The gentleman at the front (wish I caught his name) did a phenomenal job and made sure everything was perfect. It may seem like "just a boba place," but the service alone will make you go out of your way to come back. The vibe is also a huge plus--modern, chill, upbeat music, TVs playing sports, and even a game machine. As for the drinks, the flavors are genius. The best place for avocado shakes. They share the lot of hobby lobby so there are plenty of parking spaces available. The store is always clean and the staff are friendly. The only thing I have gotten here has been their avocado shake though. But I t is just perfect: super smooth, sweet, and freshly avocado-y! Has this bubble tea shop really been open under the same name and ownership for nearly 20 years? Bobalicious is tucked away in a narrow suite in the Village at Mira Mesa. I remember visiting this spot years ago, and I don't recall sugar cane drinks being part of the menu. Fresh cane stalks were on display at the service counter. Three menu screens listed the offerings... milk teas, slushies/smoothies, coffee, fruit teas, and two categories of special drinks. Oh, fries and popcorn chicken were available as token savory snacks. Between a banner posted next to the entrance and the presence of the sugar cane at the counter, I ordered a regular size CocoCane Juice which was coconut flavored sugar cane juice. The cost was $6.50, however if you wanted less ice, there was a $0.50 surcharge because more stalks would need to be extracted for additional liquid to compensate for the reduced ice level. The coconut taste wasn't as strong as I had expected, but the natural sweetness of the sugar cane was prominent. Several small tables were available for inside seating along with a couple out front on the sidewalk. I found the ambiance to be sterile, almost industrial, compared to the newer shops which proliferate every month in the SD area. Overall, I gave a 3.5 star rating for my drink and visit to Bobalicious. read more

My friend got the avocado smoothie, and said that the texture was not what she had wanted. Also, the table was very sticky so it didn't make for a pleasant experience. It lacked the creaminess and freshness I expected and instead tasted bland and watered down. Both smoothies felt like I was drinking flavored ice, rather than an actual smoothie. One such adventure brought me to Bobalicious off Mira Mesa Blvd. A smaller shop located in a busy shopping center right next to several eateries and a target, but still had plenty of variety for anyone stopping by. There was ample seating through the store front, and all our drinks were served fairly quickly from ordering. I debated between the sugar cane drinks or my go to milk tea. Unfortunately I should have gone with the sugar cane option since they were out of matcha the day I went. The Thai tea I ordered was still delicious none the less. read more

This place was a real disappointment. I was craving milk tea and this place was close by my home. I was surprised to see a promo for Milk Tea Mondays (free upgrade on milk tea drinks) and ordered the Oolong milk tea at 50% sweet w/ boba. Drink cost around $6.25. When the drink was given to me, it looked extremely diluted. It was pale, which you can pretty much assume there is more milk than tea in the drink. The boba was ok, it wasn't hard, but wasn't extremely soft and chewy either, and seemed like it was soaked in brown sugar so it had some flavor to it. But the drink was not bobalicious at all. When I got home, it felt like I was drinking water, with milk, and pumps of sugar. Zero tea flavor. And lots of ice in the cup to further dilute the already tasteless drink. I won't be back and don't recommend this place. Got the same drink without boba for my sis, and she agrees it just tastes like sugar. How sad. read more

The best way I can describe it is if you've ever had the Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate at Ghirardelli's in California Adventure IYKYK. One of the best taro smoothie boba I've ever had! Ordering was simple, you could order through the ipad in front or with an employee but in this case I think she was by herself because she was in the back making the drinks but she checked in to ask if we were okay to order through the ipad. I'm updating my review not because anyone told me to or was contacted but because I gave them a try again after my terrible experience and ever since coming back, I haven't seen the rude girl or ever had a bad experience with their customer service. If anything, it has been the complete opposite and my visits were welcoming and great! Multiple times I've come back and the different guys who helped me were very nice and helpful. I can't speak on their drinks besides the viet coffee (which is delicious with the salt cream on top) but I always see fresh fruit or sugarcane for use in their drinks. I ordered the pineapple colada with no toppings. It tasted just like a pina colada, a delicious coconut flavor and so good. My niece ordered the mango drink with boba.
