This place is so cute! It's so perfect to have a nice leisure breakfast with the nice people watching walking by have nice conversations with some morning cute mimosas. It was very comfortable! So much so that we talked for a couple of hours while enjoying our food. The staff was very attentive and refilling out coffee and waters which was nice. I had the Crown Cafe Breakfast which had scrambled eggs, French toast, and sausage. Everything was so delicious and just a perfect size. The eggs were really fluffy and the sausage was very tasty. Pretty cute little brunch cafe with ample outdoor seating along Orange ave. Coffee was good, but I don't believe I ever got a refill. Although, I don't drink my coffee that fast anyways, so the one full cup of coffee plus water was enough for me. Additionally, the waitress asked if I wanted either hot sauce or ketchup. I said ketchup, but I think she forgot about it. I was too antisocial and apathetic to even ask her again and just ate my food. Lol. I like the jars for the water. I got a Napolitano Joe's scramble. The eggs were soft and fluffy. There was a ton of spinach, which I am content with. However, there was not much garlic while I prefer a bit more. I also found the flavor of the sausage to be somewhat underwhelming. Hash browns were.....fine? Like, generically decent. We absolutely love this place! The food is always fresh and delicious, service is super friendly, they always have specials and to top it off they have giant mimosas! We come here at least once a month for brunch. We love the outside seating and ambiance and they do a pretty good job of getting people in and seated. Given the location and the ratings I saw I was expecting a lot better from this restaurant. However we didn't have a great experience and the food was not as good as I thought it would be. We were seated outside as the majority of seating is outside. And while the weater the pleasant the flies certainly were not. I don't usually like to eat outside because I don't enjoy flies buzzing around while I am eating. While that is not the fault of the restaurant they didn't ask if we wanted to be seated inside or outside. So we were kind of stuck. The food is not very kid friendly and is aimed more at adults. The kid at our table ordered a Belgian waffle but it was way too big and he didn't end up finishing it. I ordered eggs Benedict and while the eggs were cooked perfectly the hollandaise sauce was so bland. The hash browns that came with were bland too and had zero flavor. My boyfriend ordered basic steak and eggs and he also wasn't impressed with lack of flavor in his food. Coronado has so many fun places to eat. I would say overall the meal was good but nothing to write home about. The server was quick but not particularly friendly. I ordered the Denver omelette which is pretty standard from place to place. Not oily which I appreciated. It was a $1 up charge for egg whites which isn't bad compared to other Cali restaurants which charge 2-4 bucks which is crazy. Hash browns were decent, again not oily which I like. I upgraded my side to a single pancake. It was a large portion so that was appreciated but it was visibly burnt when she brought it. I didn't make a stink bc a. I didn't have time to wait for another and b. I knew I wouldn't finish it so I kinda ate around the char but the server should know better than to bring that out. That being said, it was good texture and decent flavor but again nothing to write home about. I did enjoy the homemade jam. We spent the night at this hotel and wanted to try the restaurant. It is a charming little place that is currently has dinner service Thursday through Saturday. Theresa and Jorge were our fine dining servers and they were professional and friendly. They started this off with their freshly baked ciabatta bread. We told them to please only bring two pieces. They did and they are very large pieces. We split one and took the other home to enjoy later as it was excellent. It was slightly crispy on the outside and soft and warm on the inside. Next, we had a chicken vegetable soup and French onion soup. We enjoyed both. I ordered the scallops special with risotto and vegetables. Though I would have liked the scallops cooked 30 seconds longer, they were good and melted in your mouth. Don ordered Osso buco with pasta and vegetables. It was excellent and the lamb was tender. It seemed like a lot of locals come here and we can see why. This will be our "go to" place for dinner. read more

So we've seen this restaurant and the ambience of it is absolutely lovely. However.. I ordered the fettuccine and it was the most saltiest dish I've ever tasted in my whole life and I had only one bite. Had I ate the whole thing which was ridiculously disgusting I would've had a heart attack the same night. My boyfriend had the gnucci with crab and his pasta was so overcooked and hard, you could throw it through a car window and it might break. I tried one of his and I almost threw up. Told the owner about it and she walked away and never came back. It didn't matter because I no longer wanted to eat there and we just walked away. They have good lemons and water and that's all. First of all I never do this. Second I used to be stationed here in Coronado and wound up moving to Maine after I separated... this was our favorite spot back when I was stationed here so I had to come back when I was visiting. Coming from Maine I ordered the Crab Benedict, and it was quite literally the best I've had in my life. Makes me not want to go back to Maine where seafood is supposedly primo. Edgar was the waiter and he remembered me from years ago and was just the same and wildly pleasant as usual. I cannot wait to come back before I leave town. This place is a must! read more

Found this place on a whim as we woke up wanting to eat some place we've never been. This is located on a busy road but surprisingly the venue wasn't that busy. We arrived around 11 and had a 30 min wait to be seated. We didn't go deep inside but there seems to be three locations to sit, immediately outside by the sidewalk, in a shaded area between the outdoor seating and indoor seating, and then inside. Sidewalk seating had 3 tables, shaded area had 6, and unsure how many are indoors. I say this because as we waited there wasn't ANY shade to wait and there were only 2 umbrella shades for 3 tables and that could be (& was as we waited) really unbearable in this San Diego sun / heat. Once we sat down, our waitress took our order almost immediately and was nice and patient. We ordered what you see in the pics and I will say - the French toast is FILLING! Corned beef hash tasted a bit off to me...like, grainy almost, and we both didn't get our eggs cooked to how we asked but no biggie. Overall - I'd try it again because their lunch menu looked really good but overheard they only serve their lunch menu Mon-Fri. Nice way to start the morning! read more

This bistro is very small and not very good for large groups. It is colocated with the Crown City Inn, and they have a very small dining room with a few tables, an enclosed patio with a few more tables and seating on the front lawn. We had a group of 8 and we had to wait 15 minutes to be seated and we were not all seated together. They split our group between 2 tables. They serve brunch throughout the weekdays and just breakfast on weekends during their morning hours. They serve dinner durning the later hours and has live music on select nights. They do not have a private lot and you have to find a free parking spot on the street somewhere. We were able to snag a spot across the street. They have typical brunch food here like pancakes, french toast, steak, salmon, ribs, burgers, omelettes and wraps. I got the Very Berry Mascarpone French Toast with a side of bacon. It took about 10 minutes for them to bring my food out. It looked amazing and tasted even better. I did not even need syrup on my french toast. Now thats good french toast. You get 4 slices of bacon with an order and it was good too. Everyone in my group were raving about their meals. I highly recommend venturing over to this place and checking them out. I suggest making a reservation though, because seating is very limited. They have awesome food, friendly staff and great service. read more

I always love a place with ambiance. Service was amazing. Servers were knowledgeable, attentive and kind, another quality I look when dining out. Food, was good. Let's start with my salmon, it was fine but I definitely had better in other places. Others ordered osso buco, pork chop and Wiener schnitzel. They sure liked they dishes. For dessert we had the chocolate cake, which it was very very good. We dined inside because of the rain. Inside is a bit small but they also have and outdoor patio. I got a coffee and didn't realize how dirty it was until more than half way being done with it.. same thing with a glass cup for orange juice DISGUSTING... second of all the food was .. I can't even put it into words we got machaca plate and it looks like dog vomit, we also got huevos rancheros.. We love this hidden gem for dinners. Now only open th-Sa. One thing did change since we were here last, menu shrunk to one page. But they kept their more popular dishes. We were bummed about the smaller menu. They have a new outdoor patio cover with new side curtains and lighting if you choose outside Dinning. We have been here for breakfast many times. And that never disappoints. Tonight we enjoyed the salmon, Gorgonzola stuffed chicken, blueberry port reduction pork chops, crab gnocchi, and wienersnitchel. Then Onion soup and mushroom soup. Ok... here's the tough love coming up... the onion soup was nothing like we had before there. It's normally one of the best we've had. Not tonight. Disappointing. The pork chop was a much smaller portion. My salmon which had Balsalmic on top was over cooked. Idk if it's a different chef, but the mushroom soup also wasn't as hearty as we remember. We sat in the patio and it was comfortable but the flys were really bad. I know not much you can do about that. But it was bad they only have like 6 tables inside so be ready for your flying friends. The servers were extremely nice and helpful. These were the nicest people we met on the island of Cornado. We noticed that the iced coffee drinks were very popular. But we had regular coffee and orange juice which was good. We ordered the French toast with apples and the banana foster French toast. Both were good but the banana foster French toast was overly sweet and drowned in syrup. I think they mixed the regular syrup with the banana foster mixture of brown sugar and liquor. But this mixture made it so all I could taste was brown sugar and maple syrup. I suggest you order the hash browns to taper down the over whelming sweet flavor of the French toast syrup. Also maybe order the syrup on the side that would have definitely helped avoiding the swimming overly sweet flavor. This was a cute place and I would suggest trying something else and a coffee drink. read more

They seemed slightly understaffed and though it wasn't busy it took a while to get seated because no one was coming to the hostess stand. Once seated it wasn't clear who our server was so we kept having to flag people down but everyone was super friendly and attentive once we did get their attention. We split the special omelet and special frittata and both were delicious. However the pancakes were not good at all. Fluffy, yes, but as others have noted bitter and bland. Food is incredible. This place is an actual French style bakery with professional bakers. The service is always up to par, the ambiance makes you feel like you are outside of Coronado.
