    Mango shaved ice
    Karen C.

After a delicious omakase experience at Matoi (located in the same plaza), we were looking for round two of dessert. I was pretty excited to try this spot because it's been bookmarked for over 6 years but I haven't had the chance to try it until now. Usually I would order 2-3 desserts but since we were pretty full, we just opted for the mango shaved ice. I love the cream on top and the pudding that is inside the shaved ice. They also give you a side of mango sauce and condensed milk in case it's not sweet enough for you. It was a perfect portion size for about two of us and maybe because it was a late thursday evening, there was barely any wait for us. Lots of seating inside, so it's great for big groups. I'll be back to try more shaved ice and other mango desserts during my next visit!

It could just be me, but I wasn't completely impressed with this place. Don't get me wrong the menu is absolute GOLD. I love it and there are so many options to choose from but I didn't love everything I tried. I ordered 3 macarons: pistachio, chai tea and strawberry For $2 the size was fine, the crunch was there and every bite was super soft w/ a good amount of filling. I think it was just the artificial flavoring I could taste that I didn't like. I'd probably give it like a 2/5. The mango sticky rice was actually a sweet deal. I like that it came with ice cream of your choice. I got the mango flavor and it also came with either a custard or pudding in the box w/ 3 scoops of rice and mango. The only thing I didn't like is I wish there were more mango pieces and I wasn't a fan of having to scoop it off the peel. I'm used to it being already cut and w/ way more mango. Buttt I do like the aesthetic of it it's a really cute vibe. Inside is huge with a lot of space. I love the setup of the mango tree and seating around it, it totally fits the whole theme. Lastly, I had the creme brulee vietnamese coffee. It wasn't bad or amazing, kinda in the middle. I'd rate it like a 6/10, but this is just me! Service was really good and I was able to adjust my sweetness level of the coffee. It is strong which i enjoyed but not super memorable to me. Definitely give them a try though! Overall, the style, vibe, plating, logos everything is a 10. I just wasn't wowed by anything. Would I come back? Possibly.

i've been coming here throughout the years. I'm so glad this place has stayed open. They are consistent, great service, great quality food. they improved the interior of the café and it's so cute with all the hanging mangoes, etc.

Mango lovers, this is one dessert shop you won't wanna miss! For our visit, my BFF & I got the OMG Oh-Man-Go, Black Sesame Soy Pudding, and Mango Shaved Snow. If you're looking for something on the lighter side, then I recommend the shaved snow. You're basically eating mango flavored shaved ice that's significantly lower in calories than the other desserts. I'm normally a fan of black sesame ice cream, but I would advise against it. The taste is too heavy on the cream side. The texture wasn't very smooth either, so I didn't enjoy it. The OMG Oh-Man-Go overall was a very heavy dessert. It came with 3 big sticky rice balls that you eat with the mango and coconut milk, a mango pudding, and your choice of ice cream. The Black Sesame Soy Pudding came in a soupy bowl. It had soy pudding, a large scoop of black sesame ice cream, brown sugar boba, and black sesame balls. This dessert would've tasted better without the black sesame ice cream. Skip the black sesame ice cream and maybe you'll enjoy your desserts more than we did. We might come back, but know what to avoid next time.

OMG!!! I've heard about this place and finally got a chance to drop by!! It wasn't too crowded when we arrived but by the time we received our dessert, the line was almost out of the door!! This establishment reminded me of a shaved ice place in Seattle, but THIS place is so much better!!!! Ordered the MNGO Kakigori -mango flavored ice mango pudding fresh mango house cream sauce to share. It was soooo DELICIOUS!! The dessert was amazingly light and just flavorful!!! Next time I'm not sharing!! lol I highly recommend this place!! I'm surely coming back soon to try other items in the menu!!!! Thank you

Went to MNGO cafe with a friend for my birthday a few days ago. I had been wanting some mango sticky rice and had never tried this place before. The way they described how MNGO cafe does it was "it's a presentation". They were right. When you eat in-store, your order comes on a wooden plate and each item has its own section. We got the OMG plate which has one slice of mango, sticky rice, mango pudding and ice cream. You get chose what flavor you want and we both chose mango. The presentation, A+. This was so cute. I don't like my food to touch so as the ice cream began to melt, I was moving things around but that just means you gotta eat the ice cream first. I think next time I would ask for the ice cream in a cup cause it spilled all over the table. I think the plate is only high enough to keep it for the presentation. We went on a Thursday around 1p. There was only one family present. The staff were super chill. There is lots of seating (the have those nice bench seats too). They have so many options and of things that are completely different. They also serve milk tea which is something I would not have assumed! I'll have to come back and try something else.

I was cravings a mango smoothie, Googled this place near me, Mango cream smoothie peaked my interest. I walked in, it was pretty busy, there was only one person ahead of me, I ordered. I waited about 5 mins. Smoothie was pretty good, I like the coconut cream that was added. There were lots of options to choose from, I will be going back.

I came here super excited to try the mango desserts here, but it really disappointed me. They have many mango desserts, so maybe I got the wrong one. However, such a simple dessert shouldn't be hard to make. MNGO Sago - I got 25% sweetness and it was SUPER sweet. There was a lot of sago and the drink itself was very thick. I liked the coconut flavor, but the sweetness was overwhelming. The mango flavor tasted syrupy. I honestly wish I got something else but I can only write a review based on what I had here. I would give it another shot but get another dessert.

MNGO Cafe is good if you're really fiending for a sweet, sweet treat. This was my second time coming by and trying out their menu with family. I love the large mango tree in the middle of the building. This spot is always usually busy, but the wait isn't too bad. Their menu is intensely mango-focused, which I personally love. The last time I was here, I had their sticky rice mango smoothie, which was definitely on the sweet side but good, and the MNGO sago. The MNGO sago was super tasty from what I remember. This second time around, my family decided to split a couple of the kakigori as well as try out non-mango items. The MNGO and strawberry cheesecake kakigori were both so yum! The shave ice was so soft and the flavors were super balanced. We tried two of their matcha drinks- the pure ceremonial matcha and the matcha latte. The pure matcha was great- the perfect sweetness level. The matcha latte was way too sweet.

Feb 2026 mango cheesecake - not as good as before. Hoping it's an one off
    Karen P.

When I had their mango cheesecake the first time in Sept 2025 it was the perfect cheesecake flavor, creamy, topped with fresh sweet mangos, and the delicious mango sauce that came with it was love at first bite. However I just revisited them again a few days ago and ordered the same cheesecake again. It was so far from the one I had back in Sept. Not sure what changed - was it the mango not in season, different chef, different recipe? The cheesecake did not taste fresh this time and the mango tasted a little artificial. Something is off for sure. For now my rating is a 3.5/5 but will round up to 4 stars.

Went on a Friday evening, plenty of parking but I know for sure this parking lot gets really packed on Saturdays and Sundays. I was really surprise how spacious it was when I entered the cafe. I like that they have other stuff than mango in their menu & the prices are really good. Great staff and very clean cafe. The mango tree and decors stood out to me; very beautiful. Fast customer service. I liked everything I got there. Definitely will return again.

MNGO Cafe is a great go-to spot in Kearny Mesa for mango lovers. The place is spacious, with plenty of seating and a cool mango tree right in the middle that gives it a fun, tropical vibe without feeling over-the-top. The staff here are really helpful--they let me sample several flavors and took the time to describe each one, explaining the taste profiles and sweetness levels so I could decide without guessing. Made choosing easy and enjoyable. I went with the creamy mango sticky rice ice cream, and it was spot-on: super smooth and rich, with that perfect mango flavor coming through clearly, plus the sticky rice adding nice texture. Not overly sweet--just balanced and refreshing. Hit the spot perfectly. If you're in the Convoy area and craving mango-inspired desserts, this place delivers. Solid service, nice atmosphere, and tasty treats. Will be back!

02/05/26 My first time visiting this place. Mango Sago ($11.95) was refreshing. Huge portion, shared it with my son and still had some to take home. I would have enjoyed it even more if the dessert was a little colder. Loved the mango decor! Fun place to catch up with friends or do some work. Plenty of parking. We came on a Thursday afternoon. There was no wait.

For example, some other specialty bakeries/shops are charging similar prices for cakes and cheesecakes that are much simpler. In comparison, Extraordinary Dessert cakes take 3-4 days to make, have 6-8 alternating layers, and are typically adorned with edible gold and/or flowers. The key is to find which items you like and which are okay to pass on next time. What we ried this time: -Match Misu Cake (7/10): ricotta cake layers soaked in matcha and layered with marscapone whipped cream. This one was pretty good and ranks in my middle to high range. I only wish there was more matcha flavor (maybe if you dine in and get the sauce, this would help) or the matcha was paired with another flavor ... either go fruity (maybe a raspberry sauce, strawberry pieces, white peach pieces, or like a peach oolong cream layer) or go chocolately/coffee (maybe had some crushed up chocolate covered espresso beans). My go to's: -Ivoire Royale (10/10) - my ultimate favorite still. If you like light desserts, white chocolate, berries, and moist vanilla cake, thus one is for you. Classy and unpretentious -Shangrila (10/10) - my other favorite and will make you feel like a princess with all the pink chocolate curls. A little bit adventurous and innocently elegant. Ones to skip: -Au Chocolate / La Bete Noire / Dame Chocolate - get the Viking instead. That's my favorite of all their chocolate cakes -Lemon ricotta - get the Passionfruit Ricotta instead -Torta misu - the matcha misu is better. The tortilla misuse made me want a regular piece of tirmaisu than a cake version -Coconut cream - not bad, not amazing though

The drinks are really good. I always get mine half sweet, and the flavors are consistently great. They also have a ton of cute, picturesque desserts. They're a bit too sweet for my taste, but you can tell a lot of care goes into making them and they're definitely tasty. Parking can be tricky downtown, and it can get busy with lines, but it's totally worth it for the drinks, desserts, and overall ambiance. FYI, they have a new location up north in Scrips Poway, it's cute but slightly different aesthetic (umm more industrial) and is in a strip mall, so, way more parking!
