This was seriously so good I have to make the hour drive to SD to come back. I'm an egg tart fiend…read moreand I've never seen egg tarts that look this pretty! Not only that, but they taste amazing- the corn one was my favorite. I have to come back to try the sweet potato one because they were sold out when I went. I would really recommend coming early if you want the full selection. We came in at 10 AM and were so lucky to snag the very last garlic cream cheese bread and scallion cheddar scone. We weren't even originally going to get those, but I think seeing that they were the last ones made us greedy lol. The scallion cheddar scone actually ended up being my favorite out of everything, which is saying a lot because 1. I don't even usually like scones and 2. I reallyyyy liked the egg tarts here. It wasn't dry at all and I loved how both the scallion and cheddar flavors came through. I've had this type of garlic cream cheese bread before and liked it here too. I think it was just a little bit dried out and hardened which made it hard to bite through, but the flavors and cream cheese were on point. Would recommend the scone and egg tarts over this one. The girl at the stand was super nice and helpful! More people need to try Bakemellow out!

You can either find them at their weekend popups or sometimes at Easy Does It coffee shop down in Kearny Mesa. Since the latter worked out better for our schedules, I reached out to EDI and they quickly responded that they had Bakemellow egg tarts in! We ended up getting their corn egg tart. Maybe it's a personal taste preference, but I was expecting the filling to be a smooth corn custard. Instead, it was more of a traditional custard filling with pieces of fresh corn, all encased in more of pie crust than traditional flakey pastry. Not bad, but not what I was expecting. In terms of taste and quality, you can tell each one is handemade with care. They are bigger than normal egg tarts, but kind of pricey still ... $7 a piece after-tax. Overall experience = 4 stars (support small businesses!) Interaction with Owner/EDI employees = 4 stars Product taste/quality alone = 4 stars Price = 3 stars

The standout was the calamansi tart, which was so perfectly sweet and tart from the citrus flavors of the calamansi. I want to try their matcha so I have to come back soon! Flour Atelier is a small bakery right next to the hovering Mitsuwa. They carry two refrigerated sections' worth of original treats and pastries, many with Asian flavors such as their ube leche flan and calamansi cheesecake. I'm a gluten free girly nowadays, but when I could eat their desserts I did love their cheesecake: a balance of cream-to-crust is important to me. And those flavors? Standout. Hard to find many other places. They also have tea and coffee, and my husband and I LOVE their hojicha latte, which boasts a nice earthy-to-sweet ratio. If you want a grounded flavor without getting another coffee, try the hojicha latte! The store itself is quite small, selling sweet treats, drinks, and even flowers through a collaboration with a florist. They have about 4 tables outside -- recommended for small parties, unless you come when it's empty with a group. BIG TIP: Bring your mother or mother-in-law here to impress -- that is, if she likes cute, sweet treats and a tea party vibe! My mom always loves coming here, and bringing the whole family, too Keep up the great work Flour Atelier!

I arrived around 7:55 AM, well after the posted 7:30 AM opening time, and the store was clearly not ready--almost no bread was available for purchase, and an employee named Savannah was still stocking shelves while talking on the phone. That alone is disappointing, but what followed was worse. When I asked her for help finding a specific bread, I was met with a rude and dismissive response that it would take another 25 minutes. When I questioned why the store wasn't ready despite being open, she became defensive and started blaming others instead of helping or taking any responsibility. The situation escalated unnecessarily due to her attitude. Another employee then stepped in and found the bread within seconds, proving the issue wasn't availability--it was poor customer service. There was no apology, no attempt to de-escalate, and no sense of accountability. This reflects poorly on staff training and management oversight. Opening hours should mean the store is ready to serve customers, and basic professionalism should be the standard. Management needs to address both operational readiness and customer service training. Based on this experience, I would hesitate to return.

We actually picked up our cake tasting with them, and even without a sit‑down space, they still made the experience feel special and thoughtful. The presentation was beautiful, the flavors were incredible, and it was honestly hard to choose just a few items because everything tasted so good. Among friends and family, I'm known as the baker, so my expectations for our dessert bar were very high. I wanted everything to feel elevated, unique, and absolutely delicious--and only Heritage & Co. met that bar. I wish they had a bakery storefront so we could go back every time we're in San Diego! Aubrey was very responsive and helped us work with our budget while still giving us exactly what we wanted. The cake and dessert bar were stunning, and our guests couldn't stop raving about them. If you're looking for desserts that are truly memorable and boutique‑level, I highly recommend Heritage & Co.

I ordered the strawberry cake, which looked so pretty. When i came back to get the cake, the line was long but not as bad as my previous visit. It did still take a long time as there was only 1 cashier and people were buying lots of pastries. While i was standing in line, it took a lot of willpower not to grab more of their baked goods, it all looked so good! The cake was very nicely wrapped in a very sturdy box which i loved. They also gave me a cake cutter which was convenient. It looked perfect with all of the strawberries on top and the big shavings of white chocolate. We did enjoy the cake, but i will say it did not have as much strawberry flavor as i would have liked. It was nice and fluffy which was good, and the whip cream frosting was very light. Inside there were different layers of white and strawberry cake. Overall for the price it was a good deal, and the birthday girl was happy, so it was a win. I have been told the mango cake is very good, so i plan to try that one next, for the next celebration. I also can't wait to go back and try some pastries, and I'm sure I'll have a hard time not wanting to try everything. Definitely go check it out, but just bring your patience as you will probably have to wait a bit. Parking isn't bad as they have a decent sized lot. There is also a Target in the same plaza, and several restaurants and a Hobby Lobby.

When I saw one that worked with my schedule, I clicked in to see what they had to offer. Prices are quite high, $7-9 per pastry on average, and they had a good mix of sweet and savory, classic and unique flavors. I ordered three pastries: charcuterie danish, Kenyan chicken stew croissant, and lamb rillette spiral croissant. There was a fast turnaround for pickup, as I could only select dates from the next day. Their kitchen is located in a more commercial part of Mira Mesa, and parking was easy. When I walked in, I was a bit confused by the setup, as I stepped straight into a room full of baking supplies. I located the cabinet with pickups and grabbed my goodies. Very quick in and out. Overall, the pastry dough itself was fantastic across all three pastries. I air fried my pastries to warm them up before sampling them. My least favorite was the charcuterie pastry. The cured meat on top was very tough, possibly from being over-baked. I didn't really like how it paired with the apricot on top. Additionally, the top layer of the pastry was adhered to the toppings, and came off when I tried to cut or bite into it. The cheese rosette on top was cute but didn't add much to the flavor for me. The Kenyan chicken stew and lamb croissants were absolutely stunning. Both were not soggy and suuuuper flavorful. The ground lamb was tender and buttery, Since it is rolled throughout the croissant, you get some in each bite, the distribution is perfect. The Kenyan chicken stew is bold and spiced. There is a good amount of stew in the croissant cup, and the chicken was not tough. Paired with the buttery pastry, this was incredible. Overall, I enjoyed the pastries I ordered at Relic! They are incredibly pricy, and definitely an occasional treat, but worth it in my opinion.
