Fox Point is a great place to spend the day, and the restaurant has a clean, inviting atmosphere. I ordered the chilaquiles, and the presentation was excellent. Unfortunately, they didn't have much flavor. I enjoy trying chilaquiles wherever I go, and the sauce tasted more like enchilada sauce than traditional chilaquiles, so it's probably not something I'd order again. That said, the service was excellent--friendly, attentive, and one of the highlights of the visit. read more

The ambiance was great and the servers were exceptional, but finding a dead fly completely ruined the experience. Yes, they were gracious and replaced immediately (with the chicken sandwich instead). Ooof. I've enjoyed coming to FPF with friends and love the drinks and goodies to purchase. I've been wanting to try Haven for a very long time but waited for a reason to go. My 40th birthday was coming up so we made a reservation. First off, it was on Father's Day so it was super busy. No parking! We went down to golf course to park. They had live music which I love, but music choice was just terrible. It sounded like a rave. When I got to the other side of the patio facing the farm, I thought we would not hear it well. Sadly, you could and the music from the restaurant was also playing ("highway to hell"-not kidding!) it was super over stimulating and uncomfortable to say the least. The music died down eventually, but the sun was in our faces for hours. It was hard to look up and we all had to rotate sides to take turns being blinded. A nice see thru shade would have been so helpful. Our waiter was nice but overly chill. He didn't show much emotion or care that we were there. It also took a long time to order and get food. The restaurant wasn't crazy packed btw, it was the event at the grass that caused no parking. Lastly, the food. We had 3 kiddos but no kids meals available. A spaghetti was offered, but we are gluten free. We had to purchase a $40 tri tip to share. The salad I ordered tasted like salt and arugula only...A few peach pieces here and there and the dressing was some sort of cheese that tasted like saltwater. I'm not a picky eater, but this was disappointing. The tri tips were of good size, but just okay. Potatoes were just okay too. I was given a complementary apple donut dessert (which was kind) but tasted no bueno. The jojos ice cream on top was bomb but the chutney underneath was not good and the donut was dry. Overall, highly disappointed with the vibe, taste, and service! I feel like it's suited best for a couple and to come on a quieter night would have made it a better experience. Vegan and a few vegetarian dishes. I had the only vegan main dish on the July dinner menu: beet ribbons pasta with falafel balls, pretty good. My dining partner enjoyed a vegetarian burger with sweet potato fries. The Patty was pretty much made out of the same ingredients as my falafel spinach balls. He said it was on the soft side but good. We mentioned it was our anniversary and received two complementary glasses of nonalcoholic sparkling wine and an assortment of berries topping a delicious Vegan coconut Corn-bread like giant cookie, easily big enough for two people. The cookie was soft and show you one of the best I've ever had. Nice waiter very attentive. We each also ordered a non-alcoholic drink from the three choices available with the early diners 4-6pm $25 happy hour special. Neither one of us really liked our drink. I would suggest iced tea instead. We ate indoors with a nice spacious table as we arrived early there is outdoor seating with nice views the property in both directions. read more

We really enjoyed our first visit here. RESERVATIONS: you have to put down a $25 deposit to reserve, and the menu can change each day. So we have never gotten around to coming. Same day there were still openings for prime time so we called and found out what was on the menu and gave it a try. OUTDOOR SEATING: it was good we realized that patio seating is pretty much all picnic benches. We did not want to pay fine dining prices to have chairs without back. There is one table of eight that does have backs but it was already taken. So Kevin set us up, after we called, with a two top next to the big, open, sliding doors. Almost like being outside as far as air. DRINKS: nice cocktail menu. I got the pasture punch, which was quite delicious. Vodka and blackberries, served on the rocks. Tasty and refined. APPETIZERS: man, the food here is so healthy! Seriously. We got the Fox farms salad, which was huge and dressed lightly. The vegetables were from the farm and super fresh. Definitely a virtuous salad. I wouldn't call it a flavor bomb but I would get it again! Ditto with the beet hummus. Not a knock your socks off cuisine kind of dish, but exceptionally fresh and very tasty. Also came with crudités from the farm. You could stick with plant-based eating and have it be super healthy. But we also got bread service. The bread was more on the hearty side than the French-trained boulangerie style you might get at other restaurants at this price. But it was still nice. A little cornbread, and a big white boule. It came with two kinds of butters, an herb one that I wasn't crazy about, and a pumpkin which was delicious. Appetizers had come out very quickly. We had a bigger lag until our entrées came. My spouse liked his steak. I got the fish of the day which was Seabass. It was perfectly cooked and I liked the kombucha squash beurre blanc. It also came with wild rice which was very earthy and virtuous, though I was eyeing my sweetie's mashed potatoes. We were too full for dessert, and the dessert choices also did not call to us. But we enjoyed our meal a lot. The atmosphere is definitely loud inside and the tables are close to each other, which makes it not as good a choice for a special occasion at this price than some other fine dining places in North County. But it was healthy, definitely farm to table, and refined. We will look forward to returning. I wish they had some seats with backs on the patio instead of the picnic tables! Oh my goodness. Such the beautiful place to eat. This is definitely a place to check out for the ambience and vibe. It was so gorgeous to eat here. We came for brunch on June 8th and made a reservation via opentable. We came with our infant to meet our friends. They had a high chair available and were provided some carrots and cucumbers upon request. Elevator was available to take up as we had a stroller. Parking was limited in the parking lot and we ended up having to park on the other side of the fence of where all the houses were and walked over. The smoked and carrot hummus was amazing! We pretty much licked the plate clean. Ingredients involved were fried garbanzo beans, tahini, cabbbage dust, and watermelon radish. My other half got the smash burger was hearty with the prime brandt beef patty, cheddar cheese, and secret sauce. I got the steak sandwich which I thought was delicious. However wished that the meat was chopped into pieces instead of chunks as it was a bit difficult to take a bite. Our friends got a french omelette, which was neat on presentation but we all thought it was smaller than expected. Very beautiful location and scenery inside. Went on the farm tour prior to eating and it was very fun. Came in for brunch and I really like the seasonal rotating menu, definitely entices us to come back. Our server was very attentive as well as the guy leading the expo. The team did great checking in on us asking if everything was fine. There was a minor issue with something I ordered but our server had a great response and made sure everything was fixed and went above and beyond, felt really genuine in makin sure we have the best experience. Wonderful food. The potatoes were just simply yummy. The aoli is so good! Also, it's rare that ketchup made in house is good, but the chef hit it out of the park. More memorable than the food was the staff. Everyone I spoke with is kind and helpful. I got the impression that the staff enjoy their place of work. I really wanted to like Haven since we come to the market downstairs for pizza, tacos, beers, and cocktails 2x a month. We invited some friends to meet us for brunch this past weekend to share in the excitement. Our server was very nice, knew all the answers to the questions about the menu, and was very good. We sat out on the back patio to enjoy the view of the farm and of the golf course. It was a perfect San Diego day. I found the bloody mary to be very lean for $15. It came in a small glass and was packed pretty tightly with ice. The flavor was very nice and the house made olives were a good touch, but for 15 bucks, give me more liquid. I took about 5 sips off of the drink and it was gone. My wife ordered the pasture punch and made the same comments. Our friends ordered wine and were happy with their choices. I was super hungry and ordered a bacon-o-tizer. This was some of the best bacon I've ever eaten. There was a LOT of bacon on the plate, it was thick as I've seen bacon come, and it was perfectly crispy where even the fat was rendered down perfectly. I had high hopes for our meal based off this bacon. When the rest of the food came, everyone at the table complained that there was no seasoning. My friend and I both ordered the chilaquiles - we only tasted enchilada sauce. There was no crema/sour cream and there was no salt on the dish at all. My wife complained that the eggs that came with her pancakes had no flavor and our friend that got the benedict complained that there was a noticeable absence of lemon flavor in the hollandaise. The winter veggies that came with some of the dishes had no salt, pepper, or other seasoning to them. There wasn't anything bad with the food, per se, but there wasn't anything yummy or exciting about it either. It simply lacked any seasoning. No one finished their plate. We ended up having to go elsewhere to share a dish to become full. Since my wife and I invited our friends, we felt awful that we suggested a bunch that ended up costing $250 for 4 people and no one truly enjoyed the food. We decided we'll stick to the pizza, tacos, beers, and cocktails downstairs. They are better and WAY more affordable. read more

Had my wedding ceremony and reception here at Fox Point Farms and it had been the BEST experience. The food was exquisite and the service was impeccable. They were quick and attentive to all of my guests at the wedding. They communicated effectively with me while i was socializing with my guests and made sure everyone's waters and wine were filled promptly :) i had the chicken and wow, TASTY. I tried my husbands short rib and also thought it was incredibly tasty. The foxy salad was really fresh and I could tell it came right from their garden. I hadn't had anything like it. The space had such a nice ambiance. It was a wee crammed for 33 people but not enough to complain about it. Sunset views on the terrace were so beautiful. They really did a fantastic job with the architecture and the setup of the restaurant with the other buildings. Such a great spot for a micro wedding. Reasonably priced and well communicated during the planning. They were able to move things around for me when I had to change my ceremony location the DAY BEFORE my wedding. We were so looking forward to this meal. We had heard great things about this restaurant. When we arrived, we really liked the area. A courtyard where families were watching a movie. The giant garden where they grow the food for the restaurant. It's a really cool area. But unfortunately, the restaurant did not hold up. We sat down and it took a bit of time before they came and got our drink order. Not a big deal, but not a great start. We ordered a few appetizers, including the fresh bread which was humongously underwhelming. I was so excited for fresh warm bread and homemade butter and it just did not hit. The meatballs were very good though. I had the fish special which was good but not great, no complaints really. The wife had the chicken, which was very good and I would order that again. My main problem is anything you ordered when it was delivered, They come to the table and said who had the XXX. When you're paying $100 a person for a meal, they should know where to deliver the food or drink. That is just poor training on management part. Heck I waited tables in college and know guest 1234 and how to write it on the check. I guess after the bread was underwhelming, I was looking for reasons to not enjoy and the fact that every single dish or drink they brought, they had to ask who it went to just pissed me off. It's not that hard to know where to deliver food and drink at the table. Just lazy management, lazy training, lazy employees. I was in the area with a friend during prime lunch time on a Saturday. We came here with the intention of going to Haven. The parking lot was crowded but someone told us we could park in a spot that didn't look like a regular parking spot if we were there to go to Haven so we did. It was quite confusing to find Haven not busy at all. I think apart from us there were only 2 other occupied tables. It worked out for us because our food came out quite quickly and we got stellar service from the friendly staff. We tried the carrot lemon pancakes and they were SOOOOOO good! My friend had hers with fried chicken and fries and I had mine with the fluffiest scrambles eggs, the yummiest smoked bacon and a delicious root vegetable hash. read more

Tried the 5 course plus palate cleaner tasting menu for my first time at Haven. It's $89 per person with $45 for the optional wine pairings which we didn't add. I appreciated that many of the vegetables including the carrots, mixed greens, beets, and cabbage were grown on the farm. The flavor combinations were interesting such as the hot honey carrots with tahini and the Gochujang cabbage. The cabbage was my favorite dish and probably the best cabbage I've ever had. The only choices come from 3 entrees and we tried one of each. The Tri Tip steak was cooked well at medium rare with a fresh chimichurri sauce. The striped bass was good but the rice underneath was flavorless and mushy. All of the courses were good except for the dessert. The regular dessert option was an apple cider spiced donut with ice cream and brandy caramel sauce. The gluten free dessert provided to me was a beet flan with the caramel sauce. I actually do enjoy beets but this dish really missed the mark especially when calling it dessert. The texture was coarse for a flan and was extremely bitter with a strong earthy beet flavor that lingered. There was no sweetness and I would guess that a majority of people would not consider this dessert or enjoy it. Honestly this was a disappointing end to what was overall a good meal. I would have been much happier with just a scoop of vanilla ice cream. We dined on a Wednesday night and were the only party not sitting at the bar or outside on the patio. The staff was friendly and explained all the dishes to us. I liked the food in general although a few components had room for improvement. I'd revisit Haven but probably order off the regular menu next time. read more

Crazy, came here with a big group of people. So excited to try cocktails, food , and enjoy the atmosphere available to the community. I love what Fox is doing. I had the opportunity to eat at Haven. We ordered the oysters to start. Man, horrible. Slimy, not fresh and my wife almost threw up. Idk what happened. Not a good start. Got the wine and was very pleased with the options and variety of the menu. Ordered lots of other food on the menu and seemed to be safe but I am shocked at the oysters. I would not recommend. I've been all over the world and these are not it. I'm sorry. I love the market and the experiences they provide for the general public so I will give them 3 stars. I love Fox Point Farms and have been dozens of times, but this was my first visit to Haven. Im sad to leave a poor review because I was excited to check it out. On Friday night, the vibe was great -- there was live music on the lawn the lawn was packed! Since I was dining solo, I chose to sit upstairs at the bar, expecting a more social experience. Unfortunately, the service fell short. The bartender barely acknowledged me when I sat down and never checked in on me after serving my food. He was somewhat friendly and attentive to the guests sitting next to me, which made the lack of interaction more obvious. The bar was not busy. I dine solo all the time and am very comfortable doing so. I'm friendly and my expectations are pretty average - basic attentiveness and hospitality. The food was good, but the service made the experience feel unwelcoming. Because of this, I wouldn't recommend Haven for solo diners, and I probably won't return to the upstairs. read more

Located at Fox Point Farms in Encinitas, we went to check out this spot as a potential location for our rehearsal dinner at the recommendation of my future sister-in-law. I had read quite a few mixed reviews on the restaurant, but, respectfully, I would disagree. This is another location that hasn't been open very long, so maybe they were working through the new restaurant quirks, however we had a pretty good experience here.  To start, the restaurant itself is really beautiful. Light wood with black iron accents, not to mention the stunning bar at the center of the room. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side, offering a more intimate dining experience. Understanding this is a farm to table, the prices were elevated so expect to pay more on average for some classic dishes. As per usual, we kept the orders simple - 1. Bread & Butter (served with a duet of butters) 2. Farm Caesar  3. New York Strip Steak  Starting in order, the bread and butter was so different in the best way! The duet of butters were a pesto butter and a fig butter - both with their own unique flavor. Neither of us could pick a favorite, we really just enjoyed them both equally.  Moving onto the Caesar, I definitely enjoyed this one more than my fiancé, as again, it wasn't your standard Caesar. Served with kale and freshly chopped anchovies, I found this to be delicious. Fiance on the other hand hasn't gotten on board with the fresh anchovies in a salad yet, but was easily able to pick around them.  Lastly, the New York Strip we had cooked Medium rare and the cook on it was pretty much perfect. I will note that the meat was less tender than desired, however the flavor punch from the red wine reduction paired with the whipped potatoes and meat made for a delicious bite of food.  I would be remiss not to comment on the service - our waiter, who was knowledgeable, personable and attentive (in the not annoying way) had learned we recently got engaged and brought out complimentary glasses of champagne for the two of us. I've been here several times in the past few months for brunch, dinner, and happy hour and each time has been wonderful! From the other reviews, it seems that they had a learning curve when they first opened, but looks like they have worked it all out for the most part. They have great happy hour deals such as steak frites with a glass of wine for $20 that I don't see advertised on their website, HH is from 4-6pm Wednesday-Friday and all evening on Mondays. We tried the smoked carrot hummus over summer (although looks like they just changed this to beet hummus for fall so will have to give that a try), farm Caesar salad, and gulf of California prawns for dinner, which were all very fresh and flavorful. For brunch options we have tried their bakehouse granola, steak sandwich, French toast, eggs Benedict, and veggie frittata. We enjoyed all of these except the French toast was too dense for my liking, and had a slightly burnt taste on the ends from the caramelization. They charge for parking on the weekends, but you can park close to the golf course and walk over if you don't wish to pay. Service has always been very friendly, and the decor both inside and the view of the farm outside is beautiful. Small things they could improve on: 1. It would be nice for them to post their current menus on their website instead of just sample menus. I totally get farm to table means their menu changes frequently which I love, but a lot of restaurants who have this concept are still keeping their website menus updated 2. The French toast-the bread is too dense, it needs help 3. When we came most recently for brunch this past Sunday, there were a lot of flies at our table. Okay I secretly don't want to post a review here because I don't want too many people finding out about how good this place is. Like the most calming environment to enjoy dinner at. In fact, it healed my anxiety. Went in for happy hour and was genuinely really happy. It's easy to get off your phone here, staff is very intuitive and relaxed but pay close attention to you so you have everything you need. It's kind of what Wildland wishes they can could accomplish. I wouldn't recommend this place! The ambiance was cute and trendy. I liked the ceilings. Our server was very talkative. The menu is somewhat limited but I understand this. Unfortunately my group and I felt that it was a tad overpriced for what we got. The service from the BOH was the main issue, as the food took way too long to arrive. It's not our servers fault and it was nice how he apologized multiple times for the wait. He said also the bartender lost our drink ticket so the drinks took long also. Stopped here on a whim since I was in the area and they offer a tasting menu. The staff was kind enough to take us as a walk in for the tasting menu. It seems that for the tasting menu, it is preferred that you make a reservation which is understandable. Much like the other reviews state, the inside of the restaurant is absolutely gorgeous and looks like it would be a fun place to grab drinks and bites if you're not looking for a full sit down dinner. The tasting menu is $89 per person with an optional $49 wine pairing. The menu is a prix fixe with a choice of 3 entrees depending on preference/dietary restrictions. The chefs and sommelier really knocked it out of the park. For me, it rivals experiences I've had in Michelin guide and starred restaurants. Our server (I didn't get his name, I'm sorry!) and Kevin the restaurant manager were super personable and added to the experience. It was more casual versus stuffy, but they managed to maintain a level of professionalism. Overall, I was really blown away. If you have the opportunity to check out Haven, and specifically the tasting menu, I cannot recommend it enough. read more

I think this place has definitely addressed some of the previous not so great reviews. We came for dinner on a Saturday night and what a hidden gem! First off, the property is gorgeous, even if you don't go for the restaurant, check out the little market for some local beers and picnic on the large lawn. It was so lively and fun to see a community all hanging out. The restaurant is beautifully designed. Think open air cabin with fires and a cool breeze. I do think the barrel tables are not super functional for a sit down meal but just grabbing some cocktails they work. Now for dinner we ordered the oysters, a caesar salad, the lamb ragu, and the short rib. I feel like we waited a little while for our food to come out but it was still hot when it got to us. The meat was cooked perfectly and was super tender. They said the caesar dressing is made in house and I thought it was amazing! The lamb ragu felt like a perfect comfort meal with a glass of red wine. I was very impressed. The service was very attentive. You can tell they are very passionate about the farm itself. The Croque madame was so unique and delicious! It was French toast with ham and cheese, gravy, and an egg on top. This was a daily special, but I hope it becomes one of their regular dishes. The steak sandwich was too rare which made it hard to easily eat. The overall ambiance is amazing. Beautiful restaurant with a views on each side. Service was great too. We were so excited to try this place but were very disappointed. The prices of food these days have first off just become crazy, we were willing to pay a little more thinking the produce comes from their farm. The salad was inedible, however, as there were without exaggeration at least 20 whole anchovies in one portion of ceaser. I've never done this but I literally piled them up in the bowl to show the server and she just said ok good to know. If I'm going to pay for bread it better be amazing, nope. You never know what you're going to get and even the toppings were lacking in flavor. Neither the chicken, short rib or my daughters way overcooked fish stood out unfortunately: when you're paying over $300 for 4 people with no alcohol you expect to walk away with a somewhat decent meal. read more

Sat at the bar on a Saturday afternoon for drinks and food. Absolutely love the style and vibe of this Fox Point Farms upstairs restaurant. Bartender was very attentive and made our drinks perfectly to our specs. Amazing selection of tequila and other alcohols. Drinks were so tasty. For food we ordered a Nicoise salad and Prawns. Both were so tasty. The bartender was tellimg us that a percentage of the food served is grown at the Farm. Bartender even offered us a plastic cup for the rest of our drink while we wandered around the property. Would highly recommend this restaurant. read more

We went for the first Monday Happy Hour. The service and ambiance were great. Service was quick and our waitress was lovely! Pricing was also great and competitive. The property and restaurant are absolutely stunning. The food was delicious. However, the only issue was consistency. Two of our party got the steak frites, and one plate had twice as much steak as the other plate. The cook on the steak was inconsistent too, where one plate was medium-rare to rare, and the other plate was medium. These temps weren't asked for, this was how they came. Additionally, the fries I received were undercooked and soggy, while the fries for the rest of the table were perfectly crispy. These are small things but they speak to larger inconsistency. Again, the food was delicious outside of the inconsistency in preparation. Overall a really great experience. A few small tweaks here and there would elevate that. read more

Fantastic venue! We spent a lovely Father's Day at Haven. The indoor/outdoor restaurant is open and airy located above the market, taco stand, pizza kitchen and farm with views of the neighboring area and on-site activities. The bartenders and servers are kind and helpful, and the food enjoyable - especially the halibut ceviche!! A flavorful dish that really stood out. The pricing is reasonable, portions moderate to large; for the food, venue, & atmosphere Haven is definitely worth a visit! read more

We had high hopes for Haven, a farm to market in Encinitas near Quail Gardens, but the night did not go as expected. We got seated in their hard metal chairs and honestly, while cool looking, the chairs are uncomfortable. Eh. Not a fan. The Catch of the Day, halibut, was overcooked and hard, and we were offered a redo. So maybe 15-20 minutes later, another Catch of The Day comes out, much better this time. I didn't get the Catch of the Day personally, because I don't like 'wild' rice, or black rice. But my boyfriend didn't eat it, either. But he did eat the second halibut, cooked nicely. My dish was the Short Ribs, with good flavor. But I did have to cut off a golf ball size of fat off the meat before eating. The cook didn't trim the fat off the short ribs before cooking. So be warned. The menu changes constantly since the food is sourced local, and may be growing in the nearby gardens. The location is great and the entire area downstairs is super cool. They have a market that is Disneyland for adults who love food. I liked the vibe, there werw families, young and old. read more
