    Pad Thai with chicken
    Jayne B.

We stumbled upon this hidden gem while searching for Thai food near our appointment--and what a find it turned out to be! The chicken pad Thai was absolutely delicious--perfectly balanced flavors with just the right amount of sweetness, tang, and savory goodness. The noodles were cooked just right, the chicken was tender, and every bite kept us going back for more. If you're in the Kearny Mesa area and craving Thai food, this spot is definitely worth a visit. We'll be back for sure!

Tom 8. Tod Mun (Fish Cake), that cucumber salsa is awesome!
    Matthew S.

This is a bit of a hole in the wall place, no air conditioning, no fountain drinks, just authentic Thai food. I had the Tod Mun to start. The minced fish cakes were prepared well and the cucumber salsa was outstanding. I ordered a green curry with beef, spicy three and I was very happy. The dish was spicy and not too hot. Service was attentive and even offered a tapioca dessert on the house. If you are craving a real Thai experience, this place will definitely provide it. They do have lunch specials, so I will be back to sample more of the menu.

This place serves the BEST Thai food! The flavors are incredibly authentic, everything tastes fresh, and you can tell the dishes are made with care. The service was fast, and the staff was kind and welcoming. Reasonable price. Highly recommend!

I went to Chaba Thai many years ago and had quite the impressive experience. Returned yesterday to take my mom for an early Mother's Day dinner and oh man, this might be my new favorite Thai spot in SD! We got the Pad Thai with chicken and Green Curry with Chicken...so delicious and all of the flavors were on par. I was definitely once again quite impressed that many years later this spot still delivers. Service was wonderful, atmosphere was clean, and they even offer complimentary dessert that was so yummy. Definitely coming back for sure! If you're in the area, it is a must-try!

Came into Shaba Thai Kitchen today and honestly... you can tell right away they really take pride in their food. There's a reason they were Yelp Best Food 2023. We ordered a few things and everything hit. First, the crispy basil chicken with white rice oh my God, that chicken was amazing. Super flavorful, perfectly cooked, just really, really good. Then we got the Chinese broccoli with crispy pork and that took it to another level. The pork was crispy, the broccoli had so much flavor, and together it was just rich and satisfying. The Khao Soi noodles were another standout. The noodles were delicious, everything tasted fresh, and the flavors were on point. But honestly, the crab fried rice was the highlight. That thing was unreal. So much flavor, loaded with crab easily my favorite dish. Definitely one of those plates you keep going back to. We finished with the tapioca in coconut milk, and that hit the spot. Light, sweet, super comforting. Perfect way to end the meal. Overall, everything came out fresh, flavorful, and done right. Service was smooth, food was perfect, and the whole experience was fantastic. Real gem for Thai food I'm definitely coming back. Great location too, plenty of parking, super easy to get in and out. If you're in San Diego, this place is a must-try. Adding pics so you can see for yourself. Amazing location, inside as well cool decor, great vibes great ambience. 8010 Claremont Mesa Blvd., San Diego, CA 92111 Open daily 11AM-9PM 858-503-7777 #ShabaThaiKitchen #YelpBestFood2023 #SanDiegoEats #ThaiFoodDoneRight #MustTrySD #FoodieFindsSD

I just discovered this small, family owned Thai place in San Diego...found it by following a local Yelper, and I'm so glad I did. The dishes here are fresh, flavorful, and not greasy... I ordered:Tod Mun (fish cakes) perfectly cooked, very flavorful, not oily...Beef Salad was big portion, delicious, with just the right hint of spice , Pad See Ew with Seafood was so tasty, high quality seafood, full of flavor...Crab Fried Rice not greasy at all, really enjoyable... Service was attentive, the restaurant was clean, though parking is a bit tight...I'll definitely be coming back, especially to try some of the other dishes !

I'll start with the bad -- Parking Lot Sucks, dining room is a little run down and a little "untidy". Good -- Vegetable Pad Thai was delicious!!, Service was very kind and friendly, my to-go portion was large

Very authentic and delicious Thai food at Chaba Thai Kitchen! The service was pretty fast and the ambiance was simple and nice. I really enjoyed the red curry , but the star was the basil eggplant dish, so amazing! They even gave a delicious milk tapioca dessert which was the perfect ending to the meal :) Food: 4.5/5 Service: 4.5/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Value: 4/5 Overall: 4.33/5

Chaba Thai is my favorite Thai restaurant in San Diego! The food can be spicy, so choose your spice level wisely. The pad Thai and yellow curry are standout favorites. The best thing on the menu is their tapioca dessert! We have received this in a small complimentary bowl every time we've dined in. The sweet coconut milk compliments the small tapioca pearls, melon, and coconut.

Okay one of the best Thai places in town! The seasoning is there and a 2 for the tom kha is perfect!! Honestly the best tom kha I've had in a very long time. The pad Thai and laab was perfectly seasoned and we did for a 2 spicy, could have went up to a 3! I love how you can still taste the spices and the seasonings since the spice doesn't over power anything!! Would come back again and try other menu items, service was quick as we came at a quiet time, and the interior is super cozy -- you know it's the place for locals!

Today i ordered the pad see eww lunch special with tofu. You will be brought a small bowl of soup as you await for your dish. I was unsure of the name of the soup but the broth tasted revitalizing. The dish came out pretty quick and i can see the smoke fuming off the noodles. The aroma that wafted thru the air had an essence of a classic pad see eww dish. The smell of sweet and sour. Dish was great and great flavors. Thank you Naree for serving me today great customer service

Chaba Thai Kitchen is a long time eatery in the Kearny Mesa neighborhood near one of the gyms where I exercise so it was convenient for dinner after a recent workout. The suite is in the Mercury Village Shopping Center that seems to always have open parking spaces despite the numerous businesses. The inside had seating for up to 28 customers. The decor was rather plain with a few photo frames hanging on one wall as opposed to some Thai restaurants that have intricate artwork and sculptures representing the motherland. A menu booklet was available, however the business didn't have any to-go menus which I found to be a disservice in this day and age of takeout and deliveries. The choices were plentiful, but I stuck with one of my usual items in the Spicy Basil Noodles (aka Drunken Noodles) with a level two out of ten for spiciness. Stir-fried flat rice noodles were cooked with basil leaves, fresh Thai chiles, onions, and bell peppers. For a protein, I picked the mixed seafood that had calamari, fish, green mussels, and shrimp. My plate was prepared quickly with a portion size that I thought was average for the $20+ price. It didn't seem to be as generous as my fellow reviewers wrote about before the pandemic, but times have changed. There were six calamari rings, two pieces of fish, two mussels, and three shrimp included in the mixed seafood. That amount cost $5 more than the base price which had veggies or tofu as the noodle toppings. The level two heat was mild yet still very noticeable. I wonder what level eight or nine would have tasted like. I gave a three star rating for my meal at Chaba Thai Kitchen.

I asked the server for recommendations on the menu, but she seemed startled by my question, like she was not used to giving recommendations. The two items that she did recommend didn't really sound appealing so I went with Pad See Ew with mock duck. That's one of my go to dishes at a Thai restaurant. I asked not to have any spice level added to my food, but the food came out and was just generally lacking flavor. It was very bland and even though there was a generous portion of vegetables in the dish the mock duck was super mushy. All the places I've ever been to it's sautéed crispy. Also, the the noodles were all stuck together. Like if you put noodles in water to let it boil, but you don't stir them and they just boil like that in a clump. The restaurant was very cute inside. I would be open to trying it again just because I've heard so many good things that I can't believe this is their standard experience.

With a long list of allergies, I can't order anything "as is," and yet every single meal from Sukho Thai is not only safer for me but deeply flavorful and consistently wonderful. Becky deserves the highest praise. Becky always goes above and beyond, remembering my allergies, checking every ingredient, and making sure that I'm ordering food that works for my body while still bringing all the richness and depth of Thai cuisine. Even on days when I forget to ask for something to be removed, Becky catches it immediately and keeps me safer. The level of awareness, care, and follow-through is genuinely life-saving and endlessly appreciated. Becky is warm, attentive, thoughtful, incredibly detail-oriented, and radiates a kindness that makes every experience feel welcoming and supported. Every interaction with Becky leaves me feeling cared for, respected, and genuinely valued as a customer. The food itself? Absolutely incredible. The chicken fried rice is one of my favorites -- the perfect balance of textures and flavors. Each bite brings together tender, well-seasoned chicken; fluffy rice with that subtle smoky wok aroma; crisp vegetables that still have a slight crunch; and seasoning that hits that sweet spot between savory, aromatic, and comforting. It's one of those dishes that feels simple on the surface but sings with layers of flavor the moment you start eating. The ginger and salmon stir fry is bright, fragrant, and beautifully prepared. The ginger adds just the right zing, the vegetables stay vibrant and fresh, and the salmon comes out tender, flaky, and infused with the sauce in all the best ways. The cashew stir fry is another flavorful amazing dish -- a perfect harmony of crisp vegetables, roasted cashews, savory sauce, and protein that soaks up all that flavor. Every bite is crunchy, warm, and satisfying. Their egg rolls are some of the best around: crispy on the outside, piping hot inside, filled with savory goodness, and perfectly paired with their dipping sauce. The Panang salmon always catches my eye -- beautifully cooked salmon nestled in a rich, creamy, aromatic panang curry. The sauce is silky, fragrant with coconut and spices, slightly sweet, slightly spicy, and the kind of dish you daydream about afterward. Such vivid and beautiful colors as well. My friend raves nonstop about their mixed seafood stir fries -- generous portions, fresh seafood, bold flavors, and consistently delicious. They also make excellent Thai teas, including a vegan version that is so thoughtful and so appreciated. It's creamy, refreshing, and delicious without sacrificing flavor. The service overall is always warm, attentive, and genuinely caring. It feels even better than how people describe family. The chefs clearly know what they're doing -- every dish comes out tasting like it was prepared with intention and pride. The entire team creates an experience that keeps me coming back again and again. And I love their outdoor patio -- shaded, spacious, and comfortable. It's a relaxing space that makes the meal even better. Thank you, Becky, and thanks to everyone at Sukho Thai for making every visit safe, delicious, and full of kindness. We looked over the menu and saw the descriptions of mostly Thai food on the menu. Bahn Thai is the comparison since that has been our go to. My partner wanted Tom Yum soup, Drunken noodles (preferably with vegetables) and I ordered as a starter crab rangoon cigar roll and for me a fried pork belly. Here are my musings, the Tom Yum soup was good. The crab rangoon should really be better suited to the crunch of wontons (but nice try). The fried pork belly was a little pricey for the amount received since this only came with sauces and no rice. The Drunken noodles were fine but it should also have an option of vegetables to add instead of tofu, chicken or shrimp. Overall, I might try them again sometime if I am in the area. Nothing still beats my go to place. But as Yelpers go, it's always nice to try new places.
