I am a little bit torn on this rating. We've been going there since they opened, and up to 6 months ago or so we always had great food. This time when we went there for breakfast on Christmas eve things were different. When ordering our meals the menu said one of them came with fruit. As we ordered, the waitress said the fruit would be extra. We pointed out it was in the menu and she replied, "Yeah, it's not supposed to be. We're waiting for new menus." We suggested they honor the fruit since it is still listed on their menu but she refused. It wasn't a big enough deal to fuss about so we just paid for an extra side and proceeded with our order. When the food came it was clear the home fries had changed. They were very bland, dry & cold and no longer as good as they always had been. I ordered the homemade corn beef hash, which was always one of my staples. It tasted ok, but again not as good as it had in the past. The most unfortunate thing about it though is that it must've been contaminated meat. The following afternoon my stomach began churning and I got a stomach virus and caused severe vomiting & diarrhea for 2 days. Being the Christmas holiday & with multiple family gatherings, this was the only meal I ate in a 3 day period that wasn't also eaten by someone else in my immediate or extended family. And none of them got even remotely sick from anything we all ate. Our meal at Swamis was the only possible contaminant. It's so disappointing to say we will likely not be back to Swamis because of this last experience. Or at least not until enough time has passed that we forget about our last experience. read more

The food here is extremely over priced for what you get. It claims to be healthy, but everything tastes processed and bland. The service here is the real issue, I was waiting 30 minutes to get a table and I was next up. And all of a sudden some guy who is friends with waiter comes in and says he is in a rush. So of course, he gets my table. When I ask why I got cut in line, the waiter just laughs and said do you want to sit or not. Needless to say I will never be eating here again if we are going to be so openly blatant about the lack off care and concern for the customers. read more

Potatoes are large you get about 25 potatoes and little spoon of chorizo like 2 tbsp , 3 eggs with a tablespoon of cheese so if you like a sack of potatoes this plate is for you there was minimal chorizo on the plate. I won't order this plate again. Service was not that good we didn't get our coffee and there was 2 dogs inside laying on the ground so we couldn't even leave with out not trying to jump over dogs to get to our car. The male Hispanic server is good it's the female that just isn't at Par very forgetful I had to ask for napkins and my husbands coffee 2xs . This place is fire! Let's start with service: Celine was so kind and so helpful with making decisions since obviously I can never make one! She was efficient and always wore a beautiful smile I enjoyed sitting outdoors even though it was chilly outside. They hat heaters and it took the chill out of the air. The food!!!! So amazing!!!! I can never decide between savory and sweet so I ordered the best of Carlsbad omelette with rye toast, fruit cup, and 1 blackberry banana pancake My husband ordered the California wrap with cottage cheese for his side. Very delicious and so cool that they serve both breakfast and lunch ALL day Our daughter had to have a waffle of course.... Her fave! She went with the oranges cranberry waffle with scrambled eggs and bacon. The waffle was legit the best waffle I've ever tried. What a great spot! There's street parking everywhere. Staff was kind. There's indoor and outdoor seating. Beach is so close. We had the orange strawberry waffle which was great. Thick waffle, a bit dry but still great. Nothing too special in my opinion. Same thing with the burger it was great but nothing too exciting. The smoothie was really good! There was bee pollen as a topping I enjoyed. Overall it's a nice place for breakfast but nothing too special for the food. We could've just ordered the wrong thing but still enjoyed it. read more

Out of all the Swami's in North County, the Carlsbad location is my absolute favorite. The food here is a real treat and has that home made taste. I've never been disappointed with the food quality from this location. Portions are more than generous for the price point. There is definitely something for everyone on the menu, including gluten free and vegetarian options. I highly recommend trying a fresh squeezed juice or smoothie. Staff here is always welcoming and friendly! Chill atmosphere that goes along with being on the coast. There is a small parking lot behind the restaurant or off street parking in the surrounding neighborhood. Come on out and give them a try. read more

Always a favorite! I grew up going to this swamis and have always been obsessed with their açaí bowls. I get them without bee pollen (I'm allergic), but they are still fantastic! I absolutely love the freshness. While i recommend their açaí bowls I know their other menu items are just as delicious. Yu really can't go wrong with anything. The portions are usually pretty large too. They always have so many gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options at all of their locations so it's nice to have so many choices when you have dietary restrictions. Great lunch spot so close to the beach/ocean right in Carlsbad Village with warm & helpful service. The steak frites was well prepared exactly as ordered medium rare with regular and sweet potato fries. The sweet potato fries were not exactly crispy but still hit the spot. The salmon spinach salad was generously portioned, hot, sweet and tender salmon with crispy red onion and cucumber slices. Served with mustard vinaigrette on the side and a couple of whole grain slices of garlic bread - supper yummy. I thoroughly enjoyed this salad. Soda & Arnold Palmer was refilled promptly. We wanted to order food to go. The entrance is unclear and when we entered what seemed to be the entrance NO ONE greeted us. We had no idea where to go or what to do to get service. We asked multiple people and they redirected us multiple times. It was Curb Your Enthusiasm level awkwardness. Visiting from Tx and have been to Swami's twice on our vacation now. On our first visit, we were seated by Chico, who took our drink order and was super sweet. Luis was our server and gave us excellent service. We had the banana walnut pancakes and the French toast. It was delicious. 100% recommend. The next day we tried a different breakfast place and were so upset by the service and food that we came back to the same Swami's. Chico sat us and took our drink order again. I'm a little confused on how this place has such great reviews. Our experience fell quite short of that. We arrived on a Thursday morning with the hankering for some good breakfast and coffee. We'll start with the coffee. We noticed that they had what looked like a decent sized espresso machine so we both ordered lattes. I was trying to explain to him that I like mine with a little bit of sweetness to it and he kept offering me syrup, but I said no I want sugar in it and he didn't quite understand it so I let that one go and thought that I would just add it. When we got our lattes, they basically look like drip coffee with some milk on top. I took two sips of mine and couldn't finish it. The cups were way too large for the espresso clearly he didn't know how to use the machine. We let that one go because we were just hungry and wanted to order breakfast. I was looking at the menu and noticed that none of the breakfast entrées come with bacon so when I inquired about it the server let me know that I can make it a meal for $4 extra. That would put me at about $18 for a plate of potatoes and bacon with some eggs. I went ahead and skip the bacon and just ordered the two egg breakfast with potatoes. as I waited, I noticed a smaller menu that said BREAKFAST SPECIALS and was that there was an entree on the menu for $14 that included bacon, ham, eggs, toast, coffee, and potatoes!! I brought this to the order takers attention and he said oh you want bacon that's fine. I'll just add bacon and I won't charge you extra. When I asked him why he didn't point this out to me earlier when I asked for a breakfast entrée with Bacon, he just kind of shrugged it off. This place is not what I was hoping for when I did get my food. It was very lackluster. There was way too many potatoes and they had very little seasoning on them. The "toast" was not toasted and I just was happy with my meal I left feeling frustrated and unsatisfied. I do not think I will come back to this place when I'm in the area again. read more
