Stopped in for tea & coffee Lots of loose leaf tea options, I got earl grey. It was delicious. There are a plethora of coffee options also. Walked out with a bunch of baked goodies I didn't expect to get, but they all looked so good! We tried the macarons and chocolate dipped Madeline's. I was in Coronado and decided to try a crepe and beignets here, as I had heard good things about this place. I was directed to go to the counter to place a to go order. I waited and was ignored (by at least 2 people behind the counter) for several minutes before i had to ask for help. I ordered a strawberry and banana crepe, was charged appropriately for requesting extra fruit, then waited about 15 minutes. My order was ready as promised but when I got home (Chula Vista) I discovered that I didn't get the bananas. Annoying to be charged for something I didn't get and it was too far to return. One star for service, 3 for the food, overall 2 stars. I can't recommend it and won't return. read more

This is such a lovely bistro in Coronado, nestled in between the gym and another cafe, Clayton's Bakery & Bistro is a quaint spot for a sweet treat and some French-style food. We came during their happy hour which is daily from 3pm-7pm! Enjoyed a nice espresso martini which was seriously delicious, on their patio. Although my meal wasn't very French style at all, I still had an amazing steak sandwich and fries. The steak sandwich was dripping with juices, and sandwiched in between ciabatta roll, which was toasted and warm. It was recommended by our server, and I thank her for her recs! Lastly, we got to try some of their desserts. They were all delicious, and I enjoyed their Moon Pie the most. We actually had a hiccup with our meal (found something in the sandwich), but the service remained professional and was taken seriously. The food here is tasty, though and everyone is friendly. However recently they changed their service model where instead of ordering as you enter and the food is brought to you, they have the traditional waitress service and that has resulted in significant delays in the food coming to the tables! We stopped in for Sunday brunch after church and only had a short wait for a table for two. The service was prompt, welcoming, and very sweet and helpful. What a wonderful place for breakfast lunch or brunch. We came here on a Sunday afternoon after checking out of our hotel. We were told to wait 20 minutes for a party of 6. Very friendly and welcoming hostess. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. One side is a bakery and one side is the bistro. The food here was delicious. Everything we ordered from coffee to dishes tastes amazing. The bagel with lox and cream cheese I ordered was the best one I ever had at a restaurant. My husband ordered a croque Monsieur and loved it. Again the best one ever. The avocado toast and the wraps were as good. My son had the honey bee cortado which was perfectly made. This is for the stop and bakery not the actual sit down restaurant. The food was delicious and the coffee was good. The service was okay, though a little rushed. It's just a pickup spot so it's a little cramped and I would have loved to have a little more time to just peruse all of the knickknacks and options but I felt pressured to get my stuff and go. This place was such a treat! We've been walking around the island and needed a midday break and this bakery and bistro delivered! I'm pretty sure the bakery and bistro were separate but we only visited the bakery portion. It's very small inside and there was a line when we entered. Owner replied back to my review. Super weird place that seems to not wanna accept accountability. Blamed the fly issue on being close to beach. Every place is close to the beach and doesn't have this issue. Especially if it's been on going for months and still not contained. Really weird vibes from this place. This was recommended to me by several people. Popped in here and it is a cute little quaint bistro. One side is a restaurant, and the other side is a bakery. They have indoor and outdoor seating. A front patio and a back patio. The weather was perfect so we decided to sit on the front patio. The staff was friendly and very helpful with recommendations. I started with the cinnamon honey latte (delicious!) got the Dolce de Leche bread pudding (sooooo good!) and the Eggs, bacon, fontina (on an amazing soft, flaky, buttery croissant). Service at first seemed a tad bit slow but I think it was recognized and adjusted as our server was switched out in the middle of our meal. That in itself won favor in my opinion. I wanted to try this adorable bakery on my last visit but didn't have time as it was a short work trip to NASNI and I didn't have a lot of free time on the island. Last week, I was able to spend an afternoon and have lunch and chose to spend it here! I'm so glad I did. This is going to be one of those, must eat at spots from now on when I'm on Coronado. I was easily sat on the back patio outside without a wait and a friendly server came to take my order within just a few minutes. I tried the Lavender Vietnamese Iced Coffee and their Spinach, Tomato and Cheese Croissant. Both were wonderful, I did have to have my coffee remade bc it was so sweet it didn't taste like coffee ut more like syrup. Easily taken care of by my server who was attentive and proficient the entire time and apologized for the ratio of milk/syrup to coffee. My sandwich on the buttered croissant was amazing and I chose to add their fresh house-made chips for $4 which was a huge portion (I took half to go and enjoyed later) and very delicious and crispy and fresh. After lunch I went to the bakery next door to browse the sweets and every single thing was beautiful and delicious. They have huge cookies and small cupcakes as well as gorgeous fresh whole cakes you can purchase. Staff inside was equally as friendly and sweet. read more

We spent a few days at the Hotel Del, but ate twice at this lovely cafe in the cute downtown of Coronado. We ordered beignets to share, I ordered the quiche Lorraine with fresh fruit and my husband had a frittata the first day. The beignets were soft and light but the real star of the dish was the lemon curd. So smooth and tangy. I could have eaten a bucket of that! The quiche was so good I got it again the second time we went. The hubby liked the frittata but I think he was expected a heartier serving size but said it tasted very good, so the second time he got little hotdogs wrapped in puff pastry. He shared one with me and that pastry was so good! They also have a cute little bakery next door, and both times we got giant cookies to take bath with us. So delicious. Beware of the flies if you choose to eat on the patio. Hardly the restaurant's fault but something to be aware of. read more
