Pho King is our regular spot to go when we are craving Soups. We come here once a week. Our usual favorite here is the " Hu Tieu My Tho Nuoc ", and the " Hu Tieu My Tho Kho ". I dont know how to translate that, but one of them is a Soup and the other one has the exact ingredients but it comes with a red Sauce instead of a broth. Both are delicious. Everything here is good. Service is also very friendly . Parking here is always full and limited space.

I've been here probably a dozen times since this is the place not for Phở, but here people came for another dish called hủ tiếu nam vang and hủ tiếu mỹ tho, which I didn't find many places in SD would offer as a signature dish. The restaurant runs by the parents of singer Nguyen Khang who is also a colleague of my cousin, so every time he came to town we would come here and eat lunch or breakfast. Food quality stays the same but price definitely gone up. So if you're graving for either one of those dishes I mentioned above, this is the place for you.

I decided to give this spot a try, and it instantly gave me classic mom-and-pop restaurant vibes. The decor was simple, nothing fancy, but the tables were clean and the place felt welcoming. The owner struck up a conversation and asked if I was Lao or Cambodian; I let him know I'm Filipino. He was incredibly polite and we ended up chatting about Vietnamese and Filipino food, which added a nice personal touch to the visit. Since it was way too hot for pho that day, I went with the cơm sườn nướng (grilled pork chops). He also recommended the bò nướng bánh tráng, which turned out to be a fun surprise. I had no idea they offered build-your-own spring rolls--this was the first place I've seen do that, and it made the meal more interactive. The food was good overall--not the best I've ever had, but definitely far from the worst. What really made the experience stand out, though, was how friendly and welcoming the owner was. That alone made the visit worthwhile. Next time, I'll be back to try the pho.

Great service, the man that served us was very friendly, helpful in making recommendations and quality checked to see if we were enjoying our meal. I ordered the Hu tieu my tho kho as per his recommendation. He said it was most popular and a south Vietnam dish. He asked if I'd had it before when he brought it to the table. I hadn't, so he explained how to eat it which I thought was super nice. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The sauce was delicious. The side broth was yummy. The toppings were great, I enjoyed the noodles. I will say when I went back a second time and ordered the same thing - I got a totally different sauce which tasted just like soy sauce and it really made the dish not that great. Not as yummy and satisfying as the first time time. The first time the sauce was red in color and the second time the sauce was dark dark brown. My husband had the rare steak, brisket, beef ball pho and enjoyed it as well. I tried it and thought it was good, broth was tasty and noodles were cooked nicely. We also got a durian coconut smoothie. We were told they use real fruits and not powder flavorings. It did taste pretty good. I forgot to take a pic of it.

My grandma came here the other day and then brought us an order of the Banh Canh Cua (some sort of soup with bean sprouts, crab meat, shrimp, green onions, cha, and udon). The broth tasted light and clean. The shrimp was deveined and tasted so supple and delicious (not over cooked). I love the cooked beansprouts in it. The udon was hard to grab with chopsticks but tasted nicely cooked (not over nor under). Since we were home, I added some frozen dumpling and sliced celery and it tasted incredible all together. I would 1000% come back for this heartwarming soup on a cold day.

    Dead rodent

What was supposed to be a normal brunch quickly became extremely unsettling. While eating pho, both my boyfriend and I felt nauseous due to a strong odor in the dining area. After looking around, we discovered a dead rat inside a heater on the floor directly next to our booth. We immediately notified a staff member, who appeared shocked and rushed to investigate, confirming the situation. Due to the obvious health concern, we left right away. No refund or compensation was offered. Seeing a dead rodent inside the dining area is unacceptable, and we will not be returning.

What a hidden gem. I have been living next to place for years and finally decided to check this place out. I thought it was another typical pho shop but this place actually specializes in hu tieu! I ordered the hu tieu nam Vang (rice noodle, dry version, soup on the side) order a large bowl for only $1 more! It was sooo good! So flavorful and portion size was perfect! If you're not a fan of hu tieu, they def got some other noodles dishes, rice dishes and appetizers as well! Staff here was so friendly! Can't wait to be back.

This is one of the only pho places (at least that I've been able to find) that serve the delicious glass noodles with their seafood noodle - every other place I've been only offers rice noodle or egg noodle. Their seafood glass noodle soup is my favorite dish here (I believe it's #26 or #28 depending if you want intestine or not). Their regular pho is also very good and what my husband orders. Their spring rolls are some of the freshest I have ever had and I am convinced they must roll them upon ordering. My kids got the shrimp fried rice which they thoroughly enjoyed. The only thing I was only ok about was the beef chow fun- while it wasn't terrible (it did have a good mix of veggies), I was not impressed with the chew and texture of the noodles for the chow fun. All in all an affordable dinner place that I'll regularly visit.

I don't like Pho King...I LOVE Pho King! I could come here morning, noon, and night! LOLLLLLLLL! I have worked near here forever and have never gone in. But my buds said it's good, and it is! What I like is that there's more choices and not just pho. I ordered my favorite, #58...grilled chicken and egg rolls over vermicelli. Soooooo good! And the portion is good! I can't believe I haven't been here! They also have really good iced coffee drinks, not like the other places that give you the coffee and you have to wait for it and then pour over ice. They make it for you! The dining area is cozy, but if you get there early enough, it's not crowded. Looking forward to coming again because I love Pho King! ;)

This is one of my Favorite PHO restaurants called " PHO KING " . I don't come here often during summer, but I dine here a lot during the winter season. Also, I come mostly at night here 'coz the parking here is so crazy in the day, especially since there's a water store close to it and a lot of people is stoping to get water here and they are double parking, it's so crazy! So night Time is always my Best shot to get a good parking here when the water store is closed. When we come here, we never try anything else here, but we get the same order every time: *PAN FRIED NOODLES With SEAFOOD. - Pan Fried Noodles, I really love this one, the Pan Friend Noodles are so CRUNCHY on the outside, but very soft on the inside, you can put your sauce and veggies and its all good together! * PHO SOUP - i don't know what it is called , my husband always orders this for himself , all i know its lots of meats ! * PORK NOODLE - This one is a DRY CLEAR PORK rice NOODLE with shrimp, fishball, squid, bbq pork, ground pork, and more. This is MY FAVORITE in this restaurant ! The Place is Clean, the Food is Flavorful, and the service is excellent, especially the old funny, friendly, spiky-haired old guy who works here, he is one of the Original servers here, but I keep forgetting his name, he is cool, you will know it's him when u visit the restaurant, he talks to the customers a lot :)

    Estefania C.

One of my new favorites. The pho is so good. Place is authentic. Affordable was about $23 for two bowls of pho. The broth was so flavorful. I rarely finish the whole thing but I finished the small even wanted to lick the plate. Loved it and they have lots of food options. Even the pho had lots of options including beef, perk, chicken or seafood. Loved it already want to go back. Service was ok but it's also cause shortwave on workers- noticed it was one server for the whole place. Parking is good if you find a spot but parking is busy.

I looked around the menu and saw #23 - Phở Đặc Biệt (The Special). Of course, I was feeling special that day , so I ordered the small Pho #23. The bowl might have been small, but it was PACKED with meat, noodles, and flavor. Of course, all the sauces were right there on the side so you could make it exactly how you like it. We also ordered the Bún Riêu, which was simple but hearty and comforting. Glad we were able to fill up, recharge, and get some energy for the rest of the evening. If you're ever around this part of San Diego and craving some good Vietnamese food, definitely check out Duyen Mai. Yummy!

Today, it's one of the most well-known Vietnamese restaurants in the city, and after this visit, I can definitely see why. One of my favorite things about coming here is the location. Even though it's right in Convoy, parking has never been an issue for me. I usually avoid the area because finding a spot can be a headache, but Phuong Trang has a large parking lot that makes stopping by so much easier. I came in for a quick takeout lunch. One thing to know before you go is they don't accept Apple Pay, so make sure to bring a physical card or cash. The staff was incredibly welcoming. They greeted me when I walked in, gave me plenty of time to look over the menu, and never made me feel rushed. That kind of hospitality really stood out. I ordered the Char-Grilled Beef Vermicelli and the Shrimp, Pork & Jellyfish Salad. The salad comes with shredded green papaya, celery, cucumber, carrots, shrimp, pork, jellyfish strips, fresh mint, crushed peanuts, and shrimp chips. The salad was refreshing with plenty of shrimp and jellyfish throughout. I especially liked the crunch from the green papaya. My only complaint was that the dressing felt a little one dimensional. I wish it had a little more brightness to bring out the fresh herbs and vegetables. It was still enjoyable, though. The Char-Grilled Beef Vermicelli was my favorite of the two. It came with vermicelli noodles, fresh herbs, pickled daikon and carrots, crushed peanuts, plus five grilled beef rolls wrapped around scallions. The beef had a delicious smoky flavor from the grill. The only downside was that the inside of the rolls was a little chewy since it didn't get the same char as the outside. Even so, every bite was packed with flavor, so it wasn't enough to take away from the dish. Between the friendly service, quick turnaround for takeout, and solid food, I can see why Phuong Trang has stayed so popular for all these years. I'd happily come back and keep working my way through their menu.

Service: Great, the servers check in a decent amount of the time and you can usually flag them down if you need anything Food: This is where my review goes downhill. The only thing I would say is worth getting at this restaurant is the baguette with butter (no add-ons, caviar or whatever they have going on at the time -- its just not worth it -- when I got the black truffle on my butter the shavings were so thin they might as well have not been there since it made no difference in flavor) The tamarind wings are one dimensional -- the wings are fried well, but lack in flavor, its straight *overwhelming* tamarind with no other notes. House made egg noodles lack any sort of noticeable flavor, most of it stemming from the Lap Cheong but most definitely not worth the price tag that it holds ($36) The dry aged duck is where I feel the most "scammed out of". Ive gotten this both times i've been here. Both times its been overly salty. I understand its dry-aged, but the saltiness overtakes any other flavor of the duck. The sauces try to make up for the lack of flavor but they just cant carry the entire dish on their own -- especially not for a $100 price tag. The first time I ordered this dish (Jan 2026) the duck came out cold-warm, and the second time I came here (July 2026) it came out warmer.
