Unfortunately, I wasn't even able to place an order, so I'm very frustrated with the service and the time I wasted over the course of a week trying to order cupcakes. I don't know why she didn't just tell me she didn't want to take my order. From her first response to her last, my gut feeling was right. I never should have spent my time and energy giving her my business. Her communication was poor from the beginning. She did not answer my questions right away, gave short responses, and I often had to ask the same questions more than once before getting an answer. I immediately felt like I was not welcomed as a customer. Even though most of her reviews seemed good, I tried to be patient and continue with the order. Before I could send payment, she said there was a family emergency, that she had to travel, and that she would no longer be able to make the cupcakes. While emergencies certainly happen and it could truly be the case- the timing left me skeptical, especially since the event is still over two weeks away. Before being cancelled on, I was simply asking for written confirmation of the correct order details and pricing (bc in her previous email it was incorrect). I wanted the correct cupcake order and price written down for a paper trail before sending payment. It did not need to be official, but after the incorrect total and poor communication, I felt uneasy. Her explanation for the wrong amount did not make sense compared to her listed prices, which made me feel like she may have been trying to upcharge me. Regardless of the emergency, communication was just poor and that's the main reason for this review. I don't know if my order was too difficult because I requested several different flavors, no designs, except for one cupcake. I'm not sure where things went wrong, but I'm very disappointed because her work looks great. Some of her reviews mentioned good communication, but that was not my experience at all. I hope she does not treat another customer this way, especially because planning a party is already stressful. If she does not answer your questions clearly and promptly, I would consider taking your business elsewhere. I would not recommend. read more

I had an amazing experience with Elite Baking back in January. I ordered a custom vanilla bean cake with whipped vanilla frosting for my parents' birthdays (they're not a few days apart in January). The owner brought it out to my car in a very secure cake box, an he home was quite easy to find as well out in Sabre Springs. The cake was absolutely beautiful, and even more importantly, it was absolutely delicious. We brought it to the restaurant we ate at for the birthday dinner, and the staff cut it for us and served it. The cake was fluffy and moist, and the frosting was divine. 100% can't recommend Elite Baking enough to help you create a truly special event or holiday. read more

We were spending the weekend in San Diego for my wife's birthday and I contacted Elite baking to make a cake and deliver it to the hotel. They were extremely easy to work with and communication was great. They delivered the cake to the hotel we were staying at prior to our arrival and were very accommodating. Elite Baking is my absolute favorite bakery. Anu is a completely lovely person and a true confectionary artist. We have work events every couple of months at my work and Anu has made us some truly beautiful creations. All I've had to do was send her a couple of idea photos and she takes it from there. Anu communicated with me well, and was very receptive to my specific design requests. My guests enjoyed the different flavors of cake/cupcakes including: carrot, chocolate peanut butter chip, strawberry, chocolate, and Hazelnut almond. The only suggestion would be to have the cupcake types labeled, although based on my selections, it was easy to tell which were which. The pricing was reasonable given the size of cakes ordered and design requests. We were able to get closer to 30 servings of cake out of each one.
