Ordered take out and so glad we did this food was delicious! The tofu was crispy and came with plenty of dipping sauce. The chicken wings were saucy and cooked perfectly. The crab rangoon was so plump and full of a delicious cream cheese mixture, my favorite item! The spring rolls were a perfect mixture, not too thick, lots of dipping sauce. The drunken noodles were so good and filling. Food was delivered on time and tasted phenomenal. Would order again.

New favorite Thai takeout in San Diego! Decided to change things up and try Bahn Thai for takeout and I'm so glad I did! First, the Thai fried rice has a depth of umami flavor I wasn't expecting from a fried rice, truly delicious. The Bangkok stir fry was perfectly balanced with a slightly sweet, spicy sauce, fresh veggies and chicken. The place looked very small inside, definitely more of a takeout vibe, but the food was ready when they told us it would be and came hot and fresh

One of the best Thai food spots in the University Heights area!! The thai iced tea will have you levitating. Cues Dua Lipa ‼ The food was so flavorful and filling. Big portions here so keep that in mind if you don't like leftovers. We are foodies that don't throw away food. Give it to your mother or brother or sister or friend. You feel me. My hubby enjoyed the Pad Thai and Sweet Chili Wings. The ingredients, spices, and veggies took the Pad Thai to the next level. I ordered the Pad See Ew and tried a Sweet Chili Wing. Perfection. I ordered the medium spicy level and that was more than enough. There are spicier levels so do you! The only reason why I did not rate five stars was that it took almost an hour for our food to be ready. Very busy for a Monday night! Regardless I highly recommend!!

This place was so good that my bf & I had to come back! And we love a spot that has vegetarian options with fake (mock) chicken/duck and tofu, veggies. First time I got the yellow curry at a level 5 (out of 5) spice with mock duck. And it was phenomenal! Very flavorful stuff!! For people who like spice but don't have a high tolerance, please do a 3. Everyone else, 1-2. Also got drunken noodles. Also bomb! The next time I tried the pineapple fried rice with mock duck and pro tip! Get the side of curry sauce (any flavor; I did yellow) and pour it over. It's so bomb! If I had to do it again, I would ask to add potatoes and bell peppers to the fried rice and then get two sides of curry sauce. BF had the firecracker chicken and it's good but we both agree that the curries here are the way to go with any protein preference. Ended with mango sticky rice that I wish did have more cream over it but that's just cuz I'm a saucy gal. Still delicious and very filling. Good portion size. This isn't a formal restaurant. More of a grab-n-go spot. There is very limited seating outside if you are trying to dine right outside (5 tables) and no indoor seating. It's fairy quick to get your food. You walk in, order, and wait for them to call your name.

Bahn Thai Yelp search results showed Bahn Thai as the most reviewed thai restaurant in San Diego, so I had to find out... From their Yelp page, I already knew what to kind of expect: No indoor seating, No ceramic plates, No Silverware...all of which are almost dead breakers for Me so I ordered everything willing to try dining in the outdoor patio. While waiting, the flies outside was too disturbing and turned me off, so I immediately instructed the staffer to change my order TOGO, my potential dining vibe and ambiance were affected :( Service from the cashier and attitude from the cooking staff was cordial, helpful and nice. They understood my preference to eat with silverware, proper plates and no flies bothering me. They packaged the food order meticulously. I am aware their Hillcrest location which will have full service with all the dining accoutrements I prefer will open early 2026. When I got home, I plated every dish and enjoyed it All. The pad thai was delish. The curry had perfect viscosity: not too heavy thick and not too watery runny. The veggie egg rolls were scrumptious. I agree with many Yelpers, the food here at Bahn Thai is among the best and I look forward to visiting and dining when the Hillcrest location opens. Recommend.

Oh my is Bahn Thai delicious! I ordered Pad See Ew with mock duck. I was so excited to see mock duck as a protein option. It was all perfect especially the noodles, though I wish I had eaten a little less because I also ordered the mango sticky rice and it was up there in tasty things I've eaten recently. I had to give up 1/3 of the way through but I'm confident it's going to make an amazing breakfast. (I'm on vacation--there are no rules).

Delicious! We ordered takeout, but the employees were kind and our food was ready by the time we arrived. Great serving sizes and amazing flavors.

Bahn Thai was highly recommended to me by San Diego locals, and I can understand why it's so beloved after trying it. It's not really a sit-down type of restaurant since it's a small establishment with very limited outdoor seating. Additionally, it was difficult to find street parking, especially since I went on a weekend. FOOD: Chicken Satay (4.5/5) - The skewers were very flavorful and nicely charred. The meat wasn't dry, and the peanut sauce it came with was a nice addition. Pad See Ew (3.5/5) - Definitely not the best pad see ew I've ever had. The taste was sweeter than most. The flavors were still great, but I also wish the noodles were a bit more caramelized/charred. I didn't mind that they used regular broccoli, but I thought that was interesting to point out. The beef that accompanied it was tender and not tough. I had to order my food mild since my friend can't handle spice, so I really did appreciate that they provided chili oil and other flavor enhancers on the side. SERVICE: Your food is definitely cooked to order. They're very nice, attentive, and accommodating. Overall, fast and friendly. TLDR// San Diego Thai gem that lives up to its hype. I can't say it was the best Thai food I've ever had, but I would definitely be back sometime in the future when I have a craving and am willing to fight for street parking.

Pretty affordable (under $20) and quick service. We went at the perfect time because there was outside seating available. I think this is a perfect spot to eat casual Thai food since they already pack it in a Togo container as well. The pad Thai was decent. I got medium spice and it wasn't spicy at all, and I have a 5/10 max spice tolerance. Luckily I was able to get chili oil inside to add to it. My partner got the Bangkok chicken and that was very good! I think this place shines in their rice/chicken dishes over their noodle dishes. Overall, it was a good experience, and I'd go back to try their extensive menu again.

I was searching around for the best Thai in SD and stumbled upon this place. We came during dinner rush and had waitlisted prior and our table was ready when we got there. We ordered the boat noodles, pad see eww, red curry (since they didn't have green curry), and the pork belly. The pad see eww was good, it was a big portion and same with the red curry. The boat noodle was a little different/weird. The broth had a particular aftertaste that I wasn't used to. It also came in a pretty small bowl from what I expected, I wouldn't order that again. Service was decent and food came out fairly quick. I like how they have a variety of options to choose from!

Pad Thai, Panang Curry, Pad See Ew
    Mar B.

Still the best Thai in SD. No more seats inside (thought it was only ever like 2 small tables) and there are only 4 cashiers when you walk in. Few seats in the sidewalk in front. Food is great, spicy levels accurate- their THAI-ger sauce is great (buy some to go). Our only orders are: Pad Thai with chicken, pad see ew with beef and panang curry with shrimp. Nice employees. Wait time is always long for pickup orders, 40 mins all the times we order, so just order ahead of time.

    Jordyn J.

I was super stoked to finally try this spot since I know it's supposed to be really good. I am happy to say that it lived up to the expectations. Super flavorful dishes. Everything was fantastic. I ordered it via DoorDash, but would love to stop by eventually and dine in for the full experience.

I went with one of my girlfriends tonight at about 5:30 PM. We were quickly seated. I ordered a mango lemonade, which came out quite fast and was beautiful. It tasted pretty good too. I asked the server for recommendations on the menu, but she seemed startled by my question, like she was not used to giving recommendations. The two items that she did recommend didn't really sound appealing so I went with Pad See Ew with mock duck. That's one of my go to dishes at a Thai restaurant. I asked not to have any spice level added to my food, but the food came out and was just generally lacking flavor. It was very bland and even though there was a generous portion of vegetables in the dish the mock duck was super mushy. All the places I've ever been to it's sautéed crispy. Also, the the noodles were all stuck together. Like if you put noodles in water to let it boil, but you don't stir them and they just boil like that in a clump. The restaurant was very cute inside. I would be open to trying it again just because I've heard so many good things that I can't believe this is their standard experience.

With a long list of allergies, I can't order anything "as is," and yet every single meal from Sukho Thai is not only safer for me but deeply flavorful and consistently wonderful. Becky always goes above and beyond, remembering my allergies, checking every ingredient, and making sure that I'm ordering food that works for my body while still bringing all the richness and depth of Thai cuisine. Even on days when I forget to ask for something to be removed, Becky catches it immediately and keeps me safer. The level of awareness, care, and follow-through is genuinely life-saving and endlessly appreciated. Becky is warm, attentive, thoughtful, incredibly detail-oriented, and radiates a kindness that makes every experience feel welcoming and supported. Every interaction with Becky leaves me feeling cared for, respected, and genuinely valued as a customer. The food itself? Absolutely incredible. The chicken fried rice is one of my favorites -- the perfect balance of textures and flavors. Each bite brings together tender, well-seasoned chicken; fluffy rice with that subtle smoky wok aroma; crisp vegetables that still have a slight crunch; and seasoning that hits that sweet spot between savory, aromatic, and comforting. It's one of those dishes that feels simple on the surface but sings with layers of flavor the moment you start eating. The ginger and salmon stir fry is bright, fragrant, and beautifully prepared. The ginger adds just the right zing, the vegetables stay vibrant and fresh, and the salmon comes out tender, flaky, and infused with the sauce in all the best ways. The cashew stir fry is another flavorful amazing dish -- a perfect harmony of crisp vegetables, roasted cashews, savory sauce, and protein that soaks up all that flavor. Every bite is crunchy, warm, and satisfying. Their egg rolls are some of the best around: crispy on the outside, piping hot inside, filled with savory goodness, and perfectly paired with their dipping sauce. The Panang salmon always catches my eye -- beautifully cooked salmon nestled in a rich, creamy, aromatic panang curry. The sauce is silky, fragrant with coconut and spices, slightly sweet, slightly spicy, and the kind of dish you daydream about afterward. Such vivid and beautiful colors as well. My friend raves nonstop about their mixed seafood stir fries -- generous portions, fresh seafood, bold flavors, and consistently delicious. They also make excellent Thai teas, including a vegan version that is so thoughtful and so appreciated. It's creamy, refreshing, and delicious without sacrificing flavor. The service overall is always warm, attentive, and genuinely caring. It feels even better than how people describe family. The chefs clearly know what they're doing -- every dish comes out tasting like it was prepared with intention and pride. The entire team creates an experience that keeps me coming back again and again. And I love their outdoor patio -- shaded, spacious, and comfortable. It's a relaxing space that makes the meal even better. Thank you, Becky, and thanks to everyone at Sukho Thai for making every visit safe, delicious, and full of kindness. They serve a mix of Thai and Lao dishes, and the menu has a ton to choose from. We started with apps and ordered the Lao‑style beef skewers and the cream cheese wontons -- both were amazing. They offer beer, wine, and a whole lineup of sugar cane drinks. They looked delicious but a little too sweet for me, so I went for a fresh coconut instead, which felt tropical and fun. For mains, we ordered the fried chicken plate and the drunken noodles. The portions were big. The fried chicken was extra crispy and cooked perfectly -- it came with rice, a green‑curry‑style sauce, and a piece of bread. The drunken noodles were fantastic. We ordered them mild, and even then they had a little kick, which I loved. Of course, we ended with mango sticky rice, and it was lovely. I also love that you can pop in just to grab their snack bags of crispy chicken skin or one of their signature sugar cane or Thai boba drinks. Such a great spot, and I'd definitely recommend it. Parking in the strip mall is a little chaotic, so just be prepared.

We looked over the menu and saw the descriptions of mostly Thai food on the menu. Bahn Thai is the comparison since that has been our go to. My partner wanted Tom Yum soup, Drunken noodles (preferably with vegetables) and I ordered as a starter crab rangoon cigar roll and for me a fried pork belly. Here are my musings, the Tom Yum soup was good. The crab rangoon should really be better suited to the crunch of wontons (but nice try). The fried pork belly was a little pricey for the amount received since this only came with sauces and no rice. The Drunken noodles were fine but it should also have an option of vegetables to add instead of tofu, chicken or shrimp. Overall, I might try them again sometime if I am in the area. Nothing still beats my go to place. But as Yelpers go, it's always nice to try new places.
