The place inside is well decorated and a cozy feel. The popcorn chicken had nice flavor that wasn't too salty or powdery, but I wish it was just a tad bit crunchier. The cucumbers were refreshing and a good appetizer. I did think the beef in the noodle soup was a little tough and dry that made it hard to chew through. The pork over rice was a little on the saltier side for me and not as much pork compared to the amount of rice they gave. The service was very attentive and timely. Overall a decent place to give a try!
When I think about formoosa, I only have positive memories, from the simple menu to the open counter layout. For Convoy, it's a unique dining experience if you want to enjoy solid Taiwanese food. Due to the limited seating, always expect to wait 15-20 minutes, or even more. But once you get in, you are welcomed with a QR code menu. Service was limited, out refill on water couldn't come soon enough, and the only time we got their attention was for the check. Didn't seem like the people working wanted to be there. The food was good! The beef rolls were delicious and a perfect blend of textures (crispy, juicy, crunchy) and flavors (sweet, savory, fresh). The mazemen smelled heavily of bonito flakes and was a little overpowering in general. However, the spicy wontons were pricey for the quantity, was too vinegary, and not spicy enough. The pork over rice was, quite frankly, bland and dry. I had to add the chili sauce from the wontons to the rice dish, which I highly recommend. formoosa is definitely worth a try at least once. If not for the food, come for the experience and ambiance at least.

The cucumber salad was simple but really flavorful. The popcorn chicken was light and crispy with fresh basil you could taste in every bite, so good it didn't even need the sauce! The beef noodle soup stole the show with rich broth, thick noodles, lots of green onion, and a surprisingly generous amount of beef. We also had the hot chrysanthemum tea, which was delicious. Portions were great too, we even took some popcorn chicken home. Prices were very fair for everything we ordered. Parking can be tough in Convoy, but that's expected. Such a great find and we'll definitely be back!

Just a heads-up if you are driving: parking is tough. They have a small lot that is usually packed tight through the lunch and dinner rushes, so be prepared to hunt for a spot.
A classic Taiwanese restaurant in a busy plaza, we decided to try this place out. We ordered the Taiwanese beef noodle soup and chili wontons- they were nothing special. Granted, the beef was tender, but the flavor profile was quite flat... I've had better. The chili wontons also tasted more vinegary than the chili oil flavor, not a big fan. Overall the dishes were okay. Service is friendly and the interior is clean and well-decorated with options for bar seating or some tables. Parking is a real hassle especially on the weekends but pro tip: park in the side streets for free. Came here with my wife and daughter for dinner. We had a craving for beef noodle soup and the beef roll. Wound up getting those plus cucumbers, mazesoba, and a couple of "cocktails". The beef roll is the best we've had in San Diego, the beef noodle soup is too. The noodles have great texture, the beef is flavorful and the broth is great. The cocktails are soju based so are lighter and a little sweeter. The staff is always so sweet to my toddler and the service is solid. It's a casual place that mostly has bar seating so don't expect fine dining service. It's very attentive, direct, and you have all you need without the pomp and circumstance.

Everyone knows parking in convoy is terrible especially on a Friday night. The parking lot in this shopping center in also terrible. But that's all I'll say for parking 1/5 When we arrived there was just a short wait, roughly about 10minutes but it was fine because it gave us time to go through the menu. We got bar seating which was a nice vibe and plenty of table space to eat. Great lighting and also great customer service. The staff was friendly and very helpful, always making sure we were ok. I got the Taiwanese beef noodle soup which was so good. There are two options for noodles, Wavy noodles or classic straight noodles. I picked Wavy noodles and it worked out well and was delicious. The portion size is huge, I couldn't finish it so I packed it to go. The beef was torched to give it a Smokey taste. We also got the Popcorn chicken and that was also a huge portion! Came here after our 1st option didn't workout and I believe it was meant to be. The only downside to this location is the parking can get a little rough but it's so worth it. The vibe of the restaurant is super modern with mostly bar seating. The service was great super attentive and helpful when I asked for recommendations. Now the important part the food, I ordered the Taiwan mazesoba off recommendation between that and the Sesame noodles. The flavor was delicious the egg yolk added such a good creaminess to the dish so it is important to mix well. My boyfriend ordered the pork over rice which to be honest was our favorite, the flavor was PERFECT and we're both suckers for a jammy egg. This place already has amazing reviews but I'm just glad I can contribute in saying how delicious it is! read more

This place has a chill vibe. Jay Chau music videos on the screen. Minimal seating and most of it is at the bar. They take reservations but not for same day. Walked in early dinner on Saturday and there's no wait. Popcorn chicken. Pretty large portion and the $14.5 starts to make more sense. Doesn't have the crispy exterior like you're used to. Spicy beef noodle soup. Good chewy texture on the noodles. Broth is not as deep as I'm used to but is salted well. Came to formoosa with a couple of friends. I know a terrible parking experience is expected in Convoy, but formoosa is on a whole other level. The parking lot layout is odd, small, and tight, with heavy foot traffic, so expect to struggle during peak hours. formoosa itself is a pretty solid spot. The inside looks very clean and modern, and the decor makes the place feel very bright and inviting. It was not crowded at all when we arrived around 5 PM on a Tuesday. There are QR codes on the table that you can scan to view the menu on your phone. FOOD: My friends and I had mixed reviews about the food. One friend got the pork over rice and said the pork oddly tasted more like beans than meat. My other friend got the sesame noodles and enjoyed them. Taiwanese Mazesoba (3.75/5) - Tasted good and had a nice snappy texture. The flavor itself felt pretty one-dimensional and was on the salty side, even after a good mix. It felt like it was missing an element of something I couldn't quite pinpoint. I'm not mad about it, though. Scallion Pancakes (4/5) - Crispy and flaky. Came with a dipping sauce made of what I think was vinegar, chili oil, and a kind of soy sauce. SERVICE: The service was great and attentive. Waters were kept filled, and they checked up on us often. We ordered the Taiwanese Beef Roll, Chili Wontons, and Sesame Noodles. The beef roll was the standout by far - 1000% would order again. Super flavorful, great texture, and honestly the highlight of the meal. The chili wontons weren't spicy whatsoever and were just okay for me, and the sesame noodles were decent but didn't stand out compared to the beef roll. Service was friendly and efficient, and James and Aiden were holding down the fort and doing a good job keeping everything running smoothly. Service 5/5 -Friendly staff and water was served as soon as we sat down, attentive overall. Food 5/5 -Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup $20.5, SO GOOD, wow the beef was so tender and soup was so flavorful and soothing! I liked the straight noodles more than wavy noodles because it felt denser, bouncier and just more similar to the ones I've had in Taipei. Loved the soft boiled egg and just overall PORTION SIZE, the big bowl of noodles is exactly what I look for every time I want noodles. Never change this please. They also torch it lightly before serving to give a smokey taste, I think it's a nice touch of detail. -Popcorn chicken $14.5, crispy and fragrant, very yummy no notes. -Lychee 101 $11.5 and Poomelo $11.5, both drinks were delicious!! Genuinely amazed at how good everything here was! The menu is small and they've seemed to perfect every item on it. My personal favorite was the Taiwanese beef rolls. The scallion pancake was perfectly sweet and savory with such flavorful and juicy beef inside. The cucumber added the perfect crunch. The pork over noodles was fantastic and packed with flavor. I was craving for some good Taiwanese food and stumbled upon this spot on Yelp. It caught my eye because they had some happy hour deals going on even on a Friday afternoon! Their weekday happy hour is from Mon-Friday from 2-5pm. There were select appetizers and drinks on the happy hour menu that I really wanted to try, so we headed on over. The parking lot is kinda small and shared with multiple establishments. We went on an off hour but even then, there were only a couple spots left. I love a good mazemen so I figured it was a similar dry noodle concept but with Taiwanese flavors and different noodle type. It was actually pretty good and even though I'm a die hard Taiwanese Beef Noodle soup girl, I found myself eating more of the mazesoba. This is perfect for those that aren't craving something soupy but want some flavorful noodles. I really liked that they added generous amounts of fried basil with the popcorn chicken...that's how they do it in Taiwan to make the snack more fragrant. I'm always sad when there is little to none fried basil with my popcorn chicken..portions were also very generous, no change in portion size just because it is happy hour. Overall, love the weekday happy hour deals and the generous portions. Pricing is average, but definitely take advantage of the weekday happy hour if you can. An amazing place I've been coming for a while. Their Taiwanese noodle soup is amazing and their beef roll is top notch. If you can, go for the wavy noodles. The Taiwanese noodle has depth, flavor and soft squishy noodles. Recently I went and our server Aden took care of us by recommending the popcorn chicken and wontons. The portions are far too small for the price. The wonton soup had only a few wontons despite costing almost $20, which felt like poor value. The food also didn't taste like authentic Taiwanese cuisine. The flavors were unusual and not very enjoyable. The wontons tasted like inexpensive frozen supermarket wontons rather than freshly made ones, and the sauce lacked depth and flavor. The braised pork over rice was overly salty but still lacked richness. The pickled cucumbers seemed under-pickled and tasted bland. Overall, I was disappointed with both the quality and value of the meal and would not recommend this restaurant. read more

No. Only eight table top seats, two tables that seat 2, and one table that seats 4. All the rest of the chairs are seats at the bar.
Are the sesame balls vegan? Any vegan options?
based on my experience, sesame balls are made out of red bean or yellow bean paste covered in sticky rice dough coated with sesame and deep fried. better to look at the inderigent lists if they are vegan pr not as there are different vegan…
