Super tender and flavorful. Broth was just as good and perfect to dip or pour on. Came during lunch so plenty of seating and no wait. Can not wait to come back again

The food was great. Every item we ordered tasted good; Short Rib Banh Mí, Banh Xeo, Vermicelli, Short Rib Pho, drinks. They all tasted great. Biggest issue was the restaurant being understaffed, slow service. When we arrived in the morning there were only about 2 tables of customers with 1 host/waiter. It's not his fault he was the only one available to wait on tables. We were some of the first people to order, but received a lot of our food and drinks after the customers who arrived much later than us. So we would see the other customers receive their bowls of pho before us eating and finishing, there were probably about 10 other tables being served. I also had to get up several times just to ask for items like small plates and bowls. We drove from the Chula Vista so about 40+ minutes. Probably not going to visit again, unless we were in the area for another reason. Hope no one else has the same experience.

Pho Time is a locally owned Vietnamese fusion restaurant that has been around the neighborhood for almost two decades now. It's located in an internal corner suite of the PB Plaza with updated external signage since the last time I visited. Parking in the shared lot can be difficult when the neighboring businesses are operating during their normal hours. The dining area had enough seating for close to 100 customers, but it was less than half occupied when I came for dinner. I sat at a booth not far from the entrance. The bench seating was a bit awkward because the seat cushion kept raising up if I leaned forward. After perusing the menu booklet, I decided on items that were different than my typical choices of spring rolls, pho, or bun. I started with the Grilled Sugar Cane Shrimp as an appetizer. This was minced shrimp meat cooked on a sugar cane skewer, of which there were a pair on the dish. A sweet chili dipping sauce and some lettuce leaves came with the order. The item was like a shrimp meatball except shaped as an oval. The flavor was good and enhanced by the sauce. I also picked the Garlic Noodles with Shaken Beef. The noodles came on a separate plate while the grilled filet mignon cubes were served on a hot cast iron skillet. Bell peppers and white onions accompanied the meat on the cow-shaped skillet. The cubes were slightly overcooked, but the more concerning aspect was the oil that pooled up on one end of the cast iron. The noodles were cooked without any sauce, just garlic seasoning applied. I don't know if there was some contamination, but I detected an acrid odor versus a pungent garlic flavor. The food was prepared fairly quickly by the kitchen, and both items arrived simultaneously. I liked the appetizer much better than the entree. The worker who served me was pleasant and helpful. I gave a 3.5 star rating for my latest dining experience at Pho Time.

I came here for the first time around 8pm and was seated right away. I got an order of egg rolls and house pho. Everything was delicious. Service was ok. I had to ask for more water and waited for my bill for a while. I'd come back though.

Firstly, there is a designated parking lot which makes dining here so convenient. Service was attentive and friendly! I tried the Tim's House pho and the filet mignon shaking beef hot plate with garlic noodles. The pho was jam packed with meat which I appreciated! The broth was also very flavorful and dank, a touch on the sweeter side for me. Really enjoyed the pho that felt very nourishing. The filet mignon shaking beef came hot and sizzling, where the smell of garlic was irresistible!! The beef was perfectly cooked where it was tender and not dry. It was super flavorful and loved the onions and the bell peppers which were the perfect complement. I loved that the garlic noodles were loaded with garlic as it should be!!! I would definitely come back for both dishes but some other authentic Vietnamese dishes I'm eager to try since their flavors were on point for both my dishes!

Food! 10! Service! 10! Ambience! 10! We're both looking for something on a nice Saturday afternoon while we were in San Diego and came across this location. It was close by our hotel Paradise point so we decided to stop in and we were both very happy. Right when we walked in, the restaurant was very clean with lots of seatings and very open and airy. Decor was nicely done with lots of paintings and the BF even said there was some paintings in the men's restroom. We both love art, so this was a plus for us to dine and was able to admire all the beautiful pieces. We ordered pho and the fried rice with ribeye, omg the broth was perfect and so was the fried rice, ribeye was cooked medium rare and tasted oh so delicious. We also ordered the lychee and coconut coffee, both were amazing! Restaurant is in a large plaza so plenty of parking spaces. When we come back to SD, we definitely will be back. Did I mention service was 100% great here.

Great family owned restaurant. Amazing pho and spring rolls! Nice workers and a family friendly layout. Highly recommend. Today I ordered #41 very yummy!

I've finally ventured out of southeast San Diego for some pho, and although I thought nothing would compare, this spot killed it! I always have to test the broth first, and they passed with flying colors. They incorporate wagyu into a few of their dishes and it's worth it. It's melt-in-your-mouth good! Everything tastes super fresh. And huge shoutout to their drinks!! I would come back just for their drinks. The coconut matcha was my favorite, and I'm not even a matcha person like that. Their fruit teas are great, refreshing options. I like that you can actually taste the tea over the fruit flavors. Highly recommend!

We did the number 1 pho and number 2 pho, there so delicious!!!

My friend wanted to try the famous sizzling filet mignon steak plate, but I was glad to see plenty of other great options here too. Here's my experience: AMBIANCE: Parking: Plaza parking--no real issues, even at lunchtime. Seating: Comfortable inside seating, good for pairs, mid-sized groups, or even larger gatherings. Vibes: Welcome to the inner parts of Pacific Beach. You won't see the ocean from here, but you're still in the neighborhood. The spot itself is inviting, with art and décor highlighting Hanoi culture. Lite rock played in the background, which kept the lunch flow easy and relaxed. Overall, it feels like a great place for a casual food adventure--solo or with friends. FOOD/DRINKS: Coconut Matcha (Recommend) Beautifully presented. Earthy matcha paired with tropical coconut sweetness makes for a smooth, refreshing drink--perfect on a hot day. Rice Vermicelli - Grilled Pork (Recommend) A fulfilling bowl that hits the essential Vietnamese flavor notes. The pork was marinated in lemongrass, garlic, fish sauce, and sugar--sweet, savory, and umami all at once. Fresh herbs (mint, basil, cilantro) and cucumber added brightness and kept it light. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Friendly staff who kept things moving smoothly--our orders came out quickly and with a smile. TL; DR OVERALL: 4 Stars. Awesome! Good food, fair prices, and a pleasant experience. Sure, you can find incredible Vietnamese food in Normal Heights or Chula Vista, but this spot definitely holds it down in Pacific Beach. I'm curious to come back for more drinks and dishes. Cảm ơn (thank you)! #RepresentAZN TIPS: * Too many good choices--bring a friend so you can share and sample more dishes!

Woven vermicelli with shrimp sugarcane // bun cha Ha Noi platter
    Lisa N.

I was actually pretty impressed at how good the food was. Being Vietnamese I'm pretty selective on the quality of Vietnamese dishes. This spot had a good selection of items to choose from. Service and staff were amazing! They truly care about the quality of food and service. I can definitely tell by the joy on their faces. Ambiance is so chill and nice. Interior is beautiful and bright with the high ceilings. Located in a shopping plaza with plenty of parking. I ordered the woven vermicelli with shrimp sugarcane. My family ordered the bun cha Ha Noi and loved it. It was overall a solid and satisfying meal. Presentation is wonderful. I would totally come back here and recommend others.

We…read morereceived a text saying our number was ready for seating, and my husband and I walked into the restaurant within five minutes. Once inside, we stood there for about 15 minutes, and not one employee acknowledged us or asked if we were waiting to be seated. There appeared to be no hostess managing the front or any clear process for letting someone know that your number had been called. Eventually, I told my husband to flag down a waiter just to find out what was going on and how we were supposed to alert someone that we were there. When he finally spoke with an employee, we were told that our number had been called and that after five minutes they considered us a "no-show." That explanation made absolutely no sense because we had been standing inside the restaurant for at least 15 minutes, and during that entire time, we never heard anyone call a number or a name for ANYONE. To claim we were a no-show when we were physically standing there waiting to be acknowledged was extremely frustrating. Unfortunately, things didn't improve much from there. I'm from Dallas, Texas, where we have plenty of great Vietnamese restaurants, so I know what good pho and Vietnamese food should taste like. Unfortunately, this experience fell short. I ordered the chicken pho, and my husband ordered the bbq pork vermicelli. For appetizers, we ordered the egg rolls and the pork paste spring rolls. I did enjoy the pork paste spring rolls, but the egg rolls were very greasy and tasted like they had been re-fried. My chicken pho was also disappointing. The noodles were cut in half and were so mushy that they practically disintegrated in the broth. The service was also lacking, and the staff did not come across as particularly friendly or welcoming. While the pork paste spring rolls was a bright spot, the overall quality of the food and service left a lot to be desired. Don't believe the hype.

Today, it's one of the most well-known Vietnamese restaurants in the city, and after this visit, I can definitely see why. One of my favorite things about coming here is the location. Even though it's right in Convoy, parking has never been an issue for me. I usually avoid the area because finding a spot can be a headache, but Phuong Trang has a large parking lot that makes stopping by so much easier. I came in for a quick takeout lunch. One thing to know before you go is they don't accept Apple Pay, so make sure to bring a physical card or cash. The staff was incredibly welcoming. They greeted me when I walked in, gave me plenty of time to look over the menu, and never made me feel rushed. That kind of hospitality really stood out. I ordered the Char-Grilled Beef Vermicelli and the Shrimp, Pork & Jellyfish Salad. The salad comes with shredded green papaya, celery, cucumber, carrots, shrimp, pork, jellyfish strips, fresh mint, crushed peanuts, and shrimp chips. The salad was refreshing with plenty of shrimp and jellyfish throughout. I especially liked the crunch from the green papaya. My only complaint was that the dressing felt a little one dimensional. I wish it had a little more brightness to bring out the fresh herbs and vegetables. It was still enjoyable, though. The Char-Grilled Beef Vermicelli was my favorite of the two. It came with vermicelli noodles, fresh herbs, pickled daikon and carrots, crushed peanuts, plus five grilled beef rolls wrapped around scallions. The beef had a delicious smoky flavor from the grill. The only downside was that the inside of the rolls was a little chewy since it didn't get the same char as the outside. Even so, every bite was packed with flavor, so it wasn't enough to take away from the dish. Between the friendly service, quick turnaround for takeout, and solid food, I can see why Phuong Trang has stayed so popular for all these years. I'd happily come back and keep working my way through their menu.

Service: Great, the servers check in a decent amount of the time and you can usually flag them down if you need anything Food: This is where my review goes downhill. The only thing I would say is worth getting at this restaurant is the baguette with butter (no add-ons, caviar or whatever they have going on at the time -- its just not worth it -- when I got the black truffle on my butter the shavings were so thin they might as well have not been there since it made no difference in flavor) The tamarind wings are one dimensional -- the wings are fried well, but lack in flavor, its straight *overwhelming* tamarind with no other notes. House made egg noodles lack any sort of noticeable flavor, most of it stemming from the Lap Cheong but most definitely not worth the price tag that it holds ($36) The dry aged duck is where I feel the most "scammed out of". Ive gotten this both times i've been here. Both times its been overly salty. I understand its dry-aged, but the saltiness overtakes any other flavor of the duck. The sauces try to make up for the lack of flavor but they just cant carry the entire dish on their own -- especially not for a $100 price tag. The first time I ordered this dish (Jan 2026) the duck came out cold-warm, and the second time I came here (July 2026) it came out warmer.
