    Spicy soondae guk (5/5)
    Katherine S.

TL;DR: Great variety of soups and SO flavorful This spot is located at the food court inside of H-Mart. Visiting San Diego and was craving some Korean soup. When I found this spot, first things that caught my eye was pork gukbap and soondae guk, both of which options are limited/non-existent back at home. SERVICE: Very friendly. You order, pay, they give you a beeper, and then find a table. There are a lot of other vendors too, so it was fun to walk around and see what they had. FOOD: ~Pork Gukbap (5/5): had so much good flavor. The depth of flavor in the soup was so good, and the pieces of pork in it was so tender and melt in your mouth good. You get to season it yourself so that you can get it just to your liking. ~Spicy Soondae Guk (5/5): This was SO GOOD. Flavor bomb and just spicy enough. Decent amount of meat and soondae in it. ~Soondae & Pork Sampler Plate (3/5): Soondae was okay but a little overcooked (bursting, but not in a good way). The pork sampler was a mixed bag. Some pieces were tender and some were dry and rough, but overall flavor was okay. Overall, this place definitely won me over with their soups.

Delicious! Had the spicy beef soup & it was soooo good!!! It's at the H Mart. Service took some time, but the food was very good

Food: I always get the spicy soondae soup. The original soup and this spicy one always taste really good. However I do feel that since they opened, the portion of meat inside the soup has reduced. Also, more chapsal soondae than tojong soondae since opening. I enjoy the tojong soondae more because there is more flavor into it. I wish they gave more meat inside the soup. Service: it's inside a food court so don't expect service. They just give you the ringing bell and you pick up once it's ready. Ambiance: [[HIGHLIGHT]]H mart is always busy. A lot of people in the weekends.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    10. Spicy Beef Soup with Beef Flank Meat & Veggies / 육개장, daikon Large Radish Kimchi / 깍두기 and Small Fresh Kimchi / 겉절이

It isn't often that I order, sit down, taste, and am immediately propelled to distant lands. The spicy beef soup at Moobongri did exactly that - like a taste time travel tunnel, it "whooshed" me away; every bite intensifying the experience. The soup it's expertly made. Combining spice at a tolerable level with intense flavor from the beef-bone broth. Shreds of beef flanked (pun intended) by egg, fiddle ferns, green onion and above all FLAVOR are what makes this such an enjoyable experience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Some have said this before - but to think this is in a food court in Hmart, is pretty amazing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] On the side I ordered a tendon plate. Most American diners shy away from tendon. It's a texture thing I'm told. But the texture that is SO prized in areas of Asia and the middle-east, is something many Americans simply can't stomach. Me? I grew up in the gelatinous, quivering pieces, so much so that I sometimes crave them but rarely find them, again, because of many American's aversion to the dish. Imagine my surprise when I saw this on the menu. When I told staff that I like mine "soft" and that I've gotten "not so soft" in the past, I was told that the tendon is "pretty soft, but somewhat chewy" a PERFECT description of the dish. Not so soft it falls apart, but not too chewy either. If you promise not to tell, rather than dropping some in the accompanying dipping sauce, I dunk these gelatinous chunks in the soup for extra flavor, alternating between "plain" and "soup dunked" bits. The side dishes of kimchi and daikon kimchi served as perfect companions to the soup both in flavor and temperature, thus allowing me to alienate texture-temperature-unctuousness-salty/sour; making my palate dance with joy discovering something new with every chew and every bite. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is that of a food court - casual, sometimes loud, humming with people, friends and families enjoying something tasty.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Combine coming here with shopping at Hmart or the attached Paris bakery and you have a wonderful hop skip and a jump to foreign lands.

Located inside the food court of H Mart. I've tried their 감자탕 twice, both times didn't disappoint. Lots of meat and the broth is so good. It comes with a side of kimchi and radish kimchi + rice.

I can't believe this has been here at the hmart food court and I'm just trying them now! I had their pork bone broth and it was so hearty and warm. I love that it comes with kimchi and diced radish too. I like that they give the seasonings in small containers so you don't have to go up to ask.

I told myself I would come back in month but nope the craving called and I was back two weeks later. Came right at opening and already a line was forming. [[HIGHLIGHT]]People obviously enjoy this place because they stayed busy the entire time I was there.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I got the #9 same as last time. I think the owner took my order very nice guy. All the staff are super nice. Once again large portion. Perfectly seasoned. Comforting food. I promise next time to try something different...maybe :)

The spicy beef soup was so good, rich, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. It's such comfort food, warm and satisfying. The service was friendly and attentive. The staff made sure everything came out hot and fresh and were happy to answer questions about the menu.

I've loved the location in Oakland so when I saw this place in the food court at Hmart, I had to try. They have a limited menu compared to the restaurant in Oakland but it was very good too. We ordered #6 spicy pork soup and #10 spicy beef soup with beef flank meat and veggies. Both had a nice kick but not too spicy. Both the pork and beef broths were rich in flavor and they have their own distinctive tastes. Generous portions and hearty with lots of meat. I just returned from Seoul and these soups didn't disappoint our tastebuds. My husband was satisfied with the Spicy pork soup and I really enjoyed my spicy beef soup as there were so many ingredients such beef, egg, clear noodles, green onions, and other veggies . The soups also came with bon chon like kimchi and radish. I want to come back to try their other items soon since I'm having Seoul food withdraws. Check this place out! Very authentic.

    Amazing #7

I love the soups here! I've tried the spicy pork, beef stew, and today I had the spicy beef blood soup. It had cubes of beef blood cakes and thinly sliced brisket (I think). The broth is always perfectly piping hot, savory, and flavorful. Each soup comes with three sides, like kimchi, daikon kimchi, and rice. Whenever I'm feeling under the weather or craving soup (which is basically every day), I come here. And the best part? I get to grocery shop after! By the way, this spot is inside the H Mart food court.

    Spicy soondae soup
    Ginger P.

Please refer to my last review for my review on their amazing spicy soondae soup. Today I was just craving the soondae so I got the soondae platter. I thought the portion was pretty small for the price, but I did a little more research and found that it's on par with the going price for good quality soondae these days, maybe a bit on the high side. I found it to be really tasty. Regardless I was satisfied with my meal and paired it with the tteokbokki sauce from Jaws Express next door. Also really happy to report that their seollongtang is really good too! Good portion size and they accommodated my request for extra kimchi! I ate it all and cleaned off every last drop of the soup.

    09. Beef Back Rib Soup / 갈비탕
    Annie C.

For food court food, this place is pretty solid! They offer lots of different traditional Korean soups like seollongtang and kalbitang. I do wish they gave more meat for the prices they're charging, but otherwise a good place to grab dinner after grocery shopping in HMart!

Soondae soup (blood sausage), two types of kimchi, rice and some seasonings on the side.
    Leslie H.

Another new Korean food experience for me. I ordered the Soondae Gukbap. Order comes with kkakdugi or radish kimchi, baechu-kimchi or napa cabbage kimchi, rice, gochujang, & salt & pepper. First time eating korean blood sausage as well as the gukbap. Both tasted great. The soup also has some chopped up pork intestines, liver & heart in there. You order from the counter, they'll give you a beeper and pick it up from the counter once ready. When you are done, you return your entire tray back to their counter. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a very casual, somewhat fastfood vibe place since it is set up as a food hall type area inside H Mart.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

If you want an experience, have time you need to kill and have kids, it's a solid spot, but in no way is this a destination if you live west of the 15. Stick to classic spots.
