Gelato 101 is a super cute location with not-your-regular gelato flavors. I think every flavor was great and you just have to try them all. Customer service was especially great when we needed assistance with a food allergy to ensure safety. The outdoor seating is super cute and comfortable for adults and kids. This is by far my favorite gelato place with vegan options. They usually have at least 4 options. Their gelato is flavorful, smooth, and creamy! I miss their vegan strawberry balsamic. It was fantastic but haven't seen it offered in a while. They usually have a vegan chocolate and 3 other fruit-type flavors. Love the passion fruit! Space outside to chill and enjoy your gelato. We usually come here after dining at Modern Times or Plumeria vegetarian. Good stuff! You will definitely enjoy it here!
This is a trendy little spot for something sweet or coffee and boba. I came here for gelato and tried the watermelon, mixed berry and sugar free hazelnut. I felt the gelato was a bit too sweet and some of the flavors do not truly represent what I thought it would be. The mixed berry was the best out of the three. The kid's scoop on a waffle cone was quite large. The workers were kind and quickly assisted customers. There was a line, but the wait was not too long. They have some tables to sit outside and it's really pretty and fairy-like at night with the lights and decor. Parking may be difficult to find.

Many interesting flavors reflecting local ingredients. Highly recommend to those want a little treat to walk with along the beach!
After spending the day at the beach in Encinitas, I had dinner with a friend and wanted to have something sweet; so we decided to go to Gelato 101. Gelato 101 is definitely one of the best gelato spots I've ever been to. It is definitely a lovely gem within Encinitas. This cute establishment can be found conveniently on S Coast Hwy, right off the street. I love their bold and bright neon sign that proudly proclaims their brand-name at night. Although there is a small parking lot on the side of the building, it is still sometimes difficult to find street parking within close distance, when it is crowded. We ended up parking about three blocks away. There is a nice patio for outdoor seating and there's also a few seating spaces within their cozy interior. But overall, the interior seating is very limited, which is a shame, because the decoration is very homey & inviting. The staff was very friendly & patient with our inquiries, and the service was excellent. Although, if you come during a popular time, expect to spend a rate in life that will go out the door. I ordered a Muscle Man smoothie and it was perfect! The flavor was exactly what I hoped it would be and it was also very healthy. Their peanut butter açai bowl was also very delicious and I loved how they blended the flavors together. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience at Gelato 101 and I will definitely be returning here!
Best Gelato hands down! I got a Pistachio and European Yogurt Gelato. The European Yogurt is deliciously tart. I love the pistachio too. Both are equally soo good. Service was great and the atmosphere here is a perfect place to chill.

Service wasn't super warm and friendly but the delicious gelato made up for it.

We took a walk from the beach to the nearby shops and stopped here for a treat! The staff were SO friendly and you can tell they enjoyed working there. They had a sign on the door celebrating all the employees who were graduating which is great to see them being celebrated! There was a longish line but the staff have it down and we got through pretty quick. The staff had great suggestions and I am so happy I went with her suggestion of getting the strawberry! They had a cute patio and a few indoor seats but it was pretty full so we just continued our walk.

They have a great selection of gelato flavors but I opted for just a boba tea. I ordered the green tea latte with boba and it was so good! The boba was super flavorful and sweet. The staff was friendly, especially with being so busy. The decor of the space is so inviting and I'll be tempted to come work from there on a sunny afternoon.
Gelato 101 is amazing! The gelato is super creamy and full of flavor, and they have a great selection to choose from. The staff is friendly and always helpful if you're not sure what to get. My favorites are the raspberry and amaretto. I don't think I'd ever go out of my way just to get this just because parking is such a hassle but if I was already in the area I would 100% visit again
This was my 2nd time here... and man their gelato is no joke. I first experienced it at the taste of Encinitas and was blown away by how delicious it was. I finally was able to comeback and the passion fruit sorbet was incredible. I took the kiddos and had them choose which flavors and all but 1 picked the passion fruit as 1 of their options. The prices are reasonable, service was great, and I love the little patio area to seat and enjoy in a sunny day. Definitely will be back.

Gelato 101 has nice vibes. It has both indoor and outdoor seating. They don't only have Gelato ,but also they have coffee, Boba, Açai bowl, shake, and smoothies They have many great flavors to choose from. The sizes are Doppio (two flavors) Triplo ( three flavors) Quad (four flavors) and kid gelato size. We stopped here after dinner and ordered two Mango, and one mango and stracciatella. The Gelato had nice and creamy texture.The line was very long, but it moved fast. The staff were nice. Highly recommend. read more

This place is so cute! Our party visited Gelato 101 on a warm Sunday afternoon. It was packed but the line moved quickly and were able to find seats. Lots of outdoor seating and dog friendly! We ordered Affogatos and were able to choose whatever gelato flavor. Super tasty! Will definitely come back. read more

This was the cutest gelato shop on the Main Street of Encinitas. The Opera (hazelnut) flavor was spot on and the texture was not bad. I would have preferred a denser pull as this was too soft for my taste, but still the perfect sweet treat after a day at the beach. read more

Years ago, back in 2022 when I got to finally see Old Faithful explode into fantastic rainbows, some Italian kids in front of me were complaining that we didn't have real gelato, only ice cream. I didn't know there was a difference but this kid's insistence always stayed with me. Now I can finally say that kid knew what he was talking about. Amazing. After stuffing our face at The Taco Stand down the street, we needed, as my dad says, a "topper-offer." Luckily, Gelato 101 was a couple blocks away! I don't frequent gelato by any means. Our friend Jim told us to check out this Gelato place and he was right...delicious! When we arrived we had to stand in line for a bit to get to the counter. They did not have many flavors, but after tasting a few, I decided on the pineapple one....it was nice and sweet with a great natural real pineapple taste. Any size you order will incur a +$1 if you want a waffle or sugar cone. There's lots of seating out on the patio and the ambiance is very relaxed and cool.... read more
This place is amazing! The gelato is some of the best I ever had made my Encinitas trip from Temecula well worth it. I had pistachio and a chocolate and cream with little chocolate bits in it was spectacular give me 14 more. I'll be back next time I'm local. read more

The best and widest section of gelato around is found here, look no further! They use the freshest ingredients (some from Italy) to make a wide variety of flavors and options for all dietary needs/restrictions. The flavors were bold and intense. The gelato was smooth and fresh. We used this company to cater our wedding. We didn't have time to sample or visit the store front before our BIG day, so we relied on reviews. The reviews were spot on, thankfully. The communication and service were excellent! The manager regularly communicated with me about the details and specifics for our wedding day. He was attentive and made great recommendations, thank you! We selected four very different flavors. We offered two vegan choices and two regular. The company sent two servers and they were friendly and professional. They kept the line moving and served 130+ guests with a smile. They set up/cleaned up and brought their own supplies. Their chilled case kept the gelato nice and cold during the reception. If you are considering full service catered gelato for your wedding or event, just do it!! This is the most authentic artisan gelato...at its best. read more

Great little gelato shop we went to after a delicious Italian meal. They hail from Seattle, Washington and their story began at the famous Pike Place Market in 2003. This is true Italian gelato created by two native Italians named Antonella Ragazzi and David Arato. The gelato is made from scratch daily they only use organic ingredients. This is a family owned business and service was friendly and helpful. Tasting and samples are available. I enjoyed a scrumptious cup of their rich chocolate. So rich and decadent I must admit I had a hard time finishing but worth every bite. I visited during the holiday season so the shop was decorated and festive. There is a small seating area but we got our gelato to go. I will be back here again next visit and be sure to check them out when you are in the area. read more

I can't stress enough how much I love this place; it was the catalyst for my current gelato obsession. The people working here are really helpful, and let you sample as much gelato as you'd like to help you make up your mind, because all of the flavors always all look amazing. I've tried the vegan, fruity flavors as well as the diary based flavors and they're all great. Last night I had a scoop of pineapple (recommended but the lady who was working), and a flavor made with a hazelnut base. Both were delicious. My girlfriend had strawberry and black vanilla and enjoyed those. My friend tried the chefs choice, which had caramel and pretzels and other yumminess. A small is ~$6 and you can choose one or two flavors. It was plenty for me. The outside area is adorable- lots of cute little spots to sit, with pretty lights overhead- it was a garden like feel, and I love it. Try this place! read more

Was walking around Encinitas and wanted dessert. What stood out for me was the long line and the sign. The line was moving fast, so I assumed it was a popular spot. Thank goodness I came in because the gelato I had was delicious -- it was biscoff flavor. The unique thing about this place is they change the flavors often and it's family owned! Who doesn't love supporting local business, let alone a family business! Everyone was so nice and helpful. I love the interior with the sign on the right talking about family. If you're ever in Encinitas, I recommend trying this place. read more

WOW, one of my top favorite gelato shops! The customer service here was great. They let you sample. I got the pistachio and hazelnut in the small cup and got a good amount for close to $6. They give you more for this size compared to other gelato shops I've been to which is awesome! Great service, great price and serving, delicious, cute outdoor patio, and close to the beach! A must visit when in downtown Encinitas! read more
This is a cute place in Encinitas for gelato. They serve coffee too. My friend had the Dirty Chai and said it was really good. I tried the gelato, salted caramel and pistachio. Both were really good! They give you a little cookie with it. Their prices are so reasonable too! read more
A truly refreshing treat on a warm afternoon in Encinitas, and totally complements the seaside atmosphere, the people watching, and great day outside after tooooo much rain! Two scoops of deliciousness in a cup for $5 adorned with a crispy, thin wafer was just what the doctor ordered. I had Sour Yogurt & Mango, and the wife had Amaretto, and Pineapple as her two scoops! Indoor seating that resembles a coffee shop, and alfresco seating that resembles a garden or patio area with tables, sofas and chairs. In addition to Gelato, the shop offers Boba teas, slushes, smoothies, lattes, etc. Surely they have something for everyone. Highly recommend. read more

What a CAYUTE place!!! If it weren't so cold, I might have lingered here longer! Their front entrance is like the entrance to a garden. I love the trees and the way they converted planters into tables/seating area. Very resourceful, thoughtful and creative! This place reminded me of all the other gelato places I been to - About 10-12 flavors in the glass display. We taste tested the Sea Salt Caramel and Amaretto (we liked both) so we got a scoop of that. The Amaretto was so memorable for me. I don't typically love this flavor BUT the cherry and almond were well-balanced. I also loved the slivers of chocolate folded into the gelato. The Sea-Salt Caramel was salty and sweet with caramel ribbons flowing through and through. So glad we stopped in even after a full stomach & a chilly night! read more
