I tried their corn egg tart for the first time at Easy Does It without even knowing it was from Bakemellow and I FELL IN LOVE WITH IT. Their egg tarts are so unique because it's THICK crust which I'm all in favor for! I loved the sweetness and savoriness to the corn egg tart. I want to come back to try their other flavors as well as their scones! I went to their pop up once after that, but I ran there so I could only try one item since I still had to run back. I got there around 15 minutes before they opened and there was already a line forming. There were about 5 parties ahead of me but it still took 30 minutes to get to the front of the line. At that time the dubai chewy cookie was blowing up on social media, and they had that there so you know I had to try it. I honestly thought it was a bit overhyped though. Like I liked the crunchiness, but it was wayyy too sweet. The cocoa powder did help balance the sweetness out a little bit since the cocoa powder was a little bitter. But still I thought this was a try once but wouldn't get it again situation. I need to come back to try the other egg tarts though!!! The owner was very sweet! read more

This was seriously so good I have to make the hour drive to SD to come back. I'm an egg tart fiend and I've never seen egg tarts that look this pretty! Not only that, but they taste amazing- the corn one was my favorite. I have to come back to try the sweet potato one because they were sold out when I went. I would really recommend coming early if you want the full selection. We came in at 10 AM and were so lucky to snag the very last garlic cream cheese bread and scallion cheddar scone. We weren't even originally going to get those, but I think seeing that they were the last ones made us greedy lol. The scallion cheddar scone actually ended up being my favorite out of everything, which is saying a lot because 1. I don't even usually like scones and 2. I reallyyyy liked the egg tarts here. It wasn't dry at all and I loved how both the scallion and cheddar flavors came through. I've had this type of garlic cream cheese bread before and liked it here too. I think it was just a little bit dried out and hardened which made it hard to bite through, but the flavors and cream cheese were on point. Would recommend the scone and egg tarts over this one. This is a adorable small business with a following that is only growing. They came across my feed awhile ago and ever since then, I've also been following them. You can either find them at their weekend popups or sometimes at Easy Does It coffee shop down in Kearny Mesa. Since the latter worked out better for our schedules, I reached out to EDI and they quickly responded that they had Bakemellow egg tarts in! We ended up getting their corn egg tart. Maybe it's a personal taste preference, but I was expecting the filling to be a smooth corn custard. Instead, it was more of a traditional custard filling with pieces of fresh corn, all encased in more of pie crust than traditional flakey pastry. Not bad, but not what I was expecting. In terms of taste and quality, you can tell each one is handemade with care. They are bigger than normal egg tarts, but kind of pricey still ... $7 a piece after-tax. Wow, these desserts absolutely blew me away and I've been recommending this pop up to all of my friends! I placed an online order the day before, and it was perfectly packaged for me by the pick up time I selected. I ordered the assorted egg tart set ($25) which came with 2 original, 1 corn, and 1 mocha. My favorite was the corn egg tart, and I highly recommend it! The mocha egg tart almost tasted like a tiramisu, and the original was great too. I love how the crust really holds its shape, and doesn't get soggy from the egg tart. These egg tarts are the epitome of not too sweet. I also got the scone set ($12.50) which came with the scallion scone and vanilla strawberry scone. Both were moist and filling, but the scallion one was slightly better. My friend pre-ordered 2 sweet potato egg tarts, and really enjoyed it too. There's only street parking, but there is an abundance of street parking. There is no seating, so be prepared to eat standing, in your car, or have an impromptu picnic. This is a pop-up bakery that has set up shop in a suite amongst the industrial warehouses of the Miramar neighborhood. A small sign placed at the end of a driveway indicated the presence of Bakemellow. It's now open five days a week instead of just on weekends. A small lot had sufficient spaces for the few suites that shared the common parking area. A friend told me to visit because of her favorite item which were the Scallion Scones. These were unfortunately sold out when I arrived. The display at the service counter featured cookies, egg tarts, and financiers. There were two egg tart flavors, original and corn. Both of them had a crown profile shape that was taller than the kind you find at dim sum houses. I bought one of each and was impressed by the creaminess of the custards. Several types of financiers were available which were French small cakes made with brown butter. I picked an original and a matcha for my order. They were shaped like mini loaves of bread but were moist and delicious. I do think they were a tad pricey at $3.75 each though. I am interested to see what other baked goods they make throughout the week as a small operation. I gave a four star rating for my visit to Bakemellow. read more

This is a Korean popup bakery and there's soooo many different flavors and treats to try. I got the regular egg tart and sweet potato egg tart, which is their new year flavor. They are not too sweet or eggy, very light, creamy, and custardy. The crust is less flakey and buttery, and more of a solid, almost pie-like crust. Sweet potato was fun to try but it doesn't beat the classic. Has sweet potato paste inside. The popup is open on weekends and the girl that was there was so sweet and kind! A cute little popup with delicious looking pastries! The parking lot it's in is small but we found parking easily on Sunday around 11 am. We got the original egg tart and strawberry cream scone. They have a pop-up store in front of where I pick up pastries for Relic Bakery, I bought the coffee and the regular tart to try and they are really good. I wish she had samples to try so I can pick which one to buy. She had either Venmo or Zelle if you don't have cash on you and I dont usually have cash on me. Went to check out Bakemellow on a Sunday after seeing it on IG and it was just as good in real life! My favorite was the green onion scone which was super rich, flavorful and had a good crunch. The corn egg tart was also delicious and the cornbread cookie reminded me of a corn flake in cookie form. The staff was super friendly and helpful! I first discovered Bakemellow when I went ot Easy Does it Coffee. I got their vanilla strawberry scone and absolutely loved it. I was stoked to see that they had a popup by Relic Bageri. I placed a pre-order and picked it up on Saturday morning. They seemed to run out of quite some items by the time came by so I would highly recommend preorders! Here's what we got: - Canilla strawberry scone (6.50)- This was my favorite. I got it twice in one week if you couldn't tell. It's a little dry, but not too sweet. The strawberry compote(?) was delicious. The cream was light and fluffy. This honestly one of my favorite things - Matcha financier (3.70)- I didn't know they had chocolate on this, I thought it was just a burnt caramelized thing. This had the perfect matcha and chocolate flavor. It wasn't too sweet either - S'mores financier (3.70)- this was also delicious. I honestly still couldn't tell you what a financier is but I liked the toasted marshmallow aspect of this financier. - Corn cookie (2.50)- This was a bit on the dried side for me, but perhaps I am just not used to corn cookies. I did think the concept was quite unique! The staff was super friendly and I am so excited to try more of their pastries out.
