Table side pho soup pour over.
    Jackie B.

After driving into Kearny Mesa craving a good bowl of pho, Yelp led us straight into the chaos that is the Convoy parking lot -- survival alone deserves an appetizer. But once inside Pho Num, the place was such a vibe. Colorful flowers everywhere, cute decor, TVs playing Vietnam street food scenes, and late 90s/early 2000s R&B had me singing before the broth even arrived. Definitely date-night worthy. We ordered the Vietnamese egg coffee (SO good -- get the glass cup for the full aesthetic experience) and the lychee lemonade with free refills. Egg rolls were perfectly crispy and disappeared fast. I got the boneless short rib pho where they dramatically pour the scorching broth over the raw meat tableside -- delicious and honestly even better the next day. Loved that they didn't skimp on the garnishes either. My husband ordered the broken rice which came with a broth soup (be careful, it burnt my tongue-hate that feeling), let's just say asking for a "well done" egg turned it into something resembling a Brillo pad. Sorry Overall, solid 4 stars -- maybe 4.25 if Yelp allowed it. A little pricey ($20 pho hurts a little), menu is limited, and I personally like thicker noodles. But the broth, service, and vibes absolutely brought us back to life. We'll definitely be back.

I've been on the hunt for a reliable spot for Vietnamese comfort food, and Pho Nom absolutely delivers. If you're looking for a bowl of pho that feels like it came straight from a family kitchen, this is it. The star of the show is, unsurprisingly, the pho broth. It's incredibly clear but packed with deep, savory flavor--you can tell they don't rush the simmering process. I opted for the meatball and ribs pho and the beef was so tender, not that "rubbery" texture you find at some other spots. What really made the experience stand out, though, was the service. Our server, Danny, was fantastic. He was incredibly welcoming, quick with recommendations, and made sure we had everything we needed without being overbearing. It's rare to get such personalized, friendly service at a most businesses, and Danny really elevated the whole meal. The atmosphere is clean, bright, and modern, making it a great spot for a quick solo lunch or a casual sit-down dinner with friends.

Visit April 20226: This is a cute little restaurant that to me gives a dinner-date vibe. The decor is vibrant with a plethora of colorful faux plants. TV's show walking/riding tours of Vietnam which I actually found interesting as I ate. Service was fairly good. It was a one man show up when visited. Greeter, busboy, waiter, and cashier. It was early dinner time on a Wednesday but the traffic was already building up. Can't imagine what it would be like on a Friday or Saturday night. He was pleasant and did a fantastic job of taking care of the entire front. My wife and I shared their signature "Pho Nom" bowl. It was hearty coming with bone-in rib, sliced short rib, brisket, and a beef ball. The usual accoutrements of pho though they also add their own house satay sauce on the side. Tasty. The serve it and pour broth tableside which was kind of classy. Never had that done at a pho place. However, my wife and I thought the beef rib was a bit tough, and the noodles and broth were both solid though not spectacular where I wanted to 5-star it. We also ordered fresh spring rolls. Those were good. I would say Pho Nom is worth the visit and leave it up to you if it is a return trip place.

Finally got to try Pho Nom and I'm really glad I did. The moment you walk in, the space feels super clean and modern with a nice aesthetic. The menu is pretty simple and on the smaller side, which made me a little unsure at first, and I will say there aren't vegetarian options if that's something you need. I ordered the chicken egg rolls and the chicken pho. The egg rolls were crispy and really good, but the pho was the standout. I usually find chicken pho can be a bit plain, but this was actually super flavorful and comforting. The broth had a lot of depth, and the chicken was surprisingly tender and not dry or chewy at all. Service was smooth and everything came out quickly. Overall, it was a really solid experience and I'd definitely come back and recommend it.

Food: Pho Nom (7/10) - good broth and flavor and very aesthetic. it's not too salty either but the rib wasn't really tender. it was a bit hard but had good flavor. the noodles, beef, and meatballs were good Vietnamese Egg Coffee (0/10) - it didn't taste like egg or vietnamese coffee to me. i've had many viet egg coffees before and this doesn't taste like them? but maybe this is a personal taste. the color on the egg was also a lot lighter than i'm used to seeing. the coffee didn't have that strong vietnamese coffee taste to it. Service: Really nice and quick service! Ambiance: Super cute, floral, and green inside. Decorated really nicely and a small chill pho store type of vibe.

What a cute spot! You walk in and it's so beautifully decorated! The smell of the broth hits you instantly and makes your mouth water. One waitress does it all, so service is good but she's a one woman show so it's not super speedy. I would personally skip the shrimp spring rolls, there's nothing in them (just shrimp, noods, carrots, and a piece of lettuce) and we felt the shrimp was undercooked. Had to deduct a for this. BUT the reason it's still highly rated is the PHO! Delish! Broth was intensely flavored (little saltier than we've had in the past) but absolutely delicious. I got the pho nom soup and all the meat incredibly tender and wonderfully flavored. I would absolutely come back.

We've been here a few times. The pho is really good here.. very flavorful. We always share the Pho Nom.. it's HUGE! It's a bit pricey.. I think it's about $24 a bowl, but like I said.. it's HUGE! The first time we came here we ordered two separate bowls and we barely put a dent in them so the next time we knew better and shared. It comes with two humongous beef ribs and a TON of noodles, meat and meatballs. The soup is super (at first) hot but then it cools down very fast and gets soaked up by all the noodles... but it's still very good. We had to request for a little more soup. Their sate is not spicy at all, but it has very good flavor. One of my favorite pho places. The only down fall is the parking lot... it's too small and often packed.

The Pho here is pretty good, the broth alone has so much flavor that you don't even really have to add much to it, and the portion is huge. The chicken was cooked perfectly and food didn't take too long to come out either. The egg rolls were somewhat kinda basic and not worth its price. The area inside has very nice decorations and relaxing music making the stay very comfortable. The only thing that is kind of annoying is the prices but for what you get it's pretty clear why it's expensive.

Pho Nom, Eggrolls, Short Rib (Boneless) and Pomelo Bloom

Food: Pho Nom - was great! No complaints there. I enjoyed having the bone in back ribs, they were very flavorful and tender! A slight disappointment since there was no more chicken pho. Eggroll sauce and Vietnamese coffee tasted a little different than the traditional ones I'm used to. Serve: Was excellent, really nice staff. Ambience: Chill, modern, casual. Would recommend to a friend!

Tried this place for lunch and glad I did. I had the short-rib pho and it was delicious. The typo of noodles and beef was perfect and the atmosphere was very pleasant. The service was good too. Would come again for sure

This place has been on my "to try" list and I finally had the chance to try it. The location is within a plaza and there is parking but it can be difficult since it's usually busy. There are also street parking if there is none. The decoration in this place is very cute and I felt like a was in hoi a because of the lanterns. Our host/servers were Olivia and Eliana, they greeted us when walked in and quickly came to us when we were ready to order. The pho here was very flavorful and I felt like it cured my soul after a night out. I also got the egg coffee and it was phenomenal. I'm usually. Not a coffee person but this one was just the right sweetness and not too bitter. Highly recommend this place!

Come for the vibes, Good Food and service. We ordered the meatball and short rib pho with yummy Vietnamese coffee. Our server Hoang is awesome!

Beef noodle soup - excellent flavor overall, including a strong broth and a nice, soft texture to the noodles. Out of the countless Chinese restaurants I've visited for beef noodle soup, this makes its way into the top three. 5/5 Lamb skewers - wayyyyy too dry. This is certainly not their specialty, and asking for extra cumin to sprinkle on the lamb did not redeem the firmness. I struggled to slide the meat off the skewer and ended up just eating it while still on the stick. 1.5/5 Fish fillet - so good. Easy to eat texture-wise. Caution -- a bit saltier than it looks. The bell peppers in particular were seasoned spectacularly. 4.5/5 Dry fried green beans - a delicious option for vegetables to add to the table. Most people will enjoy this one in my opinion. A bit more crunch than I expected, which is not a bad thing. 4/5 Double cooked pork - I've never seen it cooked this way, and am not a fan. I'm used to a more oily version of this dish. It contained a bunch of dried and crunchy... yams? Potatoes? Overall, the dish was mainly crunch with no flavor, and contained a relatively small amount of pork. 1/5

If you're looking for something more relaxed, this is your spot. I enjoyed the subtle Japanese-inspired playlist in the background--it added to the overall ambiance without being distracting. The artwork gives the space a warm touch, especially the Bruce Lee painting. It feels like one of those places you can come back to regularly when you want something comforting and reliable. At first, she said the order only could be done on 1 bill. And then later she compromised with 2 bills, 5 people per table. That was nice of her! I just had 2 coffees before entering so I decided to skip ordering Thai tea. But they had a large drink menu, of fruit teas and more. My friend had the lychee tea which was very large and looked super refreshing! They also came by often to top off our waters which was nice. To eat, I ordered the $16.99~, Cashew Chicken Stir Fry with White Rice. It came with onion, green onion, carrots, zucchini, bell pepper, and cashews. The carrots were beautifully cut, but a little too crunchy for me to properly enjoy in the stir fry. Everything else was delicious! I think this could definitely be shared between 2-3 people. It was a lot for me, even after a large hike. The sauce was flavorful and not overly salty. I didn't ask for any spice level, but I think I'd choose mild or medium next time. My friends ordered-- - $12.99, Dirty Fried Chicken: This had a blitz coating of lime, mint, and spices. And it was decorated with thinly sliced green onions with a side of sweet chili sauce. The chicken was hot and plump, not dry, and very much mouthwatering! Would recommend. - $14.99, Thai Grilled Chicken Salad: Grilled Chicken Breast on a bed of mixed green salad, carrots, and cucumbers with peanut dressing. It reminded me a little of chicken satay~ it smelled and looked incredible. I think I might order it next time, when I want something light and fulfilling after a hike. - $11.99, Cream Cheese Avocado Wontons (6PC): These came out piping hot and when you took a bite they were oozing. It was very creamy and when you dip into the plum sauce it's a delectable bite. A nice appetizer to share with the table. - $16.99-$19.99 (depends on what protein you get), Pad Thai: This proportion was manageable for one person. The restaurant used thin rice noodles, but it didn't clump excessively compared to other restaurants. The prices are what you'd typically see at a Pan-Asian restaurant, a few dollars more than what you'd want to spend. But these kinds of restaurants, in my opinion, are for enjoying with others. So, if you're sharing food and all that-- the price is worth it (esp with the quantity that is given). Next time, I would probably order one of their noodle dishes rather than rice.
