Close to our hotel, we were thrilled to have this little coffee shop literally a skip and a jump away. It's cute, small with limited outdoor seating. A bonus: a view of the Cardiff surfer and ocean right down the street. On a Monday morning, the cafe had a steady stream of customers but was not overflowing or overstimulating as other guests have noted. We are decaf mocha snobs and enjoy trying new independent coffee shops on our travels. In addition to the setting, we would rank the beauty of our mochas right up there with the best of the best. Hats off to the talent of the baristas. Now for the real test: taste. On this important feature, we would only give our mochas 3-stars. The flavor was bland and watered down. Not really chocolaty nor espresso-ish. My husband, an ex-barista, felt the shots were pulled too quickly and thus did not have a robust flavor. The chocolate was not super sweet, which we appreciated. It was, however, lacking in that dark chocolate taste that's so important in high quality mochas. The staff were efficient but not at all engaging. They chatted with each other but not customers. This seemingly small factor makes a big difference in the experience for guests. We didn't try a pastry though the limited selection looked yummy. This shop also sells Zumbar roasted beans, a nice perk. Rose Hill Purveyors is worth a visit for the experience alone. Maybe other coffee drinks will be more to your liking.

Solid coffee shop. They use Zumbar beans, which I've noticed is a common theme for all good coffee shops in SD. I had a delicious vanilla latte, super rich espresso flavor. The coffee shop is nestled right in the community, and all the employees and even patrons were super sweet. A community gem!

Used to be Zumbar coffee and then I believe one of the baristas took it over and changed the name. Zumbar is one of my fav coffee shops in San Diego and Rosehill has kept the same consistency and flavor. This is one of my stops along the bike route my buddies and I take when cycling up the coast. We always stop here for a coffee and scone. The lattes are consistently amazing. Perfect extraction and milk temperature, sweet and smooth. They have some counter top style seating outside where one can enjoy the fresh air and a view of the ocean. Lovely spot.

Simply the best coffee in San Diego. I haven't ever had anything better. The staff and quality of coffee is unmatched.

I have been coming here since it was "Zumbar" it is my favorite coffee shop in SD! Even though I live in SD I only get to come here when camping across the street, so it is extra special to me. I always get an iced mocha with oat milk and it tastes great every time! Truthfully I don't really like mochas as they can be too sweet. But the baristas do an excellent job making the perfect one each time. Oat milk is a must! I also always add cinnamon on top which is also a must. I have tried one or two pastries over the years and they have been great. But nothing could have prepared me for the everything bagel with scallion cream cheese. Literally the best bagel I have ever had. Also the barista at checkout is always so sweet I am happy when I see her!

This was one of the best vanilla lattes I have ever had!!! It was crazy busy and the staff was very welcoming and efficient!

I was expecting Zumbar Coffee but the sign is now Rose Hill or RH. I had the regular latte and it was pretty good. The baristas radiated good vibes which is always nice when visiting a shop. There isn't much indoor seating so so I sat outside where you can enjoy the view of the ocean. Parking is not too bad on the streets.

Was a customer for years when we lived in north county. When it was Zumbar. The menu is brief but dialed in. They don't offer a selection of flavors and exhaustive menu of drinks. But they have the foundation every other menu is rooted in. I love it. They know who they are. They know what they want to offer. They don't want to be everything to everyone. Ownership has changed. But the consistency is there. My understanding is the new owner is the same person that's been here for years when it was Zumbar. Love it. Love it. Love it. Love seeing folks living their dream. Providing quality. Highly recommend. Will repeat any time I'm in the area.

If you want a coffee with some seaside view, you have some view from outside. There are several seats and it's very comfortable place to get a coffee and get something to eat and just enjoy your time. Maybe because it's a small space I didn't see people with their laptops working which is something that I really appreciate. I don't love coffee shops that look like coworking spaces. As you know, if you follow my reviews, I am not fan of rhat. As I like to create my little bit of joy I always bring my tablecloth with me and some flowers to decorate the coffee drinks or the food. I appreciate that I was able to eat my own salad while having the coffee. My cappuccino was perfect and the presentation in a real ceramic cup was a nice touch for me. The only thing I missed was a more heartfelt welcome because as a new customer we like to be cherished a bit. Also, very cool artwork in the walls. I don't know if they rotate it, but it's really neat to see art decorating the walls.

The seating was spacious and comfortable, and the service was great throughout. We tried the goat cheese & spinach quiche, summer salad, crème brûlée, and lemon meringue tart. The quiche was probably my favorite savory item -- super thick and fluffy with a generous piece of goat cheese on top, and the roasted potatoes on the side were really good too. The summer salad was fresh and loaded with smoked salmon, avocado, mango, and pistachios. Definitely save room for dessert. The crème brûlée had that perfect crunchy caramelized top, and the lemon meringue tart was really cute and had a nice balance of tart and sweet. I love the wide variety pastry selection and how pretty everything looks in the display case. Overall, a really nice breakfast spot -- good food, lots of space, great service, and no crazy Sunday morning wait when we went

We stood in line to get in for about 10 minutes-it's definitely a busy place and probably could get busier! Service was good, but again they were busy...food was great! This was our first time here and we didn't get to try the pastries, but they look very promising. I am always on the hunt for the best pastries around because after visiting Europe and having pastries there, nothing here in the US compares!

This location is right in the center of so much Solana Beach activity offering plenty to do and see around this cafe that makes it an even better stop. Really easy to order and although the line may look long, they are usually quite fast. Worth the wait too! I recently had their cherry bomb latte and my husband had their vanilla latte. His vanilla latte was top tier but I absolutely love the cherry bomb latte. Cherry and coffee go together much better than expected. Their butter croissant was heaven. Just the fluffiest layers and delicious!

This would have been an average San Diego coffee shop experience for me, except for the fact that I absolutely LOVED the cherry bomb! It's a cherry mocha and essentially a perfect drink for me. Back in 2019, Starbucks had a seasonal cherry mocha for Valentine's Day that I was obsessed with. Apparently I was the only one, because they haven't brought it back since. Cherry mochas are hard to come by, and I haven't really encountered another one. This one was delicious! The espresso was bold, the milk perfectly creamy, and the overall taste not too sweet (unlike Starbucks'). Wow!! I can already tell this will be a drink I daydream about. Unfortunately it was $7.50, which will prevent me from indulging very regularly. The rest of the menu is pricey too, with avocado toasts nearly reaching $20. (I may be a millennial, but I can certainly understand the negative stereotype when I see coffee shop prices like these.) Besides pricing, the other downside of this place is the limited seating. There were only 4 small outdoor tables, so unless you're with just one other person and you arrive before 10am, I'd suggest grabbing your coffee to go and taking a walk. My friend and I sat down, since there were open tables when we arrived. She enjoyed her iced honey cinnamon latte. If you love a cherry mocha or are looking for coffee in the design district, definitely come through!

There were two couples and one woman at tables, outside a couple tables were also taken. Everyone was already eating from what I could see, except one of the couples at a high top. I got in line with only 2 people in front of me. I placed my order, some baked goods from the case, a mocha, and chicken and waffles and took my number to the table. I got my Mayan mocha within 5-7 minutes, delicious. I then waited another 45 minutes to receive my chicken and waffles! There were big waves of people coming in and I was thankful I came in the small window of time when hardly anyone was there. That should have meant my order was ahead of the many people in line. At 30 minutes I went to check and make sure there hadn't been a mixup with my order. I had ordered a baked item to go and clarified with the employee ringing me up that everything else was for here/to dine in. She repeated that back to me. Nonetheless, when I went to check, I thought maybe it had accidentally been packed to go. But no, the other employee told me, it was still coming. So I went and sat back down. At 45 minutes I asked another passing employee, who might have been the manager, as I saw her give food to a table that had arrived at least 10-15 minutes after me. This was getting ridiculous. I was waiting on literally one meal and had gotten here ahead of all these people the restaurant was now busy with. She said she would check for me. She came back a few minutes later with my plate and went to get me hot sauce. I checked the chicken and it was COLD, waffle too. They gave me butter but how would it even melt on this cold waffle? I was so angry and baffled. The employee/manager came back and said she was going to take my coffee and pastry off the bill and refund it. This was a nice gesture but honestly, this whole meal should have been refunded. To pay a premium for these ingredients and be served a cold meal after nearly an hour of waiting. Absolutely unacceptable. I tried to submit this feedback to their contact portal instead of a public Yelp review but 3 times their site said it was having issues and it couldn't accept the form. Another thing out of order it seems for Nectarine Grove. Don't dare come here if you have anywhere else to be that afternoon. Another north county beautiful high priced eatery not getting the basics right.
