Customer service is a 5 from the moment we walked in to ordering to leaving. So polite and very welcoming, the place is small so it has limited seating with a couple tables out front. Parking is available in the back or side street right in front of the cafe. Ordered the Cliffs Breakfast Sandwhich and the Avocado Toast, both were very filling and delicious. The avocado and toast for $9.25 was a bit much for me and adding the egg and pesto for $5-6 more didn't help much either. Sadly I did not enjoy what I ordered at Cliffs Cafe. I ordered a zucchini walnut muffin and a lightly sweetened vanilla oat milk latte and both items tasted horrible. The latte was overly sweet and I could barely taste the coffee in it. It tasted like it was hot vanilla milk instead of a latte and when my husband tasted it, he agreed that it didn't taste the way it should. Sadly I had to throw the drink away and bought a cappuccino that tasted a bit better. Then the muffin given to me was hot when I didn't ask for it hot. And microwaving the muffin changed the texture which made the muffin rubbery and taste bad. I only ate half of it and threw away the rest. I really think what's actually missing from Cliffs Cafe is attention to detail when making coffee and preparing foods. I hate to say it but the whole vibe here felt like I was eating food from a gas station which I'm pretty sure nobody wants. If you're in the Ocean Beach area I highly recommend skipping Cliffs Cafe and going somewhere else. read more

Went down to San Diego for a long weekend and had the pleasure of eating here twice. First night in we were tired and just wanted something quick and easy through door dash. Husband got a breakfast burrito, I got chilaquiles, and my son got French toast. It was all delicious. We decided to go back a couple days later and ate there. Everything was great again. The location is more a pop in sort of place, so don't expect a full service restaurant experience. All food is served to go but you can sit down and eat with utensils and water available to grab. (Scrambled eggs, bacon, corn beef hash, sausage, onions, roasted potatoes, fire roasted chilies, and cheddar cheese.) Tasted super meaty and the eggs and potatoes were cooked just right. This is one of the cutest and chillest cafes I've visited in San Diego. It's pretty tiny, no more than 20 people can fit inside. There's a handful of tables outside for sitting as well. The staff was fast and bubbly which is always a plus. The drink menu was dope. The speciality drinks and blended drinks seemed complex and you can't go wrong with any option. It all seemed super thoughtful. There's also frapples, smoothies, and your regular drips and lattes if you want something a bit more simple. Large menu for food but the food was a bit better than average in my opinion. Wouldn't run back to get food here but wouldn't be opposed. Basically.. it didn't blow my mind. We went with the: Greek Omelet Breakfast which consist of feta, spinach, bell peppers, tomatoes and oregano. Served with your choice of fruit, potatoes or hashbrowns and toast. Cliff's Delight which cosist of scrambled eggs, sun dried tomato, avocado, fresh basil, and goat cheese on pita bread. The omlete was the better of the two. The sandwich didn't smack and wasn't really filling. But it tasted super fresh and light. The menu in general has a lot of healthy options. We visited this location after running along the cliffs. There was a lot of options to choose from and we were there around 9 and there was limited seating. Fortunately there was enough space for 4. The menu has a lot of options and we went with omelet and acai bowl. The build your own omelette was helpful as I got to choose what I wanted and it was delicious. The acai bowl on the other hand was good but it was more watery than most acai bowls we've had. The water station has these really small cups that you can use more than once but a funny feeling as it is already wet. The decor gave the location a cafe vibe and the service was nice and helpful. Their register does seem a bit older there were some specific modifications that they could not do because the register system did not allow it. Overall we enjoyed our time. read more

So many breakfast choices! We're visiting the area from Northern California and we chose this spot because it's cafe style. We wanted to sit, take our time and plan our day. We started with some cold brews and looked over the menu. It took me a long time to decide from all of the breakfast options. Open faced bagel sandwich? Pancakes? Veggie Scramble? At the last minute I chose Chilaquiles. It was delicious. The woman at the register was friendly, helpful and oh so patient while I tried to make up my mind. The cafe has a friendly vibe with snacks for sale and a cold case with "to go" drinks. There's limited seating, but there are some outside tables too, but of the patrons seemed to be picking up take out orders. We're definitely going back for some pancakes before leaving town. Edit: Went back for pancakes that did not disappoint. The same nice woman at the counter who remembered that I prefer to keep my receipts. The food was good, cooked just right; however, not so flavorful. The Greek Sandwhich is a warmed pita bread with a scrambled eggs, spinach and a little bit of feta cheese. The avocado toast was just that (toast w/avocado) which was fine but again, not so flavorful. The Honey latte was delicious as well as the strawberry smoothie. Overall, I would give it a 4.5 because the food was a bit bland. On the upside of that, you can add as much or as little salt/pepper as you like. A quick breakfast during my morning walk in OB on vacation last week. I ordered the chilaquiles with fried eggs. Green sauce was tangy, cheese was feta not queso fresca but avocado was plentiful. I should have ordered the eggs more done, and hold the sour cream but this was a pretty great dish at a reasonable price.
