Great cafe to check out! When you order at the counter, they hand you a buzzer for pickup, which makes the process super easy. There's a good amount of indoor seating and a few tables outside if you want some fresh air. The menu has so many great options and plenty of variety! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere inside felt warm and welcoming! I loved the decor, and I thought it was such a sweet touch that they had children's books donated by the community! I ordered the Breakfast Club and the Honey Cinnamon Oat Milk Cold Brew, both were amazing!! Such a rad spot, and I'd definitely recommend it to others!

I really wanted to like this place. The person who took my order was very kind and friendly, which made me feel welcome. Unfortunately, the latte was a bit disappointing, and they also didn't have any "for here" cups, which was another letdown. I'd still be open to coming back to try the food menu and hopefully have a better experience with the latte next time.

This is our 3rd time here, always very clean. Friendly staff. The breakfast sandwich always a hit! Hot and delish. Iced caramel Coffee woke me up! We wish we could have stay longer. Ambiance music make you feel comfortable.

Ordered at the register and got a buzzer for pickup. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and a large menu with lots of great looking options. I ordered the vegan toast. It was fresh, delicious, and well-priced. I'll definitely be back!

Perfect breakfast date spot! My husband loves their breakfast bagels, and the jalapeno bagel is a must try. Their sandwiches are really good too.

Absolutely zero complaints! A great stop right off the highway. The staff was friendly, food arrived quickly, and was delicious! The coffee was great, as well. Highly recommend for a stop on a roadtrip or any day of the week!

Elmisa is the best place for sandwiches and coffee!! Literally my favorite place! The staff is great!!! They're always so nice. They have the most amazing delicious sandwiches and drinks!!! I always get the Ruben or the tuna. And I always get a chai latte!!! The place is so cute. Nice and cozy.

Cute spot, not many tables to sit at. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast sandwich was delicious.

    RB acai bowl
    Eva D.

Decided to grab an acai bowl while I was waiting for my appointment up the street. Ordered the RB acai bowl to go and it came out pretty quick. So I'm sitting in the parking lot for my appointment and get ready to dig in! Unfortunately what I didn't realize until I pulled it out of the bag was that it's a frozen solid bowl of acai with the toppings put on top. 35 minutes later....I am currently still waiting for it to melt enough to enjoy. Don't get me wrong...it looks delicious...I just don't think I'll know for another 10-15 minutes. So just an FYI...maybe get it for there. Hopefully those are blended and ready to eat.

I love my Prosciutto & Fig Toast, if you want light lunch, this is the good place to go. I feel that toast is bit thin tho. Tastes very good but it's expensive for this small portion.

Coconut matcha lychee drink and Hey Honey Burrata (prosciutto, burrata, arugula, honey and red pepper flakes). Loved my drink!!
    Deanne L.

5 stars for their Coconut Matcha Lychee drink!! Although this may be a seasonal drink since it was written on their chalk board sign right in front of the register, I'm hoping it's a forever thing! I came back twice within a span of 1 week since I was craving it again. I also tried the Hey Honey Burrata Toast which had avocado, a lot of arugula, prosciutto, and hearty pieces of burrata with honey and red pepper flakes. Good and filling but my drink was the star of the show. Service is super nice. The cafe has a good amount of tables and it's pretty busy whether it's morning or afternoon. 1 hour limit if you plan on doing some work there. Parking is tight but always managed to find a spot luckily.

Hi! What kind of vegan pastries and food do they offer?

They offer vegetarian options but you can alter things to get no cheese and such. they do have milk alternatives. they also have smoothies and açaí bowls!

The bartenders in front of us were clearly having a conversation and I didn't want to interrupt. My friend claimed her Irish coffee was sour? And didn't realize cheese came on a side of eggs (she should've checked when she ordered but the server never clarified either). We weren't checked on during the meal until the bill came and by then we just wanted to leave. I ordered the fluffy pancakes and found an egg shell inside. The cracking of eggshells in my mouth made me loose my appetite. We paid (still tipped of course) and left. It was great the first time and mediocre the second time. I prefer consistently in service, especially if I'm waiting an hour to be seated.

We had spent most of the day around Bankers Hill and decided to grab an early dinner at Books & Records. Getting reservations was easy, but from the moment we walked in, the ambiance alone already had us sold. The place was still pretty quiet when we arrived, and to our surprise it was happy hour, so naturally we ordered a bunch of items off the menu along with drinks. Everything was ridiculously good. Not one miss. What really stood out though was the attention to detail. The host brought us a complimentary glass of champagne after hearing we were celebrating our anniversary. Small gesture, big impact. Stuff like that matters. As the night went on, the restaurant filled up, live music started playing, and the whole atmosphere just came alive. Our waiter never rushed us once, which made the experience feel even more intentional and relaxed. We were able to actually enjoy the moment instead of feeling pushed through dinner service. Good food is one thing. Great hospitality is another. This place gave us both. Next time we're in San Diego, we're absolutely making it a point to come back. Lovely spot. Lovely experience.

Cramped and loud, but nicely decorated and serving solid authentic meals. Mexican Latte-9/10: Pretty straightforward. A solid, nostalgic spiced coffee. Mazapan Latte-10/10: A novelty menu item, both nostalgic and tasty. With a sweetened condensed milk rim and mazapan dust, this sweet coffee is a must order. Chilaquiles-10/10: Cocina 35 knows how to throw down the best Mexican breakfast item: the chilaquiles. The Verde was good but didn't pack much heat. The Salsa Secreta was our favorite; a creamy 3-chile salsa with an artichoke flavor, this one packs an enjoyable amount of heat. The Chipotle was another yummy and creamy option, making your nose run but still very enjoyable. Frijoles Puercos-7/10: They were pretty standard. I've definitely had better. They served their purpose as a good side. Concha Rellena-7.5/10: Another creative menu item. Whipped cream and whole strawberries sandwiched between two french toast-style concha halves and drenched in cajeta. It was sweet and warm, but would've been more enjoyable with fresher and/or sliced strawberries. Fun to order, but a regular concha is better suited for enjoying with your coffee. Service-6/10: Again, Cocina 35 gets packed, so service isn't as attentive. Our party had to order and wait for water, ask for refills, call the server over for more orders and again for the bill, and wouldn't speak to us in Spanish. I witnessed other tables be spoken to in Spanish, but upon ordering I'd only be responded to in English. I know I'm a white Mexican, but native tongue is nice when I make it clear I'd like to order in Spanish. Overall, a fun spot with solid menu items. The samplers are pricey but probably the best bang for your buck. They do the classics very well, and are very much worth your visit!
