Build your own Curry spot? Who would have thought we could have Thai fast food? (We'll sort of..) Was craving Thai curry and didn't want to go into a restaurant type setting, and found this spot on Yelp! I was not disappointed at all. Glita was the one who helped make this experience a great one. It was my first time and she let me try the different broths. After you decide which one you like, you basically pick a protein and a carb and can even add extras for an additional charge to your curry. Service was fast, it was clean, and everything tasted delicious. It is such a deal for your wallet! If you don't want it to go, they have indoor seating as well. Can't wait to come back! My favorite bases: Khao Soi and the Green Curry! Tip: make sure you try the sauces.
Fun concept but the proteins and way dishes were served disappointed us. Upon entering, you get to sample each of their curries. This is great for allowing you to make an informed choice you know you'll enjoy. You pick a protein, curry, starch base, and any additional items you'd like to add. However, we wish there was more protein included as there is a lot of the base (like rice or noodles) relative to the rest of the dish. Being served all in one bowl also means that the base soaks up the curry. This worked for the noodles but wasn't great for the rice. Those who like to control how much curry goes with the rest of the dish should get it on the side. We were also not a fan of the mango sticky rice. The rice and mango were okay, but the crunchy bits (I think crispy mung bean) detracted from the dish. Each bite had incredibly hard bits, almost like large seeds, that were unlike any texture I've had added to mango sticky rice. This is a fun concept and the food is good, but pay attention to how the dishes are served or you may have a less than ideal visit.

She asked if it was my first time and I said yes, so immediately she said for me to try all the curries, which I really appreciated because I typically just order yellow curry since it's the only one i've ever ordered. So I really liked that I had the chance to try all of them because I get scared to order something new that I might not like. I got the Khao Soi curry which the woman said it was her favorite curry and I really liked it too! I got it with crispy pork belly and rice. It's such a warm comforting meal. I never heard of this curry at any other thai places I been so it was nice. I like how you can customize your bowl. She recommended the egg noodles so when I come back I can't wait to try that because I was craving rice today so I opted for rice instead. I loved the cilantro with it actually I wish there was a bit more. I also ordered a thai tea and I liked that as well. Overall would come back especially for the service. She seemed to recognize most of her customers, she just seems really nice and passionate for her work. Prices are pretty typical for thai food. Can't wait to come back. I didn't get to eat inside, but it looked really cute inside, so i'll wanna try to dine in next time and maybe try an appetizer too :)
First time visiting. I rate this a 4 and I will share why. 1. The flavors are good! Green papaya salad, spicy cucumbers and massaman curry were all very enjoyable. 2. The atmosphere is chill with bossa type music in the background. The shop is relatively small but once I was seated I didn't even notice. The large store front window provides plenty of natural light. 3. They have friendly service! They provided us with taste samples of all the curry options. 4. I'll stick my two downside points here... parking is very limited. I feel they deserve more parking, but it also makes for a great takeout. As a girly that loves spicy food, I wish there spice levels were a little hotter. My medium spice felt much more like a mild. Overall I recommend. Especially if you are in the area or if it's on your way home. I think it lends itself to being a good takeout spot.
AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING!!! CoCoCurry has been on my list of places to try since they opened last year, but I just made it there for the first time this week. All I can say is I'm disappointed that I put it off for so long because they're now one of my favorite spots in SD! This place is truly a hidden gem. CoCoCurry is a build-your-own Thai curry spot where you choose between six curries, a base, and a protein. There are so many options that it was hard to choose, but I went with the khao soi curry medium spice with rice as my base and crispy chicken thigh as my protein. Let me just say - they are generous with the portions and don't skimp on the protein. The khao soi curry was PERFECT - sweet, savory, tangy, and spicy. The crispy chicken was well seasoned and crispy. I truly enjoyed every bite of my meal. If it's your first time, they'll give you samples of each curry. I also tried the mango sticky rice which was delicious too. The service was also amazing too. I'm not sure if the woman who helped me is also the owner but she was one of the kindest people I've ever met. Although I ordered to go, you can also dine in. The space is not huge but there's a hour 10 tables and very nice. There is a parking lot but very small. I can't wait to go back and will be going at least once a month now that I know how delicious this spot is!
We came here on a whim and were warmly welcomed by the proprietor, Lita. Parking is a bit tight as the lot isn't very big but we were able to find a spot. Lita welcomed us and let us taste test all the curries. It was very good and we had a hard time deciding which flavor to get. We appreciated being able to taste the curry before ordering as it made us excited to come here again in the future for the other flavors. You can tell the curry is made with quality ingredients as it was robust and flavorful. It was of a good thickness, not watery at all. My group ordered out and as I wasn't very hungry, I kept mine for the later. I ordered the marinated steak strips in the Massaman curry (my #1 recommendation) with egg noodles and side of steamed broccoli. When I finally had my dish, the meat was tender and not overcooked, even after microwaving. The steamed broccoli was standard fare but the noodles were really good. The marinated steak strips were thin but there was a good amount. The only complaint my group had was there was not enough curry. It was sent home in cup - like the kind you'd get for a small cup of soup. At the restaurant, we could see they gave much more curry on the plate than what was given for takeout. It made our dish rather dry and lacking, but I found a way around it by dipping my noodles and beef in the cup. I recommend doing this if you get takeout. I suggest the owner increase the amount of curry given with takeout by using a bigger container. That's the only reason for the 4 stars. Price was reasonable.
Such a good bang for your buck! Their crispy chicken is delicious! I was very satisfied of their food and definitely would be coming back. The workers were really friendly and they also let us sample all the curry before we ordered. The only downside is the plaza they are located in has ver minimal parking but it's definitely a place worth taking time to find parking for. They also run monthly promotions so keep an eye out for that too! Cute interior design and places to sit.
Small parking lot with only a handful of spaces. In a kind of dicey part of town. When you enter, they like you to try all the different curries before you decide. Everything is customizable, including your starch, protein and additional items you would like with your curry. You can also add a side of various small dishes like green papaya salad, tom yum soup and others. My friends wanted to try this place. Great flavors and service! We had a large group and some food was served Luke warm or cold. We told our server who replaced the cold food items. I got medium spicy Khao soi with crispy fish over egg noodles. It was not that spicy at all but I was able to add extra chili to it. Overall we all enjoyed our meals and would return.
A MUST GO-TO FIR CURRY OR SAUCY DISHES! My husband and I came here on the seven day evening. (We were trying a new restaurant in the college area, but found out it was a ghost kitchen.) While looking for a place for dinner nearby, I stumbled across this gem of a place. Parking is tight (small parking lot), but we manage to get a spot. We were greeted as we entered and were offered to sample the curries being offered. It was a small taste on a tiny pink spoon, but don't underestimate the flavors. It was all tasty! I love that there were quite a bit of options between the flavors of sauces, base, and proteins (they even have tofu). A great quick serve place! I ordered the grilled chicken with egg noodles and Khao Soi sauce and optional veggies. My husband ordered the brown rice with grilled chicken and Massaman sauce with broccoli. All were delicious. If you love curry or sauces (I'm a saucer kinda girl), make this place your next meal.
A hidden gem in City Heights!! I'm really hoping they continue to get good business and can expand to a larger space soon! - PARKING - Basically non-existent... there's 1-3 cramped spots right outside the shop but otherwise you might have to drive to the neighboring streets and walk over. - SERVICE/ENVIRONMENT - Similar to the parking situation, the interior of the shop is just as cramped. There's a narrow walkway that leads you to the counter where the staff welcomed us very warmly. She asked if it was our first time visiting, and because it was, she led us through a curry sampler taste test! She gave us small spoons of each curry so that we could make a more informed decision, which we really appreciated! The restaurant only holds about 5-6 tables, most of which only seat 2 people. I wouldn't plan to bring more than 4 people here, otherwise you run the risk of not being seated. - FOOD - Khao Soi: I love Khao Soi so when I saw they had one, I was very excited to try it! After the initial sampling, I was sold! I ordered it with the egg noodles and the fried chicken thigh. The fried chicken thigh was more reminiscent of a chicken tender rather than an actual leg/thigh piece. Still, everything about the dish was delicious! I also got to try my best friend's Penang Curry which she got with Chicken Breast. We both loved the Penang and Khao Soi curry the most, so this was also yummy to me. Her dish came with green beans and bell peppers as well. - OVERALL - Such a hole-in-the-wall and amazing small business! I really do hope they can expand in the future so it won't be as hard to visit them!
This is my new favorite Thai spot! I'm so glad I got to try them out and I'll be a regular here for sure - parking is tiny and there's only a few spots in the small plaza - the owner is so so friendly and welcoming! She gave us a sampling of each curry which was so helpful as we ordered online and were debating between which curry to choose. Now I know which ones I would want to try next time! (1) fried fish fillets with green curry in egg noodles - such a yummy combo, the fish had a light crisp and light salt and pepper seasoning, green curry was sharp and bright and the egg noodles soaked all the goodness in (2) duck leg with khao soi curry in egg noodles - a hit as well! Duck was tender, juicy, and flavor. This curry was slightly richer and deeper in flavor (3) drunken noodle with shrimp - the shrimp was such a good choice here, it was plump and fresh, it could use a little more seasoning but paired with noodles it was great - noodles were good as well! Chewy and not too mushy
What a neat spot tucked away in city heights! The ambience is super hip modern, very unexpected based on the outside. The staff and service is super friendly, as they offer you to sample all 6 curry styles to better guide your decision on what to order. Last but not least, quality of food is delicious. Portions are average but I think really good food. Keep in mind some of their mild options are still kinda spicy. If looking for something truly mild I recommend the mussaman. Will be back!
Cococurry is still as delicious as ever! They updated their menu & made it much clearer and easier to understand for both new & returning customers. I also love that they let you sample every curry before choosing because each one has its own distinct & delicious flavor. The service is always top notch, super attentive, friendly, & quick!

If you're looking for a good curry spot this is the one! The lady at the front is very sweet and personally gives you a sample of each curry. The environment is nice as well with some light music in the background and pretty decor. The food itself was amazing and gave nice portions. I especially liked the mango sticky rice. CoCoCurry found a new customer! I received amazing customer service! Oh I wish I would have got her name but not only did she welcome me immediately, she asked if I wanted to try all the different curries. I sampled each one and they were absolutely delicious. I had a hard time choosing which one I wanted. I ended up choosing grilled shrimp with flat noodles and the Khao Soi Curry. I added some heat as well! This curry I was told is a northern Thai curry. I also added Thai omelet for $3 more. As soon as she put the food down I smelled the warm spices with the cilantro. The shrimp were nice size (tail on). I enjoyed every last bite and left nothing. Flavors were bold and the medium heat was perfect. So many different ways to create your food just how you like. The add on prices I feel are reasonable. CoCoCurry is small inside but the decor is amazing, the only downside is the parking. Very tight parking! I can see them opening up another location eventually. I highly recommend going and giving them a try. read more

One of the cutest, well maintained, and quiet establishments in the area! The vibes are hole in the wall but also a hidden gem, and the food and service is phenomenal. The owner will personally give you samples of all the curries before you sit down so you know exactly what you're getting. All of them are super good, hearty, and flavorful. I personally love the panang curry with the grilled shrimp-- the shrimp are fresh and large and very juicy. This is our second time back, and will definitely be back again and again. read more
Everything was delicious! Where do I start... the build your own curry concept is so fun. You basically go on a little curry journey before even sitting down, and it definitely wakes up your taste buds. We went with the Massaman with crispy fish fillets and rice, and the Khao Soi with grilled king mushrooms over egg noodles... flavors galore. Lita walked us through all the base and topping options, which made the experience even better and truly appreciate that extra connection. No complaints. 10 out of 10. read more

Went at the perfect time it wasn't too busy. Parking kind of rough. But the flavor is great they let you sample the curry before you make a selection I don't think there is a wrong choice. read more
Two things assaulted my senses the moment I walked in. The first was the girl behind the counter asked me to taste test all five of their curry. She said the khao soi was her favorite, and I was convinced into agreeing. I was also partial to the mustard flavor and fragrance. If I hadn't tasted them, I was probably going to order the massaman. They were all delicious though. Well, I did find the green curry a tad weak, but that was at least partly because I had to taste that one last. And green curry has a softer flavor to begin with. The second assault was there was some relatively loud music playing. Not super loud. Just noticeably louder than average for a restaurant, and yet, it was super relaxing. Because it was, like, some Bossa Nova cafe vocal mix. I only know that because I just could not remember what the genre was called, so I went and asked the employee about the music also. Anyways, I ordered the khao soi (hot) with rice and chicken thigh, and it was amazing. The umami of the curry impressed me a second time. The chicken and breading were both soft. The onions and fried egg also mixed in perfectly. This is easily some of the best curry I've had in San Diego so far. I also ordered a tom yum noodle soup with beef. This was also good, but not as impressive as the curry. I believe their meat is also made the same separately no matter what entree you're ordering, so the meat is not made specifically for the soup. Aside from that, the only other negative I can think of, if it can even be considered a negative, might be the location? The neighborhood outside is slightly sketchy. There was a homeless person sitting in the corner in front of the 7-eleven next door. Another homeless man with no shirt on came around the other side of the building and was hanging around in the parking lot right in front of the restaurant. The vibe of this joint really pulls you in though. Something about it feels like an oasis and encourages you forget about the outside world once you're inside. I don't believe in stuff like feng shui, but if there's any truth to it at all, I'm sure this interior design gets an A+ in it. read more
I have dined in and ordered out from here multiple times. Ambience is good. Small little seating section for about 5 to 6 groups. The restaurant is decorated nicely love the pops of yellows that represents curry. Service is always great when I come in. Greeted as soon as you walk in the door and promptly seated as I have not been when it's been busy the cashier offered a tasting of each curry so that we knew which one we would love the most. I have had a variety of the dishes here and they all have been phenomenal. The most recent dish I've had was the salmon with rice and the pan curry. The flavors were dancing in my mouth. Parking is shared with the others two or three stores in the plaza. It can be a bit tight. I would highly recommend. read more

It feels a little sketchy on the outside but the inside feels like sunshine. We were greeted by the friendly woman behind the counter. We welcomed us warmly and clearly explained the process and other menu offerings. We got to sample all the curry sauces, it was hard to choose since they were all divine. She sat up at a table and brought over menus and water. I peeked at the menu before we arrived and had my heart set on Khao Soi with the steamed tofu, rice noodles and Papaya Salad on the side. My friend ordered Massaman with veggies and Jasmine Rice. She also got a Thai Iced Coffee Togo. Both of our meals yummy. I wish my Papaya Salad came with the fermented fish sauce. We ended up stay long after we finished lunch just chatting. There were a few other patrons dining during our visit. Definitely tempted to come back to try a different combination and may the mango and sticky rice. read more

This is a such a nice little restaurant. As soon as you walk in you can see and feel the care and love this owner has put into this space. She will greet you first and have you taste her incredible curries. There are six of them. Each are delicious and unique from the others. You chose your protein, add a curry and a base. They also have other dishes as well if you don't want curry. We order the khao soi, Penang, and green curries. We had the crispy duck, salmon, and chicken. Also ordered the papaya salad. Each was delicious and we all enjoyed our dishes. We also tried the mango and sticky rice. Definitely will come back here. read more

Are you kidding me??? This was absolutely AMAZING!!! You are greeted by the most amazing, helpful, personable human (Patty) that is welcoming and just as excited as you are! Patty was GREAT!! They give you the opportunity to taste all of the curries! It was pretty hard to choose a favorite as they all were superb. I decided on the Panang and boosted it to a level 3. I'll do a 4 next time( looking for more heat) as this will be my go to weekly! I did add some extras to the create your own... I plan on screaming from the mountain tops to anyone how great this is! My wife and I recently tried this hidden gem, and we're so glad we did! I love their build-your-own Thai curry concept because it lets you customize your meal exactly how you like it. I ordered the crispy duck with jasmine rice and Khao Soi curry, while my wife had the soft-shell crab with egg noodles and Khao Soi curry. Both dishes were absolutely delicious--rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The portions were generous, but the food was so good that we finished everything with no leftovers! For dessert, we shared the coconut ice cream with corn and mango sticky rice combo, and it was the perfect sweet ending to our meal. The presentation of every dish was beautiful and showed a lot of attention to detail. We also had the pleasure of meeting one of the owners, Lita, who personally served our food. She was incredibly sweet, welcoming, and made us feel right at home. It's always exciting to see a newer local business doing things right. If you're looking for authentic Thai flavors, a fun customizable menu, and warm hospitality, this place is definitely worth a visit. We'll definitely be back! read more

It was our first time and we were greeted warmly. Our waitress had us try all the curry flavors and they were honestly all delicious. I've never had an experience like this before and the customer service was amazing. For my first visit I had the fried softshell crab with the khao soi and egg noodles. It was delicious and I wish my stomach was big enough to try more food but it looks like I will have to return again so I can try the other flavors and protein options. What drew me here was I wide selection of proteins on the menu and they had an Instagram story mentioning that they had softshell crab on the menu. The interior was super bright and clean. It was my first time trying CoCoCurry. There were a few parking spots in front of the restaurants. There were menus everywhere: in front of the door, side of the cash registers, and behind the registers. So you have plenty of time to look at the menu before sitting down. I was greeted immediately by this wonderful server. She was honestly so delightful. Very kind and hospitable. She made you feel welcomed. First question she asked was "is this your first time? Do you have any allergies?" I loved that CoCoCurry consider allergens before taking any orders. Then she offer free samples before ordering any food. I loved the whole sampling experience it was so fun! She was being very descriptive and explain the taste of each curry perfectly as you sample each curry. There were so many options for Thai Curry, other Thai entrees, and appetizers. They also offer mango sticky rice and coconut icecream for desserts. There were pictures of each menu food item on display on the menu. I'll show you some pictures of the food I ordered. We started off with crispy spring rolls. They were 5/5 delicious. Next up, crispy chicken with Panang Curry. The rice was at the bottom of the dish. It was so good I'm planning to buy this dish again. I also got the Pad Thai Dish. Sometimes, pad thai could be too sweet for me. This dish was on the sweeter side so maybe you'll enjoy it. They have two different beef options like marinated strips or steak. My husband order the thai coffee with coconut milk. I don't even like coffee, but this coffee was super sweet and delicious. We ended our meal with mango sticky rice and icecream combo plate. Really great restaurant. Super beautiful interior design and up to date aesthetics. Perfect for photos. Great customer service and yummy food. Best Thai food in San Diego! The service was great, and our waitress was so friendly. Since it was our first time, she let us try all the curries and made sure we didn't have any allergies. We ended up ordering 3 curries for 2 people because they were all so good, and we still had plenty of leftovers! The food came out super fast but you could tell it wasn't rushed. Every detail from the taste to the presentation was on point; so rich and flavorful without being heavy or greasy. I highly recommend the chicken thigh, it was so juicy on the inside, and crispy on the outside, with the Khao Soi and egg noodles. The ambiance is serene and aesthetically pleasing with gorgeous decor and every inch is spotless including their bathroom, and honorable mention their bidet. It felt like fine dining without the high prices. I'm honestly surprised this place isn't more popular. I'll happily drive 30 minutes to come back again! First timer at CocoCurry and will definitely be coming back. Was greeted upon entrance and as a first time customer we were given samples of each of their curry. It was so hard to decide to choose just one, they were all very delicious. Went with the crispy duck with panang curry over rice and grilled steak with massaman curry over rice. Also ordered a Thai tea to wash everything down. And for dessert, the mango sticky rice, yummm! read more
I'm not a huge fan of curry but this place made me change my mind. They have different types of curry and you can choose your base and protein. I came in with my friends when nobody else was in the restaurant so we were able to sample their different curry flavors. The girl that served us was very nice and informative because we did not know what we wanted. They have other dishes as well but the curry was the star. There's also a few selection of beer and wine. The restaurant was clean. It is a small establishment so it can get crowded and there's not a lot of parking. read more

Don't judge a book by its neighbors. This is a cute, clean, friendly restaurant that happens to serve the best curry (in my opinion) in town. They actually let you taste the curry before you choose. Make sure to let them know if you have any allergies they will point you in the right direction. We had a great dinner and they have a liquor license so you can get a beer or cocktails.
