AMAZING customer service at this new Better Buzz location in Poway! Manager Kadian and her fellow baristas were we welcoming and super friendly. I stopped in on a rainy Wednesday afternoon and had a problem with my online order. They immediately helped me out and even gave me a free sticker. The friendliness in resolving my issue and welcoming and positive vibe was so refreshing. I had had a rushed day where everything wasn't going quite right and they gave me all the positive energy I needed right then. Ok on to the food and coffee: I ordered the ham and cheese croissant which was perfectly flaky, warm, and melty. My iced Americano was prepared deliciously with regular espresso and vanilla cold foam. It was not too sweet and the perfect pick me up. The coffee was hot and fresh, not pumped from a carafe, of course it should be at 8am. It was my first visit, used gift card from Costco, ordered médium coffee with milk. It was weak, the staff person made me a new cup with dark coffee and it was perfect. I also bought an orange chocolate chip scone. The ratio of orange and chocolate was just right. I enjoy getting coffee at Better Buzz but almost every time I go to this location, something happens to make it a bad experience. Today I ordered a $5.49 latte (reg. size). After the long speech at the speaker, I asked if he wanted my reward number. When I got to the front of the line to pay, I was handed the credit card machine asking for a tip. A tip for one coffee? I didn't even received the coffee yet. I was finally handed a cup full of foam. I asked them to add milk. Was this because I didn't tip? I expect milk/coffee in the cup when I spend $5.49 for a latte. I probably won't go to this store anymore. I'm tired of something going wrong at every visit. Way better coffee than another popular chain that shall remain anonymous... Service is lighting fast at this location despite how insanely busy it gets. If you plan on coming by during lunch and want to drink your beverage inside, there's a huge chance that one of the very few spots they have will be taken. Park in the lot next to it but the sushi place and dollar tree and just walk over. You're welcome. Also, the drive through line often seeps into the Poway Road so another reason to just mobile order and run inside real quick. I'm not a coffee drinker and was thrilled to find all the tea options that my little heart could ever desire! Here are some of my faves: -Iced Matcha Tea Latte: their default is whole milk but if you prefer something else, they offer almond and oat milk for an additional charge. I've been a long time fan of Better Buzz, and usually hit them up when I'm in San Diego. This location is in a more quiet part of SD, and has a knowledgeable staff that excels in their craft. All of their flavors are a hit, but I always need to have at least one Horchata Iced Latte with its delicious cinnamon sugar mixed in. The "Best Drink Ever" is a close second, and is one of the smoothest coffees I've ever had! You can go half on the sugar and it still keeps its flavor, too. Like other cafes, Better Buzz also makes for a great study or work area, and has a welcoming environment to get work done or plan events with friends. This location, especially when going through the drive-thru, has a really bad habit of providing less drink than what is ordered and paid for. I consistently get shortchanged by an inch on my drink, either through excessive foam or just not filling it up. Let's put this into perspective. On a 16 ounce coffee, an inch missing is probably 2-3 ounces, which equates to 13-19%. That means Better Buzz is getting an extra $0.61-0.89 per drink. Doesn't seem like much. Do this 1000x per day and that's $610-$890 extra each day, $223k-$325k each year. Maybe an inquiry needs to get filed with the County for mislabeling products? read more

My daughter and I wanted something a bit different and were sort of in the area so we decided to try out the new Better Buzz. We hit up the drive through which was convenient but getting out is not the easiest. Next time I think we will park in the main section of the parking lot (by Dollar Tree) and walk over and order inside. The drinks were really good, we got a coconut best drink ever and a horchata latte. Both iced and were super refreshing and flavorful. Better Buzz has a great variety of different food and snacks on their board so plenty to choose from and a lot more for us to come back nd try. The barista was super nice from the moment we pulled up to the time we got our beverages and took off. The wait in the drive thru is always ridiculous! Never any sense of urgency either. I also hate that I can't pay through the app and am always asked to tip on my almost $8 coffee. I have actually not tried the coffees here. I love their ham and manchego cheese croissant. The flakiness of the croissant rivals that of any overpriced French bakery. The ham and cheese are savory. The next time you come for a coffee, make sure to get a croissant as an accompaniment. You won't regret it. I would pass on the "Almond butter plus jam" (almond butter, seasonal jam, butter on thick-cut multigrain). It's almost entirely bread with not enough almond butter or jam. read more

I lived in Encinitas for a long time, and when Better Buzz opened, I honestly couldn't stand it. It was always crowded, drinks took forever, and they were more sugar and milk than coffee. So didn't get the hype. Fast forward to now, I tried the cold brew at this location while visiting friends. Delicious! No crowds, the staff was so nice, and my order was strong and ready quickly. It was also very clean inside, something I didn't really experience at the other location when it first opened years ago. I can only think of amazing, positive things to say when it comes to this Better Buzz team & location! I just started coming here a few weeks ago, and I always leave impressed and satisfied. That's why I'm a daily regular now! After my first visit, the team committed my name & order to heart right away. They are clearly detail-oriented and compassionate, and made me feel at home instantly. I can also tell they've been trained well, since they ask if I'm using the app (and encourage me to get it) every time. Similarly, they always ask if I'd like to order food or pastries and always have great recommendations! The beverage quality is through the roof, and that's a hard balance to maintain when the equipment they use requires such careful calibration and attention. It's not as easy as it looks to consistently make a great drink! They make my order so fast; it's a little shocking. It usually takes around 45 seconds to get my drink. Sometimes, they literally see my car and have it ready by the time I'm ordering, it's insane! I love the convenience of the drive through, but the interior is always clean, cool, and welcoming when I go in. It's never noisy or distracting, so I always see people working diligently in there. The patio is also great; on a nice day, there's a great breeze that goes by and it's so easy to relax out there. What's best is that this location is right next to the gym I go to daily, which makes it so hard to stay away! Now, I go daily before the gym for a little pre-workout caffeination. Other coffee bars in the area could only dream of being so amazing. They should be scared of such fierce competition! Two stars for the coffee and cute sitting area. But unfortunately every time I've been here, my coffee has taken 15 minutes or more to make. I've tried ordering ahead but it still isn't ready when I get there. I could see if you had a long line, but very rarely do I see more than 3 customers. First time i placed an online order to be picked up and it took me 15+ minutes to get to this location, it wasn't ready. Mind you, this wasn't busy when i walked in. Usually i'm greeted nicely. I kindly ordered our coffee and it wasn't busy only to wait 15 minutes for it to be completed. There was another drive thru customer that came in to complain about something so i knew it wasn't me. When placing my order i usually get asked my member/rewards account so they can see my name but this please didn't and had to back out and replace the order just to scan my I like Better Buzz account. I had to ask the server to warm my pastry only to be COLD when i got my drinks. Sadly, I won't be going back and only going to the Rancho Penasquitos location. read more

I have been here a few times now and there's always issues. Ive gotten the wrong order twice now and I thought I would give it one more try since it was my birthday and I had a free birthday drink. Today it was the service that was off putting. They said they couldn't hear me in the intercom when ordering through the drive through and I had to repeat and yell everything over and over and over again. Not sure if it's their intercom system or whoever is working just couldn't hear properly. Once I got to the window, the staff was not friendly and the lady making my drink behind her seemed angry because she was slamming things on the counter pretty aggressively. It goes without saying that cutting a customer off before they finish asking a question with "the chef is still making it" when it was about a BAKERY item that's premade was really uncalled for and making me wait when I didn't need to. I get being busy but the customer service at this location has not been the best I've received elsewhere.
