Always wanting that Thai tea! We were in the area and decided to give Sunright Tea a try. Not a large shop, they had customers consistently come in but we didn't have to wait long for our order. Upon entering, staff are actively making drinks in the background and the counter has a sign to place an order at the kiosk. Two large monitors sit on the wall, you can easily place your order. We ordered the Thai milk tea (no boba). Only one size available, all drinks are made in a 22 oz cup. We got our drink with the recommended sweetness of 100% which was the perfect amount. I tend to like less sweet, but it worked well. It was well blended, not too sweet or have an overwhelming black tea taste. The best part, the straw actually fits! Out of all the Boba places in the CMR/PQ area, this one is one of the better quality ones. They do have a good variety. However, parking is terrible unless you come during the day. The service is extremely slow during the late afternoon & evening times. They could've picked a better location though for the store. This area is not really a joy to drive to. read more

The place seemed understaffed for the level of business. I did have to wait quite a bit for my drink. All the standard customizations are available for drinks. You can pick sweetness level, addons, ice levels and more. They have all the normal drinks like milk tea and stuff. They also have a good selection of seasonal teas. I can't believe that there is a Sunright Tea Studio here in San Diego! I was so excited to try! The store itself is tucked in a quiet shopping center with ample parking, so that's always a plus! It's very small inside, with some benches along the wall, but there are no tables. It's kind of a bummer because I love looking for boba shops where you can hang out with friends or study. But the way this store is configured, it's more of a grab-and-go type of establishment. You order yourself on one of two giant screen tablets. I came on a Saturday evening, and there was a short line but nothing crazy. Our drinks came out very quickly considering the queue of people. I ordered the mango jasmine tea, and my friend got the matcha frostie I believe. Even though I ordered mine at 25% sweetness, it was still very sweet, so I'm glad I adjusted it. My friend's drink was delicious and creamy--I think I have to come back and try this one! Overall, I really liked my experience at Sunright. They have many locations throughout northern and Southern California as well as Nevada, Texas and Washington. I got the special matcha milk tea with pistachio cheese foam and a Jasmine cheese with honey boba. You're supposed to shake it 17 times. I really liked the matcha and cheese foam pistachio flavor. There were bits of pistachio on there too. The jasmine cheese was good. The honey boba was on the chewy side but not too bad. The ambiance was bright and nice but the space is limited. The teas here are so well crafted and balanced, it's addicting! I got the Ceylon Milk Tea w/Oat and I can't think of any other place that offers Ceylon tea! It was new and refreshing for me, and my husband got the Four Seasons Latte. The cafe was cute and the cups are absolutely adorable! Workers are super sweet and they made our drinks in less than 5 minutes :) It is recommended to shake the drinks at least a dozen times to fully incorporate the yummy tea and the chosen milk to get the ideal consistency. I've been to many Sunright Tea locations and since this location is new I wanted to see how it is. This is definitely less crowded than other ones I've been to. You order through the kiosk and they will call your name out once your order is ready. I ordered the Matcha Oolong Milk Tea ($5.95) with Oat Milk (50 or 75 cents additional, I forgot), less sugar and less ice. The boba and drinks has been pretty consistent throughout all the locations that I've been to. Sunright has been my go-to spot for boba since it's in a convenient location, so I get it pretty often. Our drinks came out pretty quickly and they also offer bags to hold multiple drinks in. There are only a few tables along the wall but most people just order their drinks and take them to go. Overall a solid place for boba, especially if you live closer to this area rather than having to drive all the way to Convoy. read more

Sunright is probably one of the only few boba shops I'll order a fruit tea from. They have their fruit tea and milk tea game down right. I used to go to the Sunnyvale location often when I lived up North. Was so sad when I moved to SD and they didn't have one here. BUT THEN, Boba gods came through and the Rancho Peñasquitos location opened. It's a nice location, kinda secluded plaza with nothing else of interest (to me at least). LOL - a 14 Mile Drive for just tea and back, yet it's worth the drive cause the tea is good. And it has been worth it every other time I've been. You go in, order at the kiosk, wait a bit, the bobaristas give you your drink. Plain and simple. There's seats to wait at but no tables and chairs to lounge around at, which is nice in my opinion - keeps the traffic flowing (in store and out in the parking lot). Got the Grapefruit Jasmine Tea with Agar Boba 75% (I think) sugar, Less Ice. Honestly was really good. Grapefruit wasn't bitter, the tea flavor was there and fragrant, grapefruit pulp was fun to chew on along with the agar boba. If you're stuck, just let the staff know and they'll help you, as they helped me when I was struggling with the gift card portion lol. Also, no option to order any other customization outside of the order menu and set alternative. You have to book at the kiosk or order online, which I highly recommend because this spot has gotten more popular. Another popular chain boba tea shop in the LA/OC area has made its way south into San Diego County. The first location of Sunright Tea Studio is in a suite at the Plaza Rancho Penasquitos. It's quite far away from me, but after hearing about the recent soft opening, I visited last weekend. The plaza parking lot was pretty full when I arrived shortly after the opening time. The current operating hours were limited from 12 to 5 pm daily until the grand opening which might occur by the end of this month. There was no inside seating, and orders could only be placed using one of the two tablets at a station to the left of the service counter. The queue was growing when I left the store because there was no menu screen or laminated sheets to look at the choices before you reached one of the tablets. Consequently, it took each customer extra time to scroll through the pages on the tablet to view the offerings if you did not scan the website from your phone while waiting in line. I hope this changes as it is an easy area of improvement to provide menus for customers to preview. There was an Iced Drinks Menu and a Hot Drinks Menu. The Iced Drinks Menu contained these categories... New Items, Customer Favorites, Milk Tea, Fruit Tea, Sunright Brown Sugar Boba Milk, Cheese Foam, Frosties, Original Tea, Brulee Latte with Oat Milk, Kid's Menu, Coffee, and Half Gallon. Hot Brown Sugar Boba Milk, Hot Milk Tea, Hot Original Tea, and Hot Coffee were the categories for the Hot Drinks Menu. Over a dozen topping choices were available for a surcharge of either $0.75 or $1 each. Three types of boba pearls were offered... agar, honey, and regular brown sugar. I chose two Fruit Teas for my order, a Mango Jasmine Tea and a Sunright Fruit Tea. Each was modified with less ice but kept at 100% sweetness as recommended. Regular brown sugar boba was added to the Mango Jasmine Tea, and honey boba was added to the Sunright Fruit Tea. Fresh mango was blended with jasmine green tea for the first drink while the signature fruit tea was made with four seasons tea, freshly squeezed orange juice, and passionfruit. Lemon and orange slices were included. I didn't notice the recommendation of shaking your drink 17 times to blend the flavors and savor the moment as done at the other locations. What I tasted with both drinks were the best fruit teas I have experienced in SD. The amount of sweetness and ratio of fruits used were perfect. The ordering process was why I lowered my rating. After the staff becomes more familiar with preparing the teas, there needs to be a full-time cashier taking orders in parallel with those placed using the tablets. That is the only way to improve the upfront efficiency at this new Sunright Tea Studio store. read more

This place has one of my favorite drinks: Sunright Fruit Tea (four seasons tea, orange juice, passionfruit, lemon and orange slices) with lychee jelly. I love how refreshing this drink is. I've also tried a variety of other drinks from here such as the seasonal Peach Milk Tea (peach puree and jasmine milk tea). If you ever want to skip the line, you can always order online at their website. The service is always so quick, and they have always had my online order ready before I get there. And if there were, it wouldn't really be a spot for studying because of how small the space is. Also, orders are done through the kiosks and not at the front counter. I saw one of the workers turn people away from ordering up there. When ready, drinks are picked up from the back. And they came out really fast! Less than 5 minutes. Strawberry Frostie: A strawberry smoothie with cheese foam mixed in to give it a creamy texture. I've had this before and some locations make this a bit too tart but I enjoyed the one from here! It's sweet and there's pieces of real strawberries too. I did notice when they were making the drink, the worker made an excess and ended up tossing the rest, which is such a waste. As a 626 girl living in SD now I am SO excited that I don't have to wait to go home for my Sunright fix now!! Nothing in SD compares to boba at home, and now we have a taste of that here. We went during their first weekend and came around 30 minutes before closing, and I was surprised (and delighted) to see that the line wasn't too long. You easily can order at their kiosks by the entry and the drinks were ready within minutes. There are no seats inside though so everyone was just standing against the wall. And even though they were busy and it was one of their first days open, it did not miss. My drink was made just how I like it and the boba texture was perfect (as always).
