There was so much hype around Heytea coming to San Diego, so I finally decided to try it once there wasn't a line out the door. Cloud Matcha Latte (8/10): The matcha itself was really good, I just wish the cloud top was a little thicker. Cloud Mango (9/10): Super refreshing with a strong mango flavor that didn't taste artificial at all. Even though the shop wasn't busy, we were told the drinks would take about 20 minutes, which felt a little odd. We didn't mind waiting, but it seemed longer than expected for how empty it was. The worker taking our order also seemed unfamiliar with the menu, maybe new to the register or still learning. Overall, the drinks were solid, but the service experience felt a bit off.

I finally was able to come. And I was happy that the line was not so long. They said it was gonna be about a 25 minute wait for my two drinks. That was fine since I'm already here but I think it finished pretty fast actually. The interior is so cute. But it kind of reminds me of Kim Kardashian's house. They had plenty of options. I wasn't sure what to get. Both drinks I got for 75 %sweetness. The first one was the popular mango smoothie thing. That was good and refreshing. It's not something I would normally get and I don't think it was so amazing but it was good. The second drink was the jasmine cloud. The cloud was very tasty and pretty. And the jasmine green tea was good as well, but it was not anything that stood out to me. I'm glad I tried it, but I don't think I'll be back here. But then again it is, I think one of the better tea spots utc now. I did notice they had a QR on the outside of the store on the window, where you can order ahead. I did try to do that, but it didn't seem like I could take the picture because it's on the glass and you can see through the store behind it. So I think it kind of defeats the purpose that should probably be fixed. Staff were amazing tho

Stopped by HeyTea with a friend after seeing it all over Instagram and honestly the hype is real! We showed up to a line out the door which pretty much told us everything we needed to know about how popular this spot is. The space is pretty small inside with limited seating so don't expect to hang around for too long. Also a heads up for my fellow matcha lovers, they don't offer non-dairy milk options which was a little disappointing for me. I ended up going with the Coconut Mango Bobo instead. The wait was about 45 minutes but they give you a barcode on your receipt to track your order so my friend and I just walked around and did a little shopping nearby. Pretty convenient honestly! When I finally got to pick up and try my drink, it was worth the wait! It was super refreshing with real ripe mango pieces and the boba was on point too. It felt like drinking a dessert in the best way possible. Would definitely come back, just maybe on a less busy day!

Service is very unfriendly/perfunctory; the beverages kinda match that vibe. While the flavors sound great in theory, the drinks themselves are half-assedly prepared (there is no interest among the staff in making sure that the portions/ingredients are well balanced). Everything is just BANG into the cup, and onto the counter. Not my favorite. There are a bunch of other tea places to hit up in this area. Go forth and skip Heytea.

Drinks i got two of the most popular items: cloud green grape and coconut mango boom. the cloud green grape had a fresh fruit taste to it and was refreshing. it also had bits of grape in it! my favorite was the coconut mango boom. i love coconut and i love mango so the combination of the two flavors + the toppings such as mango chunks and sago. it was such a filling and loaded drink and was more of a dessert but so good! Service: standard tea spot service where you order at the front and wait for your number to be ready. this spot does take long due to the number of drinks ordered. it took us around 40min for our drink to be ready but just strolled the mall to pass time Ambiance: very cute and small tea spot with unique and cute little seating but it's limited. a lot of people grab and go. gives off warm vibes inside

Black Milk tea with bopo added, and cloud matcha latte with bopo added.

I decided to give HeyTea a try since I passed by, and it was the first time I didn't see a line all the way out the door. They had signs hanging in the window that you could place an online order to avoid long wait times, but in pulling up the website they paused online orders since their queue was likely high. When I placed my order at the front, the cashier forewarned me that the order may take up to 30 minutes. The transparency, and the business savvy to not allow online orders when they know their queue is high is excellent service in my book. I ordered the Cloud Matcha latte and their black milk tea, both with bopo added. The black milk tea was good, but mediocre. I loved the lid they used on the Cloud Matcha Latte - you could spin the lid to create an opening so that you could probably taste the cheese cloud. The quality of the matcha was great. The flavor and texture of their bopo was also good. The bopo was bit more sweet than I'm used to, but thankfully I had the foresight to lower the percentages of sweetness in both of my teas to balance the flavor pairings. The inside of their location has seating, but since it was overfilled with customers waiting for orders and customers in line, it was very loud. I definitely did not want to enjoy my tea there and was quick to take it home once my order was ready. If I was craving high quality matcha, I will definitely keep this place in consideration. I may try ordering online in advance in the future. But, if I was visiting UTC mall and spontaneously wanted matcha, milk tea, or any boba drink -- the longer waiting queue would likely result in me choosing a different location at the mall over HeyTea.

The mango coconut boom is one of my favorite drinks maybe ever! So fruity, refreshing and not too sweet. There's a lot of inclusions already but I might try it with boba to switch things up. My sister got the cloud matcha latte, but we both thought it was a bit sweet. I've had their triple matcha before and it was super strong even for a matcha lover like me. The line didn't wrap around to the outside so I thought it wouldn't take too long, it took maybe 5 minutes to order but they warned us the wait for the drinks would take 30 minutes so we just walked around. The interior is clean and aesthetic with some seating. I would come back for the mango coconut boom or try their other drinks!

I visited HeyTea, which recently opened two San Diego locations, one in UTC and one in Del Mar. This UTC location was bustling around 5:30 PM, with a line out the door. The shop itself is pretty small, and the entrance was constantly blocked by the people at the doorway, which made going in and out a little awkward. There aren't any physical menus displayed around the shop besides the one at the register. As someone who likes to browse beforehand, it was inconvenient that the store relies on customers to look up the menu online. Even when I checked, the online menu didn't fully match what was available in store. I can imagine this being even more frustrating for people who aren't as comfortable with technology. There's very limited seating along the walls, and those seats were almost always taken. The employees at the front were friendly, and ordering was smooth. We were told the wait would be about 50 minutes, so we decided to walk around the mall while waiting. To pick up your drinks, you watch the TV screen and look for your order number. Our drinks were probably ready a little earlier, but we came back at the 50-minute mark just to be safe. Pistachio Cloud King Jasmine ($8.99 + $0.99 for boba): This was really good. It had a light pistachio foam on top with crushed pistachios, and the jasmine milk tea base was fragrant and smooth. I ordered it less sweet, and it tasted perfect. The boba was bouncy and added a nice sweetness. The cup comes with instructions on how to drink it, but I preferred using a straw since I added boba. This felt like a treat, and I can definitely see myself craving it again. At around $10, it is pricey, but it feels more like an occasional treat. Supreme Brown Sugar Boba Milk ($7.99): This is their take on a classic brown sugar milk drink, but with a subtle nutty flavor. We don't remember adjusting the sweetness, but it wasn't overly sweet, which actually made it more enjoyable. Overall, the drinks were strong, but the wait time, tight space, and lack of accessible menus made the experience less smooth. With some improvements to flow and layout, this could easily be a five-star spot.

Tbh, I don't know what the hype is about this place. There was a line so we went to try it out. The ambiance was nice, but it was so chaotic with people standing everywhere and drinks flying off the shelf. I got Yindge cheese with foam which was average. I felt like it was more foam than actually drink.

Very aesthetically pleasing. First time there I asked the cashier what do they recommend. I got the cloud king pistachio tea? It was really busy and he told me it would take about 28 mins. I had nothing to do so I waited in their cute cafe. Once I got it, it was ok....very milky. I barely tasted the tea. Unfortunately I didn't finish it but I am very curious on their other teas so I will be back to try other non dairy options.

When we got there, there were a few people ahead of us. Unfortunately, the kiosk wasn't working and you couldn't order through the app. Once we ordered, the status shows on the screen and you can scan the QR code for it to show the status on the app. We knew there would be a wait (about 25 mins) so we went to a store nearby. Plus the space is tight and can get crowded inside. We ordered the coconut mango boom and yum!! It tasted like a mango sago dessert. It was refreshing especially since it has been slightly warm here in SD. So far, this is my favorite drink. You can also adjust the sugar level.

I have been wanting to try this Heytea location ever since going to one of the locations in new york. This spot couldn't have disappointed me more. I ordered a crisp grape boom with no modifications but instead got a cloud crisp grape with less sugar. The drink is alright but was not what I ordered. To make matters worse, I waited 20 min only to get the wrong drink.

tried this popular spot and am happy to say that the hype is real! at 3pm on a weekday there were many customers in and out, but the service seemed to be running quickly. the app being the only way to order was a bit odd but not difficult, which was appreciated. i also like how it accurately keeps updating the time for the drinks to come out. the spot looks cool and picture worthy, a little unconventional but interesting! waited 20 minutes for the drinks, liked them all and would consider coming back for sure! our order (all standard, no adjustments!) my mochi black tea - very good imo! really balanced black tea that wasnt too sweet at all. i have a weird liking towards mochi in my drink, but its definitely a texture sensitive thing bc my friends hated it LOL. theirs is kinda a cold foam meets mochi vibe instead of other places which can be more clumpy. mango boom and slush - overall really great, i think the mango boom was def better bc of all the toppings. both had pieces of fresh mango though which was great! grape slush - a more subpar pick imo since i prefer green grapes. the most refreshing of our drinks, it wasnt artificial tasting and was balanced in sweetness.
