This place at first glance does not seem like much, but you have to go down the stairs in order to appreciate the ambience and the vibe. The food is so good. Very dog friendly. And they serve your water in these adorable little jam jars. We bought one it was so cute. The service was amazing. Our waitress took such great care of us. It's not on the menu, but they do have sweet potato fries! Thank you...

We spontaneously went to Coronado with a large group and no reservations. We ended up here because the place was relatively empty. They had good drink options and a menu that everyone could find something. I got the salmon and thought it was good but very plain and therefore expensive for what you got. We split the Brussels which were good, and others enjoyed the pot pie, gem salad, steak tacos, fish tacos and more. Overall everyone liked their food but none of the dishes blew us away.

It does feel more like a dive bar than a sports bar to me. And yeah, it's partly because it's below the street, more like a basement, more introverted, and good if you want to be on Orange Ave., but don't want to "feel" like you're on Orange Ave. I only ordered an IPA, so I can't comment on the drinks. The food is good I guess. The wagyu taco had a nice flavor and the greens with the sauce made it work. I don't think it's actually wagyu, but the word is pretty much meaningless at this point. For the crust, I found it to be way too chewy rather than light and flaky. I couldn't even cut it with my spoon anymore and had to pick up a long thing of crust and pull it apart with my teeth. I will allow that the gravy and other contents are bland and generic since if it had as much flavor as I actually want, other customers will be complaining about it. But the crust I cannot forgive. Overall it was not bad though. Surprisingly, my favorite item was the brussels sprouts. Even with all the seasoning and cheese, I found the flavor to be well balanced. Even after most of the plate, I noticed I didn't find it too salty. I really like the menus in the crappy brown folders. I think they might've also done it because it's easy and cheap, but it works well with the aesthetic they have.

Had some great happy hour bites at the Tavern. The $7 Cabernet Sauvignon was delicious. Loved the floral center piece at the table and the beautiful distressed wood table itself. Service was friendly, and the food came out promptly. The waygu steak taco was my favorite, it had a great flavor and was very tender. I definitely recommend the Brussels sprouts, lots of Parmesan and thick balsamic glaze. I'll definitely be back!

The drinks were really good. It's in a nice location and the ambiance is beautiful. It's a nice place to grab drinks and a little lunch. The portions are smaller but the sandwich was good. The salad was basic but I would go back. The service was nice and the waitress was really friendly.

We came for pre-game cocktails and had a great experience! Super cool looking place, it's got a fun vibe and service was great. We had a few cocktails from their specials menu and they were creative and delicious. While we didn't eat here, the food going to tables and bar looked very good, and almost made us blow off reservations elsewhere. But, that's bad form, so we'll just have to go back again sometime.

The ambiance and service are amazing here! We always come back here when I need a treat :) I wouldn't give the food a perfect rating just because I feel like the vegetable consistently are not as cooked as I'd like them to be. But I will always return here for their salmon, chicken jidori, pot pie, or the fish and chips! Our fav drinks are the raspberry rosemary drink, the strawberry basil, or aloe cucumber!!!

Came here to watch football and eat dinner. Cool location "underground" in downtown coronado. Drinks were good. I liked my steak tacos. Dad liked his burger. Both were good, not great. Nice dark moody bar theme, but only 2 TVs behind the bar.

Great spot located on the main street, but set on a lower level to create a lovely and intimate setting. Outdoor seating is available, but the interior truly is warm and inviting with lots of wood, stone, low lighting and subtle floral accents. Our bartender/server Hannah was great. Friendly, attentive, quick and helpful. My husband had the sliders, which he enjoyed. I ordered the Crispy Brussel Sprouts, which were flash fried and too burnt for me. I couldn't find any green in the dish. All the sprouts looked and tasted overdone. Thankfully, the dish was removed from our bill and I was given a chance to order something else. I chose the Tomato Soup Gratinée, which was INCREDIBLE. It came out in a small bowl, but the serving was perfect. The soup was rich and satisfying with lots of mozarella. All in all, a spot worth visiting.

This place had a cool vibe and a huge variety of drinks. The food was good. I ordered the chicken parm sando with Caesar salad. I also had a whiskey sour, which was really good. My friends had fish & chips (huge portion), the chicken pot pie (pretty presentation is a special white bowl), salmon (didn't come with as much veggies as I would've hoped). My only gripe about the spot was how cold it was when we were seated (lol). It was sprinkling outside.

    Happy hour menu.

I'll review our dinner and then post the brunch review in a few days! First, the view is gorgeous. The Marriott Coronado has a gorgeous piece of real estate, facing the bay, the Coronado Bridge, and downtown San Diego. Dinner, Valentine's Day: VDay could be a big disaster but it went pretty smoothly. They had a 3-course prix fixe menu (plus an amuse & a glass of sparkling wine) as a special, or you could do their bar menu. Oscar was our server and he did a great job keeping us updated about how the kitchen was doing. Our drinks came pretty fast. I got a DAITIKI: cutwater tiki rum, lime juice, simple syrup & angostura bitters. I asked for it light on the simple - and it was a pretty impressive cocktail. Really well balanced, with a lot of different flavors going on. Yes & yes on this! Appetizers: I got their brussel sprouts with lime and honey glaze and marcona almonds. WOW! This was a wow dish. HUGE and fabulous brussel dish, for $16, with this view. Now I'm getting excited! We also got the guacamole which was good, though underseasoned. Entrees: my sweetie got one of the bowls (baja?) with carne asada added and liked it. I got a veggie burger - not yummy! Very weird patty, not tasty. However, the fries that came with it were good. SO... I had a great cocktail, a giant portion of exceptional brussel sprouts, and a bad veggie burger. Could be worse! Wine: I also got a glass of the JLohr Pure Paso red blend, which was very nice. Leathery but not too heavy. For dessert, Oscar advised us that we could order individual dishes from the prix fixe, and that dessert would be much faster if we ordered the Valentine's desserts instead of the desserts they usually serve. And yes, they came out immediately. Deconstructed strawberry shortcake. Flavors were good. Shortbread was a little dry, but very nicely seasoned. I liked the consistently of the chocolate mousse tulip, but found the tulip part (chocolate shell) very bland, not that interesting to eat too. Overall, some parts of our dinner were exceptional, the kitchen can be slow... and don't order the veggie patty! Otherwise this is a great place to come and enjoy our gorgeous city and have some yummy bites or drinks, and with very nice heaters. Thanks, Oscar and the team!
