We wanted to grab something with soup near Westfield UTC before heading back to LA. We chose this place because the pork belly presentation was amazing on Yelp. I never had Korean marinated pork belly before so why not... When we arrived, the place was pretty empty. I think there was only one party. We were hesitant to enter, but because it looked pretty nice inside, we walked in. Halfway thru our meal, a lot more people came in. When we were done, it was a full house. We ordered 4 items: Kimchi Jjigae $19 - The soup was good, but it was a bit pricey. Chadol Yukgaejang $20 - this soup came with beef briskets, veg, and clear noodles. This one tasted similar to the Kimchi Jjigae, but less spicy. Bossam Pamuchim $26 - this one stole the show for the night. The flavor was immaculate! It was so tender with just the right amount of fats. The sauce was delicious. Would totally get this again. Bulgogi $24 - this was a bit pricey as well. It was also way too sweet. If the sweetness cut down in half, it would be good. Service was ok. A bit slow since there was only one gal..she had to take orders, serve the foods, and take care of the checks. Kinda crazy to have only one staff working in the front on the weekend. Parking avail RR avail

food: Bossam (9.5/10) - such a big portion! the pork belly was very tender and had a nice marinated sauce with it. the sauce wasn't overpowering and drenching the pork belly either. it was tasty! loved the banchan and everything else to eat all together in a bite as well. loved the spicy kick from the jalapeños! Chadol Yukgaejang (9/10) a such a shareable portion size and loaded with noodles, meat, and flavor. it's supposed to be spicy but for someone who loves spice i think this was very mild and not that spicy so that's really up to preference. Corn cheese (9/10) - pretty tasty and on the house! sometimes corn cheese separates between the oil or butter but this was made pretty decently. it was cheesy yet not separated. the flavor was nice too Service: The service is pretty helpful. It was my first time and they explained items well and were really nice. Ambiance: The night vibe is definitely a vibe with the decor and dim lit setting. The moon even glows at night. It's a small but casual and chill place to grab korean comfort food.

After an EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING experience trying to get to the diner inside the Lafayette Hotel, we were now scrambling to find a late night eatery around 11 PM. We saw that Dalbam Moon Night was open and halfway through our meal we hit last call, so it was cutting it pretty close but we were able to get seated at a table and the place was packed. Late night K food goes hard, especially if you want some nice greasy or junk food-y dishes with some soju or beer. Service was efficient and I like the wooden look with the K pop celebs advertising the alcohol. Classic. For our super late night dinner, we got the: 1) Bulgogi Fries: -Easy to eat and massive amount of food for what you get. In hindsight, probably shouldn't have ordered this since it's a more common dish and fries aren't that good when they go cold and stale. Since we were tourists going home the next day, we couldn't eat the massive amount of leftovers we had from this. RIP. I'll keep this in mind next time. -This comes with crispy fries topped with marinated beef and melted cheese. You get the sweet spicy kick and they don't skimp out on the beef too. Definitely a junky snack food type appetizer making it easy to share especially with how much they give you. 2) Bossam: -Comes with the bossam, lots of jalapenos and garlic, sliced green onions and ssamjang dipping sauce. Nice cold dish to balance out the heavier dishes that we got. 3) Spicy Cheese Samgyupsal: -Comes out sizzling hot with all the cheese on top. It's stir fried pork belly with cheese. Nice spicy, yet sweet kick to it. Loved the crispy bits of the pork bell. Can eat it on its own but definitely tastes better accompanied with rice. We also got a side of rice to go with all of the protein that we ordered and we also got some small kimchi, fishcake, and slaw banchan. Solid Korean drinking and drinking food spot, even if you don't drink like me. Appreciate the generous portions and the later hours here. Not bad. I think you might have to pay for parking but we didn't even see that until we left and we were there super late. Whoopsies.

Cold, rainy night and this was the only place that was open late! Parking was interesting - it was a full lot and you have to pay for it through an app/QR code. The restaurant has a free 90 minute parking if you're a patron. It was a cute, yet dark restaurant. Booths were towards the sides with cute stars and a light up moon. Soju bottle caps were wedged in between the walls. The menu was straight forward. We ordered the bossam, bulgogi, kimchi fried rice, and two beers. The bossam was delicious! Marinated and came with garlic cloves, pickled lettuce, onions, and dipping. The kimchi fried rice was a bit soggy, while the bulgogi was okay. We were there for a quick meal, then enjoyed our beers. It's a cute restaurant for a late night meal, but I wouldn't say it's super fancy.

Came here for late night eats and the experience did not disappoint. The crowd was very lively and service was attentive. The spicy tofu soup with ramen noodle was my favorite item. Chicken gizzard was tough for my taste. Tteokbokki was the perfect texture, but sauce was definitely on the sweeter end. Overall, great place to eat and drink. I would not visit just for the food.

This is my first time trying this place. The ambiance was so nice and had kpop music playing in the background. The service was also really good! The person who helped us was super friendly and kept checking in on us. We got the mandu kug, bossam and tofu kimchi. Everything was very delicious and the banchan was good as well. This was my first time trying bossam and I thought it would be a thicker cut but it was still very delicious. I liked how the tofu dish came with both fried tofu and regular tofu. The presentation was nice! Would definitely come back here again for good korean food!

I love their bossam here! Sometimes I'll have to ask for more fixings but the marinated pork is so delicious. I've come here multiple times and the food always delivers and the servers have been super friendly. Definitely a new favorite Korean spot on Convoy! A lot of the time, they even hook me up with free corn-cheese which is always nice. I recommend calling ahead of time to gauge the crowd and see how busy it is. Dishes I'd recommend: Bossam Cucumber salad (don't sleep on this) Kimchi fried rice Pork belly stir fry Both yukgaejang soups are nice Their kimchi jjigae is not bad but I still prefer Min Sok, IMO. My sister also enjoyed the beef brisket dish too.

Christel L.

Love the vibe. Came here one rainy night with family and the hot food we had offset the cold weather. Being that it's on Convoy, parking is usually a challenge but at least this plaza has a shared lot. Service was prompt. Everything we ordered was good (bulgogi, kimchi fried rice, bossam). No drinks that night but can't wait to try the rest of the menu again.

Ok... BEST seafood pancake in Convoy. No arguments, no debates, end of discussion lol. My girlfriend and I keep joking about gatekeeping this spot because it's not as crowded as other Convoy restaurants. Their marinated Bossam is unmatched - thick, juicy cuts of pork, pairs great with their dipping sauce, and all the right sides. Perfect with a couple bottles of soju (or 4). Our server and the manager were super friendly and even hooked us up with a free plate of corn cheese. Not sure if it was because we ordered a good amount or if they're just that generous, but either way, it gave us a chance to try the dish. We would def order the corn cheese again next time we come, so I guess it worked! Dalbam is fun and underrated. Great for date night, group hang outs, or just when you need your comfort Korean food fix.

I celebrated my birthday 2 years in a row here because the vibes and food does no disappoint! What we ordered: - Intestines hot pot: big enough for 2-3 people, the intestines were super tender and added a nice chewy bite to the overall stew which came with veggies as well as udon noodles - cheesy corn: that cheese pull is amazing - Stir fried gizzard: sautéed in a stone plate with garlic and jalapeños with just salt and pepper makes for a great drinking snack - Cheesy spicy chicken: probably my second favorite dish here where it was the right amount of sweet, spicy, savory with that cheese pull for the perfect bite - Tofu kimchi with pork: my least favorite as the sauce was too sweet and thick. The pork was a bit dry - Jjolmyun: spicy chewy noodles that are cold and refreshing! It has a slight sweetness that's balanced with the spicy that's really delicious Service was great! We really enjoyed the food and drinks in this Korean pub style restaurant

One of my favorite k-bars in San Diego. And the service is so good! They've given a free appetizer the last 2x I've been -- one time it was cheese corn, gyozas another time. And the food is good! Easily shareable. Can't go wrong, and it feels like a "clean" drinking establishment, vs sticky floors/tables... you know what I mean. ;P But Dalbam will be a top go-to for late-night korean food. Yum!

This place was absolutely phenomenal! I came in with my wife and my cousin-in-law and we all loved this place. We came hungry and definitely left full, and even had enough leftover to bring home! We ordered the pork belly, bulgogi, tteobokki and sweet cheese chicken wings, every dish we got was above standard and definitely felt like home cooked dishes! They also serve high quality alcoholic beverages. The service was top-notch as well, and the vibe of the overall restaurant felt very warm and homey. Our server was super kind and attentive and was never bothersome at all during our meal, I believe her name was Honoka! Will definitely be coming back again, especially since they are open late :)

Celebrated Friendsgiving with my girlfriends here. Everything was on point! From food, to service and to the ambiance- it was all we wanted. We ordered Jokbal, Seafood pancake, and Samgyupsal (Pork Belly) - they were all very tasty and delicious! The meat was so tender and juicy. They seasoned the pork well. The sauce for the seafood pancake was perfect. On top of that, the owner gave us cream cheese corn . The service was excellent too! We are definitely going back!

We came here to celebrate my birthday and right off the bat the ambience was amazing! The music, the vibe and our server was wonderful. Started off with the tuna kinilaw. Hubby said and I quote "this is literally the best thing I've ever had in my life!" Got the Taiwanese chicken and it just melt in your mouth like butter. The basil aioli accompanied with this appetizer was just perfection. How do they come up with this? Wagyu corned beef fried rice was also good but definitely not the star of the show! Crispy potatoes were definitely a favorite and that sweet Chinese sausage made it ten times better. Short rib kare kare was so tender. The flavor I wasn't really feeling, but it was still good! The star of the show was definitely the pork tomahawk tocino. So tender, so flavorful! Just when you thought they couldn't get any better. The sticky rice crème brûlée...omggg I want to have this everyday! Please if you were ever hesitant to eat at Animae, you need to now! Everyone needs to try this at least once in their life! Food: With all the hype, we were expecting great food... and boy did they deliver! We ordered a variety of different appetizers and entrees, and each one was literally perfection in all ways possible! Presentation, texture, and taste, all came together in every single dish to create a unique and lasting memory. The food simply cannot be over hyped, it really is that good. Dessert: After having some of the best food we have ever tasted, we definitely wanted to give their dessert a try as well. We shared the Sticky Rice Creme Brulee. Simply wow! Once again made to perfection. Service: The staff were very friendly and our server was knowledgeable and answered all our questions to help us pick what to order for the evening. She even brought us a complementary desert when she found out we were celebrating an occasion. Ambiance: The restaurant looked and felt upscale. There interior design was very well done. I particularly loved the multiple sources of low lighting that created a calm atmosphere. To Summarize: We had some of the best food of our lives, honestly. You can tell that so much care and planning was put into each and every dish they make. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive. The ambiance of the restaurant was inviting and calm. Literally everything about our experience here was perfect!

Came here with their revamped fine dining Korean Asian Fusion menu during Happy Hour and this place…read morewas absolutely amazing!!!!! First off, there is free parking available, just circle around the building until you see a garage entrance for retail parking. Two hours for free! Let me first explain the aesthetics of this place. Clean and modern with mid century feel accented with greenery throughout. Please note that they won't seat you until most of your party is present. We came here for Happy Hour which was from 4-6pm from Tuesday to Sunday! This is fantastic that HH includes the weekend!!!! To start, got a wellness shot which had a meld of juices and ginger. A great drink to ready your palate. For cocktails, I tried the Suika Spritz, which was refreshing! The Absolutely Pho-nomenal definitely tasted like cold Pho broth but spiked. It wasn't my favorite drink, but glad I tried it nonetheless. Of course we ordered the $1 oysters, and ordered all three - Baja, Pacific Northwest, & East Coast. It came with some Asian fusion sauces to dress our oysters. My fave was the Baja as these were the freshest! All three were smooth and non briny. On the HH menu we also tried - Bulgogi Birria Vampiro - Tender meat with bulgogi seasoned beef on top of a tostada. Really liked the meld of the two cultures in this dish. Duck Liver Mousse - Comes with rustic bread & crème fraiche. Very duck forward. I liked this because it was rich with flavor. Stone Crab Taco - Loved the nod to Loganisa in this taco! This was by far, my favorite protein dish on the HH menu!!!! Regular Menu - Mango Nasturium Kimchi Salad - I absolutely loved this vibrant and fresh dish!!!! I had to go back for second and thirds! Shishito Peppers with Bonito Flakes - This was definitely a fun and flavorful dish with lots of umami. Dessert - Hotteok and Vanilla Ice Cream - this was my favorite dessert! The pancakes were flaky and delicious!! Bonbunja Tiramisu - Beware! This has a strong coffee taste. It reminded of the strength and flavor profile of a Vietnamese coffee. I can't believe it's not cheesecake - Definitely a mix of a brûlée but with a cheesecake flavor. Confusing but works lol. We met the executive chef, Kyler, who explained and served some of dishes we ordered. The entire staff was so accommodating and even reminded us if we needed our parking validated! Our water never ran empty and our dishes were promptly taken away as we finished. Definitely a place to visit during HH since they offer amazing food and cocktail choices.

My wife and I went here for dinner expecting to eat great food based on all the high reviews and…read morethe upscale price, but we were instead left with disappointment and a big fat check with an unexpected automatic 20% gratuity fee for 2 people. Food: We got several appetizers and 3 entrees. We had the Mango Kimchi Salad, Bulgogi Birria Vampiro, Silkworm Pupa Tacos, Doenjang Risotto, Miso Lingcod, and Braised Short Rib. We got plenty of dishes to try, but unfortunately they were either simply mediocre or had an issue. The Kimchi Salad was too strong in spice and the mangos were unripe and hard. The Birria Vampiro was simply mediocre and sort of bland. Silkworm Pupa Tacos were again sort of bland. The Risotto was undercooked and crunchy instead of 'al dente'. Miso Lingcod had a very fishy taste and not much else. And the Braised Short Rib was too salty. Drinks: I got the Choi's cocktail and my wife got the Gangnam Style espresso martini. Both drinks were very well made and tasted great! Service: Unlike the food, the service was great! From the person who confirmed our reservation, to the staff at the front of the door, and to our server, they were all extremely friendly. We were celebrating an occasion, which we made known when booking and upon sitting down we got a handwritten card with a congratulations note. That was very unexpected and awesome! We also got a couple of complimentary cocktail shots from the bartender while we were there. Overall, I would say the staff and service was extremely good. Parking: The area of San Diego that Choi's is located is unfortunately very bad. Overfilled with homeless, drug addicts, and just plain shady looking people who roam the streets. I was overjoyed when I found out that they give you two hours of complimentary parking in a safe place! So to summarize: The staff that provide great service, the bartender with awesome drinks, and the free parking in a safe place simply do not make up for the main reason we were there: the food. The only reason I gave this place 2 stars instead of 1 was because of all these other factors besides the food. Before paying the bill and leaving, we did let the server know about the issues we found with the food in a very friendly and constructive way. She was thankful for the honesty and the feedback.

It's in a plaza with a ton of other restaurants, so just know parking can be a little chaotic. I went on a Wednesday around 5:30PM and still found parking pretty easily, but I can see it getting rough later. The place itself is on the smaller side, but they fit a good amount of seating. Every time I pass by it never looks super packed and even this time it wasn't that busy. I ordered ahead through their website, which was smooth, but when I walked in the cashier didn't see my order at first. I showed her my confirmation text, she checked with the kitchen and let me know it was still being prepared. She was super kind about it, so no issue there. I sat and waited and it ended up being around 20 minutes, which felt a little long for just two items, but not terrible. There was also a moment where a group came in and no one was at the front, so they asked me how ordering worked. We both just assumed you scan the QR code at the table and order from there, which probably explains why there isn't always someone upfront. A little confusing at first, but it is what it is. Once my food was ready, it was packaged really nicely. I had about a 25 minute drive home and everything stayed warm, which is honestly the best part about good takeout. Popcorn Chicken ($9.50) This might be the best popcorn chicken I've had in San Diego, especially for the price. You get big pieces, like actual chicken, not just fried coating. The seasoning is kind of addicting, a little sweet, a little salty, savory, with a slight kick. Super fragrant too with green onions mixed in. The sauce tasted like a cilantro jalapeño crema, almost taco vibes, which sounds random but it worked really well. And the shredded cabbage at the bottom soaking up all that extra seasoning... so good. Only thing is I wish some pieces were a little crispier and more golden, but still really really solid. Spicy Shrimp Wontons (8 pcs, $10.80) These come in a soy, vinegar, chili oil sauce that's super balanced. The wontons themselves are a bit smaller and don't have a ton of filling, so price-wise it's a little eh. But the sauce carries. After sitting in it during my drive home, I thought it would be too salty, but it actually soaked in perfectly. The color got darker and richer and the flavor still stayed balanced. Overall, this place is honestly solid. The menu isn't huge, more focused on noodles, dumplings, and apps, but based on what I had, they do it well. I'll definitely be back to try more, but that popcorn chicken alone is already enough reason to come back.

The hostess had a note for our anniversary celebration. They also printed a little celebatory note directly on the menu - a great personal touch. Our server was friendly and answered any questions we had. We ordered the beef tartare, smoked aged duck, and the deep fried sand bass. For the drink we ordered the Seasame Soirée. While our food came out pretty slow, I'd say it was worth the wait. We also enjoyed 2 complimentary glasses of bubbly while we waited as part of our anniversary celebration. The restarant itself is decorated beautifully with a jazzy ambiance. The interior had bits of gold and green with a beautiful pearlescent leafy wallpaper. The bar is located in the center and also doubles as a centerpiece to the restuarant. Restrooms are located in the back - there we many private, clean and spacious rooms. Below is a summary of the food we ordered: Beef Tartare (5/5) - Savory, sweet and spicy beef tartare dressed in fish sauce and thai chilis. Paired alongside fresh herbs like cilantro, shiso, argula and radicchio. The sesame rice crackers were light and airy. Smoked Dry Aged Duck (5/5) - Perfectly cooked, sweet and salty aged smoked duck paired with rice noodles, herbs and 2 different sauces. I appreciated the many ways you can wrap and enjoy the duck. I do wish the slices of duck were either smaller or thinner - it's hard to eat in one bite. Whole Fried Sand Bass (4/5) - I'll always order a whole firied fish wherever I go and this was no expection. I loved the sweet & sour ginger sauce. The fish was a bit over-fried in my personal opinion, but the inside is still very soft and tender. Sweet & Sour Rice Noodles (5/5) - Aboslutely delicious! Slippery and cold rice noodles dressed in fish sauce and other seasonings. It's not overpowering at all and goes great with the Whole Fried fish as well. Seasame Soiree Cocktail (5/5) - A very unique drink made with gin, ginger, coconut, seasame seeds and more. It was very fragrant in the best way. The flavor really develops after the first sip. I love how nutty and decadent yet light this drink is. Overall, I had a great experience here and this is one of the top restaurants I've had the pleasure of enjoying in SD. Highly reccomend especially if you like Vietnamese food / fish-sauce forward dishes. (At least for the dishes I ordered)

Our waitress was very friendly and gave us a good rundown of her favorites. To order, we ended up going with the beef tartare, the artichokes, and the baguette. The baguette was fresh, warm and delicious. The beef tartare was a standout and had a yummy amount of spice. The artichokes were pretty good but aren't a must get. A point was lost here for the time between receiving those starters and our mains (the scallops and half chicken). They were both delicious, but the gap in time was so large that we had to take most of those two to go to meet our next reservation. Had they came out about 20 mins sooner, we would have had more time to enjoy. Recommend nonetheless though! The cocktails were great as well.
