Thank you for accommodating all 12 of us when we suddenly walked in! I was thinking we could sit split up, but they put 3 tables together for us. Very kind of the man at the third table to move-- crying at his kindness because he didn't have to move while eating. I've eaten at a different spot in the same complex, but never had Pho Minh before. I think I'll start coming here more often, the prices are pretty good and it seems like it's a family run business. I really wanted bun rieu, but it looks like a sharing size bowl-- and I'm pretty certain everyone at my table wanted pho. So, I ordered a Pho Bo Vien, Regular Bowl ~$13. And Cafe Sua (Ca Phe Sua Da/ Iced Vietnamese Coffee) ~$5. They give a large amount of pho noodles! I couldn't finish it myself and brought half of it home for dinner. The broth was delicious, not too fragrant! If you want nuoc beo, there's no upcharge (my friend wanted it). My iced Vietnamese coffee came out very delicious, with notes of chocolate. It's strong and I love that they used crushed ice. I could tell they dripped this themselves rather than using Lee's Coffee Concentrate-- so hats off to them! My other friends ordered: Pho Ga, Pho Tai, Goi Cuon, Mi Quang, etc. They gave us sharing plates of herbs-- basil, lime, jalapeños, and lots of beansprouts. I love how fresh all of them were! Beef rib pho Service Pho Minh has solid pho, but the service definitely needs work. Don't expect much interaction--just walk in, grab a menu yourself, and order at the counter. The kid working there was mostly on his phone and didn't seem aware he was on the clock. That said, the beef rib pho is pretty good, and the quality is on par with other pho spots in the area. Came here today for lunch and was blown away by the flavors. The salt and pepper chicken wings were crispy tasty goodness. Some of the best pho I have ever tasted. Big chunky bits of brisket. I had the Bun Ca turmeric fish soup and it was also absolutely delicious. Our server was friendly and informative. The pho broth here is quite good and flavorful. It isn't bland like some other places. I do like that they give you culantro and rice paddy herb for the pho and not only basil. It does make the pho more flavorful. Service was standard for a mom and pop I feel. The only thing that I didn't like was the pho rice noodles. Not sure if I got the noodles towards the end of the bag or if it's the brand that they use. The noodle strands are short and looked more fallen a part. I am not a fan of the Sincere Orient pho rice noodles brand since they tend to fall apart so the noodles aren't long. I think it might the brand that they're using. I have been coming to this place for years and it's about time I give them a 5 star review! This pho is SPECIAL! You literally feel the love and healing in every bite! I've eaten probably 100 bowls by now, and it never disappoints. Hands down my favorite pho spot in all of SD. Authentic, quality, variety, fresh, tasty and delicious! Their soups and stir frys are hits and are popular dishes, ones you can't find anywhere in City Heights, East County or Southbay areas. This family owned restaurant is a hidden gem. You will be lured into ordering dishes you've never tried before because the pictures on the menu look so good. You may also start venturing off in trying different types of foods you've never eaten before based on how Pho Minh prepares their dishes. Early last year, I was introduced to Pho Minh by my daughter. She constantly raved about all the assortments of soups she had tried at this place. She goes on to tell me that the fried calamari and fried tofu (both perfectly seasoned) will not disappoint. So, go figure, today, I am a fan of Pho Minh's tofu dish and have gotten others to like tofu too ! Likes: vermicelli chicken (and pork) spring rolls combo, egg rolls, salt&pepper chicken wings, pho rib, honey walnut shrimp, rice plate combos, mi quang, bun rieu, bun ca...these are just to name a few Dislikes: lack of parking space and tight parking stall size A 12-mile drive to Pho Minh in El Cajon Blvd is worth it. In fact, last week having lunch one day wasn't good enough. The family and I ended up doing a part 2 and made it back to Pho Minh the following day ! My favorite Vietnamese restaurant in SD. They have a smaller location in PB that is also great, but the menu here has more options. My husband is Vietnamese, and we like to come here when we're in the mood for some good comfort food. Don't tell his grandma, but the food here is even a little better than what she makes. Everything we've had here has been great, but some of our favorites are: -Bun ca: I've never seen this before and it is phenomenal! My favorite thing on the menu. The fish is cooked perfectly, the broth is delicious, and the whole dish is very light. -Bun rieu: brings me right back to Hanoi. -Salt n pepper chicken wings: my favorite chicken wings in SD. -Dau hi chien gion: to be honest, I think these are just as good as the chicken wings, which shows how phenomenal this tofu dish is. I love the onion and chili flakes. Of course, the veggie egg rolls, goi cuon tom, and pho are also great! I had dinner here with my family after the SD zoo and it is the best PHO location we've had in San Diego California. It is a small location but family owned, very authentic and just really good. The service is quick and the workers accommodate to what you want. I do have to say chili oil is extremely spicy but, yummy. I would recommend the appetizers, crab cream puffs and egg-rolls before your PHO. read more

We were excited to try Pho Minh but it wasn't great for a number of reasons. We ordered a pork banh mi, their goi cuon, and a bun bo hue. The pork banh mi was fine; pork was tasty and it was a decently sized sandwich for $7. The goi cuon was standard and a bit pricey at $6. Their bun bo hue was a disappointment; $13, lacked flavor, and very little of the normal accompaniments, like blood and pork knuckle. Service was also a big miss. When we first walked in, there was no one in the restaurant. We stood around for a few minutes, and when no one showed up, we grabbed menus from the front table and seated ourselves. About 5 minutes later, an employee showed up, saw that we had sat down, brought us 2 glasses of water, and left again. We then waited over 10 minutes for her to come back to take our order. After finally placing our order, our food took a really long time to come out. In the meantime, an older Vietnamese couple came in, sat down, placed their order, and received their food, all while we continued to wait. When we were done eating, we flagged the employee down again and asked for a small box and our check. She came back with both and then never returned. I had to get up and walk our credit card to the front of the restaurant and try to get her attention from the kitchen in the back for her to charge our card. Parking in Pho Minh's plaza is also a disaster. We had to circle multiple times before we got lucky and found a spot, and as we were leaving, there was a line of cars causing a huge backup waiting for us to leave to take our spot. Given the plethora of other delicious Vietnamese restaurants in the area (with better parking as well), I won't be back. read more

What a gem! I stopped here after work to get some chicken pho. I found out about the restaurant from my student! Her mother is the owner. The pho was perfectly cooked with all the fixings on the side (bean sprouts, lime, cilantro, etc). I got my order to go and took it home to enjoy. To go service was fast and efficient! Pho Minh is located in City Hieghts off El Cajon BLVD in San Diego's Little Saigon Neighborhood. We dropped in on a weekend and it was fairly crowded with people coming in and out for food to go. We were seated right away and placed our food orders. I went ahead and got the Pho tai chin nam which had rare thinly sliced steak with cuts of brisket. The food came out quick and looked stunning! The first thing I noticed was fat from the bone floating on top of the broth and how well the bowl was beautifully garnished with thinly sliced white onions, green onions and cilantro. I went ahead and squirted my lime into the broth added my bean sprouts and tore some fresh Thai basil in and gave it a swish with my chopsticks and slurped the broth! The broth was very light packing with flavor but couldn't distinguish the spices in it such as the star anise, cloves, cinnamon but still tasted great. The meat was nicely packed in and the brisket tasted great and had thick cut slabs. I like to enjoy my broth with no hoison and Sriracha but like to squirt some sauce in a separate bowl for my meat. The noodles weren't your typical banh pho tuoi noodles but were flat rice noodles so that change was great and quite tasty. Customer service and food was great but my only complaint was the MSG! I felt so thirsty afterwards I just wanted to drink a gallon of water due to my mouth being so dry and felt tired. This new branch of Pho Minh is tucked into a narrow strip mall within the City Heights/Talmadge neighborhood. The last time I visited this suite, I believe the shop was mainly selling banh mi sandwiches, snacks, and desserts. The parking lot here is so narrow and tight while the side streets are not much better. A take-out menu was posted on the window of the doors to the business. The selection of bun (vermicelli noodles) dishes was small, and none of them had the proteins or toppings that I wanted. I decided to pick one of their most popular choices in the Com Bo Luc Lac ("Shaking Beef" Rice). The cubed portions of filet mignon were very tender and seasoned well. They rested on a bed of grilled onions next to a large scoop of white rice. The top part of the take-out container was filled with carrots, cucumbers, lettuce, and tomatoes. The kitchen prepared the food in about 10 minutes. The girl who took my order was kind and pleasant. Overall, I rated this experience at Pho Minh with four stars. read more

I picked up some Bun Cha Gio to go from this Vietnamese Eatery. Their third location in San Diego I believe. The Bun was $10 and some change. The vermicelli was well prepared and offered the right texture. The BBQ pork was tender and tasted quite good. I liked that the bun came with a lot of crushed peanuts and veggies. All the ingredients were fresh and tasty. The fish oil and Vietnamese hot sauce were both very good. Oh yes, the Vietnamese egg rolls were terrific. They were crispy and filled with a lot of goodies. The prices aren't listed on the menu so they could essentially charge whatever they want. The menus are so old and different pieces. If they cut costs this extremely with yucky old menus, where else do they cut corners? You have no idea what you're getting charged. The egg rolls had a weird scent or ingredient that I wasn't a fan of. The pho broth was not good. No star anise or pho flavor but rather a weird flavor. The meat proportions were good. The marinated pork chop was very tasty. The spring rolls aren't rolled super tight so it came loose while eating. The service was slow even though we were the only table there at the time.
