Bunless BKB Burger & Tots
Ian M.

Alonzo C the bartender was fantastic at this restaurant! He provided wonderful service and was a great conversationalist. Located inside the Hilton Garden Inn / Homewood Suites on Pacific Hwy, the convenience had me eating in here twice this trip. I had the pictured burger twice as it had an amazing flavor added to the ground beef. The first time I was being good and had it bunless with a side salad; the next time I broke down and got the tots as they had expanded their menu and added some new items! The bar is brightly lit and clean; it changed decor throughout the year based on holidays and has a nice fire pit outside to enjoy your cocktails and company by.

On July 19th, I went to the Malibu Barbie cafe pop up . The hostesses were super welcoming and sweet . I tried the grilled cheese with fries and had a cocktail. While the vibe is pure Barbiecore bliss--perfect for pics and sipping--I'd give it a 6/10. The experience seemed to be way over hyped by bloggers. Plus the prices were outrageous for what we ordered. Our server kept taking a while to check on us and give us things. The food was average, and service felt unpolished; my sister needed to ask multiple times for simple things, despite the cafe not being busy. But hey, it just opened, so kinks are expected. I'd recommend coming for the ambiance and a drink, then heading elsewhere for dinner. It's best enjoyed as a whimsical, photo‑op afternoon rather than a full dining experience. I wish all the best for this pop up .

Picture this: San Diego, 2025. It's the afternoon -- perfect for Golden Girls nostalgia, a drink, maybe an appetizer or two. Instead, we walked into something that felt straight out of one of Stan Zbornak's business ventures: overpriced, underwhelming, and both confusing and disappointing. We attended the Golden Girls Pop-Up Experience, so this review reflects only the pop-up -- not the restaurant's regular menu or service. It was $51.61 for two people for the table reservation and the included drink (wine, beer, or a canned cocktail). The themed Golden Girls cocktails were not included and required an additional purchase, which felt surprising for a themed event. We ordered two appetizers: fries and meatballs. Our total was $38, including a $10.60 service charge. For that price we received: * A small portion of limp fries with a strong garlicky aioli on the side * Three meatballs in a thin, watery sauce with very little flavor And honestly, as Sophia would say, "If that sauce had any less personality, it'd be dating Stan." Cheesecake pricing was also high: * $40 for a cheesecake flight of four flavors * $16 for a small slice We skipped it -- and after seeing the portion, we felt we avoided another Golden Girls-style disappointment. The souvenirs were cute, so I asked a staff member if a planter was supposed to be Dorothy. She said she had no idea what I was referring to, and she didn't turn to see the item I was pointing toward. It felt out of place for a Golden Girls-themed event. To be fair, our waitress was friendly and helpful, and Blanche's boudoir room was nicely done and fun to see. Overall: * Small appetizer portions * Higher pricing * Themed cocktails not included * Staff not very engaged with the theme Cheesecake and Golden Girls reruns at home would've been a much better experience.

This place was connected to the hotel that we were staying at. Seem to have decent reviews. Place was not that busy but seem to be understaffed. Took a long time to get someone to take our order but the staff was really friendly. The place is decorated nice and it has a good scenery of all the ships in the harbor. Tried the churro waffles, which were really good, kids like the pancakes and I had the breakfast sandwich. Would like to come back here for lunch or dinner next time in the area.

My sister grinch and I enjoying our drinks.

Amazing service, wonderful golden girls ambiance going on for the holidays. Mishella was our server, she was absolutely wonderful. Attentive and interactive the entire time we were here, the drinks were absolutely delicious and I even ordered a specific drink and they were able to make it! Wonderful place all year around especially during their events it adds so much fun and excitement!

After a long commute to San Diego, my hotel room wasn't ready. Stopped in to BKB and felt better. Happy Hour started at 2pm. I ordered the Shrimp Tacos and the All Fired Up Margarita special. Stephanie, the Manager hooked me up, very nice, Just what I needed. The tacos were loaded with shrimp, avocado, salsa, and cilantro. Slightly spicy and prepared perfectly with warm tortillas, really good. The Margarita was the happy hour special, not bad. I up the ante on the 2nd round with a Cadillac, Alonzo did it right, appreciate ya, excellente. No crowd, nice place, good staff. Thanks for everything

I was actually pleasantly surprised on the meal especially since it was attached to the hotel. The salmon was better than the steak. The salmon had a great sear..the pea risotto was soft, and the carrots were seasoned very well. Our alcohol drinks could have been a little stiffer, but overall a decent experience.

Food was good. Took longer than expected to get and also receive our refills with a non busy time. Servicer was polite. Ambiance is relaxed. Everyone were quiet, enjoying space. View typical San Diego traffic with a side of sky. Location is within walking distance of bay. 8 minute drive to Seaport. Overall, yummy food and okay experience.

The service was outstanding from start to finish and the food completely lived up to the hype. I had the lobster mac and cheese and it was unlike anything I've ever had. Rich, flavorful, and worth every bite. Then dessert happened. Our server insisted I couldn't leave without trying the peanut butter brownie ice cream dessert and now I fully understand why. Unreal. I think I need about seven more of them immediately. Highly recommend for celebrations, group dinners, date nights, or anytime you really want to impress people.

I tend to keep it simple and order the same items every time. My go to is the crispy Brussels for $14 and the chicken sandwich for $16, and I usually rotate in the parmesan fries for $10. While they do offer other dishes that are worth trying, these favorites always keep me coming back. The service and ambiance are consistently great. It is located in Hillcrest, so the area is always lively, which adds to the overall experience. The energy, combined with the quality of the food, makes it a reliable choice whether I am dining with friends or hosting out of town guests. Food: We had a few options like always. I mean why not right! We started with * Tempura Rock Shrimp - this was crazy good. I did not expect the flavors to punch me in the mouth like it did. Crispy, light batter, the glaze and toppings really made it a phenomenal appetizer. I would highly recommend this dish. It is small in quantity but if feeds 2 people easily. * Crab Cakes - the crab cakes are good they do have a nice crispy texture on the outside but the inside is tender and packed with your normal Crab Cakes flavors. Not a bad choice. It was fresh and the portions are above average. * Balboa Rolll - somehow this roll with so many different flavors and textures went so well together. Cuddos to the chef for this one. The scallions on top changed the entire roll. I really loved this one. Would definitely order it again. Portion size was larger than the average roll. * Overstuffed Bacon & Eggs - this one was crazy!! It's literally a tower of deviled egg yoke with bacon, bits of celery and paprika on top. This was my least favorite only because the amount of yoke compared to the actual egg you get didn't add up. Once the egg is gone you're left with a mountain of egg yoke. It's way to much for my taste. The yoke also seemed a little dry and pasty. For deviled egg lovers this is a dream come true. * Skirt Steak & Eggs - wife said it was really good and the red chimichiri complimented the steak just right. The portions were large, the steak was juicy and cooked perfecrly to her request. With skillet fried smahed potatoes and toasted buttered bread. Very good option for steak lovers. Service: The staff was great from the check-in booth to the waiter everyone did such a great job and was so polite. I couldn't help notice that everyone was smiling and super helpful. This is a great team working at that restaurant. Bar tenders were on top of drinks which was nice to get your drink shortly after ordering. Atmosphere: It's an ocean side restaurant or should I say on the ocean restaurant with wall to wall windows showing the ocean and the beautiful San Diego landscape. Really enjoyed the area and activities. Price: The appitizers were above average prices but hey!! Totally worth it. It ranged from $16-$30 per dish, its really not too bad for the quality of food and service. Location: It's located in Seaport Village which has so many different places to try and plenty of businesses to walk and find some really cool things. Parking: It's a pay to park lot but we found parking fairly easy but it is pricey to park there. I think we paid $24 for a couple of hours.

Truly, our service was what one always hopes for in fine dining for but so rarely receives these days. Our primary did an excellent job helping us select our meal. She was attentive, supportive and a pleasure to talk with, yet also discreet. Plates were well-timed. Our water glasses always seemed to be full although I rarely noticed it happening. All of our entrees were delicious. Favorites? Probably, first, the Hokkaido Scallop starter. The scallops themselves were huge, perfectly cooked with a crusted chili crunch topping and served with a delicious miso butter sauce. Not overly spicy, the flavors meshed perfectly. I also loved the Miso Black Cod (especially because it's a dish one can rarely find near the East Coast where we live.) Any misses? Not really, although the Pâté de Campagne was prepared as very rustic. We requested the patio, drawn in by descriptions of a vibrant, lively porch. What we got was four tables, a persistent wind tunnel, and a front-row seat to the San Diego flight path, meaning every few minutes, conversation came to a full stop for a low-flying plane. No warning from the restaurant, which felt like a miss. Inside next time, without question. The menu itself was a little overwhelming at first, but our server stepped in with confident suggestions that completely redeemed the experience. And then the food arrived. The house sourdough with Mikolich Farm honey butter was the kind of bread course that makes you reconsider every other bread course. The shio tang oysters with mojito foam and cucumber relish were playful and precise. The three cheese tortellini, wild porcini, english peas, aged parm brodo, was the standout of the night: rich, deeply layered, and deeply comforting. The saffron bigoli and miso black cod were both beautifully executed. We paired everything with a Russian River Valley Pinot that was an ideal match for the table. Bottom line: the kitchen is firing on all cylinders. Sit inside, trust your server, and order the tortellini. You won't regret it.
