Oh my. So many fantastic ways for me to ruin my diet; carbs, fats, sugars. Then wash it all down with copious amounts of caffeine. Cheers to that. O'Brien's has some killer baked goods but why stop there? They are also a full service breakfast and lunch joint with a dash of barista. Top quality baked goods, scrumptious savory eats and brain jolting coffee to wipe away the morning grog. Good food, good service and a great way to treat yourself, even if it means shoving that diet aside for one morning.
It's been awhile since I've been here but I've always enjoyed their bread and pastries. This place has been remodeled and what seemed to be offices and conference rooms upstairs has been transformed to a real cafe. It's more inviting now and i love the photos and history they have displayed along the hallway towards the restroom. And as you walk back there you can view the machinery they use to proof their breads. Make sure you go upstairs to see it all! I've never been here on a weekend only weekdays for lunch. This place was packed even at 8:30am! We ordered 2 pastries this time. The raspberry jewel and ham and jalapeno croissant. They were very tasty. I wished we had ordered an actual meal but we werent very hungry so early in the morning. Interestingly, O'Brien's is open for dinner now too. I'll have to try next time!
We had a quick breakfast before soccer Saturday morning. We got there around 7:30 and there was only a couple of people. The displayed WOW me. Everything looked so amazingly delicious. My kids liked the frosting on the sticky bun. Ham and cheese croissant was good too. The ham inside was thick. Service was also great. Super friendly staff. We will be back again.
Pretty big selection. Quick service and they will ask if you want anything warmed up. A couple tables inside with a bathroom and they have covered tables outside as well. No pets allowed inside but ok outside. Got the pecan sticky bun. $8. Pretty good price. The frosting was pretty sweet and it was a little gooey which was great. We did get it warmed up and was perfect. The pistachio croissant was also very good. Flaky and buttery crust. Wish the pistachio flavor came through more but it was good. They had chocolate in it also and that was pretty sweet but good. I'd be back. They also have a rewards program. Good bakery at decent prices.

Don't be tempted to park along the street across from the cafe because you will be ticketed! The breads and pastries are good, but other food items on the menu are just ok. They bake their breads fresh on site, and sell them the following morning. One of my friends and I stuck around and saw fresh & hot sourdough loaves in their warehouse bakery so we came back inside and asked if they would sell the fresh loaves to us. They agreed and we were both happy. Pet moms and dads: They're very pet friendly!
Came here Saturday morning. It's located near industrial parks and there were decent parking spaces open with more in the back. We lined up for pastries and coffee. I didn't see the prices for coffee listed so I wasn't sure how much it was until I was paying for it. I got a cheese danish with ube Vietnamese coffee and husband got a large pecan sticky bun with a coffee au lait to go. There was shade seating outside, however, our toddler was being difficult so we went home to enjoy our goodies. The cheese danish is everything you'd want in a cheese danish. The flaky crust was buttery and the cheese filling was rich and slightly tangy from the cream cheese. My husband's large pecan sticky bun was ginormous. I sampled a bite and wow it was super sweet and tasted like a decadent cinnamon roll. I don't think I could eat more than a few bites. The ube coffee I had was strong and iced. Lots of ube flavor and not too artificial tasting. I don't think I'd get it again because I felt it was a bit pricey for $7.50. Overall, delicious pastries and I want to try more. It is on the pricier side but I can see why there were so many people on an early Saturday morning.
I ordered at the counter. OMG incredible pastries the coffee cake Mango and Almond croissants along with the Bear claw were absolutely delicious. The corn beef hash had real corn beef it is large and mouthwatering. The lobster omelette was awesome. Will return highly recommended
I love desserts and I am always looking for new spots. This time I tried O'Brien's Boulangerie in Poway and it didn't disappoint! They had a great selection and their desserts are not only delicious but also very pretty! They also have breads, drinks and breakfast options. Definitely worth the visit.
I'm always in the area so I finally decided to stop and try out O'Brians Boulangerie. It was mid week so there were no long lines at all. I went for some pastries/dessert only. I think the prices were decent. Not a huge selection but they did have quite a few things that caught my eye. I ended up with: 1. Bread pudding - I liked it. I mean it wasn't as good as mine but this wasn't too bad at all. 2. Fruit tart- needed a little more sweet to the crust. Sorry but Porto's tart is better. But I would get this again. The fruit was so good and the custard. 3. Red Velvet cupcake - needed a little more moisture or maybe mine was went fresh. Also the icing is pretty sweet and "stiff" I will return to try a few other things d or may e sit down and eat. This place gets extra points for the packaging. I love the Tiffany Blue box... FANCY haha.

The cheeseburger was okay to eat, although the patty came out medium when I had asked for medium rare. The patty was still juicy and tender, which made it enjoyable enough. The BLTA was good, though I would have preferred mayo instead of their spread (I didn't notice that on the menu). The bacon was nice and crispy. The fries were crispy, well seasoned, and definitely something I enjoyed. The cheese danish tasted good, but it had very little cheese. I expected more cream cheese filling, but it was mostly bread. The coffee bread was okay as well, just a little too dry for my liking. Their iced coffees were very good, and the Mexican mocha was delicious! I have no complaints about the coffee drinks at all. I do feel like communication with customers and overall customer service could be improved. It is a busy establishment, but the inside was nice and clean. The bathrooms were okay too. They also have an upstairs area, but I didn't get a chance to check it out. Overall, I'd come back to try other menu items.
WE HAD an ABSOLUTELY wonderful experience at Obrien's Boulangerie Bakery!!! Every once in a while, you have a meal that reminds you just how meaningful and genuinely well TRUE hospitality can be. My visit to Obrien's Boulangerie Bakery was exactly that. I want to give a special shoutout to Café Miguel, the bartender, who is developing some truly delicious drinks that pair beautifully with the equally delicious food. You can tell he takes pride in what he creates, and it makes the whole experience that much more enjoyable. Brenda, the manager of all managers, deserves a tremendous amount of praise. She makes it her mission to ensure every customer is taken care of, and you can genuinely feel that she cares. Her attention to people and her commitment to making sure everyone has a great experience really stood out to me. And Javon and Isaiah, both amazing servers, were fantastic. The entire waitstaff carries with them a sense of duty to the customer that I honestly haven't seen in a long time. I may have missed a few names, but I want to make it clear that every single person who helped me made me feel special and valued. What touched me most was something so simple: being looked in the face and spoken to like a human being. In a world where that can sometimes feel surprisingly rare, it was incredibly refreshing. I am genuinely grateful for the kindness, warmth, and care shown to me by the entire team. And yes... the food was delicious too!! Thank you to everyone at Obrien's Boulangerie Bakery for reminding me what exceptional hospitality looks and feels like. You made my experience memorable, and I appreciate every one of you.
I haven't been here for over a year. My friends made a reservation for brunch on a Sunday, because it was some of their first time here. I see they've revamped the walls upstairs and seem to have added more seatings too. I noticed they have a water dispensary area which is self serve. There's also a QR code for the menu, but I went ahead and searched the menu online and was helped by Tristan when all my friends have already placed their orders. He made sure to ask how I wanted my eggs done and if I wanted to add anything else. But also orders can be placed using the scanned QR if a server hasn't had a chance to check on your table. I ordered the avocado Benedict with hash. My friends ordered the chilaquiles and french toast, and a bunch others that I didn't get to take a pic of. However, I was able to try the chilaquiles, and the steak on that was so flavorful, the tortilla chips were nice and crispy, and the sauce in the bottom had a slight kick to it but with the mix of crema it helped balanced out perfectly. As for the cinnamon brioche french toast, that was one of the best French toast I've had in a while. Nice and crispy but still fluffy in the middle, with that nice cinnamon flavor, topped with whipped cream and berries. As for my order of the avocado Benedict. You can choose how you want your eggs cooked, and I had mine poached. Can def. Add other proteins to the dish with extra charge, but I wanted to keep it as is. The brioche bread was fluffy and buttery like too, it was great for absorbing some of that hollandaise sauce and yolk. My friends also ordered two bottles for mimosas. We had lychee and mango syrup/puree and it gave such a tropical and summer vibe. We also ended our meal with some desserts. We had the cream puff ube, cake choc brownie, and cheesecake caramel apple. My fav. Out of the three, was the cake choc brownie. I think I would be able to eat two of those if I wasn't full. Just loved how the chocolate mousse on the top melted in the mouth, but also that brownie isn't the typical brownie texture. It has a crisp to it. The mousse and crispiness just melts so deliciously together. I should've ordered another for takeout. Service was great despite it looking busy. Food didn't take too long to come out either. But we also did dine in at a decent time too. We had such a good time, especially for my friends who tried it out for the first time. I see they also have a dinner menu now. Maybe we'll come back to try that next time!
everything was amazing!! food, service, drinks 100/10 Didn't get pics of our food but we got the red chilaquiles (it's spicyy!) highly recommend 10/10 and we got the meat lovers omelette ! Brenda helped take our order, she's so nice and helpful! Miguel made the bestttt drinks Our favorite was the secret drink we got and the pina colada from the flight. They have tons of bakery items. We got the fruit tarte as recommended by Brenda and lovedd it. Definitely coming back!

Cannot recommend this place enough!!! Been here a couple times for the dinner service (100/10 btw) but today was my first time coming for their breakfast. WOW WOW WOW!! The crowd of people was what you would expect for 10 am on a Saturday but there was virtually no wait. Just enough time to thoroughly browse the menu, take in the beautiful display case of baked goods, and by the time you've decided what you're in the mood for, you're at the register. After placing our order we headed upstairs to find a table and no less than 10 minutes our food had arrived hot and fresh. I ordered the Short Rib Benedict which was heavenly and the Coconut Matcha Cloud with oatmilk and seriously one of the best matchas i've had in SD. What an awesome french style bakery! Its an unusual bakery building setting. Its nestled on the corner of Stowe. When you enter youll notice all the parking to your right is all taken, but dont fret, there's more parking in the back. If that's all full you can park on street i suppose where a lot of cars were parked. I came on a Sunday so it was rather full and I almost parked on the street until I gave it another go at the parking lot. A lot of people come and go quickly though. A lot of people make phone and online orders so you see the doors to the entrance opening and closing a lot around lunch. There are also tables outside of the restaurant under a canopy like cover. The benches have qr codes for the menu. When you enter you go to the order dine in line or online/phone orders line depending how you ordered. There's only 2 tables downstairs but the rest of the tables are upstairs. There's a bathroom upstairs and downatairs. You can also order through the kiosk for to go orders or you can go to the register to order for dine in and to go. At the line youll see your pastries and the bread and there will be a menu book right before you get in line and at the register. You order and then they call your name when your order is ready. You can find a table after you pick up your food. Or you can order at your table and someone will serve it to you. I got a strawberry eclaire and a banana creme brulee. I also ordered a cubano... bc you know. I loooovvve cubanos. I got into it when I watched Dexter when it first came out. Dexter loved cubanos! The eclaire was fantastic. The custard was good and the whip cream was delicious! This was a very nice eclaire. The banana creme brulee was good, just different than what i was used to. It tasted cakey. Still good though. My cubano was pretty good too. I loved that it was on a panini flat bread and toasted perfectly. The pork was bland but the ham made up for that. The cheese was great in the sandwich and overall this sandwich was good, not bad at all. The fries it came with was pretty good also. Its a bit pricey but I think the quality and taste makes up for it. The cashier was nice and helpful. By the time lunch was about over, maybe around 2pm, it wasnt as busy at all. We stopped by OBrian's Boulangerie to try a few things from their breakfast menu and pastry selection. I always appreciate a bakery that offers more than just your typical pastries, and there were definitely some interesting options to choose from! For breakfast, I ordered the Short Rib Benedict, which caught my attention immediately. I love seeing a creative twist on a classic brunch dish, and short rib is always an appealing addition. For my drink, I went with the Banana Cloud Latte. I'm always drawn to unique coffee flavors, so this was one I wanted to try. Very delicious. Of course, we couldn't leave without sampling some pastries! We picked up both the Mango Cream and Guava Cream pastries. Between the two, the guava was easily my favorite. It had a more noticeable guava flavor and was the standout of the pastries we tried. The mango cream, unfortunately, was a little disappointing. I was expecting a more pronounced tropical mango flavor, but it didn't really come through. If I hadn't known it was mango, I'm not sure I would have identified the flavor. I appreciate the variety of both savory and sweet options here, especially the more unique flavors you don't always find at a traditional bakery. The guava cream pastry was definitely a highlight, and I'd be interested in exploring more of their pastry selection on another visit! read more

Omg these pastries are HUUUGE! I secretly, only slightly, wished they were smaller so that I could sample a few. The brioche cinnamon roll had a lovely crunch to the soft buttery brioche texture. I love cinnamon so do wish there was a higher filling to bread ratio, but osrsonal preference. Also ordered rhe cinnamon croissant. Nothing special, but very yummy. read more

My friend and I came here for lunch and I had the Honey Dill Turkey Sandwich and it was really good and large enough in my opinion for two people to share or you could take half home. The Sticky Bun was another stand out! I would definitely recommend dining here & will be back myself. read more

I've had this place bookmarked for years and finally made it out here today. The pastries, cakes, cookies and bread on display all look so tempting; but we came for brunch. I had the corned beef hash and eggs (corned beef, 3 eggs any style, home-style potatoes and hollandaise sauce on top of sourdough bread). It was definitely a hearty and delicious meal. I tasted a bit of the lobster roll: it had an ample amount of lobster and the grilled roll was fresh, light and buttery. Service was ok: they forgot to bring us the mimosas we ordered, then offered a complimentary pastry for their error & the wait, but then forgot to bring the said pastry... Covered picnic table seating outside, and indoor dining area on the 2nd floor. While you're on the upper level, you can view the employees hard at work in the bakery below. read more
This isn't our first time eating at O'Briens--we've already had brunch here before, but it's our first time having dinner with them. Let me tell you--the vibe is a bit more chill at night, but the food, the service, the staff? Still as superb as we experienced back when we had brunch here. All the staff we encountered during our dinner were so incredibly sweet and friendly. We never had to wait for someone to check in on us; they periodically asked if we needed anything or how our food was without being overbearing. And the chef--Chef Carlos Vargas--even went up to our table to ask how we liked our food! It was so thoughtful and certainly made our dinner much more special, and we were already having such a great time with full bellies as it was. The food--there's no question about it. So incredibly delicious and tasty! Even the desserts were so scrumptious. I'm beyond happy they still had some of their goodies at the bakery when we got there, so we got some sweets from there for our dessert. What we tried: White Lobster Mac And Cheese - 6/5 Hands down the best one I've ever had. Because this isn't your typical mac and cheese. There's so many layers of flavor to it. It's so cheesy and creamy without being overly salty. They don't skimp out on the lobster chunks either. The depth of flavor on this dish is just double chef's kiss! You won't want to stop eating it. Pomodoro Bianca Fettuccine with shrimp - 4.5/5 One of my favorite pasta dishes. Perfectly paired with the shrimp! I usually have my lattes sweeter, but I absolutely loved this one even without any sweetener added. Strawberry Oreo Cheesecake - 5/5 Unctuous and silky smooth creaminess, but refreshing at the same time! The strawberry flavor was very prominent in the cheesecake, but not too sweet. Safe to say this didn't last very long after we started digging into it. Turtle Pie - 4/5 Very delectable, but simple and nothing too unique about it. The cream was very smooth and yummy, especially when eaten with the chocolate cookie crust. They do have restrooms and although there's only one stall, it's so pristine--very clean and smells so good. I mean the whole entire place is always so clean and inviting as it is, any time of day we visit them. Oh hell yeah!! This is the best in Poway! I had the ham and cheese croissant so dam good. This croissant was warmed I cut in half the jamón is so delicious and not a lot of cheese perfect We walk in and pick up a menu but I passed it up and started drooling as Locked eye with a gorgeous bunch of desserts in a case I locked eyes with ham & cheese. O'Brien's what a cute restaurant. I came here with a group of friends after our morning hike at potato chip. I order a breakfast burrito. Super delicious!! I also order their mimosas and let me say after the 2nd one I was feeling very happy lol. We took 2 boxes of pastries to go. Omg they were so delicious we finished them in 3 days. Love all their sweet pastries, must try them all. Service was friendly and fast. Easy transaction!! Parking was a little thigh however they do have additional parking on the back!! read more

O'Brien's has become one of our local favorite spots. The food, drinks and pastries are incredible and the staff is always so friendly. Love the recent upgrades they did to the upstairs seating area. We also love that we can see the bread production from the updates window. When you visit be sure to take time to read about the business' story, it's incredible. 10/10 recommend! Totally forgot to get any pictures of our food because we just dug right in. read more
Found this little gem by accident on Father's Day. The food was not only picturesque, but it was delicious! It was very busy when we went and the service was great! Had multiple people checking on us and our server was on top of things. The staff were incredible! This place is instagram worthy that's for sure. Trendy and cute on the inside. Suggested this place by a coworker and oh my what a great recommendation. I went 2x in 1 week. I tried the chocolate croissant, brioche cinnamon roll, ube cheesecake and a lavender matcha latte. Everything taste as amazing as it looks. I wish I could have tried more but my waistline would disagree. Loved the almond croissant and the cheesecake was divine. The cinnamon warmed up for 20 seconds is perfection. I will say I wasn't a fan of the chocolate croissant. Yet the matcha was made well. Quaint decor with both indoor and outdoor seating. What an absolute treat! My coworker and I dropped by for a quick breakfast and it was delicious. This place had a good amount of indoor and outdoor seating, and they served you the food to your table and it came very quickly. The seating was wherever you liked, all you had to do was simply placethe buzzer they give you on the center of the table. It was like magic! We had the Hallelujah latte which was similar to a Mexican hot chocolate, not overly sweet, and you can taste coffee still. I got the seasonal latte, a Floral Creme Brulee latte. It tasted quite nice, definitely floral notes, a crunchy top, and could still taste the coffee. Would recommend if you're into a floral latte! As for the pastries, I found the Cheese Guava Danish to be super tasty! It tasted very fresh and soft, and the flavors were truly delightful. The pistachio croissant was new for me! It smelled of a pandan aroma, however, I might not get it toasted next time. I think it's more photogenic before the pistachio topping gets browned. But regardless, it was delicious. read more

A cute breakfast spot in the middle of the poway business park. This place has plenty of seating outside and two levels inside. Parking lot is limited but there's another dirt lot that seems to be the customers self-made parking as you have to drive over a curb to get to it. I ordered the short rib Benedict, which at 19.99 I felt that it was a solid portion size for the price! The Benedict was solid, the short rib meat was nice and tender. The potatoes were under seasoned in my opinion. My friends got the breakfast croissant and the lobster omelet and really enjoyed them both! This bakery is located in an industrial park in Poway. Parking was horrible, almost none existent. We parallel parked on the street, it says no parking, luckily we didn't get a ticket. Food was okay, my hubby and son liked their sandwiches. I really don't see myself wanting to go back. read more
What a hidden gem! I only discovered this place since my friends and I hiked near its proximity. Parking was easy, they have their own designated lot. You order at the cashier, they hand you a pager that you place on a barcode, you seat yourself and once the food is ready they serve you and take the pager. It's a system that worked when I visited. Went to brunch on Saturday morning and were lucky enough to snag a seat upstairs. You walk in and order at the counter. Displays of beautiful looking pastries are tempting. This time we went for savory and ordered from the menu. Food was delicious, served quickly and hot. The breakfast sandwich for me and pastrami sandwich for my husband. We also got a bottle of bubbles for some mimosas. The staff were very friendly. Love that they give you a locator puck so the food and beverages are brought to you. The gentlemen bussing tables and bringing food were so attentive and accommodating to all the patrons. Will be back, and will make sure to come early before the crowds. read more
I love this place for their pastries and their delicious breakfast items! Brioche Custard is typically my go-to and my boyfriend loves their bread pudding. The breakfast burrito is on the pricier side but I always take home leftovers and it's so good. I don't typically like red salsa but both salsas compliment the burrito perfectly. The bagel is a HUGE portion and absolutely delicious. The short rib inside the bagel is insanely tender. Service is great, they bring your order to you. Yes so our avocado toast trio is a variety of 3 mini open face tea size toast with different toppings. You may be looking at our old picture of our avocado toast which was only one slice.
