Flowers & Cabernet Sauvignon
Jennifer A.

Had some great happy hour bites at the Tavern. The $7 Cabernet Sauvignon was delicious. Loved the floral center piece at the table and the beautiful distressed wood table itself. Service was friendly, and the food came out promptly. The waygu steak taco was my favorite, it had a great flavor and was very tender. I definitely recommend the Brussels sprouts, lots of Parmesan and thick balsamic glaze. I'll definitely be back!

Almost Famous, left, and French Martini

We came for pre-game cocktails and had a great experience! Super cool looking place, it's got a fun vibe and service was great. We had a few cocktails from their specials menu and they were creative and delicious. While we didn't eat here, the food going to tables and bar looked very good, and almost made us blow off reservations elsewhere. But, that's bad form, so we'll just have to go back again sometime.

Came here to watch football and eat dinner. Cool location "underground" in downtown coronado. Drinks were good. I liked my steak tacos. Dad liked his burger. Both were good, not great. Nice dark moody bar theme, but only 2 TVs behind the bar.

Tomato Soup Gratinée

Great spot located on the main street, but set on a lower level to create a lovely and intimate setting. Outdoor seating is available, but the interior truly is warm and inviting with lots of wood, stone, low lighting and subtle floral accents. Our bartender/server Hannah was great. Friendly, attentive, quick and helpful. My husband had the sliders, which he enjoyed. I ordered the Crispy Brussel Sprouts, which were flash fried and too burnt for me. I couldn't find any green in the dish. All the sprouts looked and tasted overdone. Thankfully, the dish was removed from our bill and I was given a chance to order something else. I chose the Tomato Soup Gratinée, which was INCREDIBLE. It came out in a small bowl, but the serving was perfect. The soup was rich and satisfying with lots of mozarella. All in all, a spot worth visiting.

This place had a cool vibe and a huge variety of drinks. The food was good. I ordered the chicken parm sando with Caesar salad. I also had a whiskey sour, which was really good. My friends had fish & chips (huge portion), the chicken pot pie (pretty presentation is a special white bowl), salmon (didn't come with as much veggies as I would've hoped). My only gripe about the spot was how cold it was when we were seated (lol). It was sprinkling outside.

Wagyu steak with chimichurri

While in Coronado we go to experience the most amazing meal ever! We both got the wagyu steak and it was one of the best steak meals we've had! It was sooo tender and the chimichurri was just so tasteful. I order a lemon drop martini which was made well and my husband had a michelada which was okay , a bit too sour. But Our server was really nice and attentive. The only reason I'm giving this place a 4 stars is because my chair was quite wobbly and the tables were a bit sticky . But I would come back just for that steak.

We found this spot just by walking by it. Very cool layout with the big window open to the street. Our drinks and food were great, the service was some of the best we've had in San Diego. I would definitely recommend the tavern if you're on Coronado!

Aloe & Cucumber

Delicious craft cocktails. This is the Aloe & Cucumber. Light and crisp and just enough sweetness

We popped in here for a quick drink while visiting Coronado. The bartender was really personable and funny. I got the mule and it was delish!

The bar is an old gym floor. Recycling is good.

We had a good time here. The Tavern has a lovely "Cheers" vibe. They work to make you feel welcome and comfortable. The food is tasty and the drinks are inspired. A great place to relax and recharge your battery.

Cauliflower steak w/ Cauliflower puree
Bridget B.

My team and I came here for a work event on a week day. The service was fantastic, everything came out super quick, and everything tasted fresh. All of my coworkers enjoyed their salmon and I liked the cauliflower dish. I could've used another item on the dish to fill me up besides the cauliflower but the flavors were great! The Brussel sprouts, charcuterie, and cookie skillets were a big hit too. Great place for a work group!

We enjoyed the open kitchen, the high ceilings, the breeze and the comfort! We didn't have reservations and it was Mother's Day weekend so we expected to wait and I'm glad we did. I had a delicious granola bowl, a few people in my group had the Eggs Benedict on the house-made English muffins (so good) and there was a very happy avocado toast in the mix. We shared an epic French toast with magical cinnamon syrup - really recommend the French toast!! Loved it enough to add it to the rotation when visiting San Diego.

There were a bunch of nearby shops to browse in as we waited We wanted to try the pretzels which The Henry is known for, but they were all out by 6:30pm I got the filet mignon. It was cooked to absolute perfection. Finally a restaurant that knows what medium rare is!! My boyfriend got the skirt steak with double egg fried rice. He loved it Also!!! I ordered black iced tea, it was THE BEST iced tea I've ever been served at a restaurant. You can tell it was brewed in house and they use high quality tea We wished the dessert menu had a creme brûlée! Our server was so kind and professional Overall an amazing date night, the Henry is decorated so cute inside and I loved the candlelight touches. We'd come here again! We had a party of 15 and from the planning process to the actual dinner, the restaurant made the entire experience feel special and seamless. Our employees absolutely loved it. The views are honestly second to none. Watching the San Diego skyline and water during dinner created such an incredible atmosphere. The service was outstanding from start to finish and the food completely lived up to the hype. I had the lobster mac and cheese and it was unlike anything I've ever had. Rich, flavorful, and worth every bite. Then dessert happened. Our server insisted I couldn't leave without trying the peanut butter brownie ice cream dessert and now I fully understand why. Unreal. I think I need about seven more of them immediately. Highly recommend for celebrations, group dinners, date nights, or anytime you really want to impress people.

I'll review our dinner and then post the brunch review in a few days! First, the view is gorgeous. The Marriott Coronado has a gorgeous piece of real estate, facing the bay, the Coronado Bridge, and downtown San Diego. Dinner, Valentine's Day: VDay could be a big disaster but it went pretty smoothly. They had a 3-course prix fixe menu (plus an amuse & a glass of sparkling wine) as a special, or you could do their bar menu. Oscar was our server and he did a great job keeping us updated about how the kitchen was doing. Our drinks came pretty fast. I got a DAITIKI: cutwater tiki rum, lime juice, simple syrup & angostura bitters. I asked for it light on the simple - and it was a pretty impressive cocktail. Really well balanced, with a lot of different flavors going on. Yes & yes on this! Appetizers: I got their brussel sprouts with lime and honey glaze and marcona almonds. WOW! This was a wow dish. HUGE and fabulous brussel dish, for $16, with this view. Now I'm getting excited! We also got the guacamole which was good, though underseasoned. Entrees: my sweetie got one of the bowls (baja?) with carne asada added and liked it. I got a veggie burger - not yummy! Very weird patty, not tasty. However, the fries that came with it were good. SO... I had a great cocktail, a giant portion of exceptional brussel sprouts, and a bad veggie burger. Could be worse! Wine: I also got a glass of the JLohr Pure Paso red blend, which was very nice. Leathery but not too heavy. For dessert, Oscar advised us that we could order individual dishes from the prix fixe, and that dessert would be much faster if we ordered the Valentine's desserts instead of the desserts they usually serve. And yes, they came out immediately. Deconstructed strawberry shortcake. Flavors were good. Shortbread was a little dry, but very nicely seasoned. I liked the consistently of the chocolate mousse tulip, but found the tulip part (chocolate shell) very bland, not that interesting to eat too. Overall, some parts of our dinner were exceptional, the kitchen can be slow... and don't order the veggie patty! Otherwise this is a great place to come and enjoy our gorgeous city and have some yummy bites or drinks, and with very nice heaters. Thanks, Oscar and the team!

Food: We had a few options like always. I mean why not right! We started with * Tempura Rock Shrimp - this was crazy good. I did not expect the flavors to punch me in the mouth like it did. Crispy, light batter, the glaze and toppings really made it a phenomenal appetizer. I would highly recommend this dish. It is small in quantity but if feeds 2 people easily. * Crab Cakes - the crab cakes are good they do have a nice crispy texture on the outside but the inside is tender and packed with your normal Crab Cakes flavors. Not a bad choice. It was fresh and the portions are above average. * Balboa Rolll - somehow this roll with so many different flavors and textures went so well together. Cuddos to the chef for this one. The scallions on top changed the entire roll. I really loved this one. Would definitely order it again. Portion size was larger than the average roll. * Overstuffed Bacon & Eggs - this one was crazy!! It's literally a tower of deviled egg yoke with bacon, bits of celery and paprika on top. This was my least favorite only because the amount of yoke compared to the actual egg you get didn't add up. Once the egg is gone you're left with a mountain of egg yoke. It's way to much for my taste. The yoke also seemed a little dry and pasty. For deviled egg lovers this is a dream come true. * Skirt Steak & Eggs - wife said it was really good and the red chimichiri complimented the steak just right. The portions were large, the steak was juicy and cooked perfecrly to her request. With skillet fried smahed potatoes and toasted buttered bread. Very good option for steak lovers. Service: The staff was great from the check-in booth to the waiter everyone did such a great job and was so polite. I couldn't help notice that everyone was smiling and super helpful. This is a great team working at that restaurant. Bar tenders were on top of drinks which was nice to get your drink shortly after ordering. Atmosphere: It's an ocean side restaurant or should I say on the ocean restaurant with wall to wall windows showing the ocean and the beautiful San Diego landscape. Really enjoyed the area and activities. Price: The appitizers were above average prices but hey!! Totally worth it. It ranged from $16-$30 per dish, its really not too bad for the quality of food and service. Location: It's located in Seaport Village which has so many different places to try and plenty of businesses to walk and find some really cool things. Parking: It's a pay to park lot but we found parking fairly easy but it is pricey to park there. I think we paid $24 for a couple of hours.
