We ordered flat white, drip coffee, bread with almond butter, strawberry and banana and calzone. We enjoyed everything! Nice staff in a cute neighborhood.

Cinnamon cold foam cold brew (fall special)

This place is a cute new coffee shop tucked away in the school zone section of OB. I came here on a Sunday after pickleball and needed caffeine and food. I got a cold brew with cinnamon cold foam and it hit the spot. Their main food/ signature seemed to be their toasts so we tried two: Avocado toast - a bit pricey but the bread was amazing and the eggs were excellent! They had cool golden utensils to make it a bit easier to eat. Egg salad toast - this was recommended and I see why! A very comforting balance of savory and fresh flavor, not too heavy not too light. A few people working on their laptops and a few tables outside as well, a very chill spot.

While departing the OB neighborhood on a couple of occasions earlier this summer, I noticed Sine Wave Cafe which was located on the same block of Santa Monica Ave as the US Post Office. The cafe occupied a middle suite between a smoke shop to its left and a psychic to its right. Diagonal parking spaces were available up and down both sides of the street. Countertop seating was on the right side while several tables were set up on the left side if you wanted to hang out. There were also two outdoor tables on the front patio. During the time of my visit, the menu consisted of calzones, oats, and toast for food. Coffee and tea were the primary beverages. It was near closing so I ordered a Breakfast Calzone and a Matcha Latte. Egg, spinach, mushroom, and mozzarella made up the filling inside the pastry. A small cup of tomato jam was provided on the side for dipping. The latte was served cold with ice. The calzone was rather small for the $5 price. The kitchen initially underheated the product and took it back from me for another round in the oven. As compensation for the trouble, they offered a complimentary brown butter chocolate chip cookie which was a nice gesture. The cookie tasted better than the calzone, perhaps because of my sweet tooth. The green colored drink was fairly standard and had a good amount of matcha flavor.

This is a terrific locally owned coffeeshop. The shop has a lot of good stuff to offer. I had an iced coffee with milk and a couple of their breakfast calzones: one with bacon on and eggs and the other with veggies and eggs. You can get a regular coffee and two small calzones for $10. The iced coffee was great. The coffee offered a great medium coffee flavor and was smooth and rich. The calzone are made in house by the owner. I like that they are crispy in nature and filled nicely with their tasty filling. I enjoyed both of them, but I was most fond of the bacon and eggs given the savory flavor. Make sure you try their tomato jam. It goes very well with these little calzones. The service was very friendly and welcoming. They offer inside and outside seating. They also over baked goods and a variety of different toasts.

Cute place, really good matcha, really good homemade banana bread that the sweet barista heated up for me! I WFH here and met a few other employees along with the owner, they are all very sweet and seem down to Earth - very chill granola vibes I love it I'll be back

The Elvis [and a coconut mocha].

I went to this coffee shop on a nice, sunny day and ordered a Coconut Mocha and "The Elvis." Everything was good and I was happy to drink from their dishes- I like when cafes provide those. The service was friendly and the cashier didn't rush me since I undecided. She allowed me to take my time. The ambiance was quiet and calm. There were only a couple of people inside working.

We ate here twice while staying in OB for a staycation, and I can't wait to drive back down to not only eat here again, but sit and soak in the chill vibe. It felt like home the second we walked in, and they remembered us when we came in the next day. I've already tried to replicate the toasted coconut cappuccino at home, but I just can't do it. The toast with tomato jelly was a suggestion that was not on the menu, and I've been craving that ever since as well. Every ingredient was so fresh! The food was made with such care and attention to detail! May you be mobbed every day of the week, Sine Cafe! See you again soon!

Leaving this review months later, but I still think about visiting again! Went on two different occasions and service was great both times. Barista was very patient while I made my decision and my drink was out quickly. The inside is well designed and you can tell a lot of thought went into it, down to the fresh flowers at every table. Quality drinks and food that I wouldn't hesitate recommending.

Breakfast Bacon Calzone with Tomato Jam

Really cute new coffee shop in OB! Has a ton of seating inside for working remotely. Service was so great and they even gave my friend a free coffee that they were testing out recipes for! I was excited to see the breakfast bacon calzone on the menu because I'm always looking for unique food items at coffee shops to fuel me while I'm working. You could taste the herbs in the crust and the tomato jam on the side was such a fun, different sauce choice to pair it with. Definitely recommend if you're in the OB area!

Came in to study while my friends did some work on a Friday morning. Maybe the best playlist i've ever heard in a coffee shop, super cute and classic decor, very good coffee and great service. I didn't get food but my friend got a calzone and loved it, and the food that the people next to us were having looked delicious, the banana bread in particular smelling amazing. I didn't get the baristas name but he was super friendly and even offered me a complimentary coconut coffee drink that they were workshopping as I was about to leave and it was delicious. I hope this place becomes a local staple, I will absolutely be back.

I LOVE this new spot in OB and it's definitely worth checking out if you're looking for a cute cafe. I came in on a Friday morning to get some work done and there was plenty of open seating inside! I got an iced latte with oat milk and honey which was reasonably priced and my friend got their breakfast calzone which was only $5 and the perfect snack. We stayed for around 2 hours and got some work done and I will definitely be returning. I loved the playlist they had on and the employees were super nice and seemed excited about their new spot. They've only been open for about a month so it still felt like a hidden gem, but I'm sure they won't stay secret for long!

There was a transition of servers (not sure if he left for the day or went on lunch) and the new server would check on everyone at the bar except us. My water remained empty for most of the meal. The bartenders in front of us were clearly having a conversation and I didn't want to interrupt. My friend claimed her Irish coffee was sour? And didn't realize cheese came on a side of eggs (she should've checked when she ordered but the server never clarified either). We weren't checked on during the meal until the bill came and by then we just wanted to leave. I ordered the fluffy pancakes and found an egg shell inside. The cracking of eggshells in my mouth made me loose my appetite. We paid (still tipped of course) and left. It was great the first time and mediocre the second time. I prefer consistently in service, especially if I'm waiting an hour to be seated.

We had spent most of the day around Bankers Hill and decided to grab an early dinner at Books & Records. Getting reservations was easy, but from the moment we walked in, the ambiance alone already had us sold. The place was still pretty quiet when we arrived, and to our surprise it was happy hour, so naturally we ordered a bunch of items off the menu along with drinks. Everything was ridiculously good. Not one miss. What really stood out though was the attention to detail. The host brought us a complimentary glass of champagne after hearing we were celebrating our anniversary. Small gesture, big impact. Stuff like that matters. As the night went on, the restaurant filled up, live music started playing, and the whole atmosphere just came alive. Our waiter never rushed us once, which made the experience feel even more intentional and relaxed. We were able to actually enjoy the moment instead of feeling pushed through dinner service. Good food is one thing. Great hospitality is another. This place gave us both. Next time we're in San Diego, we're absolutely making it a point to come back. Lovely spot. Lovely experience.

Cramped and loud, but nicely decorated and serving solid authentic meals. Mexican Latte-9/10: Pretty straightforward. A solid, nostalgic spiced coffee. Mazapan Latte-10/10: A novelty menu item, both nostalgic and tasty. With a sweetened condensed milk rim and mazapan dust, this sweet coffee is a must order. Chilaquiles-10/10: Cocina 35 knows how to throw down the best Mexican breakfast item: the chilaquiles. The Verde was good but didn't pack much heat. The Salsa Secreta was our favorite; a creamy 3-chile salsa with an artichoke flavor, this one packs an enjoyable amount of heat. The Chipotle was another yummy and creamy option, making your nose run but still very enjoyable. Frijoles Puercos-7/10: They were pretty standard. I've definitely had better. They served their purpose as a good side. Concha Rellena-7.5/10: Another creative menu item. Whipped cream and whole strawberries sandwiched between two french toast-style concha halves and drenched in cajeta. It was sweet and warm, but would've been more enjoyable with fresher and/or sliced strawberries. Fun to order, but a regular concha is better suited for enjoying with your coffee. Service-6/10: Again, Cocina 35 gets packed, so service isn't as attentive. Our party had to order and wait for water, ask for refills, call the server over for more orders and again for the bill, and wouldn't speak to us in Spanish. I witnessed other tables be spoken to in Spanish, but upon ordering I'd only be responded to in English. I know I'm a white Mexican, but native tongue is nice when I make it clear I'd like to order in Spanish. Overall, a fun spot with solid menu items. The samplers are pricey but probably the best bang for your buck. They do the classics very well, and are very much worth your visit!
