We got seated right away and l the restaurant was decorated with so many beautiful Thai pieces! The servers were so sweet and quick! Food was amazing!!! We loved the chicken larb! They even gave us extra spicy sauce on the side since my bf likes spicy and I can't do spicy. Tom yum with the giant prawns were good but definitely on the sweet side. But our favorite of the night was the soft shell crab pad Thai!! We still think about this dish & think of driving down from OC just for it! The crab was crispy and there were pieces of crab meat in the pad Thai mixed with the eggs!! So delicious! 10/10

I had a very enjoyable meal on a Thursday night recently. I ordered a couple different dishes, and they were all good in their own ways! Service was good. They came by to remind us that kitchen was closing. E1 pineapple fried rice $18.95 - I always love cashews in pineapple fried rice B5 papaya salad $12.45 - spicy level 6 was good D3 Chiang Mai steak khao soi $32.95 - steak was sooo tender. Highly recommend! E4 Bangkok ribeye salad $32.95 - Steak was so good. Salad was so refreshing. I loved this dish! Parking is plentiful in this plaza shared with Nijiya market. Apple Pay accepted No outdoor seating

Finally stopped into this cute spot on Convoy after walking past it so many times! The interior is charming, but the experience was a bit of a mixed bag. We arrived around 8:00 PM, and even though the restaurant wasn't full, it took quite a while for us to be seated. It felt a bit odd since there was no line, though they do close at 9:00 PM. What we ordered: The Steak Salad was delicious - the apple slices added a perfect, crisp sweetness. The Pad See Ew with chicken was easily my favorite dish of the night. The Tom Yum Noodle Soup was just okay - I really wish it had vegetables to round it out. My friend also found the Thai Tea to be a bit too sweet for her taste. We asked for "Medium" spice level for everything, but it all came out spice-less. Having to add our own chili at the table definitely took away from the flavor profile. The staff began cleaning around us while we were still eating, which made the end of the meal feel a little rushed. We eventually headed out around 9:30 PM. Overall, it's a lovely restaurant with solid food, but the service timing and spice accuracy were a bit off this time around.

Koon Thai is one of the better Thai restaurants in the area. Location wise - this is in one of the busiest plazas, so plan accordingly if you don't want to wait a ridiculously long time for dinner. Anyone that says theres plenty of parking hasn't been here during a weekend evening often enough and it shows. They do use yelp for reservations, so keep that in mind The aesthetic and vibe is bright, vibrant, and smells hella good once you get inside. It can seem a bit cramped, but it is quite accessible - my dad is in a scooter so they were able to accommodate despite it being such a busy place. The food always hits, even if its basic pad thai. Ive never had a complaint for their food quality. So definitely try everything on the menu, it has been quite consistent. Portions are huge, basically had a whole other meal for a midnight snack.

Great Thai food. The khao soi and crispy pork belly were both delicious. The khao soi couldn't be made with no spicy, but the mild spicy isn't bad at all. Walked in Thursday evening with a group of 5

Was craving boat noodles & our usual spot was closing early so we decided to give Koon Thai a try. Been here for other dishes before & everything else we've tried did not disappoint. Boat noodles here had a good amount of meat & Chinese broccoli. The broth is rich & aromatic with a good balance of saltiness & sweetness. Not too gamey from the liver or pork/beef blood. We stopped in about 45 mins before closing and were surprised to see a full house. It was so busy that they were still accepting customers 10 minutes before closing.

Koon Thai Kitchen is literally one of my favorite Thai spots in San Diego. Their noodles are always on point, the pad thai and pad see ew come out super saucy (just how I like it) and packed with flavor every time. The tom yum soup is also a must, and honestly you can't really go wrong with anything on the menu. Thai tea is solid too. The staff is always friendly and quick, which I appreciate. Parking is pretty manageable during off hours, but it can get a little hectic during lunch since that plaza gets busy. The space itself feels really nice, kind of elevated and cute. It is perfect for a birthday dinner or a date night. Definitely one of my go-to spots when I'm craving Thai.

I think I came on an off day because the food was alright but the service... yeah that part was rough. I've honestly had better hospitality from understaffed fast food spots during a rush, just to give you an idea. I made reservations just in case but it wasn't busy so we were seated right away. The host was very sweet which gave me hope, but everyone else did not match that energy. The menu is fun though, bright, colorful, and packed with options. It was a little overwhelming because everything sounded good, so we ordered a few dishes to try a variety. It didn't take us long to decide, but when our server came over to drop off water and sharing plates, she assumed "you guys need more time huh." We said no, we're ready, but she walked away anyway. That already threw the vibe off. When she came back, asking about spice levels somehow turned into a whole situation. We have only ever been to other Thai restaurants that offer a 0-10 scale, so sorry we didn't know Koon Thai was different!! A little explanation for new guests seems reasonable to me. She said level 5 is "mild," which felt high, so I asked for a 3 and she responded with "we only have 5." It was confusing and honestly way more complicated than it needed to be. Food came out fairly quick but not together. One person asked for chili sauce, the food runner nodded and never came back, so we had to flag him down again. Not a busy night either, so not sure what that was about. Som Tum Thai (Papaya Salad) Chopped green papaya with green beans, tomatoes, peanut dressing This was actually one of the better dishes. Tangy, fresh, and I liked the garlic flavor. It had a nice balance and didn't feel heavy. Yum Pla Todd (Whole Fried Fish) Crispy fried whole fish with spicy lime dressing, apple, herbs, and peanuts The presentation was beautiful, but the flavor leaned way too sweet. It almost tasted like fish with a lemonade sauce. The apple herb salad on top was refreshing though and helped balance it a bit. Pad Kee Mao (Spicy Noodles with Beef) Wide rice noodles stir fried with bell peppers and basil This had good flavor and a really large portion. The downside was the beef, it was very dry and had that grey beige look which kind of threw me off. Kraprao Moo Krob (Crispy Pork Belly with Basil and Rice) Crispy pork belly with basil served over jasmine rice It was salty and dry, and some pieces weren't even crispy, just soft fat that didn't look appetizing. Almost like someone chewed up a piece and spit onto our plate. I did like the fresh basil though. We came here to celebrate a birthday so I really wanted it to be a good dinner, but we left pretty disappointed. I get that off days happen, but based on this visit, I'd probably go somewhere else.

    Mango Sticky Rice

Everything here was a 10/10, but my favorite bite had to be the mango sticky rice. It truly was the BEST MSR I've ever had in my life... The mangos were perfectly ripe, the rice was so soft and just melted in your mouth, and the coconut cream adds an amazing richness and nuttiness to the dish. The restaurant was decked out with whimsical decor, and the staff were very helpful. There was a bit of a wait but I would do it a million times over again for the mango sticky rice

So glad we found this Thai spot! Ordered family style to try multiple dishes and everything we got was delicious. Plenty of tables inside and a pretty decent size parking lot right outside the restaurant. Excited to come back and try some more dishes!

I haven't been to Koon Thai since 2019, and coming back they seemed to have revamped the menu. For some reason I've never sat on the left hand side of the restaurant, so it came as a surprise to see how much more seating was revealed! Craving something soupy, I got a Tom Yum Noodle. The creamy tom yum was hearty and paired with chewy rice noodles, shrimps, chicken, half a boiled egg, sprinkled with peanuts, cilantro, and served with a lime. I ordered a spice level 3 and it was the perfect ratio of spicy to soup. I thought every bite was full of flavor and so heartwarming especially on these chilly days we've been experiencing. I also had some Pad Thai. Theirs was more heavy on the tamarind making it more red, for a mild flavor. It was more saucier than I prefer, but the portions were generous. The service is efficient but took awhile for the soup! Overall, I do think Koon Thai is a strong contender for Thai food here in SD! Their menu is extensive but the dishes are great quality. Hoping to try some newer dishes soon.

First time here. The wife and I got seated right away for being so busy on a Friday night. The service and food was good. They had a lot of good choices on the menu. Would definitely come back and try something else on the menu.

I love Thai food! The interior is just stunning and cozy at the same. The food came out pretty quickly so that was really nice. So far I haven't ever been disappointed by Thai food and this location was so good. I forgot the actual dish name of the Basil Chicken but it was incredible. I arrived near opening so it wasn't too crowded but by the time our food came out, customers filled up the place! Totally recommend if you stop by the area!

I asked not to have any spice level added to my food, but the food came out and was just generally lacking flavor. It was very bland and even though there was a generous portion of vegetables in the dish the mock duck was super mushy. All the places I've ever been to it's sautéed crispy. Also, the the noodles were all stuck together. Like if you put noodles in water to let it boil, but you don't stir them and they just boil like that in a clump. The restaurant was very cute inside. Becky always goes above and beyond, remembering my allergies, checking every ingredient, and making sure that I'm ordering food that works for my body while still bringing all the richness and depth of Thai cuisine. Even on days when I forget to ask for something to be removed, Becky catches it immediately and keeps me safer. The level of awareness, care, and follow-through is genuinely life-saving and endlessly appreciated. Becky is warm, attentive, thoughtful, incredibly detail-oriented, and radiates a kindness that makes every experience feel welcoming and supported. Every interaction with Becky leaves me feeling cared for, respected, and genuinely valued as a customer. The food itself? Absolutely incredible. The chicken fried rice is one of my favorites -- the perfect balance of textures and flavors. Each bite brings together tender, well-seasoned chicken; fluffy rice with that subtle smoky wok aroma; crisp vegetables that still have a slight crunch; and seasoning that hits that sweet spot between savory, aromatic, and comforting. It's one of those dishes that feels simple on the surface but sings with layers of flavor the moment you start eating. The ginger and salmon stir fry is bright, fragrant, and beautifully prepared. The ginger adds just the right zing, the vegetables stay vibrant and fresh, and the salmon comes out tender, flaky, and infused with the sauce in all the best ways. The cashew stir fry is another flavorful amazing dish -- a perfect harmony of crisp vegetables, roasted cashews, savory sauce, and protein that soaks up all that flavor. Every bite is crunchy, warm, and satisfying. Their egg rolls are some of the best around: crispy on the outside, piping hot inside, filled with savory goodness, and perfectly paired with their dipping sauce. The Panang salmon always catches my eye -- beautifully cooked salmon nestled in a rich, creamy, aromatic panang curry. The sauce is silky, fragrant with coconut and spices, slightly sweet, slightly spicy, and the kind of dish you daydream about afterward. Such vivid and beautiful colors as well. My friend raves nonstop about their mixed seafood stir fries -- generous portions, fresh seafood, bold flavors, and consistently delicious. They also make excellent Thai teas, including a vegan version that is so thoughtful and so appreciated. It's creamy, refreshing, and delicious without sacrificing flavor. The service overall is always warm, attentive, and genuinely caring. It feels even better than how people describe family. The chefs clearly know what they're doing -- every dish comes out tasting like it was prepared with intention and pride. The entire team creates an experience that keeps me coming back again and again. And I love their outdoor patio -- shaded, spacious, and comfortable. It's a relaxing space that makes the meal even better. Thank you, Becky, and thanks to everyone at Sukho Thai for making every visit safe, delicious, and full of kindness. Absolutely one of my favorite spots.

This is my first experience with KinLen. We looked over the menu and saw the descriptions of mostly Thai food on the menu. Bahn Thai is the comparison since that has been our go to. My partner wanted Tom Yum soup, Drunken noodles (preferably with vegetables) and I ordered as a starter crab rangoon cigar roll and for me a fried pork belly. Here are my musings, the Tom Yum soup was good. The crab rangoon should really be better suited to the crunch of wontons (but nice try). The fried pork belly was a little pricey for the amount received since this only came with sauces and no rice. The Drunken noodles were fine but it should also have an option of vegetables to add instead of tofu, chicken or shrimp. Overall, I might try them again sometime if I am in the area. Nothing still beats my go to place. But as Yelpers go, it's always nice to try new places.
