Thankful to have a solid spot for Pho close to home. When I need comfort food, this is my go to for chicken pho. I also really enjoy the crispy egg rolls. The food always comes out hot and fast and is on point. I love the little plate that comes on the side with the bean sprouts, Thai basil, lime and mint. They give you a couple leaves of iceberg lettuce too which I'm not quite understanding why, maybe garnish? The service is efficient. Last night on December 22, after a happy day of family activities, we decided to have dinner nearby and chose Pho Kitchen, which was recommended on Xiaohongshu. When we arrived, the restaurant was not very busy. Since it was our first visit, we spent a little time looking over the menu. At that moment, a younger staff member warmly greeted us and kindly asked what temperature of water each of us preferred. As we were traveling as a family with elderly members and a child, this small gesture felt very thoughtful and welcoming. Unfortunately, the experience changed during the ordering and dining process, mainly due to the service from an older staff member. First, my mother and I ordered two bowls of the exact same pho, with only one difference: one bowl without green onions and the other prepared normally. The staff member repeatedly confirmed this order with my husband at least five times, with a very intense expression. While I understand this could be seen as being careful, it already felt a bit uncomfortable. Second, after our food was served, we waited about five minutes without receiving any utensils. We couldn't even start eating and had no choice but to use our hands at first. My husband then stood up to ask this staff member for utensils and plates. At that time, there were only three other customers in the restaurant. The response we received was that we should "keep waiting" and that someone else would bring them. We waited again. When the utensils finally arrived, there were only four sets, even though we were dining with a child. My husband had to stand up once more to ask for children's utensils and chopsticks. This time, the older staff member responded very impatiently, telling my husband to wait because he needed to finish refilling the straw container first before helping us. After receiving the children's utensils, I noticed that the back of one spoon was dirty and asked for a replacement. Again, we were met with an impatient attitude and facial expression. By this point, it was clear that my husband was very dissatisfied with the service. I want to add an important note here: we have lived in the U.S. for over 20 years, and my husband speaks fluent English and has more than 10 years of experience working in restaurants. He is extremely patient and has never felt the need to leave a negative review anywhere before. However, this time we genuinely felt we were treated differently. The contrast between this staff member's attitude toward us and toward white customers in the restaurant was very noticeable. This is the first time in 20 years of living in the U.S. that we have ever left an online review for a restaurant, and unfortunately, it is a negative one -- only regarding the service. That said, I do want to be fair: the food itself was very good. The ingredients were fresh, and the pho tasted great. We truly hope the service can improve to match the quality of the food. My son and I were looking for somewhere to have a quiet birthday dinner. Pho is one of my son's favorite meals. I had bookmarked this spot a while back and decided to try it out. My son and I were seated quickly and brought menus. There were two men in the front waiting on tables, an older man maybe in his 60's and a younger, maybe in his 40's. The man in his 40's sneezed into his hands and then came to take our order, did not wash his hands or even use sanitizer, honestly we should have left then. I ordered a half order of egg rolls. My son and I both ordered our pho. I ordered mine with brisket, flank, and steak. My son didn't want meat so he ordered just noodles. The egg rolls were brought out quickly and they were very hot. I started to eat them and the man in his 40's kept staring at me. I'd brushed it off, but he didn't stop. Our Pho was delivered shortly after. My son and I both started eating and the same man came back to the table. He looked at my son and said "you need to eat meat and build muscles, your mom doesn't need to eat meat". I was taken aback by what he'd said. He then walked away. I texted a few people to ask if there was anyway that was not meant rudely. I am plus size, I know that. I don't need people telling me if I should have meat or not. It was agreed that there was no way he was being nice. I was not in the mood to eat and wanted to leave. My son went and asked for a bowl to take my food home. A few minutes later than man brought the check. I told him, his comment was quite rude and he literally laughed at me and walked away with my card. I have never been so embarrassed and treated so rudely in a restaurant. This was a last minute spot that we decided to go to and it was better than I expected. I got the rice plate with thit nuong (#R1). Service was fine and food came out pretty quick. Pho Kitchen has my favorite pho ever. I come here (or the Mira Mesa location) at least once a month for my pho fix. It's a good place to come with a group as there's plenty of tables. It's also a great place to come alone, which I do many of the times that I come. The workers are very nice and respectful. Anytime that I come here, I typically get seated right away. They bring out water which is infused with cucumber and possibly mint. It's so healing. The food comes out pretty fast after you order, usually within 5-10 minutes. The pho broth is so clean, light, and savory. It cures a hangover or a sickness almost instantly. I've been to a lot of other pho places where the broth is super oily. Not here! I get the P3 (custom pho) with flank or brisket. You can order a regular or large size. The regular is enough to fill me up. I don't even add hoisin or sriracha to the broth because it's so tasty on its own. I do get a side of chili oil though, and put a little in each spoonful that I eat for a little kick. Their chili oil is the perfect complement. If you need more than just the pho, their egg rolls are so darn delicious. It comes with all the fixings - lettuce, mint, fish sauce dip. You can get a full order (6) or half order (3). If I'm alone, I get the half order and can usually only eat one, then have the rest later as a snack. When you're done eating, I recommend going up to the register to pay. Otherwise you might be waiting a while for the check. read more

We came here with friends for a trip and they always want these tourist trap places to eat but I couldn't remember which pho restaurant I went to in 2023. I had a feeling I chose right again and once I entered the restaurant I knew I found the same place. The restaurant is located in a nice little area with plenty of parking but be prepared to walk just a little bit. The inside was nice and modern looking and most of all clean. Not much else you really need for ambiance. The staff is very nice and attentive. It feels like a family run business as last time I came we saw a man directing the younger staff like he was their uncle or something. They kept making sure our waters were topped off, great service. The food was great it was an oasis ina town trapped with over priced tourist trap restaurants. I ordered Pho and my wife ordered this time chicken curry. We also ordered spring rolls. Pho - it was great I loved it the broth was flavorful and the meat was nice and tender, not tough at all. If the pho broth wasn't tasty I usually default to putting hoisin and Sriracha in the broth like I used to as a child. No need for any of that the broth was quite delicious. Fried egg rolls - were delicious. I am not sure about the time I went in 2023 but this time they gave use lettuce and mint to wrap the egg rolls I assume? This was a new experience for me in a pho restaurant as I usually have lettuce wraps at home or at a family gathering with the works so it was quite nice and refreshing. 10/1] would recommend lettuce wraps with fresh herbs (usually mint) Chicken curry - my wife was in the mood for the chicken curry. Chicken curry at a viet amese restaurant is few and far between but its nice. This was my wife's first time trying vietnamese curry and she loved it. I tasted it and I would say that compared to what I had growing up woth my grandma's cooking it was a little bit more turmeric and water vs my grandma who used alot a coconut milk or cream. Overall taste was quite delicious and they serve it with rice on the side and a separate dish containing the chicken curry. The place looks like an authentic restaurant, and you can smell good food as you walk inside. The interior decor is maintained well. This is in an area or plaza with a lot of restaurants, mostly quick grab. Parking can be challenging during peak hours. I ordered Rice with chicken and shrimp. It was delicious and filing. ordered one bowl of pho on Sunday, 12/07, by phone. I came in, paid, and picked up my order, only to discover when I got home that I had been given the wrong item. I then had to drive back to the restaurant just to receive what I originally ordered. What was even more disappointing was the staff's attitude. No one offered an apology for the inconvenience. The busboy was noticeably rude and handed me the corrected order as if the mistake were my fault. I felt I had to double-check everything myself, and the way the staff looked at me was dismissive and uncomfortable. When I asked for chili oil, it was tossed into my bag in a disrespectful manner. This entire experience left me feeling disrespected, unvalued as a customer, and extremely dissatisfied. We went for an meal and the guy who greeted us was very rude. It seemed like he did not want to be there. We kindly brushed it under the rug and figured that he might be having a challenging day. Upon ordering our food, he seemed a little disturbed when my friend ordered her a specific meal with dietary needs. The guy made a face and went back with a disgusted look on his face. After several minutes of waiting, they brought out our order, which was not the correct order. We kindly mentioned it and he got upset. The food did not taste fresh as it seemed that it may have been there for days just waiting to be cooked. The noodles were way over cooked and the broth was not as good as we have had there in the past. Upon us leaving, we paid and left an smaller than average tip due to the lack of service and food quality. The guy must have looked at the tip before anything else since as soon as he picked up the bill, since he made a "snuf" noise and as we looked back since we noticed his noises and stuck his nose up in the air and walked away in disgrace. My friend wanted to go back and say something, but instead we decided to leave a comment. We have been here before and have recently heard from other that the service had gone down hill and so has the quality of the food. The broth wasn't super flavorful and there was way too much noodles that they became soggy. The meat was also not super tender either. Everything was just mid. The restaurant is kind of tiny so there were probably 10-15 tables max. The service was also ok. I'm Vietnamese so I know that we aren't going to go over the top with service. You go in, you eat to fill your stomach and go. I think I've been spoiled by other pho places so I'm probably not going to come here again. I came here over the weekend because it had god reviews and it was a chilly night; perfect time for pho! This experience was probably the worst customer service experience I've had in a very long time! My server comes to the table, didn't smile, didn't greet us with a hi/how are you, what can I get you....nothing. My fiancée and I instead greet him because he had already made it awkward by just walking to us just staring. We say hi how are you? He responds "Order" and waves his hand over the table (as in are you going to order now or what?). We were baffled. I had to laugh to keep from getting angry. I'm not one for confrontation so I laughed and stared at him like did you really just do that?? And decide maybe he's just having an off day. Or is very direct. Or doesn't speak much English. Who knows. Give him the benefit of the doubt though. He walks away, then returns with cold waters (because he hadnt asked us about drinks we didn't think to ask for our usual hot water with lemon yet). We ask him for hot drinks and he stops, gets an attitude and says "when you tell me what you want you need to order everything at once because we're really because and I can't keep coming back and forth over here." Like SIR?! What??? YALL. That should have been my cue to leave. The rest of the experience doesn't even matter. My man's was rude af and knew it. Who says that to customers? I know y'all want to know how the food was. The food was fine. Like not great, not bad. The broth itself was good, the contents were soso. The spring rolls were mostly lettuce and the wrapping had an interesting gritty texture to it. So. Meh. I can see it being so busy because of its location but you don't treat folks like that. Awesome place! We got there early and they let us in so we didn't have to wait - truly great service! Really nice ambiance - the place is really clean. I got the meat and rice plate - super savory and yummy flavors. A little fatty, but I was on vacation so I didn't mind too much. The shrimp/beef vermicelli noodle bowl was good and flavorful too, but the noodles were all broken up into really short pieces, which usually means that the noodles aren't fresh/had been refrigerated.
