the menu. Definitely coming back to try more!
I was told that this was the best authentic Korean in San Diego, so off we went! The place itself is very modest and casual...but the menu was quite impressive. Although I'm a huge Galbi Jjim fan (and they seemed to specialize in this...and many other dishes!), we decided to go with what we thought was a lighter dish...the Pork Cutlet (Korean version of the Japanese Pork Katsu...which tends to be thinner, crispier even, with a tad spicier sauce). Well, we both ordered this dish...and it was enormous! Initially we were sure we could only eat half our plates, but as it went, we licked every bit of it off. Yes...THAT good!! We also added an app, Panko Fried Dumplings...which were good, but I thought it was a bit too heavy. Definitely didn't need this, given the size of our entrees. Service was just OK...but then, this place was VERY casual. Almost gave off this eatery vibe. San Diego isn't known for many Korean restaurants, but I'm so glad we decided to try this! read more

I really enjoy Woomiok when I'm feeling like a hearty pool of hot soup. Their broth is super rich and flavorful and it's the best place in San Diego for Korean comfort food. Other than the soups, I love getting their panko dumplings. It's actually my favorite thing on their menu even though it's an appetizer. It's so crispy and paired with their slight sweet and sour dipping sauce, it's perfection. I think the filling is mostly vegetables and glass noodles but I don't even notice the lack of meat because it feels so indulgent. The service is always good. They respond quickly and they also have buttons where you can call a waiter over when you're ready to order or check out. read more
The food was really good! Came here for the first time with my cousin. The dumpling soup was okay, nothing too special - it was a little too salty for me. The dumplings and the rice cakes were good but the broth was just meh. The meat was really flavorful and tender and I really liked it. I really enjoyed the sides as well. Some of the items on the menu are expensive and some are not but definitely shareable. Can't wait to go back and try something else! The service at times was difficult since they would rarely check up on us especially when we needed something but when we would ask them they were always attentive and super nice!! Caleb was especially nice!! He went out of his way and made us feel welcomed and he was just the best! The inside was nice! It was a decent size. They have tables and booths. Yummy! Between my friends and I, we got a few different things to try and there was something to love about all of it! The Galbi was insanely good and mouthwatering! I also really enjoyed their Scallion Pancake and loved how it had full pieces of shrimp rather than small cut-up pieces that you can't even taste. The only thing really lacking to me was the Bibimbop as it didn't have much flavor to it outside of the bulgogi on top. read more
Revisited for lunch. Parking lot is very difficult during lunch. Service was slow as I only saw one staff member. Took a long time to receive banchan/we got it minutes before our food came out. Tried: Fried tofu over rice bowl $17 - very hot stone bowl kept food very warm. Be sure to stir or rice will get crunchy at bottom. This is shareable, too much food for one person. Taste was good. Oxtail soup $24 - bland but that is on purpose as they give green onions and salt on the side to add to your taste. Banchan - kimchi and radish were spicier than I thought they would be. Had to waive staff down for water refill, check and box for food. Overall it was okay. Lunch pricing is great, recommend to visit during lunch. Portions are large. read more

With a packed parking lot and a long line out the door, I expected this place to serve exceptional Korean food. I honestly couldn't figure out the hype--perhaps there simply aren't many Korean dining options nearby. Unfortunately, the meal didn't live up to the wait. The spicy pork was overwhelmed with seasoning and far too spicy, masking the flavor of the meat itself. The dumpling soup was average at best, and the banchan lacked freshness and variety. The cold noodles tasted especially disappointing, almost as if they had been assembled from packaged ingredients rather than made in-house. Service was just okay. The restaurant was extremely loud, with kids running around and a constant sense of chaos, making it difficult to enjoy the meal. Cleanliness also left something to be desired, as the dining area didn't feel particularly well maintained. Considering the long wait, crowded atmosphere, and mediocre food, I wouldn't return. There are better Korean restaurants worth seeking out if you're looking for quality and authentic flavors. read more

I had the biggest craving for bossam and my bf and I decided to try this place. We were in the area and the reviews looked good. It was so worth it. The serving was more than enough for the two of us and fed us later as well. The sides were delicious and service was very fast. I want to come back to try the soups. It was also a great day because the World Cup was playing and everyone was having a great meal and screening. read more

My husband and I enjoyed a hearty, comforting lunch here during our trip to San Diego. The Korean food here is as authentic as it gets. We shared the beef short rib soup, cold noodles, and bulgogi (Korean style soy sauce marinated beef). Everything was very tasty, with my favorite dish being the beef short rib soup. This soup was filled with various ingredients and was delicious to eat. As for the cold noodles, it was flavorful and refreshing. For the bulgogi, I really liked that it was cooked with mixed vegetables like carrots, cabbage, onions, and green onions, making the dish more balanced. read more
We were in the area and wanted something yummy and soupy. So I found this place on Yelp and got on the Yelp waitlist right away. It was a Friday night and was so crowded! While waiting we studied the menu and everything smelled so good! We waited for a while because it was peak dinner time, prob at least an hour so be read to wait if you come during popular dining time. Food and service were great! It was fast and staff were attentive and super friendly! We got a spicy beef soup with vegetable and the emperor soup (beef one short ribs). We ordered an extra side of the beef short ribs and I think it was $15 extra. Overall soup got good flavor and the spicy beef soup was especially flavorful! Big fan of their spicy pork over rice in hot stone pot. We also got the galbi combo with spicy cold noodles, which was good. Their banchan is pretty decent. Beyond the food, I would recommend waiting inside if you're on the waitlist. When we were there, we saw the guy quietly go down the waitlist, and he didn't bother checking to see if the party was waiting outside. So anyone who waited outside would've been skipped. read more
Didn't expect to have Korean food while visiting San Diego but my wife and I came here on a Monday Lunch and we were immediately seated. Clean interior, very spacious and plenty of tables around. Parking - Free, in a large shared parking lot. Immediately, we were impressed with the service. They were friendly and quick which made the experience very enjoyable. We placed an order for a Naengmyeon (Cold noodles) combo which came with a plate of bulgogi, and we also ordered a Galbitang (beef short rib soup) to share. The Naengmyeon (cold noodles) were very delicious. Although presentation is similar to many other Korean restaurants, the noodles and broth was a huge standout. Other restaurants would use too much ice but not here. It was the perfect dish to start the meal. The bulgogi plate is a standout here, it was very well cooked and plated beautifully. None of the pieces including the complimenting vegetables were burnt or had any implications of any pieces being overcooked. It was very delicious and one of the best bulgogi plates I've ever eaten. Galbitang is pretty standard, beef wasn't super tough and was very enjoyable to eat. Love the portions and not too salty broth. Overall, one of the best Korean food spots in San Diego and certainly up there in my top Korean food spots. Excited to visit again whenever I'm in the area. Highly recommend Woomiok for authentic and tasty Korean food. read more

We had a group of 8 on a Friday at 5:30pm for dinner. And had no issue getting a table. But we did see a huge line outside waiting. Service was fast and friendly. The banchan was all tasty and had a punch of flavor. I got the Bulgogi Dolsot Bibimbap. The serving size was pretty big and the bowl was sizzling. The waitress had to point it out to me but bibimbap came with sauce you too with it. If she didn't say something I would of confused the sauce for something else. Woomiok is probably the best authentic korean restaurant I've been to in SD. Highly recommend. But keep in mind there will probably be a wait read more

Came back and again was wow-d. The food and service is always impressive and I'm happy I got to try new items. We got the spicy pork and bulgolgi bibimbaps and the spicy galbijim. Everything was great! I think the spicy pork bibimbap was the best. Galbijim was very good for shade with group of friends read more
Woomiok has a stylish, yet authentic, interior. Service was super friendly, and they specialize in traditional bone broth soup, seolleongtang. The side dishes here are very delicious, our meal came with japchae, radish kimchi, fish cake, and some fermented squid. My boyfriend and I ordered the Spicy Braised Short Rib in Stone Pot (매운 갈비찜) and the short rib was so tender, it practically fell off the bone! For an extra $5, they blow torch cheese on top of it. I loved the chewiness of the tteokbokki, and we really enjoyed the carrots and potatoes in the sauce. Next time, I will definitely try the seolleongtang, because the quality of the food and service was amazing! Woomiok will be one of my top Korean restaurant recommendations in San Diego. read more
Woomiok is a must try if you're in SD. I recommend going with a big group and doing family style to try different dishes. I know people love this place but honestly it's not my favorite. The staff is nice & friendly and it's always busy with customers. Today I had the oxtail soup and it was so plain with no flavor. I should have known by the picture it looked pretty bland but I was hopeful. The others in my party loved what they ordered. The sides are always the star of the show. Lots of options and they're great when you want more. Location is great and there's no charge to park in their parking lot. There's plenty of inside seating and the restaurant has an open area so it's seems much bigger. read more

Best Korean food I've had in San Diego honestly. The short rib dish was so insanely tender, the banchan was a good variety & delicious, the seafood pancake was stuffed to the brim and the LA galbi was so good. Really happy to have found this gem after trying a slew of mediocre Korean spots in convoy. read more

Our kids treated us to lunch at Woomiok, a cozy spot with an open ceiling and stylish, well-thought-out decor. The layout includes booths and tables without feeling cramped. Service was quick and friendly, and the call button at the table is a nice touch for getting staff attention during busy time. The menu offers everything from traditional Korean dishes to modern twists. For the 4 of us, we got the Emperor Beef Bone Soup Combo, which included galbijim, a seafood pancake, and two other dishes we chose: BBQ galbi and braised short rib in a stone pot. Everything arrived hot and flavorful, with unlimited side dish refills. Lunch was busy but the wait was short. Parking can be tight, so plan ahead. Do they make a good Japche? That's the dish with the glass noodles (my favorite) and prefer tofu with it, but its good with anything.
The Japche is really good. It's not greasy and it tastes healthy. I don't know if they substitute tofu, but you can ask. The staff there is accommodating.
