I thought it would be busier on a Friday morning and I was glad it wasn't. Our table of 4 was seated very quickly, outside. We ordered the steak & eggs, crab Benedict, Jerry's machaco, and Belgian waffle. The service was great! The crab was delicious. I also had the lavender latte and it's listed as iced on the menu, but I was able to get it hot. The beans in the machaco were cooked to perfection. My only critique is that my cousin ordered his steak rare, but it came out as medium well. It was not sent back or anything because he enjoyed the hash browns and English muffin with jam so much. I definitely want to try the lunch options next time. read more

Food- 3.5 stars. We ordered Denver omelette and one cafe bistro special. Denver omelette was fine. Nothing out of the ordinary. My husband said he liked it. I do like their home made jam. Not too sweet and good with toast. My French toast was ok too. However, my corned beef hash was not good because it wasn't cooked all the way through. It was cold in the middle. I don't think they left it on the grill long enough. I told the waitress about it and she said she'll tell the cook. Never heard back so I ended up not eating it. Place is cute but small and cramp especially inside. So if you don't mind that then you will be fine. I believe this restaurant is attached to the hotel and is located off Orange Avenue. They get busy and there was a line so be patient. We were very patient to get in the restaurant and also for the food. I understand being patient but I think they can do a little bit better in food preparation even if they are in a hurry. Would I return? Not sure. It will be a while if I decide to return. read more

Had dinner the first night at Loews Coronado Bay resort. First, to only have one restaurant was really surprising (yes there is something at the pool). I ordered scallops which were actually very good, but that was about it for the restaurant. Our server Daniel was great! Personable, friendly, a true upside to an otherwise disappointing restaurant. read more

A true disappointment. The location was beautiful, perfectly placed, and the potential seemed to have no limits. We waited about 35 minutes, and got seated next to a high traffic door full of pestering flies which invaded our food and drinks for the next hour. The mimosas(left to right) - Classic? Ok nothing special -Green apple , crisp and refreshing - Grapefruit. Awful, mostly syrup no flavor. After about an hour of being there we finally got our food. The main meals: My french toast was chewy, cold and disappointing. The other meal was napolitano Joes egg scramble and it came out literally cold. Service: Fake. All i can say. She greets with a nice smile but took forever to come around every single time and someone else had to serve us our food . We asked for a fan to get some flies out of the way, but it never came. And to top off the morning, they ran out of ice for the drinks on a 90F day in San diego. Overall very dirty very inattentive and displeasuring. For a restaurant that is supposed to be 4.4 stars, it definitely didn't even come close. read more

I've driven past those orange umbrellas countless times. My wife and I decided to stop for lunch at Crown Bistro, on a Wednesday. Weekends are pretty crowded, but during the week, seating is generally immediate. There are three levels of ambience. There are seats under the umbrellas facing the Orange avenue sidewalk, then a partially enclosed, yet light and airy section with no wind and less traffic noise, and inside, a quiet, darkly romantic, air-conditioned and well-appointed room. I chose the enclosed section, since I'm not a fan of wind or traffic noise, and liked the outdoorsy feel of it. My entree was the Asian Chicken Salad ($14.95). At first I thought the portion was a bit small, but found it to be very satisfying, just right for lunch. The greens were fresh, the chicken perfectly grilled, walnuts, citrus, crunchies, and the dressing was out of this world good. I asked our server about it, and she said it was house-made (and probably secret). Jerry T was our server, and she was perfect, with check-backs and just all-around good and friendly service. Crown Bistro isn't exactly a hidden gem, being right on Orange Avenue with orange umbrellas, but it is an excellent place for lunch. I look forward to returning for breakfast one of these days. read more

Really glad we stopped here for brunch. We had plans to head somewhere else but before we could remember we were on our way to Coronado beach forgetting we had plans for brunch in another town lol .. anyway we stopped here and was seated within minutes. The staff was so friendly and our food came out in decent time. The food was really great. My friends from out of town really enjoyed!! read more

We had our Brunch here at CROWN BISTRO CORONADO. We brought our Dog Bambam 'coz this restaurant is PET FRIENDLY too. We got seated right away and ordered the following foods: *MARILYN' Omelette - Artichoke hearts, Spinach, and jack cheese omelette. Hash and Toast w / home made Jam *MIMOSA FLIGHT *NEW YORK STEAK and EGG - Hash brown and toast which came with Homemade Jam. *JERRY'S MACHACA - Braised shredded beef scrambled with bell pepper and onions. Served with refried beans and corn tortilla. Our Table was outside at the front of the restaurant and my husband and son liked it, there was a nice breeze and our dog was having Fun 'coz he got to see another dog too next to our Table :) For our Food, we liked everything that we got. I really liked my MARILYN' OMELETTE c especially since it has my 2 favorite Veggies, the Artichoke and Spinach. On my Husband's food, the JERRYS MACHACA, I got to wrap some of the shredded beef on the tortilla too 'coz they gave us extra tortilla when I requested it. When I added Tabasco on it, the taste got even better. My Son's NEW YORK STEAK and EGG had a good Portion and the steak was Flavorful and juicy, the New York steak and egg came with Toasted bread which came with some of their home-made Jam, which was very delicious. I forgot to ask them if they could sell me a Jar of it, but maybe I will ask again on our next visit 'coz their home made Jam is yummy ! My MIMOSA flight drinks were very cute with those small decorations on it, but they were very light in Alcohol, but it's okay, usually I'm a big heavy drinker at night anyways. And by the way, Our dog Bambam enjoyed some of the Steak too ;) The service is great and fast, and Jerry was so sweet, he really looked for a flower to put on our table too. I feel like this restaurant makes the majority of its money on waffles and French toast. They offer so many different variations of these on their regular menu and specials menu. My husband ordered a Banana Fosters French Toast and it was so delicious I couldn't stop helping myself to large bites! Nomz I wasn't craving a sweet entree so I ordered the Huevos Rancheros. It wasn't as impressive as the mountainous French toast won't entrees. It actually wasn't that impressive at all. The tortilla wasn't fried or crisped up. It was soft shelled and a bit soggy from being covered in green salsa. The not spicy salsa was still delicious but also the only real component to the Huevos Rancheros entree besides the tortilla, egg and cheese. I will say though that the side of refried beans and cheese was my favorite part of this entree. Service here was attentive and friendly. The café was buzzing with customers. There was even a picture of when Justin Timberlake had stopped by for some food! I wouldn't come back here for food because I like fancy coffee offerings and more than just French toast. But, we had a nice time here nonetheless! read more

Came in to celebrate my mom's birthday with brunch and it was such a lovely time. There is always a bit of a wait there but that's to be expected as this place is a gem. We ordered an assortment of things but I am consistently blown away by the house Belgian waffle. It's one of the most delicious waffles you will ever have. True shoutout though to the service at Crown Bistro. It was such a busy Sunday but as soon as they heard it was my mom's birthday, they came back with a birthday hat, little flowers, and brought her mimosa in a special little bird flute that she was absolutely delighted by. Sweet moments like that truly make for the most memorable of experiences and we have continued talking about how special that brunch was. Thanks, Crown Bistro! read more

Sadly didn't have a great experience. Flies were everywhere, my friend ordered steak and eggs and the steak was soggy. I also ordered eggs Benedict and the eggs were hard. Our fruit bowl had a hair in it and they still charged us and didn't replace the bowl even though we didn't touch it. There's a ton of great places in Coronado I might skip this one read more

Loved this place!!!! Yes it is pricey but the food was delicious!!! The rose and lavender lemonade was 1000/10!! I truly could drink those for the rest of my life. We practically ordered the whole menu and were beyond pleased with it all. You really can't go wrong with what you order here as long as it's the crab Benedict, blueberry pancakes, huevos rancheros, Jerry's machaca, and the Napolitano Joe's. read more

It was a nice place, first time coming here and most likely would be back soon. The place itself is very clean and neat. They have inside and outside seating! I decided to seat inside because it was a little bit cold. I wanted to try their lavender iced coffee and let me tell You it was phenomenal!!!! For main dishes I wanted the lobster Benedict eggs! That's where my 4 stats come because to be honest I had higher expectations from that! There was literally no lobster! But it was still tasty. And i also ordered the French toast the berry French toast! Those were delicious!!! Our server was friendly and polite! Even though he did t know they had lobster Benedict eggs lol until his co worker said "yes we have it" and the waiter was like how did you know and I said Instagram lol The prices are average! It's worth it! I'll definitely come back and try their other dishes! Plus it's located in beautiful Coronado. read more

Menu has a great variety of options and food is usually delicious! Service very casual but friendly , i.e. you have to ask for syrup if you order pancakes-ketchup if you order hash browns and some servers wear exercise clothing .. we were lucky to get seated on the porch because sometimes outside near the street can be loud and sunny. We are rooting for this business, but there is some room for improvement with server training and professionalism. Also maybe don't clear plates when most of the table is still eating -it impacts the dining experience. That being said-We have never had food we don't like here! So if you want a great meal and you don't mind okay service -this is the place! read more

Solid 4 stars and more like 4.5! We had the lamb chops, veal Marsala, penne pasta with sausage, champagne arugula salad with breaded chicken and filet Mignon stroganoff. All we're pretty solid and that order was our order of preference as well. Everything cooked pretty Al dente and flavors were all good. Service was amazing considering they only had 2 servers on all tables (small place) and their attention to water service and even the kids (getting them plastic cups and engaging with them) was amazing and appreciated. Will be back to this cozy quaint gem. read more

Small little Bistro located inside a hotel. We sat outside, it was quite hot on a summer day. The fly was a big issue for us because it didn't seem like there was a way to get rid of them. Not the most appetizing way to enjoy our brunch when you have flies flying all over the place. The food and presentation were wonderful. Good variety or choices and portions aren't bad at all. The only downside is the heat and the fly when you are sitting at a 100-degree temp in downtown SD. read more

I did a 3 month COVID quarantine on Coronodo Island. Crown Bistro was my go to for breakfast and lunch. I can't express how much I love this resturaunt. I've tried 90% of their menu. Sadly, I only had a few photo's to share but everything was fantastic. I really love their food presentation, the little flower and sage. My favorite was the Banana's Foster French toast, it was heaven. I really liked their staff. They were always friendly and accommodating. I think management handled social distancing very well. *** NOTE TO MANAGEMENT- My only complaint is that the staff all wear yoga pants. The guests are better dressed than the staff. Yoga pants are really offputting to me and very ghetto. I'm sorry but workout clothes should only be worn to the gym not to a charming little bistro. Are they serving food or cleaning the place. Something to think about when the guests are dressed better for breakfast than the staff. read more

If you are ever in Coronado, stop here to have brekkie. Hands down the most delicious brunch I've had in southern SD. Everything was absolutely scrumptious!! My bf and I enjoyed brunch here on my birthday morning. I had the delicious banana and berry French toast & he had the crab Benedict. We were absolutely satisfied with everything, especially the sweet waitress who kept the coffee coming. Everything was made fresh to order and we walked out stuffed. Quality 5 Taste/food 5 Experience 10 We'll def be back for more! read more

Established in 1994.

Nearly three decades ago, chef Jerry Tovar had the opportunity to purchase a quaint restaurant space nestled in the Crown City Inn on Orange Avenue. The cozy setting was perfect for the Tovar Family vision of a Coronado bistro where locals would become regulars; where consistently good food and a warm, inviting atmosphere brought patrons back again and again. Since its opening in 1994, the Crown Bistro has become just that. Both tourists and locals fi ll twinkling tables for cozy date nights with sumptuous food, and sit back under the happy yellow umbrellas for jovial Saturday and Sunday brunches. Many locals will tell you that this little bistro is one of the island's gems; perhaps even a celebrated relic in Coronado's ever-changing restaurant scene.

My order was ready as promised but when I got home (Chula Vista) I discovered that I didn't get the bananas. Annoying to be charged for something I didn't get and it was too far to return. One star for service, 3 for the food, overall 2 stars. I can't recommend it and won't return.
