    Black coffee
    Trecia L.

My husband and I had brunch here on a Friday morning. We were seated inside. The tables looked clean but sticky for some reason. I ordered decaf coffee and my husband had black coffee. I ordered a make-my-own omelette (5 toppings to choose) with egg white, light Swiss cheese, spinach, mushrooms, onions, and turkey sausage w/ hash brown for my side. My husband had the Easy Morning with egg white, turkey, sausage, and hash brown. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time. Aside from the presentation, I enjoyed the flavor of my omelette that I didn't need additional seasonings. My husband's was content with his dish. Our meal was about $50 w/o tip. There is plenty of parking, outdoor seating, and dogs are welcome.

I had some friends in from out of town who were staying up the street so I looked up a good breakfast place on Yelp and that is what brought us here. The breakfast mug did not disappoint. Situated by a park and occupying a strip mall full of other dining choices it was a nice place. Easy to park. Lots of outdoor seating. Friendly enough hostess. Very nice server. Clean. I thought the menu was a great variety. My friend ordered the The Mug Chilakiles and her mom ordered the ORO Pancakes. The Chilakiles were great!!! The flavors were really good and the green salsa had just the right amount of punch! I liked the pancakes as well but my friend thought they were a little dry. I would definitely recommend. Oh! And dog friendly!!! We brought a dog and it was no problem.

Came here for a quick breakfast in Carlsbad. We were seated quickly on a Saturday morning. Service was okay. Portions were HUGE! I almost wish they put a disclaimer or some photos because I unfortunately did not have room to take anything to go. I can't say anything blew my mind, but food was pretty good. Definitely come hungry, or plan to share!

Continues to be our go-to for breakfast/brunch. It always has a chill vibe and we love the choice of sitting indoors or out in their larger patio area to enjoy our food al fresco. All the dishes we've tried are freshly made, of quality ingredients & full-flavored. The best part is their awesome staff, especially Omar & Christian. They're always so kind and welcoming. This place is truly a hidden gem, great location, great food, great value and great people.

Easy Morning - Two eggs any style, served with choice of bacon or turkey links and pancake or french toast

Really great food! The eggs were cooked perfectly, the pancakes and waffles were so sweet and delicious. Would have given 5 stars but the French toast was dry and the home fries were really greasy. The service was great and our server was attentive. The patio was quiet and enjoyable. We loved it and will be back!

Super cute little patio area. A surprise little food area in the heart of business buildings. Staff was incredibly sweet checking on us often. I got eggs rancheros with their potatoes. Yum and my daughter got the breakfast burrito. Good portions and everything was great. Seemed to be a popular takeout option as well.

The food was good. The service was okay. We asked her to split the bill but she had an attitude about and told us to figure it out ourselves. The place wasn't very busy. It's a casual restaurant. The French toast was so good. They do serve big portions.

Ambiance..cute place Service..friendly service and family owned and I like that Food...ranchero eggs..was so amazing and so much flavour..perfect size. So reasonable too. I also got th3 chai Brule drink and it was good and not too sweet.

The service I received at the Breakfast Mug was exceptional. My server was Paula and she was very attentive and kind. The food came out in less than 10 mins. I would give it a 8/10 just because it was a little bland. Overall, I would definitely come here again, they have really good pancakes too!

We ordered the Smoked Salmon Tartine, and it was SO good -- farmer's cheese, capers, pickled onion and dill on their sourdough. Honestly, the food was top tier. Everything coming out of the kitchen looked amazing, and after trying the bread we actually ended up buying some to take home! For drinks, we had a matcha latte with oat milk and the canned nitro cold brew. Just a heads-up for my fellow coffee people: the cold brew isn't made in-house, but that didn't stop it from being really good! We liked the coffee so much that we actually went over to the local coffee shop that supplies their beans afterward and bought some beans to take home. And definitely don't skip the bakery. The chocolate chip cookie was delicious, and the chocolate croissant had that super crispy, crackly exterior. I personally would have loved a little more filling to make it slightly more moist, but that's completely subjective -- if you love a crispier croissant, you'll probably LOVE it. The atmosphere might have been my favorite part. It's beautiful, calm, inviting and just has that perfect Carlsbad coastal café vibe. Between the food, fresh bread, pastries and atmosphere, this is absolutely somewhere I'd come back to whenever we're in the area. Definitely worth a stop -- and come hungry because everything coming out of that kitchen looks delicious!

Jacob was our server, and he was fantastic. He was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed without ever making us feel rushed. Later, Kaitlyn brought out our butter cake, and what started as a quick interaction turned into one of those unexpected conversations that give you a different perspective and refresh that we all need every once in a while. The food was just as impressive. We started with the Spinach & Artichoke Dip, which was the perfect appetizer. For dinner, we ordered the Center Cut Filet, Cha Cha's Spicy Rigatoni, and the Buttermilk Fried Chicken. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and something we'd happily order again. If you're thinking about dessert, do yourself a favor and order the butter cake. It absolutely lives up to the hype. What stood out most, though, was the people. Working in a restaurant can be overstimulating and exhausting. Everyone we interacted with was kind and welcoming. It's easy to enjoy a great meal, but it's the people who make you want to come back. From the service to the food to the atmosphere, the entire team is doing an incredible job. It has a bit of a sports bar atmosphere but it is not truly a sports bar (they have the t.v.'s on playing sports but it doesn't have the sports bar feel. Our server was very friendly and patient but could have been a bit more attentive once we got our food as we ran out of napkins and water and had to flag her down. I had the lamb burger special and it was truly to die for. If I hadn't worried about being too full I could have eaten another because it was so good. I think this should be a regular menu item. It was cooked perfectly and it was truly mouthwatering with all the toppings. Usually I hate buns but this bun was so soft and squishy and NOT dry that I gobbled it down. It came with a side and I was a little disappointed because it lists the sides on the menu and a side salad was one of them but when I got the bill it was extra for the side salad. When I asked she said there is an upcharge for the side salad (which was not noted on the menu). But the salad was great too so no problem! One friend had the pizza which I would not rate as an amazing pizza (I am an East Coaster so I am a pizza snob) but my friend loved it. They had some very cool toppings for their pizzas too. If you are going to go for a really good pizza I wouldn't go here. Come here for the other stuff on the menu. My other friend had the fish and chips and loved it. Unfortunately, after thinking it over, I still feel the same way. Our family decided to come to Karl Strauss Brewery for dinner since it was close by. We were looking forward to relaxing and enjoying a meal after a fun day at the park. When we arrived, the hostess was very friendly and got us seated quickly, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, that's where our positive experience ended. The restaurant was extremely busy, and it took quite a while before our server came to greet us. We were able to order waters, but even those took a long time to arrive. After another long wait, we finally ordered our appetizers. Our original server, who I believe said her name was Noemi or Naomi, came across as overwhelmed, stressed, and like she didn't enjoy her job. While I understand restaurants get busy, her attitude made us feel like we were an inconvenience. She wasn't very attentive, especially to our kids, who had been at Legoland all day and were extremely hungry. She never came back to take their food order, and we found ourselves waiting longer and longer without any communication. Eventually, another server took over our table. She was incredibly kind, friendly, and apologetic. We explained that we had already been waiting a long time and just wanted to place our food order to go so we could get our hungry kids back to the hotel. She handled the situation professionally and did her best to help, which we truly appreciated. If you're dining with young children, I'd keep in mind that service may not be the best fit if your family needs an attentive server or timely service. Waiting extended periods without updates can be especially difficult for tired, hungry kids. It's disappointing because the restaurant itself seemed nice, and the hostess and second server were both wonderful. Unfortunately, the experience with our original server left a bad impression. While I understand busy nights happen, the lack of attentiveness and communication made for a frustrating experience, and because of that, I don't think we'll be returning.
