    Sticky Mango dessert

I recently tried Koon Thai Kitchen for the first time, and I was very impressed! Everything was fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. The Tom Kha Soup (B7) was outstanding. The creamy coconut broth was perfectly balanced with Napa cabbage, galangal, lemongrass, lime leaves, mushrooms, and fresh cilantro. Every spoonful was rich, comforting, and packed with authentic Thai flavor. And the sticky mango rice was incredible--sweet, creamy, and the perfect way to end the meal. The mango was ripe and juicy, and the sticky rice paired beautifully with the coconut sauce. This was my first order from Koon Thai Kitchen, but it definitely won't be my last. If you're looking for delicious Thai food with amazing flavors and quality ingredients, I highly recommend giving them a try!

Classic convoy staple that we have been going to throughout the years. The atmosphere is cute with very nice little decoration throughout the restaurant. Got pad kee mao (8 spicy, which was decently tolerable, I would consider getting more if you are preferring more hissing spicy). Papaya salad is a solid classic. Would recommend. Their pa nang curry was really yummy and had a strong kick so you will really feel that spice. Server was attentive, checking in on us to see if we needed anything. Overall would come back, perhaps get stronger spice as well nice time.

I usually love this place! Today, something just was off... Food: 3/5 We ordered the Khao Soi Chicken and Vegetable Pad Thai. The Khao Soi noodles were too soft for our liking, and the chicken was dry. The coconut milk was very forward tasting, and the broth carried the dish. The Pad Thai was more sour than flavorful, which I hadn't ever experienced at this place before. I usually always like the Pad Thai here; maybe it was an off day? I would come here again to give this place another chance. The level 6 spice is about as spicy as those XXtra Spicy Hot Cheetos. Service: 3/5 There was nothing outstanding about the service. Atmosphere: 3/5 It was very lively in here! It is decently packed for dinner. The music was just a bit loud, and I felt like I was yelling to keep my conversation. I would recommend this place for a meal with friends. Final rating: 3/5

There sure are a lot of things to pick from the menu. Eventually I went with something I never tried. I also tried their thai tea, which is really sweet. The place is decorated with a lot of things. The pork was very crispy and the sauce in the noodle was tasty.

Our new Thai restaurant spot! Welcoming atmosphere. First customers after opening @ 11AM. Got our orders within 10-15 mins. Som Tum (Thai Papaya Salad) - Crunchy and fresh papaya strips and veggies combined with the perfect balance of sour, sweetness and salty umami flavor with just a slight hint of spicy as we requested. 5/5 Shrimp Pad Thai - right amount and balance of sourness, sweet and saltiness. Perfectly cooked noodles and generous amount of shrimp. 5/5 Panang Curry (Beef) - tender beef and vegetables with the right thickness of rich/creamy coconut/peanut sauce the way we like it. We prefer meat cubes rather sliced beef. 4/5 Mango Sticky Rice - Rich and melt in your mouth sticky rice with thick not too sweet coconut sauce. Forgot to ask where they get their mangoes, it was sweet. 5/5 Staff were nice and attentive. Highly recommended if you're looking/craving for delicious Thai food! No issues with parking during our lunch.

The interior of Koon Thai Kitchen is so pretty. Very photo-worthy! We were there at lunch time on Friday and ordered tom yum noodles and bento box of the day (the protein changes each day, but it also comes with half hard boiled egg, rice, vegetable curry, and pad thai. Since it was a Friday, we had Kraprao Kai (ground chicken with basil) as the protein. It was a good assortment to try various items, and every item was tasty. The service was polite and timely. We also ordered Thai Iced Coffee and Thai Ice Tea. Both a little sweet for our preference. But menu is very extensive, and we can't wait to return to try other items.

Stopped by Koon Thai after almost a decade and was pleasantly surprised to see that it had been remodeled or redecorated. The inside is now a lot prettier than I remembered, with colorful lights and lanterns. We sat down and were promptly attended to. For food we ordered the beef jerky, eggplant with beef and chicken larb. The food arrived within minutes and was fresh and hot. The beef jerky was thin strips of beef that were well cooked but still tender, accompanied by a sour chilly sauce to dip into. The eggplant with beef was also delicious, with a lot of beef slices and eggplant, very flavorful and just the right spice level at 6. The chicken larb was also delicious, though not as limey as some places. Overall it was a decent spot for Thai food and they give you a lot of choices.

I had a very enjoyable meal on a Thursday night recently. I ordered a couple different dishes, and they were all good in their own ways! Service was good. They came by to remind us that kitchen was closing. E1 pineapple fried rice $18.95 - I always love cashews in pineapple fried rice B5 papaya salad $12.45 - spicy level 6 was good D3 Chiang Mai steak khao soi $32.95 - steak was sooo tender. Highly recommend! E4 Bangkok ribeye salad $32.95 - Steak was so good. Salad was so refreshing. I loved this dish! Parking is plentiful in this plaza shared with Nijiya market. We got seated right away and l the restaurant was decorated with so many beautiful Thai pieces! The servers were so sweet and quick! Food was amazing!!! We loved the chicken larb! They even gave us extra spicy sauce on the side since my bf likes spicy and I can't do spicy. Tom yum with the giant prawns were good but definitely on the sweet side. But our favorite of the night was the soft shell crab pad Thai!! We still think about this dish & think of driving down from OC just for it! The crab was crispy and there were pieces of crab meat in the pad Thai mixed with the eggs!! So delicious! 10/10

Came on a Wednesday evening and did not have to wait at all. The service was amazing and informative of all the dishes. We settled on the Chiang Mai Steak Khao Soi, Crab Fried Rice, and Cream Cheese rangoon. The steak in the khao soi was a little tough and chewy but the noodles and soup itself was amazing. The crab fried rice was great, you can definitely taste the crab meat in the dish and it paired nicely when also eaten with the khao soi soup. The cream cheese rangoon was great too and I loved how it was heavily filled. The atmosphere was amazing and lively and felt so authentic. I would definitely recommend and come back again.

Finally stopped into this cute spot on Convoy after walking past it so many times! The interior is charming, but the experience was a bit of a mixed bag. We arrived around 8:00 PM, and even though the restaurant wasn't full, it took quite a while for us to be seated. It felt a bit odd since there was no line, though they do close at 9:00 PM. What we ordered: The Steak Salad was delicious - the apple slices added a perfect, crisp sweetness. The Pad See Ew with chicken was easily my favorite dish of the night. The Tom Yum Noodle Soup was just okay - I really wish it had vegetables to round it out. My friend also found the Thai Tea to be a bit too sweet for her taste. We asked for "Medium" spice level for everything, but it all came out spice-less. Having to add our own chili at the table definitely took away from the flavor profile. The staff began cleaning around us while we were still eating, which made the end of the meal feel a little rushed. We eventually headed out around 9:30 PM. Overall, it's a lovely restaurant with solid food, but the service timing and spice accuracy were a bit off this time around.

I went with one of my girlfriends tonight at about 5:30 PM. We were quickly seated. I ordered a mango lemonade, which came out quite fast and was beautiful. It tasted pretty good too. I asked the server for recommendations on the menu, but she seemed startled by my question, like she was not used to giving recommendations. The two items that she did recommend didn't really sound appealing so I went with Pad See Ew with mock duck. That's one of my go to dishes at a Thai restaurant. I asked not to have any spice level added to my food, but the food came out and was just generally lacking flavor. It was very bland and even though there was a generous portion of vegetables in the dish the mock duck was super mushy. All the places I've ever been to it's sautéed crispy. Also, the the noodles were all stuck together. Like if you put noodles in water to let it boil, but you don't stir them and they just boil like that in a clump. The restaurant was very cute inside. I would be open to trying it again just because I've heard so many good things that I can't believe this is their standard experience.

The fact that they were vegan-friendly immediately earned a spot on my radar. After a long work…read moreweek, I pictured myself enjoying a quiet, peaceful dinner where I could decompress and recharge. Instead, I accidentally walked into what felt like the culinary cousin of a nightclub. The music was pumping, the energy was high, and any thoughts of a tranquil retreat disappeared faster than my appetizer. Maybe it's a completely different vibe during the day, but at night, this place is definitely alive. That said, once I adjusted my expectations (and accepted that my meditation session would have to wait), I had a great time. The restaurant is located inside Sky Deck, an indoor food hall with multiple vendors. Finding it felt a bit like a scavenger hunt since the signage wasn't very obvious, but after asking around, I eventually made my way there. I started with the garlic green beans after seeing another reviewer rave about them, and wow- they were not exaggerating. The dish arrived with a tiny umbrella perched on top, which was both adorable and unexpectedly glamorous for a plate of green beans. This appetizer was small but mighty. Every bite was packed with flavor, and if I hadn't already ordered an entrée, I absolutely would have ordered a second round. For my main course, I chose the Pad See Ew with fried tofu at medium spice. Apparently, their definition of "medium" and my definition of "medium" are not close relatives. This dish came with a kick! Halfway through, I found myself wishing I had ordered something sweet to balance things out. Instead, I bravely faced the spice armed only with hot water and a slice of lime. Um, it was a battle. While the portion size wasn't quite as large as what I've seen at similar restaurants, it ended up being exactly the right amount for me that evening. I left satisfied without feeling overly full. The service was wonderful as well. The waitresses were kind, and the hostess checked in during my meal, which made the experience feel welcoming and attentive. Although I didn't get the quiet, zen-like end to my work week that I had envisioned, I ended up enjoying something different: a fun solo date surrounded by great food, upbeat music, and the infectious energy of the crowd. Sometimes the universe gives you a peaceful retreat, and sometimes it gives you spicy noodles and a soundtrack. This time, I got the latter- and I'm not mad about it.

Such a beautiful Thai restaurant located within the Del Mar Sky Deck with incredibly flavorful…read moredishes! We surely left sated and with full and happy bellies. What we tried: Thai Iced Tea with coconut milk Fresh Spring Rolls with shrimp Tom Kha with shrimp Moo Yang Mixture Set Braised Beef Panang Curry Thai Sweet Sticky Rice with Mango Everything was truly topnotch. Every dish we got was so tasty and just made with love. One thing that was worth noting though, was how soft and tender the proteins were on the chef's signature dishes that we ordered. The braised beef just melts in your mouth! Their Thai Iced Tea was not too sweet and the mango sticky rice was utter perfection! The ambiance was amazing as their decor was not only simply exquisite, but so eye catching and interesting too, and the staff--they were so kind and attentive. You get the kind of service that will make you want to come back. They just make you feel so welcome here. Overall, we're absolutely delighted to have had dinner here and it certainly won't be the last time.
