My fave spot for açaí bowls (Northside Shack) recently closed all of its locations so I've been looking for other fun and quick breakfast / açaí spots in my area. I recalled that the OB Surf Cafe was on Voltaire and headed over. I snagged a parking spot across the street and checked out the menu. They have lots of great breakfast selections and a wide-range of coffee drinks too. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I love the dog menu as well. Cali wasn't with me, but she would have loved a puppyccino.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is a great little outdoor seating area and some additional counter seating as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ended up ordering a breakfast burrito and an açaí bowl to go for M. and me to share. I waited about 10 minutes and then the food came out nicely packaged. The burrito was just the right size and the açaí had fresh strawberries, blueberries and bananas as promised in addition to the granola and the coconut flakes. Everything was delicious ( I forgot to take photos of the food- it looked so good though!) and I'll be back!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]OB Surf Cafe is a cool spot to pick up a coffee, tea, breakfast items, and smoothies, either to go or to enjoy the plentiful outside seating that is available.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I like the urban park-like setting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had a black iced tea and it was great. It came with just the right amount of ice and the black tea had a rich tea flavor. The service was super friendly and up beat. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The coffee shop is a trailer, just so you know, not that there is anything wrong with that.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It is easy to spot given that it is on the corner of Cable and Voltaire.

Staying for the weekend in OB and took a walk. Even though there are many shops to choose from we stopped at this outdoor cafe. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We loved the decor and decided to give this place a try.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It's now our second day in a row coming here for a delightful breakfast and delicious coffee drinks. I tried the toffee nut cold brew and my husband got the Matcha Latte The drinks were great! We also shared a breakfast sandwich. The sandwich came on an everything bagel with egg, bacon and cheese and a sauce that was just perfect and delicious with tots on the side. The customer service is wonderful. We were greeted with a delightful smile and serviced promptly..

Had the pleasure of having breakfast here this morning with my husband and doggy. We were so full from our order but we it was so delicious. The staff were so friendly and cleaned our table before we sat down. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was honestly such a relaxing morning.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We took our drinks to the beach and enjoyed the rest of our morning. I bought a dog hat there and loved it! I'll definitely be back next time we come back to SD.

Love love love! Classically OB food truck cafe with delicious food and friendly owners. I only just recently found this spot and I'm definitely adding it to my breakfast rotation when in OB. I had a large takeout order which was ready surprisingly quickly. They also happily accommodated a couple special requests which is always appreciated. I personally ordered the Croissant Breakfast Sandwich and it was seriously one of the best I've had in San Diego. You can just tell everything is just made with love. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They even have a small dog menu which earns them extra bonus points!![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's a small seating area out front and I found street parking easily.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Really enjoyed the vibes and will return.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Fair prices too.

Chicken egg burrito

My fiancé and I stopped by this café for the first time and were blown away. We tried the chicken egg burrito, breakfast burrito, iced tornado coffee with oat milk, and the toffee nut cold brew and every single item was a 10/10. The burritos were flavorful, perfectly wrapped, and super satisfying not greasy or heavy like you find at some spots. You can tell the ingredients are fresh and thoughtfully put together. The iced tornado coffee with oat milk was SO smooth and not overly sweet, just the right balance. And the toffee nut cold brew was rich, nutty, and refreshing. Both drinks were unique and delicious. Highly recommend this place for a tasty breakfast or coffee stop. We'll definitely be back!

Sitting on the corner at 4896 Voltaire St, I'm super surprised this place doesn't have more reviews. I came here on a Saturday morning and was one of only a handful of people here. There is plenty and I mean plenty of seating for people to come and hang out. There's no covering and no heaters so if the weather acts up, you're out of luck. It feels like a one person or two person operation so drinks and food could be a bit slow but the menu is so carefully thought of and complex that it's worth the wait. Can't speak of the food because I didn't order any but I got two drinks: 1. Toffee Nut Cold Brew 2. Tornado The toffee nut was surprisingly the better than I thought. But it took a while for me to like it. It was a slow burn for me. I'm not a toffee person but it was interesting enough for me to go and try it. The cream sits on top and so you're going to need to give it a good mix. I think it taste better the more the cream infuses with the coffee. So if you sip your coffee slow, you'll start to really enjoy it after 10 or so minutes. The tornado which has espresso, caramel, vanilla and hazelnut, chocolate and milk was the better of the two in my opinion. It could be because it was a chilly morning and this drink was hot. It was rich but not too sweet. The hazelnut which I'm again not a big fan of, was the perfect equalizer here with all the other flavors. I got this drink with alternative milk. There's also a pup friendly menu if you want to order something for your dog. They have an IG and a website if you want to follow them as well. Not sure if they have wifi available. Probably not if I had to guess. But there's a bar across the street and maybe they have wifi strong enough for you to connect. I wouldn't call this a place to do work but a solid spot to stop by before heading to the dog beach or to have a quick date.

You know how some places have yummy breakfast, but mediocre coffee, well this place is not it. Food and coffee are delicious--you won't have to compromise either. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Plenty of outdoor seating in the front and round back, which is totally family dog-friendly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Prices are reasonable especially given the friendly and attentive customer service we experienced. We ordered the breakfast burrito, chorizo burrito, croissant sandwich, and açaí bowl. To drink we ordered the house coffee, which I take black and was so smooth, my partner had the honey flat and loved it so much she ordered another, and my sister ordered the toffee nut cold brew. Everything was yummy!!!

Staying at an Airbnb around the corner and found this little gem through yelp. And boy I'm glad we did! The staff are just lovely especially the woman running it (i didn't catch her name). We ordered the iced salted caramel raf and the iced tornado. Both were amazing. I would go so far as to say the salted caramel latte was one of the best I've had ever. I know that's a bold statement and trust me i love my coffee! It's the perfect amount of sweet without tasting artificial. For food we got the friend chicken egg burrito and the avocado bagel with an added egg. Both were DELICIOUS! We scarfed our food down. It's an outside food truck and there are plenty of tables and chairs. Such a cute little spot for some yummy food and coffee!! It's a food truck and it's made from scratch so don't expect the food and coffee to be lightning fast. Patience is key! It's worth it. We will be back next time we are in OB and every time after that!

Fried chicken and egg burrito + side of spicy aioli

The fried chicken egg and burrito was 10/10, it was SO GOOOD and flavorful and tender. Also ordered a side of spicy aioli and it was scrumptious. The service was lovely too. Will definitely be coming back

This truck once operated out of the Del Mesa Liquor store lot but has since moved to a vacant lot on W Morena Blvd. This allows them to post up near the empty business with tables and chairs mostly underneath the building awning to offer shade. Plus, plenty of parking! The OG Fish Taco now at $4.25 is the obvious choice. It somehow comes with two battered fishes (each SO crunchy) along with fresh pico, cabbage, and white sauce. Despite its battered format, it is still mostly fish. Otherwise, the grilled fish taco is $6. Maybe slightly healthier and less heavy if that's what you're looking for. Their mariscos are something to celebrate as well. The tostada shrimp aguachile for $12.95 was beautifully presented. Upon first glance, it doesn't appear to have much shrimp, but hidden underneath the multitude of fresh cut fruit and avocado was a treasure trove of raw shrimp. This one was a bit harder to eat but they thoughtfully give you another chip underneath to use as your vessel for consumption. It's all so, so messy, but the truck has a wash station to clean up your hands afterward. Oh, did I forget the complimentary seafood consommé gifted to you as you wait?? Simply the best! Somehow, Kiko's is still legit despite a potential dilution of operations across the other truck and the new brick and mortar. Definitely a preferred location for easy access, top quality mariscos, sit down table availability, and early morning grub session (open as early as 9:30am).

Ironically, the OG fish taco ended up being the winner--crispy, flavorful, and delicious even without adding any sauce. The fish ceviche was good, but I personally prefer Oscar's style since I like my fish thinly sliced rather than chopped. Presentation was nice with the orchid and beautifully fanned avocado, but it felt a bit overdone for food truck-style ceviche. I'd rather have a little more seafood than a flower. The octopus ceviche was surprisingly good though--tender and served in huge chunks. I was a little surprised that the octopus + shrimp combo costs more than ordering the octopus and shrimp individually. I expected either a larger portion or better value, but that didn't seem to be the case. Another disappointment was the Sunday daily special. It advertised $1.50 oysters, but I only found out there was a minimum order of six after asking, so I ended up skipping them. Read that they're featured on Netflix Taco Chronicles so I'm definitely gonna be watching it soon

Simply put, the food here is amazing. On the Bonehead Burger, their primary offering, the meat is smashed perfectly, giving it a delicious crust that is crispy on the edges and still juicy throughout. The sauce on it is well balanced, a great mix of sweet, salty, and lightly spiced flavors that they add just enough of to expertly avoid making things too messy or drowning out all other flavors and textures. All of the fixings added give it a nice, overall crunch where you can still taste the tang of the pickles or the slightly sweet and acidic tomatoes. And it's all topped off by that Maple Bacon and those Crispy Onions. And if that sounds good, but you don't want a full burger, you can get all of those toppings on a tub of well-cooked seasoned French fries instead. I have eaten here a half a dozen times at both their brick and mortar sites in Old Town, as well as this truck, and the food has always been at that same perfect level. I have never been disappointed in any meal I've had here and I find myself going to my daughter's school functions excited at the slightest possibility that the Bonehead Food Truck might be there catering. If you're a lover of good burgers, you need to have Bonehead on your list of ones to try. If you're in San Diego, stop by their physical site. And if you're lucky enough to see this truck pop up somewhere, ignore all other trucks and see what Bonehead has to offer.

Devilicious is a San Diego-based food truck and a long-time participant in the twice-yearly Great American Foodie Fest in Las Vegas. I must've tried them last time because I found a picture of the duck confit grilled cheese. Whether I was slacking on reviews/photo uploads that weekend or I intentionally avoided doing the review, that sandwich clearly wasn't memorable. But I tried them again because of the relative lack of out-of-town newcomers, and I wasn't disappointed this time. My choice was the Cali Pork Belly Burrito ($11, at least for this event), their version of the San Diego local favorite California burrito. It's a burrito with french fries inside, and the first one I ever tried was fantastic. This rendition is an even larger departure from its Mexican inspirations, with the salsa verde and perhaps the crema being the only Mexican flavors discernible. However, it was still a filling treat because of the delicious, not-too-chewy pork belly that's cut into large chunks. The potato were pretty good too. My only issue was that one half of my burrito had zero meat when I got to the bottom; fortunately, I still had the other half still to eat. The Cali burrito seems to be a newer menu item, and I hope it stays on. And I hope that Devilicious keeps coming back so that I can work my way through the rest of their menu, including their popular lobster grilled cheese.

I was still feeling hungry afterwards, but I didn't feel like paying another $9, nor $4 for fries...the motto is "Food is so good its bad"...the food is good, but the portion/price ratio is very bad. But to be honest, its probably enough of food for a sorority girl, a child, or a midget, but not for a grown 6ft-2inch 190lb male. As with all food trucks: No free water, no place to sit, no bathroom, nowhere to wash your hands, etc...it also doesn't help that I know of a little place in Clairemont that serves a bigger Cubano sandwich and with fries or a salad for only $5.95.
