Their coffee was strong and had great flavor options. You can change the milk type as needed with no additional charge. Half and half and heavy cream do cost an additional $0.75. I had the Lavender Dolce and it definitely had the lavender flavor without being bitter and the coffee also came through strongly. The staff were friendly and worked fast. Quaint bean slingers nestled next to Newtopia in a Scripps Ranch business park. Top quality coffee and teas at reasonable prices, friendly staff and indoor and outdoor seating. At max, this place can probably seat 30 (maybe 40) people. It's charming, clean and was outright hopping the day that I went; probably a line 8 people deep. I thoroughly enjoyed my cold brew and bonus points for no upcharge on alternative milks. High marks. Would go account for sure. read more

This is a very nice coffee shop. It used to be "Hendrix" but has recently been taken over by a local named Andy. His years of barista experience finally landed him here with his own small business. During my visit, I enjoyed a cortado and a guava danish from Bread & Cie. The cortado was well made by the barista. It was smooth up front, with rich coffee flavor, and with a touch of tang towards the end. It was a good cortado. The Danish was pretty good, too. It did need to be warmed up a little bit more, however. It was a tasty danish. The service was chill and super friendly. They offer a good amount of inside and outside seating. Nice to have another locally owned coffee shop in the area again. Really unique coffee drinks and a nice space to work from home or meet a friend. It had been a long time since my husband and I stopped by this spot, back when it was under a different name before the remodel. Coming back and seeing the refreshed space felt like rediscovering an old favorite. The highlight right away was running into the owner Andy, who actually remembered us! That kind of personal touch is rare these days. He's clearly the kind of owner who takes the time to know his regulars and build community around the shop. We decided to share one of their specialty drinks, the seasonal Bailey Coffee. At first sip it tasted mostly like a standard coffee, but then I realized all the flavor had settled toward the bottom. After giving it a quick mix... It was so bomb. Smooth, flavorful, and just the right amount of indulgent without being over the top. One thing I especially appreciate here is that they don't charge extra for alternative milks. I opted for macadamia nut milk, which was really nice and brought the whole drink together. The coffee also came out pretty quickly, which gave me a little time to chat with another customer who told me she comes here specifically to buy their coffee beans. She kept raving about them, which honestly just reinforced the feeling that this place really takes their coffee seriously. They've got both indoor and outdoor seating, and I personally love the outdoor area: it's a great spot to relax, do work, and enjoy your drink. All in all, it was such a pleasant return visit. I came to this coffee shop before when it was a different name under a different owner but now it's completely remodeled and doesn't even look the same. Inside is a little smaller than the other shop and has some indoor seats but a lot of nice outdoor seating. They have some pastries and cold drinks available for purchase in the front and they have their own beans. They have a list of house specialties but you can also make your own drink with whatever syrups you desire. I love that they offer alternative milks without an extra charge. I got an iced brown butterscotch which had toffee nut and caramel. I asked for almond milk and it was so creamy which I don't always get with almond milk. It was a bit on the sweeter side for me but still very delicious and silky with a good coffee flavor. I might ask for a less sweet drink the next time I go. The staff were all so laid back and friendly. They were really helpful and even offered to make a new coffee for another customer because it wasn't hot enough for her liking. They also gave me a discount for being a healthcare worker! I think they offer them for military, teachers, and healthcare. I really enjoyed the vibes of this place. It's a perfect shop to hang out at on a nice day but I can see it getting pretty crowded at times. I'll definitely be back to try some more specialties! read more

I randomly stopped into Arc & Kin for the first time and immediately knew I'd be back. It's this adorable little polar bear-themed coffee shop near Hunters & Hendrix (by Newtopia Cider) and the whole vibe is just... so cute. Cozy :-) I ordered the salted maple latte and I'm genuinely not being hyperbolic when I say it might be one of the best lattes I've ever had. It was perfectly balanced; not overly sweet, super smooth, and just comforting in the best way. I kept taking sips and being like "wait this is REALLY good." I also got an apple cinnamon muffin and it was so fresh and flavorful. They have a little patio which makes it even better, and overall it just feels good supporting a local San Diego spot that clearly cares. I've run into him a few times before the switch and he told me a new spot would be coming toward end of Dec 2025. I finally caught up with this place passing by for work and the interior looks slightly different with different furniture. The shop itself has a new logo. The cold brew I usually order tastes the same quality . The pastry selection is still great and I believe it comes from Bread and Cie. I'm in the Miramar area pretty often and will try to come in here for a coffee and a pastry. Doing my part in supporting small business especially good ones. read more

I tried the nonfat, sugar-free vanilla latte and learned that it comes with four shots by default. I don't normally need that much espresso, but I tried it and it had a really good flavor! I also tried a bite of the warmed chocolate chip banana bread which was also great. My wife had a lavender steamer and loved it. We'll definitely be back. read more

Really like this coffee shop and the new branding . Super cute. (This location has changed ownership and was previously known as Hendricks. They reopened about mid-December 2025) The owner, Andy, is super cool and kind and always takes that extra time to get to know his customers. I always get a latte with one of the alternative milks either macadamia, pistachio or oat milk and no sugar or sweetener. The espresso beans they get roasted is unique (Brazilian beans I believe), and it comes out mellow, and just pleasant to drink. I also get 3-4 shots in their medium sized so technically the espresso to milk ratio is more of a flat white and therefore I can taste the espresso and it isn't drowned in milk. I had the pleasure of visiting Arc & Kin this past weekend. The space had a very welcoming ambience with generous indoor and outdoor seating. The coffee and pastry I had were both delicious; I had a chocolate croissant as well as a 24oz. iced salted maple with 4 espresso shots that was recommended to me by Bradley, who was very affable and friendly. The proprietor Andy was around and was incredibly gracious and welcoming; one could tell that this place is truly a labor of love for him. Stopped by Arc & Kin for the first time today and was seriously impressed. The owner, Andy, was incredibly friendly and has created such a warm, welcoming environment. You can tell this is a true neighborhood spot--he knew several customers by name and chatted with them like friends and family, which says a lot about the kind of place this is.
