Under new management. Extremely poor service. No steak knife for the ribeye, no appitizer even though I was the only one there the food server never brought it to me. Bad service all around. High prices. Poor parking, 3 spots.

Noodle w.Minced Pork & Soybean Paste very good,This bowl of noodles blew me away--it was incredibly delicious and satisfying.

This bowl of noodles amazed me; it was incredibly delicious and satisfying. It came with three different sauces, and each one was delicious on its own. But when they blended together, it was simply incredible! I regret not discovering it sooner. The restaurant was very clean and the service was excellent.

Nice little cafe. The food is good and reasonably priced. Service is always friendly. Some Indoor seating and also some out door seating. Small parking lot with limited spaces but we have never had a problem finding a space.

On the corner of a residential building, there are not too many parking spaces and the side of the restaurant looks more like the main entrance. There is spacious inside seating. The menu is printed on an 8.5x11 sheet of paper, just want to let you know what to expect, no fountain drinks, I order a strawberry lemonade (very nice and fresh). They have a nice selection of taps and a few wines. I came for before the lunch crowd, I ordered the udon noodle with chicken. Veggies were very good and the udon was done perfectly, the chicken was probably canned, but the broth flavorful. In a location with many Asian restaurants fighting for customers, Soul Du Jour seems to be holding its own. I think coming back for the hot and sour or DanDan noodles maybe my next play here.

Soup Du Jour is a cute place with good food. The service is great! We were told to sit anywhere and were given utensils, ice water, and menus immediately. We ordered the spiced street chicken plate, sweet and sour fish filet, taro milk tea, and some kind of peach tea. I think the spiced street chicken was a little too salty but it was still good. The sweet and sour fish was great. I would recommend staying away from their milk teas, as the drinks we had were way too sweet. Overall, the experience was great. I would come back for a quick bite. Maybe get something else to drink, though. Also, their TV's cannot show sports. We asked and they tried their hardest but it didn't work out.

One of the few places that have congee in san diego! It even comes with a you tiao(Chinese donut) This place has a lot of traditional taiwanese meals and the taste is very home and delicious. I came a little late, about 20mijs before closing and they still accommodated us. I was pretty surprised with how well the flavors and food were. The spare ribs meat was so flavorful and tender it fell of the bones. I would say the wings are salty and a nice kind of saltiness(get some rice and its great!) The soup of the day was packed with a lot of radish and very homie. The staff was super friendly and the decor had some traditional tawainese bowls and stuff. Seems like a lot of people come to hang and chat over food. It is located in a residential apartment area for parking, I didnt have too much issue find parking and they have a designated pickup area.

Cute casual place I been meaning to try by my place. Today was the day! I got the honey glazed ribs, salt and pepper chicken, wontons in chili sauce and Thai tea to drink. I noticed they did a lot of pick up orders due to the restaurant being attached to a residential complex and office buildings across the street. So they seem slow inside the restaurant but busy in the kitchen. Once I got my food, oh my god. Ribs falling off the bone and delicious seasoning. The salt and pepper chicken is so tasty and finger licking good. The wontons were definitely a hit and loved the chili sauce. I am definitely coming back to try other menu items! Totally recommend this place!!

Comfort Asian food. Delicious! Enjoyed the spiced street chicken and the wonton in spicy sauce. Yum! I pre-ordered online so I could grab-and-go, since parking is pretty minimal. They are located downstairs a residential apartment building, with mostly residential parking.

We have been here twice, and it definitely won't be our last!We love their Hainanese Chicken Rice, it 's absolutely excellent. The chicken is super tender and moist, and the rice is perfectly cooked. It's a must-have! Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings are really good too!

Norovirus hit my house hard in 2025. Kids had it, I got it etc. While my illness was short my first recovery meal was chicken noodle soup from a can. Ran right through me. Waited a day and a half and my dinner choice after my stomach felt better was house made soup. We live in San Diego. The Asian food that is not on Convoy is borderlined unacceptable and inedible. I yelped the crap out of nearby restaurants and found Soup Du Jour. Soup Du Jour serves the best hot and spicy soup I've had outside of the Bay Area. Balance in heat, sweet, and sour, perfectly chopped veggies and perfect veggies to soup density. It really is perfect. Prices are so inexpensive too. How is this place not all over the radar? It's the best.

Great service and quality of food. Plenty of parking and we were seated immediately. Available to sit outside or inside. The Spare ribs were to die for!

I came here with a friend for dinner on a Thursday, and the food was amazing! We ordered almost everything they recommended: Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken, Hot and Sour Soup, Honey Glazed Spare Ribs. They gave a huge portion and all their food was super authentic! Highly recommend the popcorn chicken, as it tasted just like the ones in Taiwan. The meat on the ribs were super tender and it literally fell off the bone. It was not overly sweet or salty as well. Everything was hearty and filling. Our server was so passionate about their dishes and spoke very highly of them for a while. Throughout our meal, they came to check on what we thought of the food. They were so nice! Honestly if there's any small local restaurants you should support, it would be this one:)

Soup Du Jour replaced CARVE in this corner suite of the Olympus Corsair apartment complex in Serra Mesa. The interior still had a bar that served beer and wine while the outdoor patio was maintained for additional seating. As evident by the business name, the menu was transformed from meats on the rotisserie and sandwiches to one specializing in soups (and salads). For my to-go order, I selected a cup of the Albondigas (Mexican Meatball Soup) which was made up of two beef & pork meatballs, zucchini, chayote, carrots, and tomatoes in a light broth. I also picked the Crab Mango Salad which consisted of lump crab, mango, red bell pepper, onion, celery, and creamy dijon dressing. A one dollar discount was applied to the bill since my choice was a combo. The meatballs in the soup were large and chunky. The veggies were cut into sizable pieces while the broth was just right in terms of saltiness. The salad components were fresh and reasonable in portion size. I also received a complimentary chocolate chip cookie as part of the order. The takeout experience I had at Soup Du Jour was at a four star level.

Came here with their revamped fine dining Korean Asian Fusion menu during Happy Hour and this place…read morewas absolutely amazing!!!!! First off, there is free parking available, just circle around the building until you see a garage entrance for retail parking. Two hours for free! Let me first explain the aesthetics of this place. Clean and modern with mid century feel accented with greenery throughout. Please note that they won't seat you until most of your party is present. We came here for Happy Hour which was from 4-6pm from Tuesday to Sunday! This is fantastic that HH includes the weekend!!!! To start, got a wellness shot which had a meld of juices and ginger. A great drink to ready your palate. For cocktails, I tried the Suika Spritz, which was refreshing! The Absolutely Pho-nomenal definitely tasted like cold Pho broth but spiked. It wasn't my favorite drink, but glad I tried it nonetheless. Of course we ordered the $1 oysters, and ordered all three - Baja, Pacific Northwest, & East Coast. It came with some Asian fusion sauces to dress our oysters. My fave was the Baja as these were the freshest! All three were smooth and non briny. On the HH menu we also tried - Bulgogi Birria Vampiro - Tender meat with bulgogi seasoned beef on top of a tostada. Really liked the meld of the two cultures in this dish. Duck Liver Mousse - Comes with rustic bread & crème fraiche. Very duck forward. I liked this because it was rich with flavor. Stone Crab Taco - Loved the nod to Loganisa in this taco! This was by far, my favorite protein dish on the HH menu!!!! Regular Menu - Mango Nasturium Kimchi Salad - I absolutely loved this vibrant and fresh dish!!!! I had to go back for second and thirds! Shishito Peppers with Bonito Flakes - This was definitely a fun and flavorful dish with lots of umami. Dessert - Hotteok and Vanilla Ice Cream - this was my favorite dessert! The pancakes were flaky and delicious!! Bonbunja Tiramisu - Beware! This has a strong coffee taste. It reminded of the strength and flavor profile of a Vietnamese coffee. I can't believe it's not cheesecake - Definitely a mix of a brûlée but with a cheesecake flavor. Confusing but works lol. We met the executive chef, Kyler, who explained and served some of dishes we ordered. The entire staff was so accommodating and even reminded us if we needed our parking validated! Our water never ran empty and our dishes were promptly taken away as we finished. Definitely a place to visit during HH since they offer amazing food and cocktail choices.

My wife and I went here for dinner expecting to eat great food based on all the high reviews and…read morethe upscale price, but we were instead left with disappointment and a big fat check with an unexpected automatic 20% gratuity fee for 2 people. Food: We got several appetizers and 3 entrees. We had the Mango Kimchi Salad, Bulgogi Birria Vampiro, Silkworm Pupa Tacos, Doenjang Risotto, Miso Lingcod, and Braised Short Rib. We got plenty of dishes to try, but unfortunately they were either simply mediocre or had an issue. The Kimchi Salad was too strong in spice and the mangos were unripe and hard. The Birria Vampiro was simply mediocre and sort of bland. Silkworm Pupa Tacos were again sort of bland. The Risotto was undercooked and crunchy instead of 'al dente'. Miso Lingcod had a very fishy taste and not much else. And the Braised Short Rib was too salty. Drinks: I got the Choi's cocktail and my wife got the Gangnam Style espresso martini. Both drinks were very well made and tasted great! Service: Unlike the food, the service was great! From the person who confirmed our reservation, to the staff at the front of the door, and to our server, they were all extremely friendly. We were celebrating an occasion, which we made known when booking and upon sitting down we got a handwritten card with a congratulations note. That was very unexpected and awesome! We also got a couple of complimentary cocktail shots from the bartender while we were there. Overall, I would say the staff and service was extremely good. Parking: The area of San Diego that Choi's is located is unfortunately very bad. Overfilled with homeless, drug addicts, and just plain shady looking people who roam the streets. I was overjoyed when I found out that they give you two hours of complimentary parking in a safe place! So to summarize: The staff that provide great service, the bartender with awesome drinks, and the free parking in a safe place simply do not make up for the main reason we were there: the food. The only reason I gave this place 2 stars instead of 1 was because of all these other factors besides the food. Before paying the bill and leaving, we did let the server know about the issues we found with the food in a very friendly and constructive way. She was thankful for the honesty and the feedback.

It's in a plaza with a ton of other restaurants, so just know parking can be a little chaotic. I went on a Wednesday around 5:30PM and still found parking pretty easily, but I can see it getting rough later. The place itself is on the smaller side, but they fit a good amount of seating. Every time I pass by it never looks super packed and even this time it wasn't that busy. I ordered ahead through their website, which was smooth, but when I walked in the cashier didn't see my order at first. I showed her my confirmation text, she checked with the kitchen and let me know it was still being prepared. She was super kind about it, so no issue there. I sat and waited and it ended up being around 20 minutes, which felt a little long for just two items, but not terrible. There was also a moment where a group came in and no one was at the front, so they asked me how ordering worked. We both just assumed you scan the QR code at the table and order from there, which probably explains why there isn't always someone upfront. A little confusing at first, but it is what it is. Once my food was ready, it was packaged really nicely. I had about a 25 minute drive home and everything stayed warm, which is honestly the best part about good takeout. Popcorn Chicken ($9.50) This might be the best popcorn chicken I've had in San Diego, especially for the price. You get big pieces, like actual chicken, not just fried coating. The seasoning is kind of addicting, a little sweet, a little salty, savory, with a slight kick. Super fragrant too with green onions mixed in. The sauce tasted like a cilantro jalapeño crema, almost taco vibes, which sounds random but it worked really well. And the shredded cabbage at the bottom soaking up all that extra seasoning... so good. Only thing is I wish some pieces were a little crispier and more golden, but still really really solid. Spicy Shrimp Wontons (8 pcs, $10.80) These come in a soy, vinegar, chili oil sauce that's super balanced. The wontons themselves are a bit smaller and don't have a ton of filling, so price-wise it's a little eh. But the sauce carries. After sitting in it during my drive home, I thought it would be too salty, but it actually soaked in perfectly. The color got darker and richer and the flavor still stayed balanced. Overall, this place is honestly solid. The menu isn't huge, more focused on noodles, dumplings, and apps, but based on what I had, they do it well. I'll definitely be back to try more, but that popcorn chicken alone is already enough reason to come back.

Parking is limited in the plaza shared with other restaurants so arrive early to snatch one.

The space is beautiful with that SoCal casual fancy (love it, hate stuffy dressed up fancy atmospheres). The staff were friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, definitely were helpful in making informative recommendations. The efforts put in are Michelin level. They notified us multiple times of the automatic 20% tip that's shared with all staff which I'm honestly fine with. We got the Pig Ears Salad (recommended by the bartender, the best, most surprising dish, 100%, will never find this anywhere else in the world), eggplants (they were still good and plentiful but not our favorite), and the dry aged duck ($$$$, the confit duck made me uncontrollably laughed and gnaw on the bones praying to extend the moment). I will always get the pig ear, and I was initially skeptical of the price of the duck but left feeling it was worth it. We left with leftovers and it's a good amount of food. Overall, excellent meal, great service, so happy it's at a point that we can do walk ins, and will be back!

The hostess had a note for our anniversary celebration. They also printed a little celebatory note directly on the menu - a great personal touch. Our server was friendly and answered any questions we had. We ordered the beef tartare, smoked aged duck, and the deep fried sand bass. For the drink we ordered the Seasame Soirée. While our food came out pretty slow, I'd say it was worth the wait. We also enjoyed 2 complimentary glasses of bubbly while we waited as part of our anniversary celebration. The restarant itself is decorated beautifully with a jazzy ambiance. The interior had bits of gold and green with a beautiful pearlescent leafy wallpaper. The bar is located in the center and also doubles as a centerpiece to the restuarant. Restrooms are located in the back - there we many private, clean and spacious rooms. Below is a summary of the food we ordered: Beef Tartare (5/5) - Savory, sweet and spicy beef tartare dressed in fish sauce and thai chilis. Paired alongside fresh herbs like cilantro, shiso, argula and radicchio. The sesame rice crackers were light and airy. Smoked Dry Aged Duck (5/5) - Perfectly cooked, sweet and salty aged smoked duck paired with rice noodles, herbs and 2 different sauces. I appreciated the many ways you can wrap and enjoy the duck. I do wish the slices of duck were either smaller or thinner - it's hard to eat in one bite. Whole Fried Sand Bass (4/5) - I'll always order a whole firied fish wherever I go and this was no expection. I loved the sweet & sour ginger sauce. The fish was a bit over-fried in my personal opinion, but the inside is still very soft and tender. Sweet & Sour Rice Noodles (5/5) - Aboslutely delicious! Slippery and cold rice noodles dressed in fish sauce and other seasonings. It's not overpowering at all and goes great with the Whole Fried fish as well. Seasame Soiree Cocktail (5/5) - A very unique drink made with gin, ginger, coconut, seasame seeds and more. It was very fragrant in the best way. The flavor really develops after the first sip. I love how nutty and decadent yet light this drink is. Overall, I had a great experience here and this is one of the top restaurants I've had the pleasure of enjoying in SD. Highly reccomend especially if you like Vietnamese food / fish-sauce forward dishes. (At least for the dishes I ordered)
