Was craving cheesecake so I stopped by this cute little spot! I got the matcha fromage cheesecake, matcha latte, and ice blended strawberry cheesecake. The cashier is really sweet and was very helpful when figuring out what to order. My boyfriend said the matcha latte tasted like the one you'd get at starbucks and my ice blended strawberry cheesecake was kinda sour. Once we got home we let the cheesecake sit for a bit because it was still a bit frozen. Overall, i felt like i couldve made a better cheesecake. The sponge cake/crumbs lacked so much flavor and i tasted more cheese than cake.

We live very close to here and it's one of our local Go to desserts area when we see lazy to drive. The drinks see ok. They do have great Japanese cheesecake. You can get a small size for a family of 4. It's not very chewy nor very sweet bc I don't like deserts that are overly sugared!

I've been here before several months ago and the boba was so warm and sweet. It was perfect! The milk tea wasn't too bad either, you could taste the tea and it wasn't super sweet. I just went a moment ago. I wanted to order iced latte with sea salt cream and boba. They don't have sea salt cream. It was on the menu, that's why I asked for it. I figure they didn't get the cream and the salt today... I guess it's understandable even though it's pretty early in the morning and they've only had four other customers for the day so I'm not sure how they would have run out. Hopefully if they don't have it, next time they cross it off the menu. The latte was pretty milky, bland. And the espresso in it was eh. No underlying flavor profile. I wouldn't order it again, it came in a large cup. I ordered a strawberry lychee green tea with boba for my grandma. She prefers it more sweet, this was heavy on the green tea. Not so much the other flavors. If you like your tea with a hint of strawberry you'll like this spot! The boba was very warm, but then it got chewy and it wasn't very sweet either. I wish they had an aloe jelly or lychee jelly available. The prices for the drinks were pretty good though, cheaper than Happy Lemon that's for sure. *not ordered today* The cheesecakes here are fluffy and delicious! It's not too sweet or too heavy on the cheese which I really like. I'm usually not a fan of cheesecake but this was tasty. (We had this for a bday!) The worker was really sweet and fast service. Only one worker today. There's no place to sit inside so it's more of a grab and go! There is seating outside in the center of the Village though.

I was so excited when this place opened last year. There used to be a line to order but now the excitement seems to have died down as the place often feels empty. They used to make their desserts at this location but I hear now it's made at their other location (National City?). Prices are REALLY high so we've had to cut back on buying desserts here. I think I'm ordered almost every single item on their menu to try out since they opened. Our favorite item is the Shiroi Valentine Soufflé Cheesecake $34. It's a very small cake but definitely leaves you feeling like you just ate something pretty special. It's a super light airy cake with creamy mascarpone . Their other cheesecakes, aside from the Japanese cheesecake, are incredibly dense. We've tried their Double Fromage $22, Matcha Fromage $22, and Double Chocolate Fromage. All three have to be put in freezer and thawed out before eating. This was a pain as you don't always have time (or remember) to do this so cutting into this dense frozen cheesecake wasn't always fun and didn't taste very good. They keep adding kitschy items to sell now (dipping dots, somi somi style fish pancakes filled with ice cream, etc) I think. I hope this location does well but I think customers are catching on the prices are too high.

Solid dessert spot in Pacific Highlands Ranch! Plentiful parking. Friendly service. Wide ranging menu featuring Boba, taiyaki ice cream, and various cheesecakes. We opted for Boba. Solid quality and came out promptly. Excited to try their cakes in the future - heads up thay none are single serving slices, so bring friends or take them home to share. Heads up that there's no seating or restrooms, but plenty of communal areas outside.

Their famous souffle cake

I'm not sure why everyone's complaining about how small their souffle cake is, I think it's a pretty average size (and price - around $32) for this type of bakery. It's very subtle in sweetness (ultimate Asian compliment), which does take a bit getting used to, but the flavor grows on you. They take orders ahead of time (I called the day before) without charging it upfront, which is a nice plus!

Yummy cakes and fast service. A bit pricey for a small sized cake. But it's worth it. We love the matcha cake. Takeout only, no tables, no dine in. Drinks are ok. A bit too sweet, we forgot to ask for an adjustment of sugar.

Heard so many great things about Cheese Garden on Yelp, so I just had to check it out. We had breakfast and then stuck around until they opened. The area had plenty of parking behind the building and some on the side streets. Service was great because I wasn't really sure what to order, and the young lady at the counter was wonderful. She explained the choices I settled on the Yaki pudding, which was like a flan with a Japanese cheesecake on top. I also ordered a matcha drink with almond milk. Just look at the pudding. Not only was it cute, but it also tasted wonderful! I highly recommend this shop as they have different sizes to choose from and tasty treats.

We wanted deserts! We wanted sweets and that's exactly what we got! The place is small so definitely not somewhere to come enjoy your sweets at, there was no tables outside either, it is in a strip mall kind of location, though a beautiful area too hot of a day to stick around. We ordered the yaki pudding which is kind of like a flan but on steroids! Devoured that mini cup in 3 bites. My sons picked out the Japanese cheesecake and the double chocolate. And here's a reason for my 4 stars. The lady at the counter asked us if it was ok with us that they were frozen, they'd be thawed in 15-30 minutes. Sure no problem, we were driving home afterwards which is a 20 minute drive. Came home still solid as a rock. Told my kids to wait another 15-30 minutes, still solid as a rock. We went shopping and came home around 9pm and finally the cakes were ready to eat, but still very cold. It's cool that they're kept frozen but I don't know, maybe figure out a different way to do this because waiting 5 hours to eat was not cool. And the price... well, very much overpriced! I won't deny they're good but the cakes are tiny. I also got their iced blended pineapple yogurt which hit the spot on a hot day, thankfully was able to drink that straight away Would like to say I'd come back but, for the distance to get a 4.5in cake at $22 I think I'll pass

Best cheese cake I ever tasted. We got the Original Double Formage cheesecake. The cheesecake came out of the freezer and tasted like ice cream. Really yummy! This is probably not my everyday cheesecake place because it is pricey. However, I hope there is enough clientele to keep it open because they have great cheesecakes!!! In addition to cheesecake, this place also serves taiyaki with ice cream and milk teas. If you haven't visited Cheese Garden, come for a visit!

There appears to be a local Japanese cheesecake battle brewing with two bakeries opening this month and another one to debut in early 2023. Cheese Garden was the first of these businesses to start their operation. They are located in the Pacific Highlands Ranch which is an upscale apartment community in the Carmel Valley neighborhood. There is a central multi-level parking structure to complement the various surface lot spaces scattered throughout the property. Cheese Garden has its roots in the greater Toronto area with four stores. This spot is the first one in the US with more to come. The dessert shop is in a small suite with strictly takeout orders and no seating. There were two menu screens with the left one showing the cheesecake products, coffee, and hot tea. The right screen listed the cold teas and blended drinks. Having already visited the larger competitor, the first thing that I noticed here was the greater variety of items and not just whole cheesecakes. Yes, this place only has one plain flavor of 7" cheesecake. However, they also carried two flavors of 4.5" double fromage cheesecake, a special 6" souffle cheesecake, a 5" baked cheese tart, a 3" yaki pudding cheesecake, and uji matcha tiramisu. As mentioned above, they also offered hot and cold drinks. I bought a plain cheesecake, a baked cheese tart, and a yaki pudding cheesecake to sample over the holidays. The cheesecake was fluffy and slightly creamier than the competitor's version. The product didn't hold its form as well though because I could pick up a piece of the other kind using my hand without the cheesecake crumbling apart. The criticism is rather nitpicky, but it shows how close the cheesecake quality is between the two brands. What led me to give the highest rating to Cheese Garden was the other items. The yaki pudding cheesecake was a light and yummy combination of cheesecake on top of flan/pudding. I wish there was a larger size as I quickly consumed the contents of the three inch serving. The baked cheese tart was akin to a Portuguese egg tart with cheesecake as the filling instead of egg custard. This tart was a supersized version compared to the egg tarts you see at dim sum service. The prices are not cheap, but you are paying for high quality stuff. The whole cheesecakes are something I would return to buy for work or social group events so that people can experience their gourmet desserts.

Came here the weekend after trying out Uncle Tetsu to do a battle of the Japanese cheesecakes. Next time I may put them up next to each other as fresh as could be. This time, I had ordered the Japanese cheesecake here to bring up the next day for Christmas (as Cheese Garden was closed on Christmas Day, as one would expect.) Also, because my eyes are bigger than my stomach, I also decided to order the matcha double fromage cheesecake. When I was there trying to decide what to bring Christmas day, the worker there explained to me that the matcha double fromage cheesecake is used with premium cheese and with premium matcha. I decided to get the Japanese cheesecake and the matcha double fromage cheesecake, and I also ordered the cheese tart for myself. The matcha double fromage cheesecake is very dense, thick, and rich. Someone else mentioned that the matcha flavor was mild, but I actually think it was quite strong. Very good premium matcha flavor. My complaint is usually that matcha foods are so mild in matcha I can't detect it at all, but it is a nice grassy bitter flavor here. Very detectable, just the way I like it. The Japanese cheesecake is fluffy, with less premium cheese. It looked kind of sad 24 hours after I had took it home. In comparison with Uncle Tetsu, I know another reviewer mentioned that the Japanese cheesecake was more solid from Uncle Tetsu, and I would agree with that. I thought the Japanese cheesecake was still quite good, but I do think Uncle Tetsu edges out Cheese Garden on the Japanese cheesecake, and my partner also agreed. While also fluffy, it stayed together more easily in one piece after cutting into it into slices, which Cheese Garden's had more trouble with. A nice mildly sweet cream cheese fluffiness. The cheese tart is delicious. The crust is nice and flaky. The consistency is lighter than an egg tart, but still quite light, and definitely a cream cheesy flavor. I highly recommend this as a nice small treat. Bringing it for Christmas Day, it was interesting to see who didn't like what. A couple of my partner's nephews actually preferred the matcha double fromage and didn't like the Japanese cheesecake which I found surprising. It was an interesting experience for all, as I had brought it to people who haven't had many Asian desserts. If you are expecting a traditional cheesecake, you might want to turn around, it may not be cheesy enough (which may be the complaint of my partner who insists these should not be called cheesecakes - I disagree). And as usual I love Asian desserts due to the fact that they tend to be much less sweeter than European or Western counterparts. If I ever feel like Japanese cheesecake again, I definitely would not hesitate on ordering it from Cheese Garden. Plus it has better parking than Uncle Tetsu and is closer to where I live. And it's Canadian to boot (yes, Canadian here), so I like to support them. They also currently offer more variety. I am curious about the rest of their dessert offerings that I have yet to try as well as their huge slate of tea drinks. Definitely recommend giving this place a try. The prices are not cheap, but given its location, their arrival is definitely appreciated for some diverse eats in the area. I hope they do well!

Earl Grey MT (75% sugar) - Regular size
Shirley Wing L.

The person who helped us at the front was super nice. We needed a minute to figure out what we wanted (we had just come from a huge meal over at Breakfast Republic) and didn't have room, but wanted to squeeze it in. I ordered the Earl Grey MT $3.75? (Regular size) at 75% sweet. He told me that they can adjust the tea flavor strength. I was like bring it on cuz I like my MT RATIO mostly tea and less milk. When he brought it out, he offered to let me try it first and he would be happy to adjust it again. It was pretty good! I didn't order the boba topping bc I'm trying to curb boba (HA) but had to at least try the tea part. Since this is located with the other retail shops nearby there is free parking everywhere (covered and uncovered). I will need to come back to try to their Taiyaki and soft serve (Somisomi knockoffs) and cheesecake! It looks yum!

Their cakes may be pricey, but…read morein my opinion, for the amount of work, effort, and quality of ingredients, I think they continue to be fair. For example, some other specialty bakeries/shops are charging similar prices for cakes and cheesecakes that are much simpler. In comparison, Extraordinary Dessert cakes take 3-4 days to make, have 6-8 alternating layers, and are typically adorned with edible gold and/or flowers. The key is to find which items you like and which are okay to pass on next time. What we ried this time: -Match Misu Cake (7/10): ricotta cake layers soaked in matcha and layered with marscapone whipped cream. This one was pretty good and ranks in my middle to high range. I only wish there was more matcha flavor (maybe if you dine in and get the sauce, this would help) or the matcha was paired with another flavor ... either go fruity (maybe a raspberry sauce, strawberry pieces, white peach pieces, or like a peach oolong cream layer) or go chocolately/coffee (maybe had some crushed up chocolate covered espresso beans). My go to's: -Ivoire Royale (10/10) - my ultimate favorite still. If you like light desserts, white chocolate, berries, and moist vanilla cake, thus one is for you. Classy and unpretentious -Shangrila (10/10) - my other favorite and will make you feel like a princess with all the pink chocolate curls. A little bit adventurous and innocently elegant. Ones to skip: -Au Chocolate / La Bete Noire / Dame Chocolate - get the Viking instead. That's my favorite of all their chocolate cakes -Lemon ricotta - get the Passionfruit Ricotta instead -Torta misu - the matcha misu is better. The tortilla misuse made me want a regular piece of tirmaisu than a cake version -Coconut cream - not bad, not amazing though

I've worked in Little Italy in the past but have never tried Caffe Italia. I got their Italian sandwich, with the default bread being focaccia. Inside there were prosciutto, salami, ham, provolone, tomato, and house made balsamic vinaigrette. It had a good balance of deli meats, and the focaccia bread was thick to hold it all together. I thought it was tasty as well as their coffee, however my coffee wasn't filled up all the way. It is strong and their roast is bold! I liked it a lot, although a lunch meal can get costly so it would just be from time to time if I were to revisit. Not only that, but they also have a small selection of gelatos which look pretty authentic like Spumoni! Other desserts I saw were mousse, tiramisu, cannoli, cheesecake, carrot cake, and rugelach. The cafe is small and the service may take a bit if you are waiting for the food, but overall, I enjoyed my coffee and sandwich.
