Green Jacket Club
Chris R.

This place was empty. It's apparently the old Dennys near the golf course on base. I'm pretty sure the ambiance is identical. I initially wanted the lasagna, but they said they don't have it anymore and they were changing up the menu. This place is a month or two old. I ended up ordering the Green Jacket club with Cajun fries. The club was a mess of luncheon meats with some "basil pesto" mayo. While the portion was huge, I'm not sure if the basil pesto mayo made any difference in flavor. There were no cucumbers as listed on the menu, but pickles on the side. I always thought a club sandwich should come with bacon, but this did not. It was bland. The Cajun fries smelled like they had some spice on them, but they were also bland. The service was fine, considering I was the only person in the place.

"Chicken and Waffles" or at least that's what they called it...

Me and hubby were in the area and I was craving for some desserts particularly UBE. I searched on…read moreYelp "Ube desserts" and this place appeared on TOP of the list so let's go MOTHER LOVERS!... It was located in a very INDUSTRIAL area so it reminded me of IRVINE... FIRST thought that hit me when I opened the door and went inside is "where is the MOTHER LOVING AC?" There better be AC next time otherwise I'm taking away a star Because I loved the desserts so much I'm going to forgive the lack of AC this time... UBE FRAPPUCCINO: 10/10 I loved it and I wanted more! It came such a teasing little grande size and I walked VENTI size like Starbucks. I could order 2 next time. It also came with UBE WHIPPED CREAM... UBE CROOKIE & UBE BROWNIE & UBE CHEESECAKE BITES: ALL 10/10 I finished every one of them except the brownie I gave that one to my dearest LOVING MOTHER! GOD I can't wait to come back and TRY everything else in the store! SERVICE: I think they might be short staffed. I didn't see anyone when I came in but, then a cute and kind looking girl came out from the back. A+ service. I will definitely be back!!! Y'all just please kindly turn on the AC or I'm coming in my BIKINI next time ;) ROCK ON & TURN ON THE AC PLEASE ALL THINGS UBE DESSERTS!!!

I was super excited when I saw this place on yelp. I love ube! Pretty easy to find, when you pull…read morein the lot just look for the purple signs and follow the driveway to the back end. I got a cheesecake slice, brownie and mochi brick with coconut. Cheesecake slice was my favorite, its like ube halaya mixed with a bit of cream cheese and put into a pie crust. The mochi brick was ok, the cashier warmed it for me because he said its served warm, I took a few bites in the car while it was still warm, wasn't blown away, so I let it cool. When I got back to it later it was already back to room temp, I liked it better that way. The ube halaya brownie would have been good fresh but what I got looked and tasted old. Like when you leave brownies out for a few days how the edges and top start getting hard. Thats probably what happened here. It felt like this brownie had a shell casing around it. I ended up peeling the hard parts off to taste it but I threw most of it away.

I didn't know they opened another location in Mira Mesa! This was my first time visiting this one,…read morebut I've been to other The Alleys in the past. I came here with a friend on a weekend, and it wasn't too crowded. Parking was easy to find, as the store is located in a shopping plaza. I ordered the Strawberry Green Tea with Jelly, and my friend got a mango drink with mochi. Our drinks came out super fast! I really liked my drink; however, it was rather sweet, even though I already ordered it with 50% sweetness. I would recommend adjusting/lowering the sweetness here when ordering! As far as the ambiance goes, it's rather sterile/white. The inside is smaller and limited in seating, so I can't really see myself coming here with a bigger group of friends. It seems more like a grab-and-go establishment, in my opinion. Overall, I had a pleasantly standard experience at The Alley. Nothing in particular stood out to me, both positive and negative. Solid boba spot :)

This one kinda hurts to say but this place really fell off. I used to like it, but after this visit…read moreI think I'm done coming here, especially with how many better boba spots are around Mira Mesa. I stopped by because it's super close to the freeway and I just wanted a quick drink before heading back south. Sunday around 4:30 the music was good, the place was clean, and the workers were friendly. There's a lot of seating inside and outside, plus board games if you want to hang out or study. Ordering was easy with the kiosk too. I got a jasmine milk tea with boba and asked for less sugar and less ice. The drink came out pretty fast and the cup design was actually cute and different from what I remember. I didn't try it until I was already back on the freeway and the first sip was honestly confusing. The jasmine flavor was super faint and watered down, but then it tasted sour. Like really sour. Not in a tea way, more like something went bad. It genuinely tasted off. I couldn't even finish it. I took maybe three sips and threw the whole thing away, which sucked because I was already driving and couldn't go back. That's the main issue. With how many boba places are in Mira Mesa, you can't be serving drinks like that. If it was just bland that's one thing, but tasting sour like that feels like a bigger problem. It honestly made me question the quality. I'd skip this spot for now. There are way better and more consistent options nearby.
