Build your own Curry spot? Who would have thought we could have Thai fast food? (We'll sort of..) Was craving Thai curry and didn't want to go into a restaurant type setting, and found this spot on Yelp! I was not disappointed at all. Glita was the one who helped make this experience a great one. It was my first time and she let me try the different broths. After you decide which one you like, you basically pick a protein and a carb and can even add extras for an additional charge to your curry. Service was fast, it was clean, and everything tasted delicious. It is such a deal for your wallet! If you don't want it to go, they have indoor seating as well. Can't wait to come back! My favorite bases: Khao Soi and the Green Curry! Tip: make sure you try the sauces.
Fun concept but the proteins and way dishes were served disappointed us. Upon entering, you get to sample each of their curries. This is great for allowing you to make an informed choice you know you'll enjoy. You pick a protein, curry, starch base, and any additional items you'd like to add. However, we wish there was more protein included as there is a lot of the base (like rice or noodles) relative to the rest of the dish. Being served all in one bowl also means that the base soaks up the curry. This worked for the noodles but wasn't great for the rice. Those who like to control how much curry goes with the rest of the dish should get it on the side. We were also not a fan of the mango sticky rice. The rice and mango were okay, but the crunchy bits (I think crispy mung bean) detracted from the dish. Each bite had incredibly hard bits, almost like large seeds, that were unlike any texture I've had added to mango sticky rice. This is a fun concept and the food is good, but pay attention to how the dishes are served or you may have a less than ideal visit.
Was in the area getting my car fixed and was craving thai food. Saw this place on yelp and came in, was greeted so kindly when I came in from the woman up front. She asked if it was my first time and I said yes, so immediately she said for me to try all the curries, which I really appreciated because I typically just order yellow curry since it's the only one i've ever ordered. So I really liked that I had the chance to try all of them because I get scared to order something new that I might not like. I got the Khao Soi curry which the woman said it was her favorite curry and I really liked it too! I got it with crispy pork belly and rice. It's such a warm comforting meal. I never heard of this curry at any other thai places I been so it was nice. I like how you can customize your bowl. She recommended the egg noodles so when I come back I can't wait to try that because I was craving rice today so I opted for rice instead. I loved the cilantro with it actually I wish there was a bit more. I also ordered a thai tea and I liked that as well. Overall would come back especially for the service. She seemed to recognize most of her customers, she just seems really nice and passionate for her work. Prices are pretty typical for thai food. Can't wait to come back. I didn't get to eat inside, but it looked really cute inside, so i'll wanna try to dine in next time and maybe try an appetizer too :)
First time visiting. I rate this a 4 and I will share why. 1. The flavors are good! Green papaya salad, spicy cucumbers and massaman curry were all very enjoyable. 2. The atmosphere is chill with bossa type music in the background. The shop is relatively small but once I was seated I didn't even notice. The large store front window provides plenty of natural light. 3. They have friendly service! They provided us with taste samples of all the curry options. 4. I'll stick my two downside points here... parking is very limited. I feel they deserve more parking, but it also makes for a great takeout. As a girly that loves spicy food, I wish there spice levels were a little hotter. My medium spice felt much more like a mild. Overall I recommend. Especially if you are in the area or if it's on your way home. I think it lends itself to being a good takeout spot.
AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING!!! CoCoCurry has been on my list of places to try since they opened last year, but I just made it there for the first time this week. All I can say is I'm disappointed that I put it off for so long because they're now one of my favorite spots in SD! This place is truly a hidden gem. CoCoCurry is a build-your-own Thai curry spot where you choose between six curries, a base, and a protein. There are so many options that it was hard to choose, but I went with the khao soi curry medium spice with rice as my base and crispy chicken thigh as my protein. Let me just say - they are generous with the portions and don't skimp on the protein. The khao soi curry was PERFECT - sweet, savory, tangy, and spicy. The crispy chicken was well seasoned and crispy. I truly enjoyed every bite of my meal. If it's your first time, they'll give you samples of each curry. I also tried the mango sticky rice which was delicious too. The service was also amazing too. I'm not sure if the woman who helped me is also the owner but she was one of the kindest people I've ever met. Although I ordered to go, you can also dine in. The space is not huge but there's a hour 10 tables and very nice. There is a parking lot but very small. I can't wait to go back and will be going at least once a month now that I know how delicious this spot is!
We came here on a whim and were warmly welcomed by the proprietor, Lita. Parking is a bit tight as the lot isn't very big but we were able to find a spot. Lita welcomed us and let us taste test all the curries. It was very good and we had a hard time deciding which flavor to get. We appreciated being able to taste the curry before ordering as it made us excited to come here again in the future for the other flavors. You can tell the curry is made with quality ingredients as it was robust and flavorful. It was of a good thickness, not watery at all. My group ordered out and as I wasn't very hungry, I kept mine for the later. I ordered the marinated steak strips in the Massaman curry (my #1 recommendation) with egg noodles and side of steamed broccoli. When I finally had my dish, the meat was tender and not overcooked, even after microwaving. The steamed broccoli was standard fare but the noodles were really good. The marinated steak strips were thin but there was a good amount. The only complaint my group had was there was not enough curry. It was sent home in cup - like the kind you'd get for a small cup of soup. At the restaurant, we could see they gave much more curry on the plate than what was given for takeout. It made our dish rather dry and lacking, but I found a way around it by dipping my noodles and beef in the cup. I recommend doing this if you get takeout. I suggest the owner increase the amount of curry given with takeout by using a bigger container. That's the only reason for the 4 stars. Price was reasonable.
Such a good bang for your buck! Their crispy chicken is delicious! I was very satisfied of their food and definitely would be coming back. The workers were really friendly and they also let us sample all the curry before we ordered. The only downside is the plaza they are located in has ver minimal parking but it's definitely a place worth taking time to find parking for. They also run monthly promotions so keep an eye out for that too! Cute interior design and places to sit.
Small parking lot with only a handful of spaces. In a kind of dicey part of town. When you enter, they like you to try all the different curries before you decide. Everything is customizable, including your starch, protein and additional items you would like with your curry. You can also add a side of various small dishes like green papaya salad, tom yum soup and others. My friends wanted to try this place. Great flavors and service! We had a large group and some food was served Luke warm or cold. We told our server who replaced the cold food items. I got medium spicy Khao soi with crispy fish over egg noodles. It was not that spicy at all but I was able to add extra chili to it. Overall we all enjoyed our meals and would return.
A MUST GO-TO FIR CURRY OR SAUCY DISHES! My husband and I came here on the seven day evening. (We were trying a new restaurant in the college area, but found out it was a ghost kitchen.) While looking for a place for dinner nearby, I stumbled across this gem of a place. Parking is tight (small parking lot), but we manage to get a spot. We were greeted as we entered and were offered to sample the curries being offered. It was a small taste on a tiny pink spoon, but don't underestimate the flavors. It was all tasty! I love that there were quite a bit of options between the flavors of sauces, base, and proteins (they even have tofu). A great quick serve place! I ordered the grilled chicken with egg noodles and Khao Soi sauce and optional veggies. My husband ordered the brown rice with grilled chicken and Massaman sauce with broccoli. All were delicious. If you love curry or sauces (I'm a saucer kinda girl), make this place your next meal.
A hidden gem in City Heights!! I'm really hoping they continue to get good business and can expand to a larger space soon! - PARKING - Basically non-existent... there's 1-3 cramped spots right outside the shop but otherwise you might have to drive to the neighboring streets and walk over. - SERVICE/ENVIRONMENT - Similar to the parking situation, the interior of the shop is just as cramped. There's a narrow walkway that leads you to the counter where the staff welcomed us very warmly. She asked if it was our first time visiting, and because it was, she led us through a curry sampler taste test! She gave us small spoons of each curry so that we could make a more informed decision, which we really appreciated! The restaurant only holds about 5-6 tables, most of which only seat 2 people. I wouldn't plan to bring more than 4 people here, otherwise you run the risk of not being seated. - FOOD - Khao Soi: I love Khao Soi so when I saw they had one, I was very excited to try it! After the initial sampling, I was sold! I ordered it with the egg noodles and the fried chicken thigh. The fried chicken thigh was more reminiscent of a chicken tender rather than an actual leg/thigh piece. Still, everything about the dish was delicious! I also got to try my best friend's Penang Curry which she got with Chicken Breast. We both loved the Penang and Khao Soi curry the most, so this was also yummy to me. Her dish came with green beans and bell peppers as well. - OVERALL - Such a hole-in-the-wall and amazing small business! I really do hope they can expand in the future so it won't be as hard to visit them!
This is my new favorite Thai spot! I'm so glad I got to try them out and I'll be a regular here for sure - parking is tiny and there's only a few spots in the small plaza - the owner is so so friendly and welcoming! She gave us a sampling of each curry which was so helpful as we ordered online and were debating between which curry to choose. Now I know which ones I would want to try next time! (1) fried fish fillets with green curry in egg noodles - such a yummy combo, the fish had a light crisp and light salt and pepper seasoning, green curry was sharp and bright and the egg noodles soaked all the goodness in (2) duck leg with khao soi curry in egg noodles - a hit as well! Duck was tender, juicy, and flavor. This curry was slightly richer and deeper in flavor (3) drunken noodle with shrimp - the shrimp was such a good choice here, it was plump and fresh, it could use a little more seasoning but paired with noodles it was great - noodles were good as well! Chewy and not too mushy
What a neat spot tucked away in city heights! The ambience is super hip modern, very unexpected based on the outside. The staff and service is super friendly, as they offer you to sample all 6 curry styles to better guide your decision on what to order. Last but not least, quality of food is delicious. Portions are average but I think really good food. Keep in mind some of their mild options are still kinda spicy. If looking for something truly mild I recommend the mussaman. Will be back!
Cococurry is still as delicious as ever! They updated their menu & made it much clearer and easier to understand for both new & returning customers. I also love that they let you sample every curry before choosing because each one has its own distinct & delicious flavor. The service is always top notch, super attentive, friendly, & quick!

Found this Thai curry spot near where I lived and went for dinner. If you are dining there, know the dining area is rather small. The staff are all so welcoming and helpful when it comes to the curry you want to have with your food. They even let you sample each one so you can pick the one you like best; although, they ALL were amazing, making it hard for me to choose. I ended up getting the Panaang curry with rice and a curry pastry as an appetizer. The curry pastry was filled with potatoes and other vegetables and served with a sweet and spicy sauce to dip it in. The curry was packed with flavor with a subtle kick to it as well but not overwhelming. I will definitely be making this spot a recurring dinner spot! read more
Pretty cool restaurant! It's the only Thai restaurant that I know that offers free tasting on their curry so you can taste every flavor which helps you decide which curry is the best on your liking. Their approach is also very different than most regular Thai restaurants, instead of ordering every entree individually they serve their foods in 3 steps! First: You have to pick your choice of protein. Second: You pick which curry you like best Third: You pick your base with their choices of either jasmine rice, brown rice or your type of noodles. Side dishes is optional, we ordered the omelet, it was good. The place is not big but it's cute! I love the Halloween decor. Place is clean and service is fast. read more

OMG! I'm in LOVE w/ CoCo Curry!! This spot is love at first sight! They've only been open for 5 months, but everything about this place is already perfection - from the adorable interior and warm greeting to the samples they offer of every flavor (which made my decision SO hard and helpful!). I'm so glad I got to try them all because every single flavor was amazing. My top 3: Panang Khao Soi Yellow Curry Honestly, I wanted all three - but I went with the Panang curry with jasmine rice and chicken breast, added potatoes, and a side of boiled egg. The egg was cooked perfectly, the rice portion was generous, and the potatoes were tender and flavorful. Everything tasted fresh, perfectly seasoned, and beautifully plated. I finished with the mango sticky rice, which was the perfect sweet ending - so good! Even the vibe inside was perfect: the music volume was just right and gave such a chill, cozy feel. LOVED THE PLAYLIST! I got a thai tea with coconut milk - was creamy, sweet, and absolutely to die for!! 1000/10! The owner was so kind, checked on me often, and even let me know their updated hours (closed on Mondays!). Such a sweet touch. I have no more words to say - this place truly has my heart and stomach! I'm already planning my next visit. Heads up: Parking is in a small structure, so just a note for anyone visiting - it's a tighter setup but still manageable, and the restaurant is handicap accessible, which is great. I actually really the concept of a BYO curry bowl. When I saw this on IG, I had to give it a try. Parking lot can be a little challenging since there's a shared parking area that's shared with the 7-11 in this small strip mall. They had several curry sauces to choose from and I was able to try ones I wasn't familiar with. I actually ended up picking the Khao Soi curry. It was so good! I'm usually a panang curry girl, so I'm glad that there are other curries out there that are substitute worthy. For the protein, I chose the Crispy Chicken thigh, which is better imo than the pork belly that my friend got. The chicken was juicy, perfectly crisp, and seasoned just right. As the side, I decided to try the spicy cucumber salad, which was just okay. I also tried the papaya salad and this was also just okay. I like the aesthetic of the place gave nods to its Thai cuisine. Plenty of seating and the cashier was helpful with explaining the different sauces and how the ordering process works. Since no one was there, there was no wait! Not sure how busy it gets on the weekends since I went during the week. I would def give this place another try when I'm in the area. read more

I love this place so much. It's like Chipotle but for curry! They have other thai dishes as well but all of their curries are delicious especially the khao soi and massaman. Staff are kind and the coconut thai tea is addicting sometimes i drink two . read more

I love the curry flavor tour! I think this is the only Thai place I know of that allows you to sample their different types of curry before settling on the one that you want. What a unique concept! I did find it hard to pick just one bc all the curries were so good, and I liked that the staff let me try it in order of mild to hottest so that I can gauge where my tolerance was. I got the ice coffee with coconut milk and the green curry on greens with tofu. I would absolutely order these again. Very takeout friendly but we decided to dine in and the tables were almost full by the time we left. I don't know how she juggled it all but service was great even w the one front desk person balancing all the dine in and take out orders. One note is that the parking lot does get pretty cramped so to avoid the headache I would just do street parking. read more

The food was absolutely perfect. Right off the bat, we got to sample every curry and were given recommendations on what to pair with each. Each curry was so flavorful and it was clear to me that it was homemade with care and quality ingredients. The service was stellar as well! Our water never emptied and everyone was so unbelievably kind and joyful. The restaurant itself was very clean and the decor/music created a welcoming and cozy atmosphere. If you are in San Diego, it would be a crime not to come here at least once. read more

Oh my goodness gracious, everyone needs to come here ASAP. This place is amazing!! Upon entrance, you will be greeted with samples of the different curry sauces before you commit to the one you want. It's so hard to choose though because I kid you not, they're all so good! During our trip here, I chose the green curry with crispy chicken thigh + Thai corn salad, & my partner got the khao soi with grilled steak + Thai papaya salad. Wowwww, I went to Thailand for the first time this year & the curry here is truly up to par with the food from the motherland. This place gave me such cute & peaceful vibes like in Chiang Mai & the people who work here were so hospitable and sweet too. The ambiance of the restaurant is also so clean & adorable & I love the jazzy cute music, which also really reminded me of the cafes in Chiang Mai! I am beyond impressed with this restaurant & definitely want to come back to get the other flavors as an entree (e.g., massaman, panang, yellow curry, & etc.). I LOVE YOU COCOCURRY! This place recently open and I finally had the opportunity to try it. The location is a little hole in the wall and parking isn't that great. Parking is in a small plaza in the corner of the red light. Inside is pretty nice and very clean. The style is kind of like to go food where the curry is behind a glass and you pick what you like. You can try all the curry flavors before you purchase. There are a couple of tables if you choose to dine in. Food: you select your protein, carbs, curry and then sides to complete your full meal. The crispy pork belly and fried chicken were pretty scrumptious so highly recommend. As for curry....they were all pretty good. The green curry had a little kick to it for those that like a little spice in their life. The portion for the sides were pretty big. Highly recommend the spicy cabbage. Disclaimer for the ones that list "crab" included in there, it's the fermented crab pieces not a whole soft shell crab or regular crab pieces. If you are not familiar with fermented things then I wouldn't get it. It def wasn't for me! The Kao soi curry and the yellow curry were delicious. Kao soi had more flavor, it was sweet and salty at the same time so it went perfectly with the crispy fried proteins. The Yellow curry was not as flavorful but great if you eat it over rice. The mango sticky rice was great but the price was a tad bit costly for its worth. It came in a tiny 1 cup container and portions wasn't very big for something that cost $10 Overall this place is great if you are craving curry and don't want to wait too long to be served. read more
cococurrysd opened just three months ago in @elcajonboulevard elcajonboulevard. The interior is absolutely cute with its green and yellow color. Lita and Buss, the ambitious couple behind it, are incredibly friendly and welcoming. You can truly taste the love in every dish. Highly recommend this spot for anyone craving authentic Thai food. The cool thing that they have you try all their curry so you get to pick one, but you don't know that you will fall in love with all of them and will make it harder to choose My fav was the crispy Fish Fillets with Khao Soi. read more

Small restaurant but good food. Initially parking can be a challenge due to the lot size and being next to a 7-11 but once you get inside, you are greeted with friendly service and a fun environment. This was our first time here but was recommended from a friend and they did not disappoint. If you are unsure what to get, they will let you sample the curry flavors to help your decision. After having khao soi recently in Chiang Mai Thailand we had to try the one here. It was tasty, had a good consistency and was nicely presented. We also got one "pad see you" and mango sticky rice for dessert. They all were packed with good flavor and were not overly spicy. The portions were a little on the small side but overall quality was good. Great spot to check out if you're in the neighborhood. read more
We ordered to go and food was ready on 10 minutes. I ordered the Khao Soi with crispy chicken and egg noodles. Good portion, broth was flavorful and chicken was was tender and crispy. Definitely recommend! Hubby ordered the Pad Se Ew with grilled chicken. A little pricey but delicious. Mango sticky rice was on the small side but delicious! Was recommended this place by a friend and stopped by to try it. Since it was my first visit the hostess had me sample their four curries so I can get an idea of what I liked. I ended up choosing the green curry as it had a nice spicy undertone. The menu allows you to choose a curry, protein, rice or noodles and sides. I opted for the chicken breast which ended up being a nice large cut but super soft and juicy. The jasmine rice was also super tasty and the combination of the green curry at medium spice level with the chicken was amazing. I also ordered a side of spicy cucumbers which were garlicky and spicy and went well with the main dish. For the drink I chose the home made limeade which was limey and sweet, delicious. A bit out of the way for me, but I can easily see myself making a drive down here again to try another curry. Highly recommended. read more

Amazing service! The nice lady at the register was so helpful as it was our first time here. She let us taste test all their curry flavors. Absolutely loved this place. From the moment we walked in, the service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming without feeling rushed. The ambiance is cozy and cute. And the food... wow. The curries are bursting with rich, layered flavors perfectly balanced between spice, creaminess, and freshness. You can really taste the quality and care in every dish. We got the crispy chicken with Massaman curry and oyster mushroom with Khao Soi was our choices and it did not dis If you're looking for Thai curry that's deeply flavorful, paired with great service and a lovely atmosphere, this spot is a must-visit. Great experience here. Walked in and were offered to sample all the curries which definitely helped us make our choice!! While this place is a bit out of the way for us, we would definitely come back for the amazing selection of Thai curries. We tried crispy pork belly with green curry and steak with panang curry. Both plates were a solid amount of food, left full and happy! Inside is pretty fast casual dining experience. You will need to bus your own table. read more
Wow. Honestly one of those hidden gems you're glad you stumbled across. Coco Curry is tucked into a small Asian plaza off El Cajon Blvd, looks kind of intimidating from the outside, but the inside is clean, calming, and super welcoming. Love the music! We were helped by Leta who gave us a full rundown of the menu and even offered samples of the curries to help us decide, which you don't really see anywhere. That alone made the experience feel personal and made our pick a lot easier. Every sauce is so good and the spice is so deep. She also shared her favorite sauce and curry combos, which was nice. They have a whole sauce bar which was a cool, love the green sauce! Food was delicious, service was even better. You can tell they care about getting things right. Only thing to note is parking can be a little tight in the plaza, but there's usually street parking nearby if needed. Definitely coming back with my girlfriend. Glad this place exists! read more

Randomly found CocoCurry on social media and their food looked so good that I had to check it out, and I'm so glad I did! This place has such a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere. As soon as we walked in, we were immediately greeted by one of the owners, who was incredibly friendly. She welcomed us in, asked if we had been there before, and once she found out it was our first visit, she offered us samples of the different curry options. Every curry we tried was delicious and unique in its own way. My personal favorite was the Panang, but honestly, you can't go wrong with any of their options. The concept is build-your-own, so you choose your curry, carb (rice or noodles), protein, and any additional toppings. I went with the Panang curry with crispy duck and egg noodles, and it was amazing. The duck skin was perfectly thin and crispy, while the meat was juicy, succulent, and packed with flavor. The Panang curry had the perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors with a nice little kick of spice. The egg noodles were cooked perfectly and really brought the whole dish together. The service was also phenomenal. Not only did she give us such a warm welcome, but she gave great recommendations, kindly walked us through how to order, and checked on us throughout the meal to make sure we had everything we needed and were enjoying the food. Overall, we had such a pleasant experience here. Great food, amazing service, and a genuinely welcoming atmosphere. I'm already looking forward to coming back and exploring more curry combinations. Leta was awesome. You can tell she really enjoys being here and she definitely enhanced our experience. We got to sample all of the curry flavors which I thought was pretty unique and it helped me make a choice. I also liked how Leta was very helpful in recommending protein and noodles. I got the Khao Soi with crispy pork belly and egg noodles. I tried the green curry flavor and thought was pretty good too. I really enjoyed my dish. I thought the dish looked small but it was a decent serving. The fried tofu was okay. I will be coming back here with my wife so she can experience the same wonderful time I did here. read more

Came here on a Friday afternoon right at opening. I love Thai curry and was excited to try this place. It wasn't busy for lunch time, though several people came in to take to-go. Seemed to be quite a few first timers. There's a small parking lot with tight spots that is shared with nearby businesses like a barber and 7-Eleven. I would probably recommend just parking on the street nearby. The place had about three four tops, six two tops, and a handful of bar stool seats facing the window/ parking lot. We were greeted immediately asked if we were first-timers, and were offered samples of all their Curry sauces. All were pretty tasty and had no spice to little spice as the baseline. They take your order at your table -- pick your protein, curry, then base. Add sides (+$) or heat if you'd like. Appetizers, drinks, and some alcohol (beer & wine) options available. We ordered the chicken curry puffs - which was plated with a bit of curry sauce. Would order again. For main foods: I ordered the Khao Soi with egg noodles, grilled steak, a fried egg (+$3) with medium heat. My friend ordered the yellow curry, with crispy chicken, and vegetables (+$1: bean sprouts, cabbage and lime), and hot. Medium was explain to be one step above the heat of the samples we had. I would say it was still pretty mild, but tasty. Friend's 'hot' felt more like a 3-4 out of 10. Her plate definitely could have done with more curry, but we were otherwise pretty happy with our food. Decided to order desert - there were 3 options: Coconut ice cream with corn kernels, mango sticky rice, or a combo which combined both desserts. We opted for the combo. The ice cream was a little iced, sticky rice was tasty and warm. We thoroughly enjoyed our dessert. Service was great. It was just the one person working the front of house when we visited. Coco Curry has amazing customer service! As someone with social anxiety, I felt so welcomed when the staff invited my sister and me in for a free sample. They were so kind and friendly that we ended up coming back a second time to sit down and eat. We felt completely comfortable asking questions about the menu, and the staff were patient, helpful, and never made us feel rushed. That level of kindness really made our experience special. The food was absolutely amazing too, which was just the cherry on top! I'll definitely be coming back. read more
What an adorable Thai cafe in addition to the Little Saigon area. They've been open for around 3 weeks now and I've been eager to come! We got to sample their curry sauces before ordering. There are four steps to order: 1. Choose your protein 2. Choose a curry 3. Choose a base 4. Select your side It was a hard decision but the sampling concept helps my indecisive self to make a better decision! I chose the Fried Chicken Thigh with Khao Soi, with a side of Brown Rice and papaya salad. AMAZING combination. I would highly recommend. The fried chicken was cut into bite sized pieces and was fried to perfection. Usually Khao Soi goes great with chicken so I paired those two together. The Khao Soi comes with a garnish of mustard greens (my fave) and some red onion. The side I chose papaya salad and it was refreshing and crunchy! I added some more spicy sauce to the salad to have more flavor. Their Thai coffee is bomb! If you're looking for a mild version of Vietnamese coffee, Thai coffee is the way to go. Their Thai Tea is on the sweeter side as well as the coffee. So glad CoCoCurry has been introduced to the area. The Build Your Own Curry idea is unique and the dishes are prepared thoughtfully. Where do I start.. I've only eaten here 3times .. each time I go, I pick a different meal and each time the protein is seriously a winner! I have no idea how they do it, the seasoning, the batter they use, chicken, pork, crab, anything they deep fry.. I think that's the cooks skill . Fried chicken and curry it's been awhile since I last visit, and I rarely Yelp reviews.. it has to be really really good for me to yelp.. New to the menu is soft shell crab protein of choice. I've had "soft shell crab before at the buffets" could not eat the whole thing since the shell was still hard to chew or swallow, This crab, was seriously.. flavored, soft but had a crunch outter layer and soft inside, tempura batter was seriously perfection For the curry that goes along with the protein, I picked panang,. I requested the curry on the side, so visually it's not at its best potential.. trust me the flavor and everything speaks for its self! The Thai coffee!! It's like Vietnamese coffee but without the bitterness and the sweetness is well balanced with coconut cream/milk and not super sweet like condense milk. Must try! Also got the pad see ew with crispy chicken. An egg omelette and of course The mango sticky rice. The rice is pandan flavor, not strong or over powering. It was perfect. Since mango is not in season, expect them to be alittle tart, which I loved since it paired well with the pandan sweet sticky rice The couple as always are welcoming! CoCoCurry is a new Thai eatery located just east of a popular pho restaurant in the City Heights neighborhood. There were only a handful of parking spaces marked with pylons and signs that were shared between the businesses in the strip mall. The inside of the suite had countertop, high top, and regular table seating for two dozen customers. The lady owner who was staffing the register was warm and pleasant. She asked if I wanted to sample the different curries to which I gladly agreed. The five varieties were stored in metal containers on display at the service counter like at a gelato shop. A menu sheet described the step-by-step ordering process. The first was to choose from one of five protein categories (vegan, poultry, pork, beef, seafood). There were two to three selections within each category. Next was to pick one of the five curries. Thirdly was to select a base of rice or noodles. The last was to add one side out of seven possibilities. My order consisted of Grilled Pork Steak, Yellow Curry, Egg Noodles, and a Boiled Egg. The food was presented in a plastic takeout container even though I was dining in. The pork steak was a shoulder cut of meat divided into smaller pieces. Carrots, potatoes, and onions were blended in with the mild tasting curry. The soft-boiled egg was sliced in half and placed in a separate well within the container. My only nitpick would be the portion size of the noodles as there should have been more for the price that was discounted 10% for the soft opening promotion. Overall, I gave a rating between four and five stars for my dining experience at CoCoCurry with kudos towards the customer service. read more

As soon as you walk into the establishment, you are greeted by kind staff and a vibrant esthetic. The game changer, the fact that you can taste test each curry before making a decision!!!! I have now returned 4 times, since finding this gem on Instagram. My last visit, Mother's Day. They gave us mommy's, leis and mango sticky rice. How incredibly kind and incredibly delicious. Also, they gave every inch of this restaurant so much detail. Love the vibes and the atmosphere. Please, do yourself a solid and get to Coco Curry. ASAP read more
If you love curry this is the place to visit. They have 5 different curries and they will let you sample each of them before you order. I had the khao soi with chicken and it was delicious. The service was outstanding and the ambiance had a nice vibe. I'll definitely be returning to try out more curries. read more
Wonderful tiny new curry powerhouse in El Cajon blvd. Premade yellow, green, Penang and massaman curries are mated to protein and sides. You can taste curries before ordering just like you taste flavors of ice cream. Every request was met with a smile. Two nitpicky little things: all the curries are made mild, and I want scorching hot! Not a mild curry you add pepper flakes after the fact, but a curry MADE hot where the flavors are infused in the curry itself. The carrots seem to have been hit with a blow-torch rather than spend time under a broiler to get their charred characteristic. While they LOOK charred, they lack the charred taste. read more
Love this small business! Not only do they make greats eats but they are very friendly as well. I thoroughly enjoyed the yellow curry over sliced chicken breast and brown rice with a side of grilled carrots, not to mention the three hot house sauces they offer. The meal cost $15.85 plus tax. There were a lot of good things going on here. First of all, the yellow curry was very well, seasoned, with a mild heat, and delicious. The yellow potatoes and carrots in the curry were tender. The chicken was tender and had that nice grilled flavor, and the brown rice underneath, was properly cooked and had very good texture. The grilled carrots, that I choose from the variety of sides, were very too. Everything was delicious! The hot sauce were great. They are all made in house from grandmother's recipes. The chili paste was fantastic, the green sauce offered a fish sauce base, which was great, and the one with the thinly sliced Thai chili peppers was wonderful. The service was super friendly and welcoming. The place offers a modest amount of inside seating. It gives off a cool clean modern look. This place is a keeper. read more
I found this place via Grubhub. It's located in a small plaza, next to a 7-11. The decor is very cute, unlike many of other Thai places. Lita (i think that's her name) was very welcoming. She told me that it's the 10th day opening for them. She offered me some curry samples. There are five different types of curry - Khao Soi, Yellow, Penang, Green and Massaman. My favorite was Khao Soi. I ordered Chicken with Penang curry and Thai Papaya Salad and Beef with Massaman and Corn Salad. They were very tasty and salad was refreshing. Lita also offered us free Thai tea and Thai coffee. They were also really good. I really liked her customer service and I will definitely go back again. It's good that there's a small parking lot outside so you don't have to spend too much time looking for street parking. It's worth the trip there. Please support this small business. read more
