My friend and I stopped by here on New year's to try their bread. It has honestly been a while since I have tried Starbread Bakery so I forgot what exactly was the kind of bread they sold. We got a five piece of the seniorita bread and it was hot and fresh! It's slightly buttery, but also has a sweet honey flavor. The seniorita bread reminds me of Filipino pan de sal. It is like none other, and I think that they are best eaten right away. I do want to come back to try their ube pandesal rolls. I appreciate how consistent the Starbread Bakery is when making its famous Senorita Bread. Early morning run for breakfast was delicious. Senorita Bread and Guava pastries were on my radar. Service was fantastic and helpful. When I got the box into the car, the aroma of buttery sweetness permeated throughout the car. I couldn't help myself!!! I went into this lovely, bright spot early Saturday morning, and the young man was very cordial. Being my first time, he gave me a starbread to try. Delicious! Fluffy, lightly sweet, buttery ... The space itself is quite small, but it is light, bright, and very clean. When you walk in, you immediately get a whiff of the freshly baked bread, which smells absolutely delicious. The star bread is a Spanish style bread that is not very big and you can easily finish it in three to four bites (or two, depending on your hunger). It is filled with butter and sugar and are quite addicting. I highly recommend eating it while it is hot. It is still good when it cools down, but it is definitely best when it is fresh and warm. It really melts in your mouth. I have also tried the malasadas, the mochi donuts, brownies and other breads. They were all just OK and nothing that really blew me away. The real star here is definitely the star bread, especially when it is freshly made. Service has always been friendly and efficient as well. I couldn't wait to try this place after reading the reviews and seeing them on IG. I had a meeting and wanted to bring Starbread for everyone. It's a long drive for me but I was too excited to get their famous warm bread to share with everyone. I ordered two boxes of 20 pieces at $16/box so $32 total for 40 pieces. The bread was warm and fresh when packaged . I took a quick pic and was surprised at the smaller size. It kinda reminded me of Oscars breadsticks (anyone remember those?!) or Olive garden breadsticks. The bread was still warm when I got to meeting. I waited anxiously for everyone to try and to my amazement no one said omg these are the best things ever. It was mostly 'yeah, it's alright' or 'just ok' and 'there's no wow factor'. So maybe the hype was a bit much (esp from me to them). I wouldn't go back to purchase more unless I was in the area and someone really wanted them. Planning ahead of time is key. Knowing how many people will feast on these warm, buttery bread. Then factor in that each person will want to enjoy at least 5. YES that's right, 5 PER PERSON. And that's being on the lighter side. TRUST ME on this. Once you enter, you are greeted by the cashier who will ask you how many senorita bread aka Spanish bread you want, you best be ready. He/she grabs the corresponding box, rings you up, then goes to the back to retrieve these freshly baked rolls. You will definitely eat 2-3 rolls before getting to your destination. Other items sold, different flavored mochi donuts. We tried the matcha one, but I prefer it to be more mochi in texture than doughy. They also sell malasadas but being from Hawaii I prefer my malasadas fresh out of the fryer so I passed on trying theirs as it was sitting in their display case. It's filled with a mixture of brown sugar, butter, and breadcrumbs, then rolled and baked. They bake it fresh when you order it. I usually eat it once I get it but I was extremely exhausted that day. Store: It's pretty small compared to the other location. Though its small they have a variety of other baked goods. I've tried the brownie, mochi donuts, malasada, and cupcake. Parking: Free and theres ample parking. Try the Senorita bread it's addicting. Make sure you eat at least one when it comes out especially if you don't live alone. This Starbread Bakery is located in the same plaza as Coffee Bean, specifically right next door to a Pho place. There is parking available right in front of the bakery. Since we were going to a family party (was much bigger than I was initially told, so didn't buy enough for everyone), I decided to stop by Starbread Bakery, Filipino bakery, for their famous seniorita bread. I ended up purchasing a box of 15, ($12 prior to tax, $12.93 after). We arrived on a Saturday afternoon, a little before 2 pm. There was only one person ahead of us, waiting for their order. After the girl took my order, I waited 8 minutes for my order to be ready. They definitely taste great warm and fresh but can't say if they are good when they are not. The seniorita bread is soft, fluffy like and also sweet (but not overly sweet). The size is small and addicting that you want to eat multiple pieces at a time. Although this bakery also sells other baked goods, I have never tried them and have only had the seniorita bread (from another location). I would definitely recommend purchasing a large box if you are going to a family gathering or party (and you may want to order extra for yourself and maybe devour a few beforehand because these will run out as soon as people find out you brought the good stuff). read more

We live in North County so Poway is a bit of a drive but then again we're used to heading up to San Francisco where one of our first stops is always a Starbread bakery. My husband's aunt first took us there in Vallejo and we were hooked for life. You'd definitely gain some poundage eating these weekly but getting them for a party or gathering will make a huge impression. We have been a fan of these when we discovered it in SF, happy that this location is opened in north county and not having to drive to Chula Vista. Yes to this deliciousness! I have never tried Starbread only because the one in NC is quite the distance. I'm glad they opened nearby. I have already picked up dozens of fresh Starbread for work potlucks, family parties, and gifts for friends. It's a small storefront and the times that I have gone (usually during off peak times) it's never busy or crowded. The customers are so nice that when waiting I have chatted with others. Lots of parking since it's shared with many other businesses like Coffee Bean and North Park Produce in Poway Road. No matter how much you order, each piece is about .80 cents. Expect about a 10 minute wait for that. The wait can be unpredictable though. I came on a Sunday, no line, but after I paid. There was a line out the door. Sooo stoked this location opened up since Chula Vista is way too far of a drive. If you've never had starbread before, they sell freshly baked señorita bread, which is a sweet bread with a light brown sugar/buttery filling. I went on their grand opening at 2:30pm and there wasn't a line. You order at the kiosk and they bring out freshly baked bread for you. I opened the box and the smell alone made me try one. It was warm and perfect! They have other baked goods inside, but I saw a lot of them were sold out already. I bought their dulce de leche flavored rolls & they were amazing too. You can't really go wrong with the pastries here, you can tell they are made with love. A bit on the pricey side at $1.25 per roll, but honestly the taste is worth it! read more

Some of my coworkers were raving about Starbread Bakery and how delighted they were that this new Poway location opened up. Out of curiosity, I decided to try it out during lunchtime. Super light and surprisingly hollower than expected. Eat when it's fresh and warm. Strawberry Malasada (3.5/5) - Never had a malasada before but it reminded me of a jelly donut. Fried dough covered in sugar with a strawberry filling. I personally wasn't the biggest fan of the filling because it was a bit too syrupy and artificial tasting. It was also nearly neon pinkish red in color. SERVICE: (5/5) The person that helped me out was very kind and informative. You'll just order everything you want at the register.
