Not a bad place to hang. Was leaving Coronado to go back to San Diego and it was rush hour on the bridge. Walking back to the car and saw this place. It's got a nice vibe and the bartender was nice and served me right away. The variety of beers on tap were the usual, not any true craft beers but still plenty to choose from. Didn't try any food. Good place to also recognize the servicemen who have hung here over all these years. Check it out.

For everyone who loves America's servicemen and women, our beloved veterans, skip to the end of this review, help me share the love with them. From you! McP's Irish Pub is located on a bustling street surrounded by cute shops and restaurants with a nice view from every angle. On the weekends, you and your family can enjoy free live music on the patio. The house bands are top notch and probably playing one of your favorite songs. McP's serves large portions of tasty Irish classics and hearty American diner favorites. My friends in the Navy have loved this place since I was a kid. Imagine getting dropped off in the middle of the ocean by helicopter and swimming back to a pain filled day of training on cold ice blocks to better serve the safety of people who need help... Buttery Sheperd's Pie and juicy steak-quality cheeseburgers really hot the spot after doing the hardest workouts on planet earth!:) I am super grateful to this McP's for taking such good care of our American heroes and their families here over the years. Check out a museum-quality framed American flag and it's beautiful history inside the restaurant! I recently came here immediately after participating in the moving forward 5k race alongside THOUSANDS of people in San Diego who raised over two hundred thousand dollars to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project. ***Fireworks*** This is a great place to refuel after a solid workout. I saw a few marathon runners enjoying the food, music and good vibes here which made me smile. Many years ago, I was battling life threatening health problems and my friends in the Navy here in San Diego helped train me for a big health recovery. In recent years I was battling life threatening health problems again, my participation in a race to benefit charity is nothing short of a miracle. And carrying an eight foot VERY HEAVY! American flag while walking the Carry Forward race in SD means a lot to me. Here's where I came to refuel and celebrate immediately after crossing the victorious finish line. I am very grateful to my friends in San Diego and the Yelp community for helping me with my health recovery in SO many ways. I need to give a hug to all the wonderful staff who work here for making special accommodations for my foster pup. Giving a big order of complimentary bacon to a crying dog who has PTSD.. is REALLY special!:) I took a few nice pictures of American flags flying at and around this restaurant when I arrived. In recent years, I have taken over five thousand pictures of American flags in my community from people who love and support American soldiers and veterans. Each picture represents ordinary people who offer their support and gratitude to our heroes. Included in this photo book are THOUSANDS of military tributes, perks, discounts offered to active duty military personnel and veterans, which represents millions of people who love and care about our heroes with ALL THEIR HEARTS.:) Along with a little help from my friends, I am compiling the best pics into an American flag collage so I can gift a poster sized postcard from all of us to VA centers. Lke a big hug from our community to show how much we care about you! I'll be dedicating my profiles on maps, meta, YouTube, and beyond to spreading the love we have for our heroes and each other. Thanks so much for helping me with this mission. And for being you! Fries are crispy and tasty. Burgers are big enough to share and made with high quality beef. Sandwiches are generously piled high with protein. Everything is good here. Especially the people. Above and beyond. Five thousand stars! *******************************

Great Irish pub. Good food, good atmosphere, great times with friends. Old, young, family, good for everyone

I've been here a few times but it's first time that I had food. I was disappointed. We ordered a shepherds pie to share. They were nice enough to split it into two but with extra charges that we were not aware of. The flavor was good but it's very salty. We also ordered a grilled cheese sandwich but my son only ate a quarter of it because it was dry. I was very disappointed when they brought out a bowl of boxed mac n cheese! That's a huge disappointment to me. We also ordered fries with Guinness gravy off the happy hour menu. The price was great and the fries were good, however the gravy wasn't anything special and it's very salty as well. That said, this is prob a place for drinks but not food. The bar area is unique and that's prob the only thing that seems appealing for me. There are other better bars to check out in the area.

Just stopped in for a quick beer before the trolley came back around. The BT was friendly and my beer was ice cold. Wasn't in there long, just enough time to finish the beer. The atmosphere was nice and the service was solid, definitely worth a stop in especially if you're on a trolley tour.

Took the boys here after a swim meet and it was really cool. The hostess and waitress were friendly and efficient and there were TV's so we could watch the football game. Food was great and portions were huge so we had a lot to take home. It's adorable and we sat outside on the patio - not sure if they have an inside, but it was a beautiful day. Everyone around us was having a great time and just enjoying their Sunday. Glad we stopped in.

Dropped in for a pint on the way to meet friends for dinner. Pictured are the Irish fries with Guinness gravy, which are outstanding. Forget the fries and grab a spoon for the gravy. Excellent and quick service from Drew in a small Irish pub environment. There is outside seating where dogs, children and sometimes adults on good behavior are welcome. As one might expect here, Coronado Brewing is featured here, but other brews and a full bar are available.

Kids chicken tenders and fries with ranch

This place is great. The outdoor seating is perfect and they have heaters for "colder days". Staff is very attentive and friendly. Their chicken tenders do not have the best reviews so I decided to try them for myself, I think they were good however the menu is so large there are other good options too. This is a great location for a quick bite or drinks and live music with friends. I will be coming back.

Came here with our dog (very dog friendly) and sat outside. Started with the nachos which were ok. Cheese tasted packaged. My reuben was good. Avocado toast was underwhelming. Service was a little slow, but they were busy. It's a really nice location in Coronado.

Staff were friendly. Food & drinks were ok. Chicken nachos were shareable & it was good. Stopped in for a snack as the trolley stop was right in front of this restaurant & it was a perfect size. There's indoor and outdoor seating.

Bigger than I expected. There's a small inside with a few high top seats, low tables and bar seating. And outside on the patio there's seating for what seems like 80 people. Tables spread all around and TVs in several spaces. There are also heaters to keep you warm. Came here for a drink and the menu felt a little limited with a handful of cocktails available and small draft menu. The food menu was pretty expansive. It's typical bar food. Nothing really stood out. But you'll have a lot of options if you are hungry or peckish. We came on Day of Mourning / Thanksgiving and it was still pretty packed. It was around 7pm. They must've been down on servers because service was pretty slow. The patio is much more livelier than inside and the fresh air is better than whatever was going on inside (it smelt a bit musty inside). Other than the diviness of the place and the few beer mixture that they had, it's hard to see how it resembled an Irish pub.

For a bar, that's not always a given, and as someone who doesn't drink as much these days, that immediately stood out to me. I grabbed a lavender leprechaun and it was super refreshing, light, and just a really nice change of pace from the usual soda-or-water options. It didn't feel like an afterthought, it actually felt intentional. For food, I went with the corned beef sandwich and it did not disappoint. Hearty, flavorful, and exactly what you'd want from a proper Irish pub. The whole place has that classic pub vibe but still feels welcoming whether you're drinking or not. That balance is rare, and I really appreciated it. Definitely a spot I'd come back to, especially knowing I've got solid non-alcoholic options to enjoy.

Despite the crowds, service was impressively fast. We grabbed seats at the bar and were taken care of right away, which was a pleasant surprise given how busy it was. Food-wise, the fish and chips were good, but not amazing--solid, but nothing to rave about. The sausage rolls, unfortunately, were a bit underwhelming for me. I was hoping for a crispier, flakier pastry, but they fell a little short in texture. One thing I really miss is the live music they used to have before Covid. It added so much to the atmosphere, and I'd love to see them bring that back. Outside of big events like St. Patrick's Day, the place can feel a bit quiet, so the music would definitely elevate the overall vibe. Overall, still a great spot for a pint and good service--especially impressive during peak crowds--but there's definitely room to bring back some of that old charm.

The food is good I guess. The wagyu taco had a nice flavor and the greens with the sauce made it work. I don't think it's actually wagyu, but the word is pretty much meaningless at this point. For the crust, I found it to be way too chewy rather than light and flaky. I couldn't even cut it with my spoon anymore and had to pick up a long thing of crust and pull it apart with my teeth. I will allow that the gravy and other contents are bland and generic since if it had as much flavor as I actually want, other customers will be complaining about it. But the crust I cannot forgive. Overall it was not bad though. Surprisingly, my favorite item was the brussels sprouts. Even with all the seasoning and cheese, I found the flavor to be well balanced. Even after most of the plate, I noticed I didn't find it too salty. I really like the menus in the crappy brown folders. I think they might've also done it because it's easy and cheap, but it works well with the aesthetic they have.

The largest grossest bugger hanging out of his nose, he had sweat marks so large there was no need to lift his arms to see them. He proceeded then to do shots at the bar with costumers. Which again... I totally can appreciate having a good time in a good neighborhood pub. The floors were so dirty around the booths. The menus dirty. Just over all couldn't stay and eat here. Did get some good laughs watching a few very inebriated customers, had some good drinks and went on our way.
