After not wanting to wait 2 hours during the grand opening I finally got to try it. Not wanting to wait in line I placed an online order but it made me download the app to do so. We got the supreme brown sugar milk tea with boba and the cloud it came with. The drink itself was very rich and honestly just not my favorite, but was decent. For the price, I'm thinking this is a try it once and that's enough for me.
The drinks at HeyTea are consistently delicious in the different cities I've had it and this location in Del Mar is no different. It's the only tea shop I'll consider ordering a fruit tea from and there's nothing that compares to their Coconut Mango Boom! The matcha is stellar too, and my favorite drink from theirs is the Triple matcha. My 3 stars is for the service, as this location compared to UTC allows for pick up orders. The staff look miserable and dread giving out pick up orders. The whole interaction with staff makes this tea shop possibly the worst one to visit.
Perfect. No notes. 5 stars all across the board. We came here for a sweet palette cleanser after dinner and oh my god...it was amazing. I love the minimalist vibe and the lack of visual "loudness" that comes with a lot of boba shops. Like it was positively underwhelming which I liked a lot. Servers were also friendly! The Mochi Yingde Black Tea might be one of my favorite (boba) drinks I've ever had. I didn't get a chance to try any matcha, but I know they'll be awesome and amazing and perfect--currently counting down the days til my next visit.
I came by to see what the hype is all about and decided to check out Hey Tea at the Del Mar location which opened in August and their newest location just opened at UTC Their menu offers a wide variety from superfood / fruit tea, in season, matcha, and milk teas drinks to choose from. The staff was really helpful and informative. I ended up getting the Triple Supreme Matcha Latte for 7.99. It comes with Matcha jelly, matcha foam, and matcha mochi. The sweetness level starts at 75% and you can adjust it. Wow! It was super delicious. The size is rather on the smaller side but it's worth it. I'd definitely come back to try their coconut mango boom which is one of their popular drinks. Their space is nice and clean and seating are available outside.
Tried the supreme Brown sugar bobo milk, light sweet and no cloud yesterday and it was so good! Ordering was a breeze since they have a self-service kiosk and a QR code to order directly from your phone. The shop was running with just a two-person crew, but they had a great system going and handled everything efficiently. Located in Del Mar. Highly recommend stopping by!
Very yummy tea! Esp the mango coconut boom! I like how you can taste all the different flavors of the drinks. The blue matcha was not my fav since idk how I feel about coconut and matcha together. But loved the grape crush def a summer go to! Pls have more 1+1 event hehe The workers literally work 5x the speed. There is always rush but it just speaks for the taste of the product. Ambiance is cute but more of a Togo spot than a work/chilling place. Parking is hard to find whenever I am in this plaza always a bit busy.
Came on Saturday and it was crowded with an expected wait time of 30 min! We've been wanting to try for a while so we sat in the plaza. I like how they have a screen with order numbers of drinks that are ready so you don't always have to stand around waiting. They have online ordering which is what I'll take advantage of the next time I come. The drinks are reasonably priced considering most of them already come with toppings! I asked the girl what the difference between the coconut mango boom and coconut mango blue were and she said "they're different colors" so that's that haha. Only downside is there's no description of the drinks at all, you kinda just have to wing it.
Heytea won me over with their app and delicious coconut mango boom which is lactose free! I've heard good things about Heytea but their line is always insane. Turns out their app is amazing. It's not just your typical, order and pickup. It literally tells you how many drinks are in front of you and has a pretty accurate wait time. The wait time can be long and their could even be 30-50 drinks ahead of you! But don't worry, plan accordingly. I recommend placing your order about 25 minutes in advance so where ever you might be coming from, drop in that order. Then head over and your drink should be about done. Grape boom tea, coconut mango boom, and their mango grapefruit boom are all delicious. I agree with others that they need to work on their pick up line vs. ordering in person line. It's a tight space and despite the signage, it's actually not too clear. It can feel like you're cutting the line to pick up your drink when you aren't actually. Just ask around when you get into the store to see if the people are waiting to order or pick up. Should generally have plenty of parking. Even if it's busy, there's a parking garage.
I ordered using the app and the process was efficient. On the other hand, it took about half an hour to get my single beverage. My "coconut mango boom" beverage tasted naturally sweet. It was advised as vegan too. It lacked in sweetness though. The shop looked very modern and sleek but the employees didn't seem too happy. Maybe it was just a busy day. I would not say it is my favorite but I will give HEYTEA another try.
Came here with a friend and I saw that they were promoting a Wicked themed drink, which I was really intrigued about. Unsolicited advice, but I feel like their promo signage should have indicated what was in the drink because the store was barely open, and the workers were SWAMPED with another promo that was taking place that day. I can tell the customer service would have been good, had they not been so overwhelmed, but they were definitely operating under a just be efficient kind of service, which is fine. The Wicked matcha: A pink pomelo aroma cloud is naturally tinted with dragon fruit, no artificial color is used. 1000+ mesh matcha is blended with pomelo aroma juice. Black specks in the cloud are dragon fruit seeds This description was taken from their site, and I may be wrong, but I don't recall any dragon fruit seeds in my drink. Not that I minded either way. Overall, the drink was good, but nothing spectacular.
We decided to stop by here instead of omomo since we were in the area. We got the coconut mango blue and the crisp grape boom. I'd say they're probably not known for their fruit drinks as it was kind of mid. I got 50% less sweetness for the coconut mango blue and it was kind of left bland. Next time I would probably try their matcha, but knowing omomo is just around the corner it would be hard to come back to heytea. The store had an aromatic tea scent that hit you as soon as you entered. The worker was helpful too in giving us more information about the drinks.
It looks like we have a NorCal vs SoCal bubble tea shop battle brewing at the Del Mar Highlands Town Center. Heytea has opened in a suite just down the slope from an uber popular competitor that migrated south from Orange County a little over two years ago. This Del Mar location is the first one that has opened with another Heytea shop set to debut by the end of this year at the Westfield UTC Mall. From what I heard through a relative, this chain is quite popular up in the Bay Area. Based on the soft opening weekend a couple of months ago, what I saw was an unbelievably long line to cash in on their BOGO free drink promotion. The wait was at least two hours so I turned around and headed home because it was not worth the time. I returned on a weekday afternoon a few days later, and there was still a queue of about a dozen people when I arrived. The inside was small with no seating. The menu screen was only available at the service counter in front of the register. I think many customers ordered online to save time and to be able to view the selections more easily. Fruit teas made up over half of the choices which included categories like Matcha, Superfood Boost Tea, Tea Latte, and Bobo Milk Tea. The terms Boom and Cloud were used extensively. They referred to the slushy fruit base and cheese foam, respectively. Not being a fan of foam in my drinks, I chose the Mulberry Strawberry Boom and the Green Grape Boom for my order. About ten minutes later, the two cups were placed inside a takeout bag with a cardboard tray on the bottom as a holder. I found the flavors of both choices to be quite intense which was good. What was less impressive was how the tea flavor was overwhelmed by the fruitiness. If you are more of a tea purist, then maybe go with one of the jasmine tea varieties. There was only one cup size which I believe was 24 oz. The prices of the fruit teas were expensive as nearly all of them cost either $7.49 or $7.99. Add boba for $0.99, tax, and gratuity and the total for one drink was over $11. The staff was pretty proficient at assembling the drinks despite the high volume of business. My initial experience at Heytea was between a three and four star level.
Beyond excited that they are now in San Diego! First had them back in Singapore and was obsessed. I tried their new Coconut Mango Blue drink and loved their variety of toppings. I love the texture of the coconut jelly pieces and sago. Very refreshing overall. Order through their app to avoid the wait. Can't wait for their UTC location. read more

Came here on a Saturday afternoon and it was fairly busy. However they get through the line quickly and drinks are ready before you know it. I ordered the triple supreme matcha latte. Very bold but delicious matcha flavor. Though personally, I could've done without the mochi and jelly. I didn't get a good taste of the cloud coconut blue but the colors were beautiful. Overall I would definitely recommend a try here. Service is quick and drinks are of quality. Not much area to hangout inside the shop but plenty of area outside in the plaza. read more

It was my first time having HEYTEA and I enjoyed it! I got it two times and I was able to try both of the mango booms, the triple matcha, and the strawberry mulberry drink For the mango booms, I wish they had more mango in the drinks because sometimes the coconut flavor can be a little overpowering. The mango flavor was super good though For the matcha, I thought it was alright. For the mulberry drink, I thought it was pretty good. It was a good amount of sweetness as well. The service was nice. I ordered using the appthe first time and the second time I went in person. I would recommend using the app as opposed to going in person. Parking is also okay to find but it might be a walk going to the store Overall, I would recommend going here! read more

The beverages are delicious. My favorite drink of the summer is actually the Kale Boost Tea (not pictured here), and the bobo pops (which are seldom in stock). Honestly, this is my dream tea shop in that there are many caffeine free options (you can remove the tea from nearly any drink), and they "nail" the less sugar. It's perfect for my taste. They use high quality ingredients and the store is clean and the staff is friendly. The only reason for the stat deduction is due to the inconsistency. I know they are a relatively new shop but I've ordered about 8 times already and so far, the app has been down and there's no way to get the points from your in-store purchase into the app. Super disappointing. Also, they give you the option to use a custom sticker on your beverage but so far they have only actually done it twice for me. I'm not sure if it's inattention to detail or some other glitch, but if I go through the steps of selecting it and then it's not there, I guess it's no big deal in the scheme of things but it was something I was looking forward to. Finally, a friend and I went last weekend and they didn't tell us until they finished making the drink that they were out of cloud topping for it. I feel like they should have told us before they made it and gave us a choice to get something different. Hopefully they'll work it all out soon because the drinks are so yummy and the quality is so good, I'll keep coming back for now! read more

I'm definitely a Heytea addict, and their drinks are worth every dollar. Their brown sugar boba tea is easily top 5 of any boba I've had. It's rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced. The boba itself is so delicious with the ideal chewy texture. I also really enjoy their fruit drinks. They taste fresh and are incredibly flavorful without being overly sweet. We came during opening weekend and waited about two hours in line for the buy one get one and free magnet. This is what happens when a new boba shop opens its doors in SD. The inside is small, but there are plenty of tables outside to enjoy your drink. All the drinks we got were very good. Glad we have another boba option! read more
This place was busy with a long line when I came here. I've heard good things about heytea and was excited to try it for the first time. The line was probably 20 minutes long, so we went ahead and ordered online on the app. On the app, our drinks were 15% off with the welcome coupon code! I ordered the triple matcha drink, and my friends ordered the jasmine tea with sugar feee sweetener and the grapefruit tea with sugar free sweetener. I heard the matcha here is great, so I had to try the triple matcha with less sugar (recommended). The triple matcha (4/5) - I enjoyed the strong matcha flavor of this drink with a balanced level of sweetness. This drink came with matcha jelly, matcha mochi, and matcha cloud toppings. The cloud and mochi components make this drink pretty thick. Surprisingly, I enjoyed the texture change of the jelly the most. The mochi was felt harder to distinguish from the drink as a whole, so I feel like it didn't really make the drink much better. Also, my friends commented how you can taste the powder texture of matcha powder in this drink. I tried sips of the jasmine and grapefruit tea. The grapefruit tea stood out to me, and was a delicious and refreshing combination of sweetness and fresh fruit. I'd happily come back here to order and try more fruit teas. When we went to grab our drinks, the inside was decorated cute, and was perfect for casual and on-the-go drinks. I'd recommend trying this place at least once! read more

We didn't realize that Heytea was at the Del Mar Highlands and happen to be in the area. We happen to come the day they started their collaboration with PopMart's, Twinkle Twinkle. So, we had to try one of their drinks. We ordered the Supreme Brown Sugar Bobo Milk tea, and their Matcha Longjing Milk tea. Loved the Matcha Longjing! Their collaboration with Twinkle Twinkle was super cute, they had bags, and drink sleeves to match the character. There was kind of a wait, despite just opening for the day, but totally understandable because of their collab, and they had a ton of online orders. read more

The place is cool and doesn't look anything like the old Happy Lemon. Their drinks are good but nothing really unique if you ask me. I stopped by on a Thursday around 1PM. This location is fairly new and the lines have been quite long. Today there was about 15 people in front of me, but HeyTea does have an app where you can order ahead for pickup. I ordered while in line and the wait was minimal. The staff moves so fast but the quality of the drinks were still good! The price is comparable to other boba shops. Bonus: This location has so many restaurants and shops to visit for both adults and children. There's even a luxury cinema nearby! read more
The drinks are delicious! Nothing would slap harder than their mango grapefruit bloom on a hot sunny day. I got their matcha and much preferred their mango drink. The matcha was good but just a bit heavier and earthier. The service was quick and the staffs were friendly were helpful! Came for the promotion weekend and only took about 30 mins from end of line to having the drinks in my hands. It's such a cute little quaint coffee place. Nice to stand in. read more

I've been to Heytea twice, and the drinks are good but really not for me. If you like fruit drinks, this is the place for you, because they're known for high quality fruit drinks with no artificial flavoring. I generally don't go for fruit drinks so hence why this place is not for me. mango coconut 8/10 -- this is good, and I think my mom would love it because she loves mango drinks! Brown sugar bobo milk tea 8/10 -- I asked for 25% sugar and the sweetness was a good amount of sweetness but still on the sweet side for me. I prefer tea-forward drinks where the tea flavor is strong. This drink is on the lighter side in terms of the tea flavor, and even with the reduced sugar, it's still on the sweeter side. I did enjoy it, but I prefer other boba places, such as Chi Cha San Chen. Matcha Supreme 5/10 -- I asked the staff what's the difference between the Matcha Cloud and the Matcha Supreme and the Triple Matcha. The matcha cloud is a matcha latte with a cheese foam. The Matcha Supreme is a matcha latte with a matcha foam. The Triple matcha is a matcha supreme with additional matcha toppings. I went with the Matcha Supreme less sugar/25% sweet. When I saw the color of someone else's matcha drink, I could already tell that I wasn't going to like it. But I wanted to give it a try anyway, for science! I ordered the mango/grapefruit and it's like a dessert drink. It has sago, pudding, little flakes of grapefruit and blended chunks of mango. I had it at 70% sweet and it was perfect. If you're looking for a drink to sip I wouldn't choose this because again, it had a lot of elements which was like a cup of dessert. My best friend ordered the matcha cloud and it was good. You cannot go wrong with matcha. Not bad! All in all, the service was great and we want to come back to try more drinks! read more

I've heard a lot of great things about Heytea, so I was super excited when they were coming to San Diego. Parking can be a little crazy depending on when you go due to the busy plaza they are located in. It always smells amazing inside, but it's usually pretty busy. Use their app to order ahead of time for easy pickup! If you choose not to use the app, they are usually relatively quick about getting your order out to you. Drinks are more on the expensive side. Drinks I've tried here are: Cloud Crisp Grape Crisp Grape Boom Mulberry Strawberry Boom Cloud Mango Coconut Mango Boom Triple Supreme Matcha Latte While the fruit drinks here are good, I would only get the grape boom and the coconut mango boom again, as the mulberry strawberry boom had too many full size mulberries for my taste, you get a lot of large seeds while you're having this drink. The grape flavor is amazing, super refreshing if you don't want a heavier drink. The cloud mango is also a great choice if you love mango but don't enjoy coconut, you can definitely tell they use fresh, ripe mangoes in their drink. I didn't enjoy the triple supreme matcha, the quality of their matcha isn't the best in my opinion, and there isn't a strong matcha taste if you're used to matcha lattes and matcha-based drinks from Japan, or popular matcha places in OC (Airoma and Brew Story) and LA (Stagger and Damo). I felt the matcha taste was very flat and one dimensional, even with the components of matcha mochi and matcha jelly in the drink. read more

We went to HeyTea on the first day of opening, and they have a BOGO free deal from today until this Sunday (7/27). We got there at noon, and there was already such a massive line. It was thoughtful that they gave us samples of their tea while we were in line. Reagan was my cashier, and she had such amazing and positive energy. I'm impressed by how cheerful she was even though there were so many customers. I ordered the mango grapefruit boom ($7.99), which was so refreshing. It had a good balance of mango and grapefruit. I also ordered the matcha cloud jasmine latte ($7.49). The matcha really helped to wake me up, and I love the cloud on top. They recommend that you twist the lid, and drink it to get all the flavors in one sip. They plan to have online order pick up, but right now they only take orders in person since they've just opened. They don't have any seating inside, but there are tables with seats outside. I'm glad that HeyTea is now in San Diego, and I highly recommend you to check it out! read more
I was up north at an ornament exchange party and while driving back home, I wanted to check out a new boba shop. I found this one on yelp. My niece was with me and ended up telling me they have been dying to try this place out. We went to the Carmel Valley location. I have never been to this area before, this place was tucked in the corner by IceSkimo, Pokewan and Melo Melo Coconut dessert place. Place was popping, (Saturday night about 9:20 pm). The inside was very simplistic, the color of the walls and design were muted, no big colors/images or designs. It definitely had a Zen feel to it. I definitely could smell fresh brewed tea. You could check out the menu by scanning the QR code, or they had one posted as well up front near the counter. Drinks we ordered: 1. Triple Supreme Matcha Latte- my niece is obsessed with Matcha, so they wanted to try this one. 'Could taste matcha really well and mochi was similar to that of 3CAT's. Got 50% sweetness which was perfect. Cream was a little heavy on top, so I might not get it next time. Overall a solid drink and good matcha in the SD area. Will get again' 5/5 2. Mango Grapefruit Boom- I think the Mango boom is the most popular drink, my sister is a fan of grapefruit so I thought I'd order this one. (25% sweetness) She raved that the drink was delicious. However, she did note that the grapefruit was just a small dollop on top. It does not seem like a different drink. 4.5/5 3. Green Grape Boom- I'm a huge fan of grapes in general and this stood out that they had a green grape drink. I got 50% sweetness, added honey boba. The flavor of this was pretty good, super different since it had peeled green grapes inside. The boba was uber soft and chewy, probably one of the best boba I've ever had. Would be nice if they gave a little bit more. The salty sweet cheese foam top MADE this drink. I'll be in so much trouble if I live closer to this place. The place is nice and clean. I went when they first open. I've been eyeing the triple matcha so I got that and the gigantor size mango sago!! My daughter and I finished that triple matcha so fast. The matcha mochi was warm and gooey. It was perfect!! The mango sago has the perfect amount of sugar!! We got both with regular sugar and it was perfect!! Customer service is excellent. Looks like they are ready for a big crowd, . I don't blame them. Did a group order and the app let us know what drinks weren't available. The app was a little cumbersome to use as it didn't accept my credit card and I needed to use Google pay for it to work. I got the kale drink with as little sugar available and it was nice and refreshing. Love that I can order ahead. read more

Heytea is a great spot for fruit based drinks that taste relatively natural, but I wouldn't wait in one of their infamous lines. On the average day, there's basically no line but the drinks are definitely made to order so you do have to wait for that (reasonable time). They do have online ordering now (which turns off sometimes, rightfully so). Parking here is super easy in the massive lot. read more

The menu doesn't tell you what's in each drink so you either hold up the line asking staff or take a gamble with what you order. I'm not a fan of their fruit tea drinks like the Yumberry Cloud, but their milk teas are good! I especially like the Supreme Brown Sugar Bobo Milk (Original) and the Mango Coconut Boom (ask for no sugar added). read more

Always busy and crazy, good for HeyTea's business. But my drinks are never ready on time and on the pricier side here. The workers are always slammed and saying sorry it's taking so long. Parking is free at Del Mar but I often have to park much further away and walk since the spots are always full or people are double parked by the curb. The black tea latte is my favorite along with the kale boost tea. The tea is the black tea latte is a red tea and you have to add in boba "bobo" but they give you a tiny scoop as a topping when you add it in your drink sadly. Wish it didn't always take forever to get my drinks here because I like Hey Tea but the Del Mar location needs a better flow or something. Went recently for a Wicked Matcha, the special seasonal drink with dragonfruit and pomelo with matcha and it was gross for me, the matcha was way too floral and I couldn't taste the other flavors. Heytea is a newer tea shop selling various drink options for those who like matcha teas, boba style drinks, and all those drinks that are similar. Pros: the location is in the heart of a Del Mar shopping center/ plaza and the front of the store has a nice little water fountain and plenty of outdoor seating. Price is average for tea shops, ranging above $7+ per drink. Parking is abundant on slow days. This plaza they're located in can get busy but you'll be able to find a spot fairly close and quickly. Note that there is no bathroom on site. Cons: there are no physical menus or QR code menus. This can be difficult for those older folks who don't use online menus prior to arriving. The screens on the back wall only show 1-2 of their most popular drinks with no menu until you reach the cash register. If you're looking to be spontaneous and order what speaks to you on the menu, you will have an awkward experience with the cashier trying to decide what to order while they stare you down. I ordered the triple matcha supreme latte and my girlfriend ordered the mango coconut bloom. The taste was too sweet, it had a unique consistency where it felt like you were drinking half cooked egg which was unappealing to me. Almost like eating a matcha flavored egg drop soup. My girlfriend's drink had the same consistency. We could not finish it due to the weird texture. Not our cup of tea. Service was not very welcoming and answered our question unenthusiastically. Verdict: I'm personally not a fan of their drinks. Might be worth a try to those who want to try something different but there are far better tea shops nearby this location that I'd rather go to. Stopped by this boba shop and got the Mango Grapefruit Boom. Definitely refreshing on a hot day! You can tell this place is popular because the employees were constantly pumping out drinks. The menu has tons of options, so there's definitely something for everyone. Bit pricey though. There aren't any tables or seating inside, but there's plenty of space outside along with a nice play area for kids. Overall, great vibes and tasty drinks. I'd definitely come back to try more! read more

the crisp grape boom was really tasty and not too sweet. The cheese foam is non-dairy I believe, so that was a plus. Dropped a star due to the extended wait time, but you can order on the app to avoid that. There are tables outside so you can wait for / enjoy your drinks there read more
Another amazing visit to HeyTea! I am a big fan of their Del Mar location. The aroma of the shop speaks for itself. The staff here is friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. I ordered the seasonal slim boost tea and it was so tasty and refreshing. You can truly taste the quality of their ingredients. Parking here can be tricky so plan for some time to find a parking spot. The lines have died down at this location so my drink came out in about 10 minutes. I love it here!
