    Cinnamon roll
    Nicole Erin B.

Nectarine Grove is my favorite gluten free haven in San Diego. Every single item is gluten free and many are vegan as well. Each time I come, I try something new. The cinnamon roll has a great structure and a generous amount of cinnamon. The icing is optional but I highly recommend it. I love being able to indulge in gluten free tests that are difficult to find elsewhere. The lines can sometimes be slow but it's definitely worth the wait. All the seating is outdoors but the umbrellas provide good shade.

You had me a spicy Mayan mocha! Nectarine Grove Cafe is so great! I'm so obsessed with the menu! I came here to meet a friend and ordered the spicy Mayan mocha, which is a butter latte made mushrooms, collagen, and so many wonderful things to support brain function. I loved my coffee so much, I came back 2 more times while I was in Del Mar. On my third visit, I ordered breakfast which I was excited to try. Nectarine Grove is so mindful of different diets. We ordered a cinnamon roll, salmon toast, donuts, and kid's breakfast (bacon, eggs, a small fruit cup, and egg muffin). I recommend getting the cinnamon roll warmed with frosting on top. It's a little hard at room temperature. The salmon toast was delish! Lots of salmon which was so fresh! The donuts were made in avocado oil. The healthier donuts I have tried which were great! Staff was kind too!

Great little lunch spot located within flower hill in Del Mar. They have an excellent selection of sandwiches, salads and pretty unique paleo coffees. Nice little outdoor eating area, perfect for sunny days!

Food was great. Pesto turkey was delicious and warm. The salad dressing was an orange light dressing. The honey latte was creamy and flavorful. It wasn't overly sweet which was nice.

    Chicken Salad Toast

I was able to try the chicken salad toast and it was pretty good. I wasn't sure if the dressing was for the side salad or the toast but I felt the chicken salad toast would have had more of a tang if a lemon was squeezed over it. I ended up pouring the dressing over the salad so if it was meant for the toast that could have added the tang because it was a lemony dressing. The toast bread was flavorful, soft so it wasn't hard to bite into. I didn't order the food so not sure how service is but I've driven by it a few times and it's a cute little place tucked on the side of the plaza building on the right.

    Bakehouse Breakfast
    Cristina v.

The Bakehouse Breakfast was BAD. Ordered scrambled eggs and they were like two chewy and tasteless patties - the explanation was as ridiculous as the eggs ("we are using small egg pan.."). The sweet potatoes looked like bird food (see picture) and the butter came as small (very) cold cubes that were hard to spread... Oh, have a mentioned the bacon? Yes, two skinny, soft (!!) and fat pieces of bacon. Maybe the drinks are good - because the breakfast food, is very low quality. Very disappointing

    Bakehouse Breakfast

Eggshell in my food. The scrambled eggs are not even scrambled eggs just patties. "Fresh berries" the blackberries are sour and the strawberries are mushy and old. I just don't get the hype. Don't come to this place because they promote it to be "healthy".

    Angela taking orders!

Nectarine Grove is an absolute standout--everything on the menu is 100% gluten-free and incredibly delicious. From their fresh bowls and satisfying sandwiches to wraps and baked goods, every item is thoughtfully made and bursting with flavor. You'd never guess it's all gluten-free--because nothing feels like a compromise. And then there's Angela. She's kind, considerate, and genuinely cares about the people she serves. She goes above and beyond to make sure you feel welcomed, comfortable, and taken care of. Her warmth and attention to detail turn a great meal into a meaningful experience. The food at Nectarine Grove fills your body with goodness, but Angela fills the place with heart. A beautiful spot made even better by people like her. Let me know if you'd like to add a personal anecdote or a "Don't miss this dish!" line!

Croissants. Real. Croissants. If that wasn't enough of a review, I'll try again... CHOCOLATE croissants. Real, soft, layered, buttery, giant, warm, fresh, chocolate croissants. The kind that will spike your blood sugar and happy hormones over the edge. I've so far, over two visits, have also tried two of their quiches, their "hostess cupcake," and their cinnamon roll. Their pastry case is where life begins. Go, eat, get a little chubbier, and be blissfully ignorant of what gluten is. This is a 100% dedicated gluten free bakery and you'll not have to worry about cross-contamination here. Many of their items are also lactose free. They have an outdoor patio with seating that is ramp accessible.

Nectarine Grove's bakery in Del Mar has absolutely delicious gluten free pastries! Their croissants are unbelievably amazing, as are their cinnamon rolls. This location is a cute little cafe with great takeout vibes in a convenient location, I absolutely love popping in for a tasty gluten free treat!

    White peach iced tea
    Mei T.

After brunch and shopping, my MeetUp Fun Diego Ladies and I stopped by for some afternoon tea and coffee. It was a bit warm out, so I ordered the white peach iced tea that came with 1 free refill. Not bad for $4. I enjoyed the mild tea flavor, unsweetened, just how I like it. The cute barista taking our order was very pleasant and helpful in answering our questions about the menu. We enjoyed the coffee and tea here. They have nice big tables outside, but what's missing is a restroom.

I was greeted by two people behind the counter and was told to feel free to ask questions and try one of the samples they had. They also let me know that there were additional items that I could buy to take home on the shelves and in the cooler, so take my time looking around. There was so much good gf stuff! We ordered the Turkey Pesto Panini and the 'Trust Me Dude' Panini which came with a side of chips. Both were delicious but, Trust Me Dude... you're gonna want to try that one cause the name all the sudden made sense with the first bite. It was unlike any sandwich I've had before, in the best way possible! I also had the double chocolate cookie and didn't even get a picture cause I ate it so fast, it was that good! The cafe is spacious and had indoor and outdoor seating. They also had a shelf with games and a chalk board mentioning different themed events like game night and cookie decorating classes. It feels like they are not only trying to create a great restaurant, but a little community. They also take allergies very seriously so you can feel safe here. Can't wait to go back and try new things, so happy to have this new gluten free option available.

I like my work immensely, but also need to recharge too. My motto in life is, "work hard, play harder, you only got this one life, make it count." I asked chatGPT to find me a place in Del Mar that has sick ocean views and no matter how I asked chatGPT this question, Jake's kept popping up as number one. I needed some lunch so came in here after 3pm, and it was closer to happy hour. As soon as you walk in, you just see the ocean and it just calms you. I sat down at the bar and it wasnt too busy but with a few people. This place is for grown ups, so act like one. It had a laid back, ocean vibe so very relaxed for sure. Bartender very professional, and very courteous. Poured me a blonde to get started and gave me time to chose my food. There is happy hour here but not too many selections. Today, it was choices of some of flatbreads and a salad and I wasnt interested. Happy hour only Mon - Wed anyways. I wasnt terribly hungry so ordered the ceviche. I love fish, doesn't matter how you make it, as long as its good, I will like it. Ceviche was spot on fresh and yummy and appreciate a bit of avocado added. It was the perfect snack, while watching the ocean view and washing it all down with an ice cold blonde. A perfect gown up way to spend the afternoon celebrating life and how gorgeous Mother Nature is. There is valet parking here which is $8 and peak times $10. I was able to find free 2 hour parking on the street though. Bathroom was clean and everything about this place would bring me back in again. The food, however, is where the restaurant didn't really shine. They seemed to play it safe. If you prefer lighter, more understated flavors, this may be the perfect place for you. We started with the ceviche. The guacamole had turned color and didn't seem very fresh, but overall it was still a light and decent starter. For my entrée, I ordered what was essentially a cioppino, even though they call it something else on the menu. The mussels tasted slightly off, though the two pieces of fish were tender and nicely cooked. Unfortunately, the dish really lacked flavor, and I ended up having to salt it heavily. Our waitress was wonderful -- very sweet, attentive, and diligent throughout the meal. Overall, this is a great spot for the atmosphere, drinks, and staff. While the food didn't particularly impress me flavor-wise, the beachfront setting alone makes it worth visiting.

When we first arrived, we noticed it had the same artsy, loft vibe & decor as the one in Las Vegas. At first glance it seemed like it had a small interior but then we noticed the stairs to get to a lower level to the left of us. This led to a very spacious room! Love the decor and the layout. There's more seating outdoors, which we attempted but it had too cold of a breeze so we decided to sit indoors. We were greeted warmly by a nice young man at the counter. My hubby told him we had eaten at the FC in Las Vegas and he told us he was going to train as a manager in Las Vegas. I ordered the Chicken Yakisoba Bowl and hubby ordered the Chicken Entree with brown rice and sweet potato fries with dip. We easily found a table in the lower level as there was hardly anybody down there. But, as the time progressed it became full with young soccer players and their respective families. Apparently, the soccer games ended in the nearby fields & they all descended upon FC. Our food came out quickly. I savored my Chicken Yakisoba Bowl chock full of crispy vegetables and flavorful chicken. It was huge so I had to take leftovers to go. My hubby loved his meal, too. Which is what brought us to Beeside Balcony in Del Mar during the 1st SDRW of 2026. We had Saturday night reservations & got into town early with some time to kill. We found nearby street parking fairly easily. The hostess was able to quickly accommodate us with a table despite our early arrival. Indoor dining space is minimal. But as an upstairs restaurant with "Balcony" literally in its name, the outdoor patio is where you want to be. Our server was a inconsistent on attentiveness & was slow to warm up, though she was quite personable later in the meal. Along with all of the al fresco charm dining on the balcony offered, there was also a curious & less desirable element of the ambiance. During our meal, someone went around shooting pics/ videos for social media. It felt distracting & intrusive. While the SDRW menu was what brought us here, we opted for the Chef's menu after looking over all the options. I ordered the Salmon Croquette/ Denver Steak/ Churros. She ordered Cioppino Soup/ Barramundi/ S'More Cake. Although the pacing of our courses from the kitchen was uneven, most of what we had was good to great to wonderful. Sharing tastes of our dishes with each other, the 1 egregious miss for me was the Cioppino Soup. The seafood in it was good. But that broth was not. Aside from that, the Salmon Croquette & the Barramundi were delicious. The Denver Steak was a revelation. I'd never heard of this cut before, so I looked it up. Truly, a bang for the buck all star. & prepared perfectly here with a fantastic chimichurri. For our desserts, my Churros were good but not anything to get particularly excited about. Now, on the other hand, that S'More Cake? Wow. insanely indulgent with an ooey-gooey center. I honestly can't think of a better way to end a meal. Overall, the ambiance, service, & food all had highs & lows. Collectively, though, the sum total of the experience was pleasant enough that I would be interested in coming back. My threshold for 4 stars is if I'd come back. So, 4 stars it is.

You can choose between jasmine rice or brown rice, and for vegetables either mixed veggies or squash. I went with the mixed veggies. You get around 4 or 5 (guessing) ounces of protein, which honestly felt a little light compared to how much rice is in the bowl. I also added chimichurri sauce, and they offer extra if you ask.
