I was very excited to try this restaurant because I was very intrigued by its farm to table concept. Unfortunately it was disappointing. What I liked: There was an adorable little kitty who was greeting visitors as they entered the premises before going upstairs. (Not sure who the kitty belongs to but he/she was an adorable greeter). The layout and decor of the restaurant is very nice and feels cozy and reminded me of restaurants I have visited in Alaska. The server we had was sweet, helpful and really good at her job. The manager was nice and he comped our meal because of all the issues. And now for the bad news: They charge you for bread and butter - not complimentary. The menu descriptions are not very accurate for what you receive or they are vague. We were encouraged to try their mocktails but upon reading the descriptions we couldn't really figure out what they were or what they would taste like. The descriptions used words like: cheery, invigorating, earthy, which told us nothing. We told the server that and she agreed with us. We did try the "beetish" mocktail. It was different, okay, but nothing we would order again and it was $15 and tiny. It came in a glass about the size of a large shot glass. We ordered soup as appetizers. The portions were very large but the soups were only lukewarm. I had the cauliflower soup and it was too thick and grainy and not hot enough. My friend had the butternut squash soup which looked better than mine but she only said it was okay and her's was lukewarm also. For entrees, I ordered the lamb and my friend ordered the daily catch. Our entrees were also only lukewarm. She said her fish was very tasty otherwise. It was odd because the fish size was pretty good but it only came wth a grain and no veggies. It was VERY expensive. The lamb dish was small! I got 4 tiny medallions of lamb (about an 1"x1" in size). The inside was raw and the outside was lukewarm. It came with a tiny bit of parsnip puree (which was delicious but cold not hot) and some sort of red sauce which had a strong ketchup flavor to it. I don't think it was meant to be a ketchup sauce but it tasted strongly of ketchup. It also had 2 tiny tiny roasted carrots on the plate. Also expensive but not as much as the daily catch. We did complain about the food temps and they attempted to make it right. They fixed the fish dish but the lamb dish came back colder than the first round. They said they had redone each dish but I think they just set the lamb dish on the counter while the remade the fish dish..... Although the staff was apologetic and comped the meal it still doesn't make me want to return again. The prices are very high for what you get and there are not many items on the menu to choose from. Haven, the new restaurant coming out of Fox Point Farms in Encinitas, takes farm-to-table to a whole new level. This restaurant really felt like a unique experience, and the surrounding spaces on the same lot (brewery, market, seating/firepit areas, lawn spaces with games) made me really want to come back and see it in the daytime! The restaurant itself had a cozy yet upscale cabin vibe, and the food was pretty tasty as well. We ordered the charred oysters and market salad to start, and our order got mixed up so we ended up getting a free half-dozen raw oysters as well! The Jamaican-inspired half-chicken and lamb ragu were both very good, and the drinks alone would have made me come back. I thought both oyster dishes could have been better, but maybe that's just my personal taste. the only other disappointment was with the ambiance - the restaurant was beautiful don't get me wrong, but I was really thrown off with the overhead lighting that was way harsh for the space. This is spot has all the vibes, all the flavor, and great service making it the perfect date night spot. We enjoyed their Farmhouse Old Fashion that had hints of peach and just the right amount of flavor to compliment the Rye, and the Father's Favorite which is the perfect gin-based cocktail for anyone looking for a lightly sweet fruit-forward cocktail. We moved onto appetizers and enjoyed the Gulf of California Prawns and Grilled Carrots Al Pastor. The flavors were unreal on both dishes, the seasonings and spices popped in each dish making them a must have. Next we enjoyed Rum Braised Short Rib that was atop risotto that was cooked to perfection and the Local Catch which was Halibut with forbidden rice and crisped kale. My only downfall was that I didn't take note of our servers name to give her a shout out! She was great, described the dishes perfectly and was very attentive. I enjoyed everything about this restaurant. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The food was amazing there was something for everyone in the group which is hard to do between food allergies and autoimmune triggers and it was delicious. Haven is the upstairs restaurant at Fox Point Farms. What is this place? Is this a restaurant? Cafe? Park? Coffee shop? Grocery store? Community center? Brewery? Well, yes, it is. The brewery is not a brewery to visit. It's a building where they make the beer. The cafe is a walk up order counter with open seating outside in a park setting. There's a playground for dogs and kids. You can order a cocktail, kombucha, beer, or coffee and just chill out outside. It's like a huge backyard that caters to kids. Lots of kids. If you don't like kids, go upstairs to the fine dining area. This review is for Haven only. This place is getting their footing! The service was amazing. The hosts, who seated us as a 4-top even though the rez was made for a 2-top, thanks so much-- were professional and kind. (They must have retrained that other rude host from other reviews.) I wish I got their names, but it was 8/30 at 4PM. Our server was super friendly, patient, and he had a great sense of humor! Thanks Frank! The food is fresh, but I'm used to eating straight from the garden, so that's not special to me. It's literally farm to table produce if that tickles your fancy. The menu changes a bit, so expect nothing you have seen here. It looks like the bison burger is a staple, and it is just perfectly juicy and fresh. Order it! We also had the ribeye, but for the price, $62, it was small and lean for that cut, meh. The cocktails are crafted to perfection! Kudos, barkeep. We ordered an array over our three-hour stay. See pics below. The dessert was ridiculously amazing, but that came after a lot of cocktails, so the name escapes me...banana bread-ish yumminess. I LOVE the concept - local, fresh, sustainably sourced. Beautiful ambiance. However, they do need to find another head chef/redo the menu. Things are overcooked or dry, with food being under flavored or having improperly balanced flavors. To be honest, for me, it's still pretty acceptable for American style cuisine that isn't super heavy (over relying on salt and butter to make stuff taste good) There really is so much room for improvement - the local herbal and vegetable ingredients are different, bright, and carry tons of potential for creative dishes! The local sustainable sourced meat is good quality stuff. But the execution is not there and not doing justice to the ingredients. read more

We wanted to have a good experience here. Although it was new at the time, we had higher expectations for the food and service. First of all, the service was not the fault of the staff, as they seemed to be stretched thin. However, the food was inconsistent at best, needed more seasoning at times, and less at others. I know it's a new restaurant, and I'm always one to give them the benefit of the doubt, but we went there after I thought they may have worked out the kinks. Vegan friends, sadly this is not the place for us, unless you're not hungry at all and just want the ambiance (which is on point!). They suggested a salad which had no grains or protein of any sort. It was literally a side salad, but sold as an individual entree salad for $15. The hostess accommodated a table that worked better with our kiddos. 4/5- food - the presentation was excellent. We started with the crudo, the watermelon, and the breads. The butter that comes with the breads was excellent and unique. We had a black garlic one and a spicy carrot. The butter changes often our server said! Breads themselves were just ok. The watermelon feta and the crudo were both super flavorful. I think the crudo was my favorite. For mains we got the shishito hummus, pork belly and the bison burger. The pork belly was so unique and the jerk mole combo worked really well. They should sell the sauce and marinade. I would totally buy it! The bison burger was ok. I think the fries kind of threw me off. The shishito hummus was super fresh and I would totally get this again. We ended with the lavender plantain carmel cake dessert which was just ok. Drinks- the wine offerings were great downstairs but we didn't have anyhing up stairs! 4/5 - value- we did get a lot of food, and we were full at the end, but more than we usually spend! This was our second time at Haven, this time for brunch that they just started serving. I really want this restaurant to succeed; it's in our neighborhood. But brunch was less than impressive. My eggs benedict was served cold and one person in our party of four never received her entree. They brought it in a to go container and still charged her. This was unacceptable. While they waived the corkage fee on the bottle of wine we brought, they were light on apologies. Think about that. She sat and watched the rest of us eat. Given the long wait to get our order compounded by one meal short, it's clear they have service issues. I'll watch future Yelp reviews to see if this improves but for now my dining dollars will be spent elsewhere. read more

Went with family to try it out for a future event. Very disappointed from the parking lot to the table. Parking=too crowded and no clearly marked spots. People getting angry while someone else taking the spot they waited for. Entrance=we were seated on the second level and had someone who could not climb stairs. No signage to an elevator down a dark hallway labeled "Authorized Personnel Only". The ADA police would love that for the only elevator in the building...took it anyway. Hostesses=4 standing around talking and not acknowledging us or leading us to a table. Wait staff=2 for the whole level. Menu=Not the same as what is online. Tap water was awful, and coffee luke warm. French toast orders arrived charred black. When asked to return them, the waitress' response was "I thought I smelled something burned." Then why serve them? Some of the plates were good, others mediocre. Some just odd. Atmosphere=ruined by the smell of the burning pizzas being cooked outside under the restaurant. This place specializes in charred black food! Overall no one was wild enough to want to return. Our impression was a restaurant poorly managed and unexperienced staff. Our dog, Teddy...yes, you can take your doggie....didn't like their wooden floor....so Brooklyn shared (with the help of her Manager) the floor mat with him to lie on. Thank you, Brooklyn, so sweet of you. Now, on to our meals...ALL were excellent....Order the bread and butter plate and take home....for breakfast.....A very amazing place....almost magical....Of course, all FARM FRESH.....I usually don't order steaks out, but this was the exception.....and the braised short ribs....delicious with great rich flavor. Visited a while back, for a sandwich at the market, but it was too crowded as they had just opened up. Got around to going back last night. Wife was worried cause she read some of the negative reviews, but you know, you can't always trust what you read on Yelp! Valentine's day weekend had a 7 or 8 course fixed menu. Was fantastic. Cauliflower soup had no issues. All the dishes had vibrant notes and it was a nice evening to be on the balcony looking over their small farm, where an assortment of our vegetables were coming from. I think it was after 2 of the courses that all concerns about the negative reviews were eliminated...some people just gonna be that way. But we felt the farm to table community they are trying to build out there is definitely worth supporting. And quite a tasty treat at the same time. For our gluten free friends, most of their menu is gluten free and they even had a vegan tasting menu (that some folks at the neighboring table had). read more

We got seated at 6:45pm, and then we began our journey into invisible guest mode. For nearly 30 minutes, no water, no busboy, no server--just us, slowly evaporating into thin air while the staff had a solid group chat session five feet away. Honestly, I've been ghosted before, but never by an entire restaurant staff. Finally, someone appeared--presumably our server, though I'm still not sure because he seemed more surprised to see us than we were to see him. Let's just say the vibe was less "welcome to Haven" and more "why are you here?" After 30 minutes of feeling like we crashed a staff meeting, we got up and left. No food, no drinks, no water, no thanks. If you're looking for ambiance and the thrilling suspense of wondering if you've been forgotten in a simulation--this place is for you. I'd read the mixed reviews and was ready to see for myself since Haven is in my neighborhood and I often stop by the downstairs market for coffee, etc. I think they've worked out the kinks. We loved the food, and our waitress, Meredith, was incredible. She was an expert on the food and wine and steered us to a great overall experience. We loved every dish we ordered. My favorite thing is how they label the menu with what's grown on the property (and all other ingredients are from other organic farms). This likely contributes to the high prices that are often mentioned in reviews. Sourcing organic is typically pricier than conventional mass distribution options. I think it's easy to forget that this is the point of farm to table dining. Ethical meats and organic ingredients aren't cheap, but personally, I'd rather pay a little more for this kind of meal. Highly recommend if you value the true farm to table experience. read more

We had a wonderful night at Haven! We sat out on the back patio facing the farm & brewery which was a beautiful view, even lit up at night... there was live music inside which was also a nice touch. Some of our stand out dishes were the prawns (make sure to get the bread & butter and soak up the broth with it!), the rib eye & the duck leg... the moles were beautiful and we learned had been started back in early July to become so complex. However the best part of the evening was getting a visit from Chef Kelston Moore at the end of our meal... we had the best chat and he even brought us out a few other things to try. He really went above & beyond and you could tell how passionate he was about what they're doing at Fox Farms. He really took pride in the menu, and you knew he was having fun doing it... such amazing energy to cap off a solid evening! read more

A group of friends and I were excited to try the new Fox Point Farms location / restaurant in Encinitas. FYI, Maps will take you the wrong way to new construction so be sure to turn on Quail Gardens. We gave it an A+ for ambience between the brewery, the Market, and Haven. Haven feels open and airy with its vaulted ceilings and greenery, plus there was live music (it was a Friday night). While friendly, the service was slow at first - ok, maybe the server was busy and it took a while to greet the table, but this slow rhythm continued throughout the night with only a few tables. We had to constantly ask for things like removing our wine glasses to make room for our apps, taking our order, then taking our menus off the table (even after ordering), and refilling our water. The food itself was OK. We shared the hummus appetizer and carrots. Both were good but needed some salt. the entrees were meh - the local catch, ribeye, chicken, and bison burger - were fine, but nothing I would ever come back for. Generally, they lacked seasoning. The risotto that came with the local fish was the best thing on the table. For the price and promise, we were hoping for more, but alas, the post-COVID trend of overpriced, underwhelming new restaurants continues. My wife and I took a friend to Haven for dinner on a Saturday night (7/19). We actually started with a hard kombucha downstairs at Harvest Market and took in great views of the farm and of kids playing on the green. The landscaping, design and architecture are all beautiful. When it was time to head upstairs to Haven, we were seated on the back deck overlooking the farm and taking in a beautiful sunset. Our waitress Meredith was awesome! She took the time to chat with us and share a little about herself. We felt so welcome. We started with a round of rum cocktails that set a perfect mood for the night. Light, crisp, refreshing and not overly sweet. They were a special that is being tested for an updated drink menu it sounds like. From there, we ordered several appetizers, each of which were excellent. The roasted carrots, which we've had before, were slightly different with a hot honey. Great, fresh flavors. The only complaint was they were a little under-done - something I didn't mind since I think it's easy to take carrots too far, turning mushing and boring. We also had the broccoli with a creamy curry sauce. This was perhaps our favorite dish of the night. The broccoli was perfectly cooked, and the sauce was a great accompaniment. We ordered a second to enjoy with our main course. The only request would be a bigger portion! The shishito peppers were a nice contrast, both to the creaminess of the curry sauce and to the little bites of pork fat/bacon in the peppers. They tasted very clean with just a little kick. Really nice way to round the appetizers. We were intrigued by the Short Rib, so we all agreed to share that dish along with the forbidden rice. I loved the spice of the forbidden rice and the slight bite that it provided. The short rib was fantastic, perfectly cooked/roasted, not chewy at all. Great meat flavor. But the real winner was the rice under the protein that had soaked up all the juice and sauce. It was a great bit. After a nice back and forth with Meredith on liquor choices, I had a gin-base cocktail, the Ode to James, along with the meal. It was very good - again well balanced (not to sweet) and flavorful. Meredith must have mentioned our conversations about cocktails to the Asst GM/Bar Manager, because Kevin came out and we talked about our favorite cocktails before he darted behind the counter and came back with a Mexcal-based drink that was excellent. Went last night for the first time. I really liked it! It definitely has some quirks to iron out has all new restaurants do. The property itself is amazing, seems like this is a planned community and has lots of perks, organic produce store, coffee shop, brew house and the restaurant. The hostess stand is at the bottom of the steps and the hostess was somewhat "guarding" me from going up the stairs. I told her I was meeting a friend at the bar and she insisted on walking me up to my seat at the bar? This was not needed or wanted, hopefully this will stop. But after that it was great, the bartender was friendly and so accommodating. My friend showed up soon after (she also thought the hostess interaction was odd). We split the hummus app and gnocchi entree, both were delish. We got the margaritas and they were also delish! It was a tad bit windy but has soon has I mentioned it to the bartender, they closed the wall of doors and it was very comfortable after that. I also would like a beverage napkin for our drinks because with the condensation, our drinks kept dripping on us but hopefully they will realize this is kinda important and rectify that. Also, I don't love the bar stools, they are fixed in place and impossible to hang your purse on the back of the chair. No hooks under bar either so that should also be easily fixed. All in all, I know this place is going to be a very busy place when the word gets out. North County is dying for restaurants and this is a great addition. read more

Fries were grossly oversalted. How do you screw that up? The restaurant was loud with poor acoustics making it difficult to have a conversation. Into that din of noise were large speakers pumping indistinguishable music into the room. You had to be within 2 feet of the server to hear her description of the specials. Our waitress was very nice and personable. Our guest was told no parking available and to "use the overflow lot". Not knowing where that was, she went to the golf course parking nearby. After dinner we discovered that lot was closed and padlocked. So we had an overnight guest and we'll recover her car later this morning. They had parking lot attendants who misguided her. Parking is available if you have reservations. Plus they should have helped her find the overflow lot. Very pricey food and drinks. Won't go back. read more

Beautiful modern and airy farm (on site) to table restaurant on the upper level of the two story Haven building. There's currently tables for 2 and 4 guests indoors and on the north and south patio. There is one table for a large party of 8-10 guests and a seating area for lounging indoors by an oversized fireplace. There are 8 barstools at the bar. Uptempo mellow music was playing from a record player in the corner of the restaurant. The Foxy Margarita was lovely and a perfect balance of lime juice and tequila. The food menu will be changing on occasion due to the availability of produce. I shared the shishito hummus, radish carpaccio, carrots al pastor, foxxy salad with additional steak, and the bison burger. We were so excited to try this restaurant as we have been hearing so much buzz about it around the community. Sadly, we were extremely disappointed. On the positive side, the restaurant is absolutely gorgeous. Very inviting and upon walking in, and upon first impression, we all talked about how this was going to be our new spot based on aesthetics alone. Another positive was the Service. Our waitress was lovely, warm and very helpful. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. We ordered the shrimp appetizer, the smoked fish appetizer, the Croque, Madame, the French omelette, the Caesar salad, and the Smashburger. So we tried several things to get a feel from the restaurant. Both the Croque Madame and the French omelette were so inedible that we had to send it back. I don't think I've sent anything back from a restaurant in over 10 years. Maybe more. They both were completely inedible. The croque was a mushy, gray, soggy mess. The sauce on top was like a country gravy versus a béchamel and not a good texture and NOT a good a good taste. The French omelette, if possible, was worse. The inside of the omelette was profoundly fishy, and mealy, and gray. We sent both of those items back after one bite. We were embarrassed to do so, but they were just so beyond bad that we couldn't even have a second bite. The Caesar salad looked beautiful, but again, it had a pungent fishy taste. I love an anchovy in a Caesar salad, but this was overpowering. The two appetizers follow the same trend. The smoked fish dish was very bland and the whole plate was gray (What's with all the gray food??) The dish was literally composed of white bread, white cream cheese, and a white smoked fish crumbled on top. A little herb salad or even just a sprig of something green would've transformed the dish . But instead it looked like prison food and tasted just as bland. The only thing we had that was decent was the Smashburger. And it was just fine. Nothing to write home about, but not bad at all. The waitress was very accommodating and understanding and so we're really grateful for that because we were all embarrassed to have to send something back. I really hope they either get a new chef or dial in the quality/flavor/aesthetics of the dishes, as we would love to come back as the restaurant is beautiful, the gardens are lovely, and the family friendly vibe was so amazing! read more

Service was really poor, from hostess to server. No one ever came to greet us for 10-15 min, we left. Total buzz kill...

This place is so cool! We had a beautiful sunset view over the gardens/fields and the service was great. We got a prickly pear goze and a kumbucha which were both yum! The atmosphere is really cool and it's really nice. They have a market below the restaurant and a a ton of great outdoor space. We happened to arrive during happy hour and got the happy hour burgers. They have gluten free buns which is a huge win (for me!). The burgers didn't knock my socks off but they were good- about average. I would totally recommend and we will go back when back in town! The only downside is the parking- it's pretty terrible if you don't get there early enough to get a spot in the parking lot. We had to walk .39miles down an unlit road across a major road to get to the "additional parking" with three kids in tow... not my fave. They also aren't super kid friendly in that they don't (as of when we went in Oct 2025) have a full kids menu etc but they do have some kids items that the server just told us about. Despite this there were tons of kids there besides our own and we had plenty of room for a high chair and the kiddos. Overall I feel like the ambiance and idea of this place is really worth checking out/supporting. read more

Have eaten here twice with friends and family. On both occasions, we were all underwhelmed by the food, presentation, and found the cocktails were overpriced for what you get. On the first occasion we sat indoors which is a lovely setting. The second time, we sat at a picnic table on the balcony. There were a lot of kids below running and screaming below. They were having fun which was nice but not exactly great when you are paying a lot for dinner. read more
