We love the HeyTea at Westfield UTC, so we were really surprised that we didn't know they had a branch at Del Mar. The place was bright and inviting, but much smaller than the UTC branch. This was more like an order and pick up location--although there are tables and chairs outside. I chose to get one of their seasonal drinks this time, the Jasmine Strawberries & Cream--it was really good and I enjoyed it a lot, it had a hint of tartness from the strawberry, but you can still taste the jasmine tea. We also ordered a Supreme Brown Sugar Bobo Milk Tea and a Black Milk Tea with boba. The drinks were fine, but the boba wasn't--it was like they were old or sat out for too long as they all got stuck together, which made drinking very difficult and unpleasant. We've always been a fan of HeyTea and they never disappoint, so hopefully this might've just been an off day for them. We'll give this branch another shot when we're around the area and see.

Their fruit based blended drinks are a cult fav! This particular location isn't the busiest. You can expect to order and get your drink in a very reasonable time frame. On this particular visit, I got their new King Jasmine Guava. While it wasn't bad, this drink wasn't exactly my cup of (hey)tea. It essentially tastes like a guava milk tea. I think I prefer to keep my fruit flavors and milk tea flavors separate...

Heytea in Del Mar Highlands took over the space that once belonged to Happy Lemon. I ordered the supreme brown sugar boba milk tea. It was good, not sweet at all, and quite creamy. I didn't adjust anything and thought it lacked enough ice which is something I thought I'd never say. Their coconut mango drink, guava drink, and grape crisp were enticing but I wanted to compare their brown sugar to other shops. They're still putting things together but the interior is sleek and grey and service was good. Will be interesting to see how they do with the other shop competing upstairs. Opening earlier would give them the edge.
My current hyper-fixation!!! The Coconut Mango Boom is SO good. I recommend getting it with less sugar, it lets the flavors shine without being overly sweet. I personally get no added sugar, but that's just my preference. Definitely download their app! You can preorder, see how many drinks are ahead of you, and earn rewards. It's pretty cool how you can also create your own custom sticker design on there too. I gotta say, staff at this location are so hard working, every time I walk in they're hustlin, yet remain so personable and friendly, I love coming here... i'm here like 3x a week fr lol. It's a very simplistic modernized shop but my favorite part is the no artificial flavoring. So happy this place opened!

I only learned that using their app, but you can't always order through the app. There is a bit of a wait sometimes, and I don't think I've ever seen their ordering kiosk work. However, I love the mango grapefruit boom and keep coming back for it.
I'm not gonna lie, I was pretty skeptical about the king jasmine guava, but why was it actually sooo good!! I could taste the guava and the jasmine both very well, and neither was overpowering the other. I still don't really like their cheese foam though. I liked the hints of lime. The grapefruit boom is another one of my favs because it's refreshing and not too sweet. Jasmine milk tea is always a solid option and so as the kale boost tea! Wasn't the biggest fan of their crisp grape boom, it just tasted like melted grape popsicle/ grape juice. So glad they opened a location here :)
One of the best boba shops I've been to in SD! coconut mango boom (9/10): light sugar is perfect. So creamy & rich. Has a slight mung bean flavor, which I'm not a huge fan of but I'd still get the drink again! Reminds me of viet che Cloud jasmine tea (9/10): light sugar is perfect for my parents but I wish it was a tad bit sweeter. Loveddddd how fragrant it was!
The drinks are refreshing and I appreciate the variety. Depending on my mood, I can opt for a lighter drink or a more indulgent one. This location gets really busy so sometimes the wait time is quite long even when ordering in advance. I've only experienced this on the weekdays though when they seem under staffed. Other than that my drinks have always been delicious and the store is always nice and clean.

OK SO I WOULD DETOUR EVERY TRIP NORTH WITH A STOP AT THE IRVINE LOCATION FOR THESE DRINKS. Now I get to detour every trip to Del Mar with a drink. Located in the highly coveted del mar highlands (across from one paseo). there's a plethora of shops/movies/eateries you can go to before or after you get your drink. I can at least for sure say, it's CONSISTENT with the other locations i've been to. drinks taste just as delicious. you can make things easier for yourself and preorder on the app before you get there. service was slooooow. they have a kiosk for you to order by yourself which seems like the only option to really order from. So when you get stuck behind people who don't know what they're doing, it's PAINFUL to watch. I wish their staff would be more open to taking orders at the cashier instead of just standing there. overall experience was fine, i think Irvine location was better though.
First time at this location! The staff were friendly. There's no sitting place inside but there are some outside. They made the order very fast. I got the King Guava Jasmine - my favorite drink of all time. It's light, refreshing, strong jasmine flavor with lime zest. The kale boost is also my favorite as well. 10/10 read more

3-4 stars. So I've had Hey Tea in the past two weeks. I know they are very busy, but a smile or some form of acknowledgement would be nice. Like, thanks for stopping by or you're welcome (: or pointing out where straws are? I ordered a Coconut Mango Boom and it saddens me to say they raised the price for this. I had already thought it was a little expensive for fruit and sago, but now it's quite expensive as it nears $8 ($7.49 + .99). In addition, the quality?? Where are you?? Twice. The drink hasn't been well blended because I'm getting ice chunks. It's not very nice when it's supposed to be a slush! The mango however was delicious and the jello too. I think, even though I added brown sugar boba, the quantity is less than what I've received before. Which is sad to me. On another day, I decided to order their $7.99, Iced Supreme Brown Sugar Bobo Milk Tea. The milk tea was non existent flavor wise. There was nothing supreme-- barely any brown sugar boba inside and around the cup. It was practically milk and ice. Overall, price has risen and from what I've experienced the quality has lowered. I know they are really really busy, but if they can't handle that then maybe turn off the online ordering for certain periods and only open for specific times? Not sure... I'm not a fan of the other boba spot so I guess I'll try something else on Heytea menu, hopefully it's better. read more

This location of Hey Tea is tucked in the shopping area of Del Mar Highlands Town Center. This shop often gets busy, and the space is quite small inside. There is plenty of parking. I tried the coconut mango boom $7.49 for the first time. It was so good. There was a heat wave, and this drink kept me from melting away. The mango flavor is really good. I couldn't taste the coconut jelly even though I saw it in the cup. The drink would have been perfect if all the ice bits were crushed evenly. It's honestly not worth $8, but if they have any BOGO deals, def get on that. Service is good! They make sure the cup is cleaned before handing it to you. read more

One of my favorite location here in SD. There's a ton of parking and it's easily accessible. Although, there is no seating inside, but plenty of seating outside. I love to do a mobile order to avoid the crazy wait times. They have a mobile pick up section at the front of the store. If you're planning on stopping by definitely preorder! The boba is always fresh. I like to get the brown sugar milk tea. It's not too sweet and made perfectly. My other go to is the Mango Coconut BOOM! This one is my favorite for wanting fresh fruit. It comes with coconut jelly and sago. read more

The drinks at HeyTea are consistently delicious in the different cities I've had it and this location in Del Mar is no different. It's the only tea shop I'll consider ordering a fruit tea from and there's nothing that compares to their Coconut Mango Boom! The matcha is stellar too, and my favorite drink from theirs is the Triple matcha. My 3 stars is for the service, as this location compared to UTC allows for pick up orders. The staff look miserable and dread giving out pick up orders. The whole interaction with staff makes this tea shop possibly the worst one to visit. read more
Perfect. No notes. 5 stars all across the board. We came here for a sweet palette cleanser after dinner and oh my god...it was amazing. I love the minimalist vibe and the lack of visual "loudness" that comes with a lot of boba shops. Like it was positively underwhelming which I liked a lot. Servers were also friendly! The Mochi Yingde Black Tea might be one of my favorite (boba) drinks I've ever had. I didn't get a chance to try any matcha, but I know they'll be awesome and amazing and perfect--currently counting down the days til my next visit. read more
I came by to see what the hype is all about and decided to check out Hey Tea at the Del Mar location which opened in August and their newest location just opened at UTC Their menu offers a wide variety from superfood / fruit tea, in season, matcha, and milk teas drinks to choose from. The staff was really helpful and informative. I ended up getting the Triple Supreme Matcha Latte for 7.99. It comes with Matcha jelly, matcha foam, and matcha mochi. The sweetness level starts at 75% and you can adjust it. Wow! It was super delicious. The size is rather on the smaller side but it's worth it. I'd definitely come back to try their coconut mango boom which is one of their popular drinks. Their space is nice and clean and seating are available outside. read more
After not wanting to wait 2 hours during the grand opening I finally got to try it. Not wanting to wait in line I placed an online order but it made me download the app to do so. We got the supreme brown sugar milk tea with boba and the cloud it came with. The drink itself was very rich and honestly just not my favorite, but was decent. MANGO CLOUD has a chokehold on me! if you're a mango addict like me, you need to try that drink! First impression, I basically regretted getting a size small because I finished my drink in less than 5 minutes The sweetness is perfect (no added or adjustments) I don't like super sweet drinks. This location is not really meant for customers to sit inside, there's plenty of seating outside the store though. Store is clean and cute. Service was quick, staff friendly! Very yummy tea! Esp the mango coconut boom! I like how you can taste all the different flavors of the drinks. The blue matcha was not my fav since idk how I feel about coconut and matcha together. But loved the grape crush def a summer go to! Pls have more 1+1 event hehe The workers literally work 5x the speed. There is always rush but it just speaks for the taste of the product. Ambiance is cute but more of a Togo spot than a work/chilling place. Parking is hard to find whenever I am in this plaza always a bit busy. read more
Came here with a friend and I saw that they were promoting a Wicked themed drink, which I was really intrigued about. Unsolicited advice, but I feel like their promo signage should have indicated what was in the drink because the store was barely open, and the workers were SWAMPED with another promo that was taking place that day. I can tell the customer service would have been good, had they not been so overwhelmed, but they were definitely operating under a just be efficient kind of service, which is fine. The Wicked matcha: A pink pomelo aroma cloud is naturally tinted with dragon fruit, no artificial color is used. 1000+ mesh matcha is blended with pomelo aroma juice. Black specks in the cloud are dragon fruit seeds This description was taken from their site, and I may be wrong, but I don't recall any dragon fruit seeds in my drink. Not that I minded either way. Overall, the drink was good, but nothing spectacular. read more

Heytea won me over with their app and delicious coconut mango boom which is lactose free! I've heard good things about Heytea but their line is always insane. Turns out their app is amazing. It's not just your typical, order and pickup. It literally tells you how many drinks are in front of you and has a pretty accurate wait time. The wait time can be long and their could even be 30-50 drinks ahead of you! But don't worry, plan accordingly. I recommend placing your order about 25 minutes in advance so where ever you might be coming from, drop in that order. Then head over and your drink should be about done. Grape boom tea, coconut mango boom, and their mango grapefruit boom are all delicious. I agree with others that they need to work on their pick up line vs. ordering in person line. It's a tight space and despite the signage, it's actually not too clear. It can feel like you're cutting the line to pick up your drink when you aren't actually. Just ask around when you get into the store to see if the people are waiting to order or pick up. Should generally have plenty of parking. Even if it's busy, there's a parking garage. read more
We decided to stop by here instead of omomo since we were in the area. We got the coconut mango blue and the crisp grape boom. I'd say they're probably not known for their fruit drinks as it was kind of mid. I got 50% less sweetness for the coconut mango blue and it was kind of left bland. Next time I would probably try their matcha, but knowing omomo is just around the corner it would be hard to come back to heytea. The store had an aromatic tea scent that hit you as soon as you entered. The worker was helpful too in giving us more information about the drinks. read more

It looks like we have a NorCal vs SoCal bubble tea shop battle brewing at the Del Mar Highlands Town Center. Heytea has opened in a suite just down the slope from an uber popular competitor that migrated south from Orange County a little over two years ago. This Del Mar location is the first one that has opened with another Heytea shop set to debut by the end of this year at the Westfield UTC Mall. From what I heard through a relative, this chain is quite popular up in the Bay Area. Based on the soft opening weekend a couple of months ago, what I saw was an unbelievably long line to cash in on their BOGO free drink promotion. The wait was at least two hours so I turned around and headed home because it was not worth the time. I returned on a weekday afternoon a few days later, and there was still a queue of about a dozen people when I arrived. The inside was small with no seating. The menu screen was only available at the service counter in front of the register. I think many customers ordered online to save time and to be able to view the selections more easily. Fruit teas made up over half of the choices which included categories like Matcha, Superfood Boost Tea, Tea Latte, and Bobo Milk Tea. The terms Boom and Cloud were used extensively. They referred to the slushy fruit base and cheese foam, respectively. Not being a fan of foam in my drinks, I chose the Mulberry Strawberry Boom and the Green Grape Boom for my order. About ten minutes later, the two cups were placed inside a takeout bag with a cardboard tray on the bottom as a holder. I found the flavors of both choices to be quite intense which was good. What was less impressive was how the tea flavor was overwhelmed by the fruitiness. If you are more of a tea purist, then maybe go with one of the jasmine tea varieties. There was only one cup size which I believe was 24 oz. The prices of the fruit teas were expensive as nearly all of them cost either $7.49 or $7.99. Add boba for $0.99, tax, and gratuity and the total for one drink was over $11. The staff was pretty proficient at assembling the drinks despite the high volume of business. My initial experience at Heytea was between a three and four star level. read more

The drinks were so delicious! I loved the coconut mango boom. Real chunks of mango. The guava jasmine was such a pleasant surprise. The jasmine flavor is very nice and clean. Edit: found out they use biodegradable straws, which is a much appreciated sustainability feature of the shop! If you want a nice cold refresher after a day at the beach, or simply something good to drink, check out heytea! read more

I ordered using the app and the process was efficient. On the other hand, it took about half an hour to get my single beverage. My "coconut mango boom" beverage tasted naturally sweet. It was advised as vegan too. It lacked in sweetness though. The shop looked very modern and sleek but the employees didn't seem too happy. Maybe it was just a busy day. I would not say it is my favorite but I will give HEYTEA another try. read more

Solid new boba shop that gets busy on weekends, strongly recommend leveraging their app to order ahead! Their milk teas are alright and we've heard better things about their fruit teas. They also have alternative sugar options (sugar free sweetener) that might be preferable to some but we prefer real cane sugar. This shop mostly focuses on tea and every drink we've had was good didn't feel particularly unique or special. They do offer "boba" but it's not their forte and it's just alright. Overall, we'd prefer a boba shop that has solid milk teas AND boba toppings but our friends love HeyTea so we end up coming a lot just for the tea read more
Mango Coconut Blue: 4.5/5 Very not sweet and tastes like a more drink-ified Vietnamese che. It's very refreshing and balanced. I love all the textures and they work together well. Compared to a more traditional boba shop, this drink tastes and feels very intentional, a cultural shift I see with boba and tea shops happening. Ambiance: Cool and casual. Enjoy the vibe, the smells, the drink, and get out because it's small. Service: Fast but they have a lot of volume of drinks. Be kind to them, they're going through it. Parking: Big plaza but not a lot of parking. Be brave because the other people will actively try to hit you. read more

HEYTEA @ DEL MAR Parking is free in their lot, and the shop is tucked inside a large plaza. It's definitely a place where you could spend the day since there are plenty of food spots, stores, and places to wander. My boyfriend brought me here after hearing it was a new competitor to OMOMO, another incredible boba spot located in the same plaza. I was excited to try it, especially after reading so many positive reviews. Walking in, though, I immediately noticed the space looked almost identical to OMOMO! It was clean, beige interiors, but no seating, just a trash can in the corner. There was also no greeting or acknowledgment from staff, and no visible menu. Customers had to wait in line and look at the menu only when they got to the cashier, which slowed the process down. When it was finally our turn, I asked the cashier for a recommendation. He suggested the Mango Coconut Drink, saying it was popular. Since I usually prefer fruit teas, I pointed out a tea option I saw on the menu, but he immediately said it wasn't available. Confusing, since it was clearly listed. I went with the mango drink anyway. The menu here is very different from a traditional boba shop, don't expect classics like black milk tea or mango green tea. Instead, the drinks lean more toward colorful, dessert-like creations that are beautiful but pricey. My boyfriend ordered the matcha drink, and we were surprised to see boba was an extra $0.99. I've always paid around $0.50, so the upcharge felt steep. For two drinks, we spent about $17. The drinks themselves were disappointing. My mango drink was more like a sugary dessert in a cup, heavy on jellies and toppings, but not refreshing like a typical fruit tea. My boyfriend's matcha drink was very thick, closer to a smoothie, and the flavor was overwhelmingly strong, likely because the matcha powder wasn't whisked properly. Overall, I wouldn't come back. This doesn't feel like a true boba spot. it's expensive, the drinks are more like desserts than tea, and the service lacked warmth or helpfulness. Even small things, like offering samples, highlighting popular drinks with a flavor description, or providing physical menus, would've made the experience better. read more

I learned about this brand when I received an invite to the shop they opened on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, but wasn't able to go. This shop is on the ground level and is easy access with plenty of free parking on the lot. This tea shop uses high quality ingredients to make tea drinks and they've popularized innovative tea creations like the cheese tea, which I haven't tried. I hate waiting in line for anything, so when I saw the option to order on their app and pick up when it's ready, I did that and didn't wait too long before my drinks were ready and even got a discount for doing that. The shop was clean and you can smell the tea scent in the air, very fragrant. There were lots of staffers behind the counter with specific duties and they seemed to fulfill orders within a reasonable timely manner. The female staffer who called my order was pleasant, helpful and diligently packed my drinks in nice togo bags. Sat outside the Adirondacks chairs and sipped each drink to savor individual differences. I liked both the mango and the matcha drinks, but preferred the later matcha with less contents. The mango grapefruit boom had too much boba, jelly and pulp to sip through the straw because it would get stuck. I sipped that while I had a spa mani pedi nearby and I felt too full to eat anything, so it's like a meal replacement smoothie. While it was filling, I was super thirsty afterwards and just wanted H20 :( I enjoyed the matcha bobo coconut for the stronger taste of the matcha was nice after the first sip, it didn't have too much content and made easier to sip through the straw. This is one of the newer Boba shops that opened up in the Del Mar, Highlands Sky Deck area. I ordered the Kale Boost Tea and my daughter got the Mango Grapefruit Boom. My drink was supposed to be less sweet, but it was too sweet for me. I expected something healthier, but it was too sugary for my taste. I barely tasted kale. Supposedly there were fresh kale juice, but I didn't taste it. My daughter had actually ordered the Grapefruit Boom but the guy who took our order put down Mango Grapefruit Boom. The receipt was with me so we didn't realize that it was the wrong drink until we circled back 25 minutes later to pick it up. That's how long it took for them to prepare our drinks. She didn't care for her drink either since she's not a mango fan. This is one of the places where I check of "been there tried it" but would not want to come back.
