Build your own Curry spot? Who would have thought we could have Thai fast food? (We'll sort of..) Was craving Thai curry and didn't want to go into a restaurant type setting, and found this spot on Yelp! I was not disappointed at all. Glita was the one who helped make this experience a great one. It was my first time and she let me try the different broths. After you decide which one you like, you basically pick a protein and a carb and can even add extras for an additional charge to your curry. Service was fast, it was clean, and everything tasted delicious. It is such a deal for your wallet! If you don't want it to go, they have indoor seating as well. Can't wait to come back! My favorite bases: Khao Soi and the Green Curry! Tip: make sure you try the sauces.
Fun concept but the proteins and way dishes were served disappointed us. Upon entering, you get to sample each of their curries. This is great for allowing you to make an informed choice you know you'll enjoy. You pick a protein, curry, starch base, and any additional items you'd like to add. However, we wish there was more protein included as there is a lot of the base (like rice or noodles) relative to the rest of the dish. Being served all in one bowl also means that the base soaks up the curry. This worked for the noodles but wasn't great for the rice. Those who like to control how much curry goes with the rest of the dish should get it on the side. We were also not a fan of the mango sticky rice. The rice and mango were okay, but the crunchy bits (I think crispy mung bean) detracted from the dish. Each bite had incredibly hard bits, almost like large seeds, that were unlike any texture I've had added to mango sticky rice. This is a fun concept and the food is good, but pay attention to how the dishes are served or you may have a less than ideal visit.
Was in the area getting my car fixed and was craving thai food. Saw this place on yelp and came in, was greeted so kindly when I came in from the woman up front. She asked if it was my first time and I said yes, so immediately she said for me to try all the curries, which I really appreciated because I typically just order yellow curry since it's the only one i've ever ordered. So I really liked that I had the chance to try all of them because I get scared to order something new that I might not like. I got the Khao Soi curry which the woman said it was her favorite curry and I really liked it too! I got it with crispy pork belly and rice. It's such a warm comforting meal. I never heard of this curry at any other thai places I been so it was nice. I like how you can customize your bowl. She recommended the egg noodles so when I come back I can't wait to try that because I was craving rice today so I opted for rice instead. I loved the cilantro with it actually I wish there was a bit more. I also ordered a thai tea and I liked that as well. Overall would come back especially for the service. She seemed to recognize most of her customers, she just seems really nice and passionate for her work. Prices are pretty typical for thai food. Can't wait to come back. I didn't get to eat inside, but it looked really cute inside, so i'll wanna try to dine in next time and maybe try an appetizer too :)
First time visiting. I rate this a 4 and I will share why. 1. The flavors are good! Green papaya salad, spicy cucumbers and massaman curry were all very enjoyable. 2. The atmosphere is chill with bossa type music in the background. The shop is relatively small but once I was seated I didn't even notice. The large store front window provides plenty of natural light. 3. They have friendly service! They provided us with taste samples of all the curry options. 4. I'll stick my two downside points here... parking is very limited. I feel they deserve more parking, but it also makes for a great takeout. As a girly that loves spicy food, I wish there spice levels were a little hotter. My medium spice felt much more like a mild. Overall I recommend. Especially if you are in the area or if it's on your way home. I think it lends itself to being a good takeout spot.
AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING!!! CoCoCurry has been on my list of places to try since they opened last year, but I just made it there for the first time this week. All I can say is I'm disappointed that I put it off for so long because they're now one of my favorite spots in SD! This place is truly a hidden gem. CoCoCurry is a build-your-own Thai curry spot where you choose between six curries, a base, and a protein. There are so many options that it was hard to choose, but I went with the khao soi curry medium spice with rice as my base and crispy chicken thigh as my protein. Let me just say - they are generous with the portions and don't skimp on the protein. The khao soi curry was PERFECT - sweet, savory, tangy, and spicy. The crispy chicken was well seasoned and crispy. I truly enjoyed every bite of my meal. If it's your first time, they'll give you samples of each curry. I also tried the mango sticky rice which was delicious too. The service was also amazing too. I'm not sure if the woman who helped me is also the owner but she was one of the kindest people I've ever met. Although I ordered to go, you can also dine in. The space is not huge but there's a hour 10 tables and very nice. There is a parking lot but very small. I can't wait to go back and will be going at least once a month now that I know how delicious this spot is!
We came here on a whim and were warmly welcomed by the proprietor, Lita. Parking is a bit tight as the lot isn't very big but we were able to find a spot. Lita welcomed us and let us taste test all the curries. It was very good and we had a hard time deciding which flavor to get. We appreciated being able to taste the curry before ordering as it made us excited to come here again in the future for the other flavors. You can tell the curry is made with quality ingredients as it was robust and flavorful. It was of a good thickness, not watery at all. My group ordered out and as I wasn't very hungry, I kept mine for the later. I ordered the marinated steak strips in the Massaman curry (my #1 recommendation) with egg noodles and side of steamed broccoli. When I finally had my dish, the meat was tender and not overcooked, even after microwaving. The steamed broccoli was standard fare but the noodles were really good. The marinated steak strips were thin but there was a good amount. The only complaint my group had was there was not enough curry. It was sent home in cup - like the kind you'd get for a small cup of soup. At the restaurant, we could see they gave much more curry on the plate than what was given for takeout. It made our dish rather dry and lacking, but I found a way around it by dipping my noodles and beef in the cup. I recommend doing this if you get takeout. I suggest the owner increase the amount of curry given with takeout by using a bigger container. That's the only reason for the 4 stars. Price was reasonable.
Such a good bang for your buck! Their crispy chicken is delicious! I was very satisfied of their food and definitely would be coming back. The workers were really friendly and they also let us sample all the curry before we ordered. The only downside is the plaza they are located in has ver minimal parking but it's definitely a place worth taking time to find parking for. They also run monthly promotions so keep an eye out for that too! Cute interior design and places to sit.
Small parking lot with only a handful of spaces. In a kind of dicey part of town. When you enter, they like you to try all the different curries before you decide. Everything is customizable, including your starch, protein and additional items you would like with your curry. You can also add a side of various small dishes like green papaya salad, tom yum soup and others. My friends wanted to try this place. Great flavors and service! We had a large group and some food was served Luke warm or cold. We told our server who replaced the cold food items. I got medium spicy Khao soi with crispy fish over egg noodles. It was not that spicy at all but I was able to add extra chili to it. Overall we all enjoyed our meals and would return.
A MUST GO-TO FIR CURRY OR SAUCY DISHES! My husband and I came here on the seven day evening. (We were trying a new restaurant in the college area, but found out it was a ghost kitchen.) While looking for a place for dinner nearby, I stumbled across this gem of a place. Parking is tight (small parking lot), but we manage to get a spot. We were greeted as we entered and were offered to sample the curries being offered. It was a small taste on a tiny pink spoon, but don't underestimate the flavors. It was all tasty! I love that there were quite a bit of options between the flavors of sauces, base, and proteins (they even have tofu). A great quick serve place! I ordered the grilled chicken with egg noodles and Khao Soi sauce and optional veggies. My husband ordered the brown rice with grilled chicken and Massaman sauce with broccoli. All were delicious. If you love curry or sauces (I'm a saucer kinda girl), make this place your next meal.
A hidden gem in City Heights!! I'm really hoping they continue to get good business and can expand to a larger space soon! - PARKING - Basically non-existent... there's 1-3 cramped spots right outside the shop but otherwise you might have to drive to the neighboring streets and walk over. - SERVICE/ENVIRONMENT - Similar to the parking situation, the interior of the shop is just as cramped. There's a narrow walkway that leads you to the counter where the staff welcomed us very warmly. She asked if it was our first time visiting, and because it was, she led us through a curry sampler taste test! She gave us small spoons of each curry so that we could make a more informed decision, which we really appreciated! The restaurant only holds about 5-6 tables, most of which only seat 2 people. I wouldn't plan to bring more than 4 people here, otherwise you run the risk of not being seated. - FOOD - Khao Soi: I love Khao Soi so when I saw they had one, I was very excited to try it! After the initial sampling, I was sold! I ordered it with the egg noodles and the fried chicken thigh. The fried chicken thigh was more reminiscent of a chicken tender rather than an actual leg/thigh piece. Still, everything about the dish was delicious! I also got to try my best friend's Penang Curry which she got with Chicken Breast. We both loved the Penang and Khao Soi curry the most, so this was also yummy to me. Her dish came with green beans and bell peppers as well. - OVERALL - Such a hole-in-the-wall and amazing small business! I really do hope they can expand in the future so it won't be as hard to visit them!
This is my new favorite Thai spot! I'm so glad I got to try them out and I'll be a regular here for sure - parking is tiny and there's only a few spots in the small plaza - the owner is so so friendly and welcoming! She gave us a sampling of each curry which was so helpful as we ordered online and were debating between which curry to choose. Now I know which ones I would want to try next time! (1) fried fish fillets with green curry in egg noodles - such a yummy combo, the fish had a light crisp and light salt and pepper seasoning, green curry was sharp and bright and the egg noodles soaked all the goodness in (2) duck leg with khao soi curry in egg noodles - a hit as well! Duck was tender, juicy, and flavor. This curry was slightly richer and deeper in flavor (3) drunken noodle with shrimp - the shrimp was such a good choice here, it was plump and fresh, it could use a little more seasoning but paired with noodles it was great - noodles were good as well! Chewy and not too mushy
What a neat spot tucked away in city heights! The ambience is super hip modern, very unexpected based on the outside. The staff and service is super friendly, as they offer you to sample all 6 curry styles to better guide your decision on what to order. Last but not least, quality of food is delicious. Portions are average but I think really good food. Keep in mind some of their mild options are still kinda spicy. If looking for something truly mild I recommend the mussaman. Will be back!
Cococurry is still as delicious as ever! They updated their menu & made it much clearer and easier to understand for both new & returning customers. I also love that they let you sample every curry before choosing because each one has its own distinct & delicious flavor. The service is always top notch, super attentive, friendly, & quick!

Quick and easy spot for Thai curry and more! All of their curries are made in house and all were delicious. They even offer samples of each to help you decide. The concept is simple, choose a protein and then a curry + base or protein and no curry but upgraded base like fried rice or noodles. We tried the Panang curry with beef over rice, the khao soi with chicken over egg noodles and the yellow curry with grilled pork over rice. Everything was made fresh and tasted great. Also, the service was extremely friendly. They have seating if you want to eat in, or they can pack it to-go for you. Definitely recommend giving it a try! read more

Had a delicious time at CocoCurry. As soon as you get in you're invited to try out all their curries. For this visit I got the khao soo that is DELICIOUS. You can get all curries in mild, medium, or hot. In addition to that the service and ambiance is super welcoming. All around amazing experience read more
Coco Curry is a unique Thai fast casual concept of DIY curry bowl. You choose your base, protein, and curry. First off, the space is immaculate. They did a great job revamping the space and made it welcoming. The service is friendly. You can taste the curry sauces before putting in your order, which was great. All the curries are very flavorful and vary in spice level. They also recently expanded the menu slightly offering non-curry dishes like Pad Thai and Tom Yum noodles. My only complaint is that I wish they'd give you more curry because it arrives in a rather small cup. If you enjoy Thai food, especially curries, give Coco Curry a try! Just beware, parking is limited. read more

This place is so delicious! I went for lunch during work twice now and both times I have enjoyed my picks. The first time I tried the khao soi curry with fried tofu and egg noodles; the second time I tried the panang curry with fried tofu and egg noodles with a thai tea. Both curries were flavorful and the thai tea was sooo good. I cant wait to try more combinations! read more
Decided to give this place a try after seeing it on social media & a friend recommending it. Now I will be recommending it!! They have different options of curry & they offer samples to taste all of them. We got the plate with Yellow Curry with fried chicken, white rice, & pickled cucumber. I also ordered some cream cheese wontons. Lita was friendly & welcoming. The inside has a calming and cute aesthetic. There is plenty of seating and soft music playing. Next time I am going to bring my mom here so she can taste it. read more

This was the first time dining at this small restaurant and it was the previous great Yelp reviews that led me try Coco. This restaurant is tucked in the corner of a small building next to the 7-Eleven, it is easy to miss. Parking is crowded and awkward with only a few available spots for the restaurant and this was around 4:30 pm on a Saturday. When my husband and I walked thru the doors we were met with a welcome smile from the front counter and the aroma of wonderful Thai spices. We told the young man at the front counter that this was our first time dining here and he encouraged us to try all the curries first. All 5 of the curries were different in spice level and taste, but oh so delicious! Our palates were jumping and could hardly wait to try the curry dishes. We chose to eat in and were led to a table in the small dining area. There was a table of 6 already dining when we arrived. We started our meal with 2 appetizers: an order of Crispy Spring Rolls and Cream Cheese Wontons, both served with a sweet and sour dipping sauce. Both were crispy, light and delicious. Off of the entree menu we chose to "Build Your Own Curry": you pick the meat, the curry, the base and any add-ons you might want. I chose the Crispy Duck, with Yellow Curry, atop Rice Noodles and added on Mixed Vegetables. Hubby chose Grilled Chicken, Panang Curry, atop Jasmine Rice and added on Broccoli. Coco Curry offers 3 spice levels to their curry dishes, Mild, Medium and Hot, we both chose medium and it was a perfect level for the both of us - a little "kick" but not overwhelming. Both dishes had a generous portion, exceptional flavor profile, and all ingredients were fresh - a true delight to our palates. If I could have scored our entree's a "6" I definitely would have! If you don't care for curry they have many traditional thai entree options available. Our friendly server was the owner, and our dining experience was great! As we were leaving a musician was setting up, so I am thinking that they may offer music on the weekends? We will definately be back for more. Arrive early so not to have parking issues and get a table. read more

CoCoCurry is located in a small plaza that shares parking with a 7/11 and a couple other shops. I arrived on a Tuesday evening and there was only one other vehicle in the parking lot. The customer service is top-tier. We were able to sample the curry lineup and it made picking my order so much easier. The Khao Soi, Panang Curry, and Yellow Curry stole the show. Friend and I shared the following: - Khao Soi with crispy duck, egg noodles, and spicy cucumber. - Panang Curry with crispy pork belly, rice noodles, and papaya salad. Personal noodle opinion: the egg noodles were the MVP: perfectly cooked and great texture. The rice noodles were a little on the firm side for me. The downsides were that the pork belly was on the fattier side; kind of expected, but still. Also, I wouldn't have minded a bit more meat in the entrees. They've got a sauce bar, perfect for anyone who likes to crank up the flavor or add some spice. I'd recommend this spot if you're into Thai curry with bold flavors and crispy meats. read more

From start to finish our experience was well over a 5 star. We found this place by pure accident and we are beyond glad we did. This was our first time there and the level of service we received was exceptional. They have a unique way of ordering, that we have not seen done at many restaurants. The girl who greeted us gave us samples of all the curry's. The first one (don't remember the name but it starts with a p) and the green ones were our favorite ones. They honestly all tasted amazingly, each one with a different flavor profile. We opted to go with the first curry with a rice base and crispy pork belly. This completely blew our minds, each bite was beyond flavorful. Everything paired perfectly with each other. We ordered the coconut shrimp to try with this curry, which was just as amazing. They have a self serve bar with 3 different "sauces" we added the green spicy one to our shrimp and wontons. I am honestly not someone who likes wontons and I usually don't eat them, but the wontons here were delicious. I'm not sure on the filing, but it was fresh and a bit sweet which paired perfectly with the sauce they bring and the green sauce I mentioned earlier. The drunken noodles did not disappoint, I added crushed chile from the serve self bar to make it spiced ( I ordered them spicy too). I was surprised by the grilled chicken breast, it was cooked to perfection and they give you a good amount of it too. This has been one of the best drunken noodles I've had and I didn't feel sluggish after from all the grease. And my personal favorite the mango sticky rice. A great way to end our meal. The place is a bit on the smaller side, but very cozy and aesthetically pleasing. This is definitely a place you should visit and that we will continue to visit. read more

So yummy and delicious! We ordered the 2 vegetarian options, massaman curry and the green curry. They were both super flavorful and she let us sample the curry before we ordered. We ordered the chicken breast with yellow curry and cabbage, plus the pork belly with massaman curry with rice and veggies. Both dishes were packed with flavor and came in generous portions. We also had the pink milk and the Thai tea with coconut milk, and both drinks were refreshing and so good. While waiting for my mango sticky rice to go order, the staff kindly let me sample all of their curries so I could know what to try next time--and they were all delicious. I honestly don't know how I managed to make room for the mango sticky rice after everything else, but I'm glad I did. It was the perfect way to end the meal. The only small downside is that the parking lot is limited, but don't let that discourage you. The food, drinks, and service make it absolutely worth coming here. read more

Straightforward and simple. Clean and fresh place that simply makes tasty curries. I chose the crispy duck leg and it was moist and crispy. I had been misled by some YELP reviewers who praised the Khao Soi. (Khao Soi is a traditional curried noodle soup from Northern Thailand.) The flavors were excellent but I was seeking the soup base and the contrasting noodles. (Soi 30th has an authentic version.) read more

New Thai curry spot in city heights! There was a small parking lot with a few spots. Love how they gave curry samples before committing to which curry sauce. The staff described their concept as the "chipotle of curry" haha which is exactly what this place is. You choose a protein, your base, curry sauce, and your side. My boyfriend got the khao soi curry with crispy pork belly on rice noodles and a side of spicy cucumbers. I got the panang curry with grilled salmon on egg noodles with a side of papaya salad. They were doing a soft opening special and offered 10% off!! Tried their Thai ice tea and Thai coffee but it was too sweet for me. Only suggestion is that in the future, maybe they can work on offering a non sweetened drink option? Food was so delicious and flavorful, will definitely be back! read more
