This is the place to go in San Diego if you want a slice of luxury without the guilt. In short: get Le Signature, Le Noisette for a nutty flavor, and if they have it, The London Cake (think chocolate and caramel; currently obsessed with this one!!). Tip: Store cakes in a cold/cool place if not eaten immediately especially during a heatwave summer or you'll learn the hard way. Best eaten with unsweetened hot coffee. Here's the long review: Parfait Paris has been consistent with their cakes; I've been visiting them every time whenever I'm close to one for about 2 years. There are multiple locations; I've been to Carmel/Del Mar; Coronado, and Fashion Valley. I don't really stay to eat; I usually grab a couple of slices (avg price is $13/slice) and slowly savor it at home with black coffee. All I can say is that this bakery knows their flavors and textures. The bakery offers pastries, macarons, and other desserts but if you're undecided, get the cake. Esp if you love (like really love) chocolate. I've stuck to 2 cakes: Le Signature- has a light chocolate mousse filling with a shortbread crust and dark chocolate glaze. Le Noisette- an employee there once told me it was like a Ferrero Rocher but a cake version. Accurate description but so understated. The mousse filling is chef's kiss. The monthly special: The London Cake: it's definitely an upgraded version of a dark chocolate cake. Filled whipped caramel filling and chocolate cream; it was balanced and sweet but not in a way that makes your teeth scream. This is the cake that had me question all the chocolate cakes I've had in my life; and the one where I go back the next day, like literally drive the extra mile(s), to get another slice. A little bias here but I've tried the mango bliss cake in the past. Decent flavors and texture as described but not as impressed as their chocolate ones. I've had my fair share of eating lots of (chocolate) cake in SD and LA; this place is def always on my list.

I want to bite into that oatmeal texture and that didn't come through with this cookie. I will say that I liked the chocolate chip oatmeal much better than the strawberry white chocolate cookie. This cookie to me was awful. If you have ever grown up with eating strawberries and cream, Quaker oatmeal, this taste exactly like it. I could not even enjoy it because it brought me back. Customer service was great and answered our questions without hesitation. Cookies are reasonably priced at about five dollars.

They are located in the same plaza as Regents Pizza, next door to Rubicon Deli. Service is excellent. It's basically one person behind the counter. There's a parking lot that's behind a paid gate, I think parking is free under 15 minutes, if you take longer because of the line just ask them to validate, they type your ticket number into the computer. Easily one of the best bakeries in San Diego.

Erin at Kuba Kreations is one of the nicest people I've ever met - I will start off with that. Now when I met Erin for our tasting I had absolutely no idea of what I wanted our wedding day to look like. She took the time to ask me many questions and actually helped me invision what I wanted. I took her a couple photos of wedding cakes I liked and her creativity went from there! I loved the idea of a top cake with mini cakes under it (instead of cupcakes). She was happy to do anything we asked of her! THEN when I showed her a picture of my wedding dress, I could tell she had the same love for my dress that I did. She even had a creative idea to copy the lace from the dress and put it on the cakes. I definitely felt like I had a friend in Erin that would make sure everything turned out perfectly.....and believe me it did! Maggie's Cake Shop deserves 10 stars, two thumbs up, 10/10 would highly recommend…read more I have zero experience or knowledge into finding bakeries that specialize in custom and novelty cakes. I was searching for an affordable bakery to cater my grandfather's 100th birthday so finding a bakery was no easy task. I requested for a quote for a two tiered cake as well as sheet cakes that would feed around 150-175 people. They were very responsive and helped me decide on cake flavors with filling combinations that would complement each other well. I was very specific with the style and design of the cake and they offered suggestions that made the cake look like a showstopper on the day of the event. I provided inspiration photos and was in constant communication with them over the course of a week. The cake topper was a custom Rice Krispy Treat that made the cake look as regal as the event was. With all their design suggestions taken into consideration, I trusted their vision completely. I opted to get two of their most popular cakes and fillings for the display cake: chocolate with Oreo cream and carrot with cream cheese. Both were insanely delicious but the chocolate with Oreo cream cheese takes the cake, no pun intended. For the sheet cakes, they allowed me to choose one cake flavor with up to two different fillings. I chose marble (chocolate and vanilla) with mixed berries and marble with bavarian cream. Both were a hit and we ran out of cake very quickly. If you have no experience looking for custom cakes, look no further. I will look into Maggie's again for our next family event!
