This is my second visit to this restaurant for their pop-up. The Golden Girls Christmas Experience was a lot of fun! A huge improvement from their Malibu Beach Barbie Experience. That was a cute experience. I was able to purchase tickets on Bucketlister the day of. I purchased a 8:30PM-10:30PM timeslot on a Saturday night. This is after Christmas and New Year's Eve. When we arrived we were seated immediately to a table that was right in the middle of the decor. We were greeted by our server who gave us options for our welcome drinks. My friend order a red wine and I order a alcohol free hot cider. I enjoyed my cider. It was perfect for this cozy experience. For our meal, my friend ordered us the Bacon Lettuce Potatoe Sandwhich that comes with side of fries. It was a well-made BLT that exchange the tomatoes with potatoes chips. The crunchiness and the saltiness of the sandwich was satisfying. I complimented a couple of times on how well cooked, crisp, and flavorful the bacon was. It also looked as if the potatoes chips were housemade, or if not, quality kettle chips. The fries were seasoned to my liking yet I can understand that might be overly salty to others. I was pleased with the aoli dip for the fries. I ordered the Ho Ho Ho Mule as a mocktail. It was a carbonated, tart drink with a nice amount of sweetness that helped with the saltiness of the meal. For dessert we ordered the Holiday Cheesecake Flight. They came out in square which surprised my friend and I because we were expecting thick cake slices. Each were creamy and good. I would rate from best to least: Blanche, Rose, Dorothy, Sophia. To be honest the flight is overpriced for the size and flavors of the cakes. The decor was SO cute. Cozy, classy Christmas decor. One of the top Christmas pop-ups I have ever seen! We took many photos-op! Our server Alonzo was attentive, friendly, and has a great smile. He added to our experience. We had a good conversation with the staff before we departed. A service charge (gratuity) is added to the bill. It does round up to 25.9%. Overall, it was a great experience. Christmas Date Night with my wife, who is a huge Golden Girls fan. As much as she loved the photo ops, this event was just ok. $25 cover charge is a bit much. Walking in the door I was out $50 for the reservation and $15 for parking. A "Welcome" drink is all that is included at this point. The venue is clean and the staff is very nice. But those are the highlights. The menu is extremely overpriced for the quality and the portion size. I had heard this going in, so we only planned on having desserts. We were mainly here for the photo ops. The "Sperheoven Krispies" was a chocolate rice krispie with cream cheese frosting with a side of vanilla bean ice cream. The krispie was hard as a rock and felt like it was refrigerated. The cost was $12 Rose - our server was great. Super nice and friendly. She offered us refills on our drinks and was checking in on us often. Overall...if the theme overlay is something of interest to you (example: the previous one was the Barbie Cafe) know that you are paying a premium for the photo ops. read more

Alonzo C the bartender was fantastic at this restaurant! He provided wonderful service and was a great conversationalist. Located inside the Hilton Garden Inn / Homewood Suites on Pacific Hwy, the convenience had me eating in here twice this trip. I had the pictured burger twice as it had an amazing flavor added to the ground beef. The first time I was being good and had it bunless with a side salad; the next time I broke down and got the tots as they had expanded their menu and added some new items! On July 19th, I went to the Malibu Barbie cafe pop up . The hostesses were super welcoming and sweet . I tried the grilled cheese with fries and had a cocktail. While the vibe is pure Barbiecore bliss--perfect for pics and sipping--I'd give it a 6/10. The experience seemed to be way over hyped by bloggers. Plus the prices were outrageous for what we ordered. Our server kept taking a while to check on us and give us things. The food was average, and service felt unpolished; my sister needed to ask multiple times for simple things, despite the cafe not being busy. But hey, it just opened, so kinks are expected. I'd recommend coming for the ambiance and a drink, then heading elsewhere for dinner. It's best enjoyed as a whimsical, photo‑op afternoon rather than a full dining experience. Picture this: San Diego, 2025. It's the afternoon -- perfect for Golden Girls nostalgia, a drink, maybe an appetizer or two. Instead, we walked into something that felt straight out of one of Stan Zbornak's business ventures: overpriced, underwhelming, and both confusing and disappointing. We attended the Golden Girls Pop-Up Experience, so this review reflects only the pop-up -- not the restaurant's regular menu or service. It was $51.61 for two people for the table reservation and the included drink (wine, beer, or a canned cocktail). The themed Golden Girls cocktails were not included and required an additional purchase, which felt surprising for a themed event. We ordered two appetizers: fries and meatballs. Our total was $38, including a $10.60 service charge. For that price we received: * A small portion of limp fries with a strong garlicky aioli on the side * Three meatballs in a thin, watery sauce with very little flavor And honestly, as Sophia would say, "If that sauce had any less personality, it'd be dating Stan." Cheesecake pricing was also high: * $40 for a cheesecake flight of four flavors * $16 for a small slice We skipped it -- and after seeing the portion, we felt we avoided another Golden Girls-style disappointment. The souvenirs were cute, so I asked a staff member if a planter was supposed to be Dorothy. She said she had no idea what I was referring to, and she didn't turn to see the item I was pointing toward. It felt out of place for a Golden Girls-themed event. To be fair, our waitress was friendly and helpful, and Blanche's boudoir room was nicely done and fun to see. This place was connected to the hotel that we were staying at. Seem to have decent reviews. Place was not that busy but seem to be understaffed. Took a long time to get someone to take our order but the staff was really friendly. The place is decorated nice and it has a good scenery of all the ships in the harbor. Parking is not easy unless you want to pay for valet pkg. I realize it is an expense but the restaurant would be a lot busier if they validated. The ambience was nice except that we were the only 2 people in a rather large space which made it a little echoey. The service was superb, friendly and accommodating and quick. When you are the only ones there, I guess it should be. Food selection was very limited, but what we had was excellent. Everything prepared exactly as requested. My girlfriend and I went to the Golden Girls Christmas experience at Bayside Kitchen in San Diego. We drove two hours for what we believed (based on the website) was a brunch drag show scheduled for Saturday. Unfortunately, the website is misleading. The drag show only happens once on Saturdays from 10-11 a.m., and our tickets were not for that show, despite the way the experience is marketed to appear like a full 90-minute event. That said, our tickets included two alcoholic drinks, the venue was cute, and we tried to make the best of it. The food was good, we enjoyed the scenery, ordered our included drinks, and my girlfriend ordered one additional glass of wine. We stayed for cheesecake and browsed the gift shop. The real problem started when the check came. My girlfriend discreetly handed her credit card to the waitress. When the card was returned, the waitress said, "By the way, I took all your drinks off the bill, because you guys are cool," and winked. We thanked her, thinking it was a nice gesture. But something didn't sit right. We were only given a credit card receipt (not an itemized bill) and the total seemed very high. I asked the hostess for the itemized check. When it arrived, both of our drinks (which were already included with our tickets) were still on the bill, along with a large service fee of about 20%. We told the waitress the bill wasn't correct. She wasn't apologetic and blamed the manager for discounting it incorrectly. When I asked whether the service fee was gratuity, she explicitly told us no, saying it went to the hotel (The Hilton), not to the staff. She returned with a revised bill where the drinks were finally removed, but now the service fee was even LARGER! At that point, we asked to speak with a manager. While waiting, we checked our tickets online and saw that a 20% gratuity is disclosed as being added. When the manager arrived, I asked him directly if the service fee was gratuity. He said yes. So to be very clear: the waitress told us she comped our drinks when she did not, and she lied about where the service fee was going. The drinks she claimed to comp were already included with our tickets, and the service fee she said went to the hotel was actually gratuity. Only providing a credit card slip instead of an itemized bill feels intentional. The manager said he would "look into it" and removed our cheesecake as a courtesy. This review isn't about wanting anything for free or getting money back. It's about intentional dishonesty and what felt like fraudulent billing practices. I seriously doubt we were the first people this happened to. The place was packed with middle-aged and older women who may not closely inspect their receipts or realize they're being charged for drinks that are supposed to come with their tickets, or misunderstand what the service fee actually is. The whole experience screams deception. It's disappointing, it's unethical, and it's not right. Greedy businesses eventually fall. How dare you try to take advantage of people. And honestly, Betty White is turning over in her grave. Shame on you! read more

After a long commute to San Diego, my hotel room wasn't ready. Stopped in to BKB and felt better. Happy Hour started at 2pm. I ordered the Shrimp Tacos and the All Fired Up Margarita special. Stephanie, the Manager hooked me up, very nice, Just what I needed. The tacos were loaded with shrimp, avocado, salsa, and cilantro. Slightly spicy and prepared perfectly with warm tortillas, really good. The Margarita was the happy hour special, not bad. This restaurant is part of the Hilton Hotel--and let me tell you, it's one of the best hotel restaurants I've ever been to! From the moment I walked in, the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. What really blew me away? They have happy hour every single day. Yes, every day! That's basically unheard of. As a vegetarian, I really appreciated that they had solid options. I went with the veggie burger and devoured the entire thing--it was that good. Their beer selection is on point, and the morning coffee? Also top-tier. They've truly got it all covered. The vibe is chill, stylish, and just the kind of place you want to hang out in. I was actually pleasantly surprised on the meal especially since it was attached to the hotel. The salmon was better than the steak. The salmon had a great sear..the pea risotto was soft, and the carrots were seasoned very well. Our alcohol drinks could have been a little stiffer, but overall a decent experience. read more

It's good. Part of the Hilton Garden Inn downtown, SD. I went 2 times. One for happy hour and the next day for breakfast. Happy hour - sat right at the bar. Drinks were $4 off. I had their version of an old fashioned. Pretty good with a nice orange peel garnish inside. Hotel food / bev credit made this very affordable. Good service. Breakfast: promptly greeted and allowed to sit wherever I wanted. Nice fresh coffee served. I ordered the power platter. It was served pretty fast with decent portions. Good service. Overall, a good place. Parking may be tough to find. They do have a value for the hotel at $10 per hour, but not clear if it's validated for restaurant patrons. Recommended read more

My experience was similar to what others have posted here regarding the golden girls experience. $30 to walk in the door to sit at the bar or a 2 or 4 top table. One drink is included. However, if you order food beware! There is a mandatory 20% surcharge automatically added to your food purchase, and is also charged on the retail price of your complimentary beverage! We ordered fries and roasted Brussels sprouts, which came out to $40 with the surcharge! There is a 10 second loop of golden girls playing, which was badly edited. Not sure why they don't play reruns of the actual show. The kitchen looks nothing like the golden girls kitchen, and the window lighting makes photos look awful. I didn't even bother looking in blanches room. Parking nearby by the hour will cost you a few more bucks. The experience is poorly done and very expensive, I would skip it and go to an actual nice restaurant. The Instagram photos here are not worth it! read more

Food poisoning. My husband and I came for lunch, and he had the salmon on top of risotto. We both agreed that the risotto was off; it was oddly stale and mushy. Regardless, he finished his whole plate. Within 2 hours he was plagued with severe stomach cramps, constant diarrhea, and a fever. He hasn't been able to sleep at all, as he had to go to the bathroom every hour. Otherwise, the food was mediocre; the cavatappi was bland and watery, and all the meats (chicken and salmon) were pretty dry. The drunken shrimp was tasty, but for the price point for 5 pieces? Something to consider. Our server was fantastic and so kind to us, which is sadly the only redeeming factor of this experience. read more

This restaurant is connected to the Hilton Garden Inn. We had just arrived at the hotel and wanted a quick bite to eat. My review would have been four stars for the food, but the customer service became ridiculously slow when it was time to settle the check. It's not a good thing when you're sitting there after you've finished eating, and have sat there long enough to catch up on your Yelp page. You begin looking around for your waitress, in our case, who has not materialized in 10 minutes. We attempted flagging down the gentleman (management) who was milling around the bar. He was doing nothing except being on his computer and alternated between that, and watching customers. He was also making it his life mission to ignore our attempts to get his attention. So I got up and got in his face at the bar: Me to Manager: "Our waitress seems to have disappeared. Can you close out our tab?" Manager: "Oh, she went on break." I walked back to our table, and my Yelp. Finally, several minutes later, Mr. Manager appears at our table, without the check. I state again: "We'd just like our check, please." He walks away and disappears, this time behind the partition located behind the bar. * SIGH. After almost 20 minutes of finally getting the check and paying it, we'd consumed a lunch over an hour long. I am sure this is why this restaurant located in Little Italy was never busy during our stay here. Even though their food is okay, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant if you don't have the time to linger. The location, although technically in Little Italy, is set away too far from the happening part of it. As such, I suspect the bulk of clientele are hotel guests. At the time we stayed at the hotel, the Yelp Check-In Offer was a Free Appetizer, but it is now something about Free 2-Hour Valet Parking. When we picked our appetizer, we were told the freebie is only one choice, their choice. Okay. Guacamole and chips it is. This was the best part of lunch. Our waitress was attentive and chatty throughout, until she went on break. Her tip suffered as a result. My Boom Burger was an okay burger, but the cat-and-mouse-service at the end marred the experience for me. I'm not sure why our waitress didn't let us pay our check before she went on break. Another server had just arrived on shift, so I'll assume It was most likely her manager who forced her to do so before she closed out her one table . . . ours. As a result, her tip greatly suffered, plus, this would be a four-star review. read more

I ordered their espresso martini during their happy hour and Alfonso made it perfectly! The service was great that we even came back for a night cap. Came here for breakfast as it is connected to the Hilton Garden Inn bayside. The buffet was nice. They have the option to order an one omelette or eggs or French toast. The French toast was Awesome ! The potatoes from the Buffett were excellent. Their fresh bread selection was very nice. The only reason for three stars versus more is that I couldn't get or find hot sauce for the potatoes or omelet. By the time the waiter was near, it wasn't needed. Otherwise. This place was a mixed experience for me. They did something well, and others could use some consideration. I was going to order an omelette al carte, but when I learned I could get the omelette and access to the buffet items, including ordering items to order for $2 more, it was a no brain-er. If I remember correctly, the meal came to $18. The omelette I had them make me came with chicken apple sausage, spinach, mushrooms, and topped with avocado slices. I had it with no cheese because they did carry a cheese to my liking for this particular omelette. In fact, they only carry cheddar and goat cheese. I was like, "no Provolone, no Feta, no Swiss, and no Mozzarella? I wanted to cry. In the end, the omelette was pretty good, especially the egg portion, be mushrooms needed to be rendered down more and the chicken sausage warmed more thoroughly. As part of the buffet, I also ordered the Brioche French Toast. This was good and would of been much better if they would of allowed for the bread to properly soak up the egg before placing on the griddle. The center of the brioche was just bread. Other than that, it tasted great. For the buffet, I had breakfast sausage which was good, bacon which was okay, multigrain toast which got stuck in the toaster conveyor and was unevenly toasted, and some potatoes O'Brien which way to larger and held to much oil. The buffet also offers, pastries & breads, oatmeal, scrambled eggs, fruit, yogurt, not to mention the additional items one came order a la carte, including pancakes and such. read more

Waking up to these Captain Crunch crusted French Toast....like am I still dreaming?! Don't sleep on @baysidekitchenandbar 's breakfast burritos either. I noticed they seared the tortilla afterwards, and it really makes a world of a difference. None of that hash goodness will escape the hungry wrath!! If either of these don't tickle your fancy, Bayside also offers the best breakfast buffet complete with chilaquiles and breakfast potatoes. Staying at the @baysidehiltons is so clutch because it's close proximity to the @citycruises dinner cruise, AND you only walk down yo the lobby to enjoy a full on brunch! With the location being so close to Waterfront Park, I'm definitely staying here next CRSSDFEST!! read more

Honestly I understand the 5 star rating. 2 at best maybe because if the small local clientele. I am a South Park native, moved to Manhattan during Pandemic and exited to come back and and experience something new in the hood. But... Pros: They are as accommodating as they can be for any party over 3, even at 5p. Don't show up here with any more than 5. The staff is nice enough for the price tag. Being in Manhattan the small, local price tag doesn't scare me but I do have expectations. Which brings me to the Cons: the crab/corn cakes looked amazing in other peoples tables...but they are just deep fried balls of bread crumbs. No crab what so ever in my ball and tasted exactly how deep fried bread crumbs would taste served with mustard aioli straight out of jar. Next to the burger. The adjectives sounded like all my favorite things and at the price tag was ready for something amazing. Hence, it comes (no fries, that's $9 more) as a smash burger type brioche bun, burnt. Just a patty of ok (not amazing) seasoning and drenched in brown gravy. That's it...burnt bun, meat patty and gravy...nothing there. Dessert was olive oil cake with honey which was a dry, over cooked tasteless piece of cake drenched in honey- not artisan honey..just plain out of a cheap Bear container tasting. Passed it around table and still left half behind. Had 2 bottles of wine totaling $90...and the bill was $195 for 1 appetizer, 1 French fry for the table, 2 burgers and their fish special (off menu for a non meat eater $27). Maybe I am a snob but to walk with a $230 bill after tip and be a bit angry was not my intention for the evening. Get your menu and kitchen together and maybe this place has a chance. read more

The spicy chicken sandwich on the dinner menu isn't something that I can put off to the end of my review. It deserves the opening line and all of the spotlight. It's labeled as spicy but it just has a very tasty kick to it that doesn't linger. The sauce doesn't distract from how perfectly the breading traps the moisture in the chicken. Altogether it has a great balance to it. I would say don't get me started on the fries, but actually get me started...on another order. They're possibly the best fries I've ever had. Perfectly crispy, on the thinner side without being too tiny. Very appropriately seasoned. Raquel, my server, deserves a lot of praise too for being the only server on staff and juggling the slower Monday evening on her own. She was polite, prompt, and circled back around at a very nice pace. I never got the impression she was rushed or stressed which helped me enjoy my dinner all the more. Bayside hasn't seen the last of me but it is waiting to see the first of you ;) read more

5 star for the servers but not for the manager that was working on feb 4 in the morning. Seemed pretty rude just coz I cAme form the gym doesn't mean I can just sit there and eAt while my room was being cleaned. As I came to the restaurant this morning the manager looked me up and down and just ignored me. I seared myself which was fine. The wait staff is amazing. Super sweet and professional. THe day before a sweet lady served me and today a nice gentleman from Asian Descent served me. Food is okay but you can't expect a lot from a breakfast. One thing I hate is that the silverware has water spots all ovEr them and it's just annoying. Getting breakfast is convenient here for me while I am staying at the Hilton. read more
