Sitting in front of a fire, sipping a beverage, and enjoying good conversation under the stars is wonderful. Knowing that half the country is under a foot of snow makes it delightful. We came here on a whim and were left with a wonderful experience. We had the Sheppard Pie and the bread bowl, both of which were solid. Not a bad place to hang. Was leaving Coronado to go back to San Diego and it was rush hour on the bridge. Walking back to the car and saw this place. It's got a nice vibe and the bartender was nice and served me right away. The variety of beers on tap were the usual, not any true craft beers but still plenty to choose from. Didn't try any food. My husband and I spent our Veteran's Day off this year, celebrating our pup's 15th birthday! She loves going to the beach, so we decided to make a Coronado day out of it. Before heading to the dog beach, we wanted to grab a bite to eat. At the recommendation of my bestie, we went to McP's Irish Pub since it's dog friendly. I immediately fell in love with the large patio. Real estate is hard to come by on Coronado Island, but this patio is big, inviting, and perfect. It overlooks the main street sidewalk, so people watching is fun, and it's the perfect place to eat with your pup because there is plenty of space to spread apart from other dogs. I also noticed that there was a large 12+ person firepit table, so I'm definitely keeping that in the back of my mind for a future outdoor friend's gathering. I also really liked the food. I went with a French Dip, my husband the BBQ chicken salad, and we split the Elote Dip. I'm not sure what the star of the show was because it was all so delicious. The Elote Dip was so flavorful, and I could have honestly just ordered that for lunch! My French Dip was also perfectly cooked and the half I saved, heated up well in the air fryer the next day as well. My husband's salad was huge, and he only ate about 2/3 of it. We also got the pups a beef patty to share, it was a birthday celebration after all! Our server was kind enough to pre-split the patty for us, and honestly, I think it was probably two patties because there was so much meat. I've been here a few times but it's first time that I had food. I was disappointed. We ordered a shepherds pie to share. They were nice enough to split it into two but with extra charges that we were not aware of. The flavor was good but it's very salty. We also ordered a grilled cheese sandwich but my son only ate a quarter of it because it was dry. I was very disappointed when they brought out a bowl of boxed mac n cheese! That's a huge disappointment to me. We also ordered fries with Guinness gravy off the happy hour menu. The price was great and the fries were good, however the gravy wasn't anything special and it's very salty as well. That said, this is prob a place for drinks but not food. The bar area is unique and that's prob the only thing that seems appealing for me. There are other better bars to check out in the area. read more

Just stopped in for a quick beer before the trolley came back around. The BT was friendly and my beer was ice cold. Wasn't in there long, just enough time to finish the beer. The atmosphere was nice and the service was solid, definitely worth a stop in especially if you're on a trolley tour. read more

Bigger than I expected. There's a small inside with a few high top seats, low tables and bar seating. And outside on the patio there's seating for what seems like 80 people. Tables spread all around and TVs in several spaces. There are also heaters to keep you warm. Came here for a drink and the menu felt a little limited with a handful of cocktails available and small draft menu. The food menu was pretty expansive. It's typical bar food. Nothing really stood out. But you'll have a lot of options if you are hungry or peckish. We came on Day of Mourning / Thanksgiving and it was still pretty packed. It was around 7pm. They must've been down on servers because service was pretty slow. The patio is much more livelier than inside and the fresh air is better than whatever was going on inside (it smelt a bit musty inside). Other than the diviness of the place and the few beer mixture that they had, it's hard to see how it resembled an Irish pub. read more

I normally don't leave negative reviews, but my experience here was extremely uncomfortable. The owner made multiple comments and behaved in a way that came across as racist and dismissive toward certain customers. You could literally feel the tension in the room, and several people around us looked uncomfortable as well. An Irish pub should feel welcoming and fun, but the atmosphere quickly turned awkward and hostile because of the owner's behavior. Regardless of background, everyone deserves to be treated with respect when spending their money at a business. Unfortunately, that was not the experience here, and I won't be returning. read more

I've been to this place on two separate occasions over the course of 3 years or so and it was pretty good. I had the hot corned beef with fries each time. I would say it's a bit more on the expensive side for the amount of meat you get in the sandwich comparison to other places I've been to in Ohio. However, it was still good nevertheless. A comfortable restaurant and bar with decent food, on the scurvy island of Coronado. The bartenders and wait staff are courteous and friendly. My brother got into a fight there early in his US Navy career, but that didn't stop him from going back a few years later. Hanging out with him and some other officers during a surface warfare conference was how I was introduced to McP's. Now I usually go to McP's after dental appointments. My dentist is just a few blocks away. She usually tells me not to eat solid food for a while, so I have beverages at McP's. Go there and make friends with anyone you meet there.
